What a day. Had an old friend on the boat this morning with one of his friends. It was crazy still out there. Not a breath of wind. No current. Slick calm. Crystal clear water. It was too still. We caught a big trout, some sharks, some black bass, and some more sharks. It was a tough morning. Then after lunch the wind picked up a little, the tide turned and the hammers came out to play! This ole boy on my afternoon trip was from Louisiana, which always worries me because the redfishing is SO good down there. Well we wore him out with 12 giants and 6 sharks!And he caught his PB, a 41 inch toad! So. We did a thing. Mama @each1 hasn’t been on the boat or fished in over a year! So today, we took the time to hit em in the face in between storms. Another awesome day on the water. Absolutely beautiful weather for any month, especially December. 47 this morning to a high of 72. Fishing was a little slower with water temps rising 6 degrees from yesterday. We managed to catch a decent amount though. 57 trout and 16 reds today. And all but 5 fish on soft plastics. Mohammed em yesterday, and hammered out another great morning of trout fishing today. Just an insane bite. Limited out in the first hour and managed 54 total today which puts the two day total at almost 90! Stroked em to say the least. And, Christmas music is now playing on 102.5! Had a good trip today after a couple days off. Mike and his wife came down from NC because they saw me catching big bull reds with Mark Davis on @bigwateradventures. After 6 big bull bites, they said “can we go catch some we can eat?”. As y’all know, I don’t kill redfish. So we went inside to try and catch a few trout. We caught one trout. We coulda caught 30 or so giant reds if they had just toughed it out. They were chomping. Had another incredible day of bull redfishing today. Of course you know my favorite fish of the day was the absolute hammer of a jack that we caught. Took us 45 minutes. It was a red, then it was a shark, no it’s a ray, but it could be a jack. And a jack it was! Love the fight these fish put out! I’ll just say this. It’s been a VERY long time since I’ve seen a bull redfish bite like we saw this afternoon. I had one angler this morning and we managed 3 big reds and a really big shark. I was worried about the afternoon trip because the current just wasn’t moving like it should. I picked up my second trip and went back to the same spot we fished in the morning. The current was moving and the bait was everywhere. For two hours it was non stop action. We went 24 for 32 on some hammers! We had 4 fish over 42 inches! Then Mike and Abby needed more beers so we headed to Tolers to get some. Then we came back out to catch #25 for Abby!
