discord roles act like little tags on your profile for a server! in this case, its how were assigning a color to your username since you can color-code roles & the one at the top makes your name the same color as the role ^^

i think their main purpose is for things like channel access & a hierarchy of sorts, separating mods from everyone else etc etc but in my server its just a silly name + a color :3
