Dnd Homebrew Race for all those folks who love bats: BATLINGS! (aka CAMAZOTS!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batlings (Camazotz).
Batlings, also known as Camazotz (Cam-A-zots), are a race native to a newly discovered region of the underdark known as “The Hollow Barrons”.
Biology.
These diminutive people look like anthropomorphic bats. Resembling a mix of several bat species.
They stand roughly 2 to 3 feet in height and weigh in at the heaviest at around 30 to 50 pounds. Their fur can range from black, brown, red or white. Wing spans are up to 4 or 5 feet in length and are recorded to be quite silent flyers.
Batling Race Attributes.
Ability score increase: Dex +2. Char +1.
Age: Adulthood is around 18 years of age and they live up to 120 to 200 years of life.
Alignment: Batlings are naturally good-hearted and live by many laws however that does not mean an evil Batling cannot exist.
Size: Batlings are small.
Creature Type: Due to their strange origins Batlings are considered Fey.
Weight: 30 to 40 pounds.
Speed: on the ground Batlings have a 35ft walking and climbing speed however in flight they have a 45ft flying speed. Surprisingly Batlings are very capable swimmers.
Languages: Batlings speak undercommon, Sylven and Batling (called Zatza in their tongue).
Traits.
Nimbly Stout: have proficiency in athletics or acrobatics skills and can move through the space of any creature that is of a size larger than theirs.
Naturally Stealthy: They have proficiency with the stealth skill and can attempt to hide even when they are only obscured by a creature that is at least one size larger than they are.
Darkvision: Accustomed to the dankness and dimly light underdark, Batlings have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. They can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. Surprisingly they oddly can discern color in darkness.
Flight: Thanks to their wings, they can fly. However they can't use this flight if they're wearing medium or heavy armor.
Claws: Batlings can use their claws to make unarmed strikes. When they hit with them, the strike deals 1d6 + their dexterity modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Sanguivorous Bite: A Batling’s fanged bite is a natural weapon, which counts as a simple melee weapon with which they are proficient. They add their Constitution modifier, instead of their Strength modifier, to the attack and damage rolls when they attack with this bite. It deals 1d6 piercing damage on a hit alongside 1d4 bleeding. When they attack with this bite and it hits a creature that isn’t a Construct or an Undead, they can regain hit points equal to 1d8.
Grippy Hand-Feet: Batlings have a climbing speed equal to their walking speed. In addition they can move up, down, and across vertical surfaces and upside down along ceilings, while leaving their hands free. The Culture of the Batling is varied across the multiverse but in the original home plane of the Batlings they have a culture similar to old western american cowboys.

It never quite stopped baffling others; how she, by all accounts a century-old Lavrian, had supposedly been raised by the young Human man standing by her side - he appeared, according to all who noted such, only of suitable age to be one of her grandchildren.

Their bodies were almost identical - perfect mirrors of one another with just a single crack. The boy learned quickly how to erase the bloody mark on his face; he walked unmarred by the curse that had been forced onto the two of them. The girl - his absolute reflection, in all ways but one - did not.
