Create a character with a fire theme!

Does your character have fire related powers? Are they made of fire itself? Are they simply a fiery person or tend to gravitate towards warm colors? Are they tied to a myth related to fire, or have a job that requires them to work with fire?

It’s entirely up to you, get wild with it- as long as your character has some relation to or theming surrounding fire, it’s fair game!

Meet Mono, my submission for the Rhythm and Rhyme character design challenge from @chaotic-crafters-dc!

The challenge was to design a character based on a song - Mono is based off of Monody by TheFatRat. He had a partner named Dei who disappeared many years ago, and he's been searching for her since.

Had lots of fun with this, and I'm excited for the next prompt!

Create a character based off of a song!

Is there a song out there with lyrics so oddly specific that you can’t help but make an image in your head? Is there a song out there that simply has such a specific vibe that you can’t shake it? Is there a song that makes you think of a color, an animal, a type of person or anything else? Well, you’re in luck- now’s your chance to take advantage of that, and pick a song for our first challenge to make a character!

Create a character based off of a song- whether it be based on the lyrics, or just the general vibe. And be sure to share what song you pick to do so!

Create a character based off of a stuffed animal!

This challenge prompt is all about creating a character based off of plushies! Is it a plush you’ve had and loved for years? Is it one you saw in passing but wish you could have gotten? Is there a plush you’ve seen pictures of online that you love the concept behind?

This prompt is a tad more specific! We want to see if you can take an existing plush and make it into a character of your own!

Secret Identity

Create a character who has a secret identity or alter ego!

Are they a villain, a hero? Do they have a job they secretly do on the weekend? Are they a secret agent, a part time rockstar with a mysterious identity? Anything goes, as long as you create a character who has a secret identity of some kind, whether serious or silly. If you want to have extra fun, you can try to illustrate more than one version of your character- both in and out of costume, perhaps?

It’s entirely up to you, get wild with it- it’s all fair game, as long as your character’s story involves the prompt somehow!

Chaotic Crafters Design Challenge Rules

1: You cannot send a design you have already made before the challenge prompt! That defeats the purpose of the challenge.

2: For obvious reasons- no plagiarism. All designs MUST be made by you.

3: Do not criticize other people’s designs unless they specifically ask for it. If the artist does not ask for criticism, they likely do not want it.

4: Designs that are nsfw are allowed TO AN EXTENT.. This includes gore, artistic nudity, body horror, suggestive themes etc. This does NOT include explicit sexual content or anything intended to incite hate. Please make sure all submissions are tagged properly. Keep it calm and tasteful.

5: Both completely original characters and fan characters are allowed! You can make a character for anything as long as it follows the prompt.

6: You don’t have to make a complete reference for this challenge. You can do just a sketch or you can go all out and do a turnaround, or anything in between! Even if you don’t finish, we would love to see your work nonetheless. This is all about having fun- there’s no pressure!

7: When you post your designs, please tag this account and use the hashtag #chaoticcraftersdc ! That way we can see them, complement them, and share them!
