Well aren't we just one big happy family!! After Joy got adopted, Marley appointed herself the kitten babysitter, and after some initial apprehension. Camellia decided that was just fine by her! Now all five kitties cuddle together and Marley keeps the boys entertained (or rather, they keep her entertained! 😹) while Camellia takes a break! Me: Time to feed the babies! Camellia: I've got this one! Last weekend I had to step in and help out sweet Camellia with her kids as she wasn't producing enough milk and we weren't sure why Ceylon and Matcha were sick. The first few days we kept them in separate rooms, but after it became clear that everyone else is healthy, we let her have access to her babies again, but she was mostly just acting as supervisor, checking to see if I was doing my job! Now that Chai, Darjeeling, and Earl Grey are nice and CHONKY, Camellia decided to step back into motherhood, and give me a break!! I know the boys are happy to see her again too! We finally have names! Introducing Mama Camellia and her little kit-teas, Darjeeling, Earl Grey, Chai, Matcha, and Ceylon! It's been a very difficult past few days. After Ceylon and Matcha got sick, we figured out that Camellia isn't making enough milk to sustain all five babies, which was exacerbating the issue for the two sick babies. Unfortunately, this meant we ended up separating her from her kittens, to keep her from getting irritated or injured from them working too hard to try to eat, and to get the babies to agree to take a bottle from me instead. Sadly, we couldn't save sweet Ceylon and Matcha. The good news is that Darjeeljng, Chai, and Earl Grey are now taking a bottle without much resistance and they are gaining weight super quickly! Sweet Camellia, who is very underweight herself, has also found a food she enjoys and has started eating more too! We are very hopeful that our sweet Mama and her three boys will soon all be fat and happy and we should be able to reunite them soon!
