CARATLIBRARY OFFICIAL POST

CaratLibrary is a SEVENTEEN writing network with the goals of promoting the written works of Carat writers and fostering an inclusive environment of creativity and interaction. We reblog members’ written works under our network tag and facilitate events and collabs open to members of the network. 

Applications are open on an ongoing basis, and new members are announced on the first Monday of each month. To become a member you must:

Welcome to the grand opening of the Carat Library— here’s your library card, now come with us to find a story that will tickle your fancy and let your imagination take flight! 

Guidelines: In honor of CaratLibrary’s opening, our first quarterly event will have the theme of storytelling. Each submission must be the retelling of a story. Maybe it’s a modern adaptation of a Jane Austen novel, or maybe it’s your re-interpretation of a tale from classic mythology. Whatever story you choose to tell and retell, all submissions must:

follow our regular reblog criteria as listed in the official rules,

exceed our event word minimum of 3k words

be a retelling of another story of any medium (ie. film, book, folktale, etc are acceptable as source material)

There is an unlimited number of slots available.

To participate: Send @honeykyeom a direct message with your planned member and concept, and she will reply privately to confirm your proposed slot.

April swings us directly into the open maw of spring– and for many of us, along with spring comes the promise of the end of the semester. As the end of the school year looms, CaratLibrary is getting into the mood for summer break early! The theme for April is travel and leisure. 

Guidelines: April’s event will have the theme of travel and leisure. Each submission must:

and include themes of travel or leisure in any way

There are no limits or restrictions on which member you want to write for.

December’s monthly event will be a secret gift exchange! 

Guidelines: 

Each submission must:

follow our regular reblog criteria as listed in the official rules,

exceed our event word minimum of 1k words,

follow the guidelines/hard limits of the gift receiver (will be communicated by CaratLibrary admins),

and be published in the last week of December (25th-31st), using the tracking tag #caratlibrarygiftexchange

To participate: fill out this form before December 4th. During the first business week of December, the CaratLibrary admins will assign each participant a gift recipient. Keep this a secret! Membership Criteria

In order to be accepted as a member, you must be compliant with the following requirements:

You are an active SEVENTEEN writer. If you write for multiple groups, SEVENTEEN is one of them. 

You have at least one written work featuring a member of SEVENTEEN posted on your blog.

You are active (published at least one narrative work featuring a member of SEVENTEEN in the past year).

You have a masterlist or summative post with links to all your works.

If you write smut, you must be over the age of 18. 

Content Criteria

In order for your writing to be reblogged, it must be complaint with the following requirements:

All content must have appropriate content warnings at the top. We will not reblog any work supporting or containing uncritical portrayal of racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, fatphobia/disordered eating, or abuse.

All content must have a word count at the top.

Content longer than 500 words (not including warnings and summary at the top) must be under a readmore cut.

Smut must have appropriate warnings at the top and any explicit content must be under a readmore cut.

We only reblog written works that are narrative in nature. Narrative in nature means that the work must attempt to tell a story. Guidelines: For CaratLibrary’s third seasonal event, we’ll be focusing on the theme of different worlds. Each submission must take place in any setting as long as it’s not realism. This includes genres like sci-fi, fantasy, magical realism, and excludes idol AUs, school AUs, and anything taking place in the real world. 

Whatever combination you end up writing, along with the guidelines above, all submissions must:

follow our regular reblog criteria as listed in the official rules,

exceed our event word minimum of 3k words

There is an unlimited number of slots available.
