One of the very few times we got to see wildlife so close to us was on the Denali Tundra Wilderness tour that takes you to about mile 50 inside the park. . This Alaskan grizzly was roaming the hillside as the bus came by, and was oblivious to all of the cameras pointing towards him. You can’t tell but I shot this through the window as I was sitting on the other side of the bus. . Have you seen a grizzly this close before? . Most of you know I love the northern lights, so when we actually had a clear night in Alaska (this was rare on our trip), I was super excited! . We parked our @canadreamrv RV on a side stretch by the road overlooking part of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve. . When I got out, the lights cast an eerie green glow across the entire night sky, as it slowly started to get active on the left. . While this activity was short lived, I’m glad I was able to capture the moment, showing the RV for scale on how expansive the night sky is. . It was truly a wonderful night. . Here’s the real reason why I went to Alaska! ;) When I was in Anchorage, I was looking for a place to get some coffee when I stumbled upon this place! I was so happy to find this park right in the middle of the city—I had to go and check it out! . It was a small park but with a beautiful setting with a walking path all around the pond. . Have you been to Denali National Park and Preserve? It’s truly a grand place where the rolling hills and valleys exploded with vibrant autumn colours, and the gorgeous and expansive landscape runs for miles and miles, backed by the surrounding mountain ranges. . Here’s just a small glimpse of the landscape where a van and a school bus driving along the road gives you a sense of exactly how expansive this place is. . Denali was one of the spots we had targeted to go to on our road trip with @canadreamrv RV and it definitely did not disappoint. . During our ride through Alaska on @canadreamrv we noticed various colour changes in the landscape. Just like here in Toronto today, we had many overcast and rainy days in Alaska. As a matter of fact, it was overcast about 80% of our time there! Despite the dreary clouds, we still had spectacular scenery at every turn of the road leading up to Denali that we really didn’t mind the clouds. With scenery like this we were mesmerized by our surroundings throughout the entire trip. . It’s the first full day of autumn here in Ontario but while we were in Alaska in early September, autumn was already well on its way. . I started my road trip in Whitehorse, Yukon, then took to the roads eventually heading to Alaska. The trip was filled with long drives through spectacular mountain ranges and autumn landscapes that made me stop every now and again just to admire the scenery in front of me (and take pictures). . On my first night I stayed by Kathleen River where we slept through an intense wind storm that rocked our @canadreamrv RV back and forth. Fortunately nothing happened and we woke to a couple of fishermen who decided to tackle the river to see what they could find. . There’s always adventures to be had on the road! . Driving up the Dempster Highway is one road trip of a lifetime. Even though the roads are not paved, you soon forget the bumpy ride as you soak in the beautiful vistas that pass you by after each turn of the road. . It started to rain as we began our ride on the highway, but that just meant wicked photo ops, like the rain falling down on the Tombstone mountain range. . Shortly after though, the sun came out and it was as if it had never rained. We hiked up a mountain that offered breathtaking views of another mountain range before continuing on our journey up the highway with even more fantastic views of water, mountains, and the golden fall foliage of the Yukon. .
