JANCY FIC IDEA!! In the song Timeless by Taylor Swift, she mentions different time lines that she and her lover would still end up together in. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but I definitely see Jancy falling in love in any timeline. And it would give you different opportunities to write aus in times you might not usually choose.
Oh this would so cute, so very soulmates.

You held your head as you tried to focus on the lesson. Your teacher rambled on about the same thing for what seemed like the past three classes, and it didn’t help that she talked as if you were in kindergarten. You looked at the people that were in front of you and saw Jungkook fiddling around, his leg bouncing and pen tapping on the desk. You kicked the empty desk that was in between the two of you, causing Jungkook to jump. He turned and looked at you as you smiled innocently and he rolled his eyes, turning back around and sitting still. You pushed your hair back and stared at the papers in front of you. “So for this lab, I’ll assign partners, I’ll pull them up right now,” your teacher yelled as you sighed and watched as she walked back to her school macbook and pulled up the list and your eyes darted across each row until you found your name. There it was, three up from the bottom and right next to Jimin’s. You sighed, knowing that Jungkook would offer you his partner so he could work with Jimin.
You stood up and walked to a lab table. You heard the other stool be pulled out from the table and looked up to see who you were switched with but to your surprise it was Jimin. “Hi y/n,” he smiled as you smiled back and you both started to work on the assigned lab. “The issue is in the sex chromosomes, see, there’s two x’s and one y,” You looked at Jimin pointing at the example on the computer as he squinted and looked at it then nodded. “Okay, I’ll trust you,” you nodded. “That would be the best thing to do,” he looked at you with a half smirk, half smile and chuckled. “You’re gettin’ a bit cocky there y/n,” you smiled in a pure way. You liked this relationship you had with Jimin, it was still just at the point of being acquaintances but you know each other from your world history class and math and science from the previous year. But you didn’t care too much for his best friend, Jungkook, he was in your math class this year and he just came across as a major douchebag. He always talked about woman with his friends in a way that made you want to punch his face so hard that stars were on the top of his head.
Jimin and you threw down your pencils in unison and smiled to yourselves. You looked around the room to see only one other group finished. Jimin put his hand up and you looked at him as he smiled “come on y/n~ don’t leave me hangin’” you smiled then gave him a high five, a little unsure if that’s what he meant. Jimin smiled and pulled out his phone as you looked around the room,
seeing what other partnerships were doing, and you couldn’t help but grin at the way that Jungkook was struggling. You started to go through the packet and double check your work, making sure everything was accurate or close to being accurate. You looked up again and your attention was brought to Jungkook as he bit the inside of his lip as he texted someone quickly then went back to his work. “Y’know I think Jungkook likes you,” you looked at Jimin with wide eyes. “Nooooo, and even if he did I would reject him so fast,” Jimin pouted a little. “Oh come onnn, give him a chance, go ask him out,” you raised an eyebrow, as you made a face of disgust “so he can embarrass me and reject me in front of his friends, hell no, I’ll save myself from that. Besides I already have my eyes on someone else,” Jimin’s posture stiffened from his slouch as he looked at you with wide eyes. “Who?!” You shook your head. “I’m not telling, besides we barely know each other,” he huffed.
You stood up and walked to your desk as jimin followed quickly, finding himself to sit at the desk in between Jungkook’s and yours. You pretended to continue going over notes as Jimin looked at you. “Pleaseeeee, he likes you! He doesn’t get crushes usually,” he pleaded as you looked at him. “Listen Jimin, I hear how he talks about woman and I don’t respect that, therefore I will not go out with a sexist asshole that strongly believes women are toys for men to play with, understood?!” You started to get frustrated. Jimin sighed and turned around as jungkook sat down and looked at him, giving him a questioning look. Jimin shook his head as Jungkook sat down quickly and covered his face. You looked up and saw him as he rubbed his face. Jimin pat his shoulder as he stood up and walked back to his seat. Jungkook took a deep breath, calming his nerves, then turned around and looked at you. “Wanna go get ice cream later?” He smiled, a couple other classmates were watching as you looked at him. “No,” you responded flatly and he pressed his lips together. “Please? I really like you, and I’d love to go out with you,”
You pressed your lips together then took a deep inhale, so you didn’t lose your cool. “I’ve heard the way you talk about girls and I entirely disagree with everything you say and just your name makes me pissed off, why in the hell would I go out witha sexist ass like you?!” Jungkook looked at you “please y/n, I can change, I promise,” you looked at him and scoffed. “If you can change then I can win a Nobel prize,” you rolled your eyes as the bell rung and you cleaned up your things and walked out, leaving Jungkook speechless.
The next morning when you walked into your math class you found yourself sitting in the seat next to Jungkook. You tried to keep your focus off of him but you just couldn’t, he was being quieter than normal and you were a bit worried. “Jungkook, you okay?” You looked at him as he nodded. “Don’t worry about it,” you bit your lip, your conscience couldn’t help but make you feel like it’s your fault. “Jungkook, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you upset if I did,” he stared at the board, almost as if he wasn’t listening so you stopped talking. He looked down at his desk then over at you. “Can you please give me a chance? I’m not the guy you think I am,” you looked at your paper and thought about it. “So you’re saying that you’re different around your friends?” He nodded slightly, still trying to pay attention to the lesson as you thought. “Why aren’t you yourself around them?” He shrugged “I dunno, I want to be accepted,” you looked at him pitifully. “Jungkook, you need new friends if you’re worried that these friends that you have now won’t accept you for how you are,” he shook his head a little. “No, it’s fine, besides Jimin is my best friend, and I’m myself around him,” you nodded and took a deep breath. “I’ll think about your offer,” he smiled to himself a little as he finished the work that was on the board. “Thank you,”
As you walked into science you saw Jungkook, looking a little bored as you walked past him and into your seat. You pulled out your work from yesterday and smiled as your teacher pulled up the answers. Jimin looked across the room at you and gave a thumbs up and you giggled. Jungkook couldn’t help but smile to himself as he heard you. You thought then kicked the desk in front of you hard and Jungkook jumped more than he usually does as he turned and looked at you with a serious look. You grinned at him and took a deep breath. “Yes,” Jungkook’s seriousness stopped as he grinned madly. That three letter word was all that he needed to hear. “Meet me by the office,” you smiled to yourself as you thought about the grin he had on his face. Damn, he was cute.

@fandomshatepeopleofcolor
“Those might be his base characteristics but him being straight doesn’t need to be a thing what does need to be a thing is him still dating MJ and Gwen because that’s important to the story and that can just as easily happen if he’s bi.
Him being white doesn’t need to be important because the only important thing is him being a nerd [nerdy Black kids and other kids of color exists] and that he’s dated MJ and Gwen which him being bi would insure. I feel like you’ve got some caricature of what Black/Kids of Color are and that’s coloring your opinion on why changing him to Black would alter him so significantly
Are under some weird assumption that all Black kids hate white people or something? What is going on in that head of yours? Have you ever stopped to listen to people and what they want in regards to Black PP? I’ll give you an example of what was said on this blog.”
I agree that him dating MJ and Gwen can happen if he is Bi, but that isn’t the point of it. The point is you’re adding something to his character that WILL change the story in SOME way. Whether it be small or big, you’re going to change the story... I’ll get to that later though.
Am I under some weird assumption that all Black kids hate white people or something? No. I’m talking about the large mainstream political atmosphere there is regarding White people from a minority point of view. Obviously they’re going to be viewed negatively. Not every minority views white people that way but I’m just saying that it would be improbable that race would not have an impact on a Black Peter Parker... Whether it be personality or history. It would impact him as a character. I wish it didn’t but it would.
Also, do you realize that Black Parents and White Parents do tend to have differences when it comes to raising their children which is also impacted in areas where they live? Unless you’re going to tell me that Black Kids are raised the same way as White Kids... and that would be definitely contradictory to a LOT of what my Black friends and coworkers over the years and many places I have lived have told me about how Black Families are.
“Listen here’s my scenario of what him being Black and Uncle Ben dying would be about:
Peter and Uncle Ben could be pulled over for a routine traffic stop and Peter could run his mouth off at the cop and Uncle Ben could be reaching over to him or whatever to call him down and the cop shoots him because he thinks he’s reaching for something. Peter’s fault. He could think had he kept his mouth shot this wouldn’t have happened. Mirrors a lot of unjust shooting incidents in America in regards to Black people.
In this example you still have the guilt Peter feels over Uncle Ben that we should be able to agree is integral to him as a person [which we don’t get in the new movie at all. Not saying I wanna keep seeing Uncle Ben die but I hope you’re complaining about that along with this but probably not.]
Second thing he already takes the law into his own hands and do you think protecting people from CRIMINAL cops that commit acts of police brutality isn’t protecting the little guy? Cause that’s how that could go and keep him true to the character AND he could still get other criminals. But oh how would he know who these cops are? The same way he knows who these criminals are. He catches them committing crime [which in case you didn’t know police brutality is ILLEGAL]”
I find the situation extremely improbable and not reflective of Peter Parker but sure. We’ll go with that. I’d rather Uncle Ben still being killed by a genuine criminal, such as a car thief, a burglar, or a mugger, and the situation revolving around it being Peter’s fault in some way as it would be a reason for him to become Spider Man like it always has been. But whatever... it would have to show the perspective of the cop as well... Believe it or not, but a lot of people who are killed by cops are not killed for no reason and the ones that are are in the minority of cases. Perhaps it would be like that one man who was reaching for his wallet after the guy informed the cop that he had a gun and still shot him? (I haven’t kept up with that case but I hope he got jailed and shit... The evidence proved that guy to be an innocent man who was killed.)
Also, yes, you are correct that it would reflect the guilt and need to catch criminals though... I’m still iffy on the situation. It was a true criminal, not a poorly trained cop that ended up becoming a murderer, that had pushed him into becoming Spider Man after all.
Yes Police Brutality is illegal but it is a VERY slippery slope and very complex subject... It is easier to continue with a true criminal being the individual to push him into being Spider Man... Either that or we could just have a Miles Morales Spider Man Movie... Which I had wanted to see over a Peter Parker movie because I was afraid how much he’d be changed for Homecoming, which sucked ass.
“You’re really showing that you’ve got some set image of Black kids in your mind [I think it’s fucking moronic that you’re painting him being aware of systematic oppression as a negative but like you’re not gonna change so moving on.] I didn’t feel any of the effects of systematic oppression really when I was growing up. I wasn’t bullied for being Black. My parents were middle class but I really wanted for nothing. My highs chool career was relatively painless [I got bullied sometimes but that wasn’t because I was Black]. I was accepted to 10 of the 11 colleges I applied for and I’ve recently graduated. If you’ve got a problem with him being like the Black kid you described well guess what that’s not the only Black experience!
Everything I’ve just said still keeps Peter Parker as the nerdy I want justice kid that’s looking out for the little guy.”
You’re right (about the Black Experiences.), and congrats for graduating. Genuinely, congrats!
Anyway, yes, I am aware that it isn’t the only Black Experience growing up, as nothing is universal, but I am looking at things through the perspective of who is going to see this movie... If he was a BLACK Spider Man you’re DEFINITELY going to be aiming for a certain demographic. Young Black People. How are you to connect with them on screen? By pandering to their social issues that they may or may not be facing. If it doesn’t touch on those do you think it would do as well as it would do if it did? I believe it would sell MORE if it pandered to those demographics though would eventually taper off and nose dive... MAYBE. The fact that he would be black would probably drive a lot of fans off unless he was Miles Morales or something. (I legit wanna see a Miles movie where it leads to a sequel of Peter and Miles teaming up... Seeing two Spider-Guys on screen would be awesome! Silk and Spider-Woman would be cool too... though I don’t trust the casting choices these days.)
Black YouTubers, Bloggers, and so on would be praising the movie. Congratulating it on touching on x issue and so on when the issue is already VERY controversial in and of itself. Again, made VERY political.
“You’re wrong and that’s detailed above.
People complain about movies all the time so is that suddenly a reason not to make them? I really hope you’re applying that to all movies but I know you’re not. Your lot pulls the most asinine reasons out of your ass to not have a character be x thing but never stop to think how ridiculous it is because you’re blinded by whatever drives you to be this way
Not to mention there is homophobia in the Black community [not more than others but it’s there] they could be complaining cause the kid is bisexual. They’d probably be more likely to complain about the kid being bisexual than anything you’ve just said.”
I don’t know what you’re referring to in that first paragraph.... so... imma just skip that. I’m evacuated for Irma and my internet is shit so if I could go and look up exactly what you were referring to, I would.
I am aware of the homophobia in the Black Community. Again, I’m unsure of what I just said, lol, but I’ll probably come back and edit this with a response to that when I can.
“Never said to change that sooo…maybe try staying on topic?”
I was explaining the three basic things that makes Peter Parker who he is and the way he is. Being a Nerd was one of them... That was me staying on topic and was my argument. At least we agree that he should remain a nerd.
“UHMMMMMMM him being BI doesn’t suddenly mean that MJ can’t be the main love interest?? Do you know what being bisexual means?? He could be attracted to both men and women and currently attracted to MJ?? Do you know that bi men and bi women that end up with or have a majority attraction to their opposite sex are still bi lol?? When I marry a woman I will still be bisexual because I am still attracted to men. AGAIN say it with me now HIM BEING BI DOESN’T CHANGE THE LOVE INTEREST PART OF THE STORY.”
You’re right, him being Bi doesn’t change the love interest part of the story, but if he was Bi and it didn’t change the love interest of the story, then what is the point of him being Bi in the first place? Please... explain. Cause, at that point, what would be an issue with him being straight, which is conveniently accurate to the comics? Are we going to make him Bi just to make him Bi for the sake of pandering? That diversity checklist? Gonna make Mary Jane Bi then...? I’m legit confused as to why the hell it matters at that point... (I know your answer to this but I’ll get to that in a bit.)
“So him beating up criminals and protecting the little guy doesn’t have political implications or anything? Not to mention Spiderman along with a bunch of major comics have always been political. That’s part of the reason a lot of comics were created to say something political. For example, Captain America.”
You’re right. A lot of comics were created to be political but some are definitely more political than others. Spiderman I have a hard time seeing as political unless you PUT political shit into it. Spiderman has always been more or less about a young man who experienced tragedy and wanted to make sure that no one else would suffer at the hands of criminals if he could do something about it... that’s it. Unless you can enlighten me on the political undertones of his entire existence.
“But anyway there’s so much wrong with what’s going on here if you don’t want him coming out or him going to pride to be a central focus we spend time in his room. He could just as easily have a picture of him and Aunt May holding something that says “New York Pride” and Aunt May wearing some shirt that says “I support my bisexual nephew or whatever” and there you go a few minutes dedicated to what he supports and what his Aunt does or doesn’t know and the story can go on. Do you realize that someone being bisexual with a supportive or even unsupportive parents doesn’t come up in every conversation?”
That could definitely be a way that they could go about it if it happened, which be like a band-aid... probably the best option... I personally don’t see them doing it like that though if being Bi would be something they wanted to experiment with him being... But yes I realize that someone being bisexual with supportive or even unsupportive parents doesn’t come up in every conversation... kinda. That question confused me a bit with how it was worded.
How immersed are you into the comics? Because there’s a lot of shit that happened that was never meant to be [like erasing everything about him and MJ] and yet it’s happened. Did you ever watch Paranorman? The end has a perfect example of what you would like representation wise. Like a simple comment “I saw a cute boy.” That doesn’t alter the character to the point where you would have a valid reason to bitch like this.
Not as much as I wish I was, but enough to know of the general premise of a lot of stories and a some details. Also, never saw Paranorman but that example isn’t what we are discussing here. If you want Peter to be Bi but it is to the point where it has no impact on the story, what in the hell is that word there for? Ah... you dropped the reason right there. “Representation.”
Lemme be really clear about this. I could literally care less if they made a character Black, Gay, Trans, Bi, or whatever... as long as it is a brand new character. I don’t like it when people change shit about characters... Is that honestly so bad? Have a Bi/Gay/Trans/POC Spidey all you want... just don’t change an already established character. That’s legit ALL I fucking want.
“So I wasn’t bullied in school because I was bisexual [also he was bullied in school so why didn’t that make him not care about the little guy] however I did receive so much shit from my parents and do you know what? I am grown and I’ve dedicated my life to working with non-profits that help marginalized communities, in other words, the little guy. You are a moron if you think getting bullied for anything [you also apparently don’t care that canon proves this point is beyond asinine to make but hey whatever you can do to get your wrong opinion across] would stop people from caring about the little guy [yeah it happens sometimes but it canonically didn’t happen with PP] it would more often than not be the opposite. “I was a little guy and now I want to help others like me.”
I knew you were gonna bring that up. Peter wanted to look out for the little guy because, in school, he IS the little guy. After he get’s powers he somewhat stands up to Flash so that he stops messing with him but Peter was pretty much always the little guy. Not only that, but he knew who was the asshole and who was the innocent guy... usually. In Peter’s case he was bullied MOSTLY by Flash and people bullied him alongside Flash because they’d rather join Flash than be against him. That’s not what I was saying though.
Now that we agree about that my implication is that, in school, someone’s sexuality tends to be the easiest thing to mock and by EVERYONE. Not just specific people. If he was already nerdy and awkward, and if you thew being Bi into the mix, he could be potentially the punching bag by a LOT more than just a few individuals. If it was just a few individuals then that could continue to inspire him to look out for the little guy, but if there were more people than just the few individuals, there was the potential for even the little guys to pick on him too... I probably can explain that better but... Ugh... I hope that makes sense.
“You’re throwing out scenarios that don’t need to happen. He’s still bi if he’s in love with MJ. No one is suggesting MJ be turned into a man [can you show me how many instances of people calling for BISEXUAL PP not GAY PP saying “hey let’s turn MJ into a man??] I really hope you’re not a creative writer because you’re throwing out these scenarios that you can’t seem to fix on your own.”
There was a LONG response a found about a post like this a while back that would take some scrolling, but apparently Mark Webb, Andrew Garfield, and a few other people were talking and toying with the ideas of making MJ a man... I think. The details are hazy but it is documented. They had scrapped a female MJ Candidate back when they were thinking about an Amazing Spider Man 3 movie and refused to come out and say if MJ was a male or female... so.. yeah. I’d have to find it for you but it would take some time.
“Why do people assume bisexual people will hop into a relationship with any person? Do you realize bisexual people have standards and types? He doesn’t have to be sexually attracted to either one of those guys. Fuck he doesn’t have to be with any guy to be bisexual. There are a BUNCH of men who have never been with another man and yet they know they are bisexual. You just have no understanding of any of the communities you are talking about here and should honestly stop talking about this shit because you are so woefully uninformed to the point of it being pathetic.”
Umm... Because apparently, on this site, if a man even GLANCES in another man’s direction he’s apparently gay or bi and Tumblr ships the fuck out of them... Okay, obviously that’s just this site but yes I understand that Bisexual people obviously have standards and types just like everyone else. I also understand that he doesn’t have to be with a guy, or people don’t have to be with someone of their same sex, to be bi. I’m just saying those are possibilities that people would want to see happen and if they’re going to change Peter Parker than what would stop them from changing Harry too...? If people were genuinely thinking about changing MJ into a male then literally ANYTHING could happen at that point. It isn’t THAT far fetched.
“I mean yeah sure let’s go with that and just not examine why a majority of these characters weren’t like that to begin with. It’s not like racism and homophobia could have had any influence on making him a white straight guy in 1962. He is the way he is 100% because that’s what Stan Lee [also do you realize he’s not the only guy that created Spiderman. Do you know what the other creators thought/think?] wanted and that it had nothing to do with racism and homophobia during the time. Let’s do away with the literary critique that examines the social/political atmosphere of when a book/comic was written to see why it was written that way.”
It didn’t stop him from making X-Men to tackle that legit reason in the 1960s. (Supposedly it was also created in the hopes of tackling Homophobia too.) So...
There is an entire documentary out there, of which I can’t remember the name of but it was on during coverage of Comic-con in 2015 I think(?), where it explains the creation of Spider Man with Stan Lee himself and I do understand that he wasn’t the only one who worked on Spider Man... well... Peter Parker more specifically. The reasoning behind the character was that he was trying to write and create a character that the average kid or college kid could relate to. Also, despite the race issues, think about the target audience and demographics. If this was being written in Japan, he’d be Japanese. If this was being written in Africa, he’d be African (Most likely a Black African.), if he was being written in the Middle East, he’d be Middle Eastern. In America, he’s white because he was obviously writing to the largest target audience. I do not believe for a second that he was being racist. Perhaps it was because of the political and social atmosphere of the times but I think it was more or less a subconscious choice than a thought out one to make him white.
Nowadays, look at the difference. We now have Miles Morales, Cindy Moon, Jessica Drew, Spider-Gwen, and etc. An Black-Hispanic, an Asian American, a middle aged White Woman, and a young White Woman all in their Spider Get-Ups. Why in the fuck should we change Peter again?
“You know as a consumer of this stuff I actually don’t have to respect anything the author is doing and author doesn’t just get respect because he created something so like take that you need to respect that bullshit elsewhere. ALSO I truly hope because you’re saying that you’re fighting against movies that whitewash characters from books that have PoC. One more thing. Death of the Author is a thing and that’s all I will say on the matter.”
I’m fighting against movies that x-wash anything... I don’t like how people change the races of any character that is created a certain way. It is disrespectful to the source material and to the author’s original intentions unless the Author is obviously on-board with it.
If they made a Static Shock movie and made him White, I’d be pissed. If they made Storm Mexican, I’d be pissed. If they changed up Bishop, I’d be pretty angry. If they changed Luke Cage I’d be pretty fucking mad.
I didn’t see Ghost in The Shell, but I do wish they found an Asian Actress, but the creator of the entire thing from Japan was cool with it so... I can’t argue...
“Don’t authors when they give people rights to movies lose a big say in what does and  doesn’t happen to said character so again his wishes don’t have to be fucking respected.”
Yes and no I think... I don’t know the major details about that but I’m sure Stan Lee has some pull... The guy is pretty important in Marvel after all...
“Also it’s funny that you’re using Storm and Black Panther to shut down a conversation about why PP should be Black and or Bi like do you understand why those characters were created???”
I’m interested in what you have to say about it so... enlighten me?
“I mean it’s not a shock he would be biphobic look at when he grew up. It’s not a shock he would be kind of a trash human being let’s look at his history of being trash. Cool he doesn’t mince but still biphobic.”
It’s funny how people call him a trash human being when he did a lot to try and help people through his comic books. X-Men to be more specific. I just think its his preference and his old age coming through. I wouldn’t say that he’s biphobic though.
“I know context must be hard for you since you can’t tell the difference between changing a character from straight to bisexual and changing a bisexual character to being straight. One erases much needed representation and is an act of biphobia. The other is a result of people having hard ons for straight people most likely due to the homophobic climate they grew up in. Not the same thing. Then again you probably think racebending and whitewashing are the same.”
There it is again! That famous representation argument. Also, PLEASE for the love of god define for me what Biphobia is... is it when a straight person doesn’t like a Bi person...? Is... is that all? One of my coolest coworkers was a Bi Black guy but I didn’t agree with his lifestyle? (More like I can’t see how a man can look at another man can be attracted to it. Again, preference like you said.) Am I Biphobic?
Okay, the whole representation argument is legitimately ungodly stupid at this point. You want to talk about representation? Okay, so in America 60-80% of Americans are White I think it is. Less than 15% are Black individuals and so on the list goes. It would only make sense that the ratio of Black Superhero’s, and other minority heros, are smaller in population compared to White Superheros. (In America.) The numbers are even worse than that for when it comes to sexuality. On the entire GLOBE 90% of ALL human beings are straight. Meanwhile that last 10% goes to the homosexuals/bisexuals/transexuals. Spread those proportions across the globe and they are higher and lower in certain places. In the sense that you’re rolling the dice to come up with a character’s... well... everything... Most likely the character would be White, either male/female, and straight. I see a correlating pattern here.
Now that since numbers are in favor of one group and their prominence in film, you say that the other’s should have fair representation. I’m fine with that. However, what I am NOT fine with is changing ESTABLISHED characters. I’ll say it again and again. I am against changing ANY character that is already created.
I LEGIT HATE seeing when people GLORIFY Black/POC Actors when they take a WHITE Role but then, all of a sudden, a Black or POC role is taken (Yes, I know they’re the fucking same thing.) by a White Individual and they lose their fucking shit... Just because you vote to steal someones things doesn’t make it okay. Just because you take a role away from someone else for a political agenda DOESN’T make it okay. “Ya’ll got, like, 90% of the characters in hollywood. You can fuck off with dat and we can have a few.”
How. The. Fuck. Is. That. Okay.
“Muh repuseenashuun.”
I am more than willing to see NEW characters of color ON screen. All we need is the material to draw from and someone to approach film studios about those types of projects. The more material there is, the more propositions there are, and the more studios you approach, the more likely you are of getting these characters and stories on the big screen!!! For example there was a movie that was supposed to come out, idk when it was, but it was starring an actor that played Gus in USA’s Psych show. Although he wasn’t the main character, it was a movie about a young black kid that got super powers and he lived in a bad area and all he wanted to do was take care of his younger sibling... He’d trick people into thinking his powers were just magic tricks or something... I can’t remember the movie but I wanna see it... and the best thing was that it was definitely a Black Superhero Movie... If we had more and more stories like that made and presented, I’d definitely be in favor of it. All we need are more people willing to go to school into that field and get things working and moving... So... Idk.. I ranted for a bit.
In a nutshell, don’t replace ANY character with another race, gender, or sexuality other than what they were made with... Fair is fucking fair is it not? You want more representation, make your own characters and stories. Don’t mooch of characters you didn’t work to make.
“No question about it it’s biphobic [if you aren’t bi you don’t get to decide what is and isn’t biphobic] and we don’t live in an either or world it can be both. It can be biphobic and a push back. BRUH comics INCLUDING Spiderman have always been political whether it’s one comic or a series or the entire thing so lack and you and SL can eat a sack of dicks if your argument revolves around “OH NOES IT’S BEING TURNED POLITICAL!”
I don’t have to be Bi to know what is biphobic, I don’t have to be Black to know what racism is, I don’t have to be a minority to know what oppression is, so you can fuck off with that argument of ‘authentication from a position of power’ bullshit. Wanna know why? Cause you can probably get 15 Bi individuals and between themselves they may not even agree on if something is Biphobic or not. We can get 15 Black people in a room and they could disagree on what is racist or not. We could get 15 minorities in a room and they could disagree on what is oppressive or not. I don’t need a PHD in bullshit to know bullshit when I see it. That’s just a general rule.
Again, explain how Spdierman has been political. Please.
“The core of Peter Parker is that he understands responsibility. He helps the underdog and his romantic entanglements with MJ and Gwen. All the things you listed don’t change that and since those core values need to exist and they are from the original creators not just Stan fucking Lee the character would still have his ORIGINAL CORE VALUES”
Yes but it would only be Peter Parker by name. Changing his skin color and sexuality, which easily affect who someone ends up becoming when they grow up, could change a LOT about him to the point that it isn’t truly Peter Parker.
So if we changed up Static Shocks character traits, would he still be Static Shock? If we changed Luke Cage’s character traits, would he still be Luke Cage? Even if all of their values were the same, would that still be those same characters?
“Also it’s beyond disgusting and racist and transphobic and homophobic and whatever the word is for being ethniphobic for you to say changing him into those would destroy the character [okay making him gay would change the love interest but still homophobic/biphobic because you think the same thing of him being bisexual]. Like it’s not our fault you’ve got such poor problem-solving skills/story telling skills that you wouldn’t know how to keep his core values or you can’t imagine him keeping his core values if he were any of these.”
Core Values are just one part of a character... Their personality, history, upbringing, and etc are also what make up a character. You know what can impact ALL of those things? Their skin color, sexuality, and gender. All of fucking which are established with Peter FUCKING Parker. Yet you have no problems with wanting to change a character instead of lobbying to create a new one to fit an agenda. I abso-fucking-lutely hate that bullshit. I wouldn’t even create a fan-fiction where Storm is White because I respect the character itself... Same with characters from other Comic companies. If they made Cyborg White, he wouldn’t be cyborg to me.
(Aquaman is a VERY different story though... I see his appearance being changed more reflects what an Atlantian looks like. More so because Atlantian’s are from the Greek Pantheon aren’t they? Mediterranean looking with darker skin, darker hair, and so on? A blonde white guy wouldn’t make sense to me. Not only that, but the fact that he is the king of a totally different culture, skin color doesn’t matter all too much.)
I meant comment and also it’s not a stretch to say him making the majority of his characters white and straight is a product of the social and political atmosphere he grew up in. I mean it’s a stretch for people that think that stuff doesn’t affect us and I’m getting the feeling you might be one of those people
It does affect us but we have something that cures all wounds, and that’s time... Yet people haven’t taken advantage of that and let the past go so the bullshit of the past is still fucking around. (-.- if there wasn’t Slavery or fucking Segregation in this country we wouldn’t even be having his convo right now... maybe.) Fuck the past. Can’t change what happened though. We can only do what we can with the time we’re given. Sounds cheesy and directly from LOTR... cause it was but yeah.
