one last thought for today: the fact that the game, after everything you’ve been through, announces that the only way you can defeat the elder brain (now a super mega turbo brain whose actually been playing 1000D chess this entire time) is with a mind flayer and there’s no other options is so lame to me sorry

thinking about a wyll fancy ball quest and like there’s a lot of reasons for the player to encourage him to stay as the blade at the end of the game, but that’s really in part because we never really see wyll interact with the nobility and it could be interesting to see that like what if at this ball there were nobles who were trying to work against gortash and seeing wyll gives them a figure to rally around and highlights how wyll could do good if he stays in baldurs gate

also why is everyone bar lae’zel and karlach so weird about wyll becoming duke? this game does not have enough of an interest in politics to justify this lol

god i love the wyll romance sooo much especially coming at it from the context of how i'm playing my durge but its ridiculously obvious how little attention the it got. and like idc about not having a 'proper' sex scene or whatever but the fact that its not even replaced with more conversation before the fade to black is just so...well. we know why its like this but it still pisses me off.

lrb sorry but tonally the final scenes of bg3 are like all over the place im breaking my silence. our good friend astarion who we've been through so much with is burning to death in the sun and we all go: lol! bye astarion hehe! then with the karlach ending patch the final scene i get with the characters is karlach smoking a cigar and running into the distance with wyll, which is cute and fun sure, but why is this the final thing i see for this playthrough and not my character deciding their future with their li? is this all meant to be triumphant, relieved, sad, fucking silly? idk

is this a safe space to say i think putting the ansur stuff behind wyll's quest (only revealed if you make a specific choice) was really stupid. i get why it was wyll of all the companions, he's the most concerned with being a hero and what's more heroic than killing a dragon? but the actual lore regarding ansur ends up having nothing to do with wyll as a character and recontextualises a lot of what we know about an entirely different character. personally i'd rather if this was something the player could discover themselves through different means, and wyll got content that was specific to him and wasn't super easy to miss
