Remembering Martyrs
In February 1960, Esther John was brutally murdered in her bed in Chichawatni, Pakistan. Esther John was born in British-ruled India with the Indian name of Qamar Zia. After attending a Christian school, she accepted Christ as a teenager. When India was partitioned, Qamar moved with her family to Pakistan, where they pledged her to a Muslim husband. Qamar fled to another city, where she found a missionary who provided her with a Bible and a job working in an orphanage, and she changed her name to Esther John. After completing Bible training, she eventually moved to Chichawatni, where she lived with American Presbyterian missionaries. She took up evangelism among rural women, teaching them the Scriptures and working alongside them in the fields before she was killed. There was no investigation into her death, but she is still remembered today and is likely the first recorded martyr in Pakistan after the country gained independence from India.

chichawatni
Chichawatni city is the tehsil of sahiwal district and is located about 41 km from sahwail at multan bypass road. History of Chichawatni refers back to the British Raj. There are two references why this city is called Chichawatni.
First, this name was given by Maharaja Dahir. Secondly, a hindu family lived there whose names were Chicha (man) and Watni (his wife) name.
Nobody lives in present times who could exactly tell the reason of calling this city Chichawatni. chichawatni postal code is 57200 and chichawatni map shows it as a small city having a number of villages. Chichawatni to Multan distance is about 132.8 km and Harappa, a historical place, is about 23.9 km from Chichawatni. Lahore to Chichawatni travel is about 214 km and it takes 3 hours drive. Chichawatni weather is extremely hot in summer and usually it goes up to 46 degree centigrade. It’s big stations are Kassowal, Iqbal Nagar, Farid Nagar (90 Morr),  Okanwala Bangla, Gaziabad and Harappa.
Chichawatni tehsil is famous for its second largest jungle (chichawatni forest) after Changa Manga. Chichawatni Jungle, (Chichawatni forest), was planted by the prisoners in 19th century. There used to be a central jail in Chichawatni near kotla adeeb shahid forest.
Rai Murtaza Iqbal is the present Chichawatni MNA and he belongs to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI). He defeated his PMLN rivals Ch Tufail Jutt and Ch Hanif Jutt with the heavy lead of 26000 votes in chichawatni election 2018.
There are 3 provincial assembly constituencies in the city
PP200, PP201 and PP202. There is only one National assembly seat named NA-149 in Chichawatni. PMLN could only win one provincial seat in 2018 election from this city and that was in PP200.
Other renowned Chichawatni politicians are ch munir azhar prior mna, Ch Zahid Iqbal, Rai Hassan Nawaz, Ch Saeed Ahmad Gujjar, Malik Nauman Ahmad Langrial, Ch Arshad Jutt, Ali Javed, Rana Riaz Ahmad, Ch Waheed Asghar Dogar and Rai Azizullah.
In Chichawatni Rahmani, Rajput, Jatt , Arain , Butt, Sheikh , Malik , Ansari , Khokhar and other castes live with harmony.
Government Degree College Chichawatni was established in 1967 with the efforts of Sheikh Zaman, the father of Begum Shahnaz Javed.
Government M.C Model High School Chichawatni was established in 1916. DPS Chichawatni is the best private educational institure in Chichawatni. There are several other old institutions i.e. Punjab Group of Colleges, The Educators, Mission High School, Allama Iqbal College and the Dawn High School. Many Sikh temples are now working as primary and secondary schools in Chichawatni. Government Crescent College Chichawatni was also established with the efforts of Sheikh Zaman family and they paid for its land.
Chichawatni railway station was established in 1918. It was expanded with the passage of time. Especially in 2007 its new building was built.
There are some interesting historical references about Chichawatni. Its major colony Gaoshala was a grassland for the cows before the division of Hindustan. Gao means “the cow”. Shala is called to any place. So the Gaoshala means the place where the cows graze.
Halqa Arbab e Zauq Chichawatni is a famous literary society of Chichawatni which holds its meeting on every sunday atGovernment M.C Model High School Chichawatni.
Taj Mahal Chichawatni, greenland hotel chichawatni, Fresco Hotel Chichawatni and Gujjar hotel are its famous food points.
Chichawatni Buffalo Mandi (also known as Chichawatni Cattle mandi or Chichawatni cow mandi) is the second largest cattle market in Pakistan. Since 2014 it is given to the chichawatni cattle market management company. It is now become model mandi in gaushala chichawatni at chichawatni bypass.
For the latest chichawatni news you can visit four local websites. One is CHICHAWATNI NEWS in which you are reading this article. There is a documentary program in this website named Chichawatni Zero Km in which the history of chichawatni and its problems are covered
Secondly you can visit QLMDAN which is a political document of division Sahiwal.
Thirdly SAHIWAL NEWS is also getting good ranking for urdu news, sahiwal news, chichawatni news and Urdu columns.
There are a lot of historical buildings in Chichawatni. One of them is ‘Marri Building” which was the home of a Sikh family. Here is a complete documentary program about it. Other historical buildings will be soon included in this article.
Chichawatni local singers have a great talent but devoid of National level media attention. Listen a beautiful song by Muhammad Shabbir from Gaushala Chichawatni.
Chichawatni by election 2018 : Rai Murtaza Iqbal vacaned the MPA seat as he could only keep either MNA or MPA seat. So he decided to keep MNA seat and took oath.
His vacaned MPA seat in PP 201 became a battle field between two political families i.e Ch Tufail Jutt vs Samsam Bukhari.
Chichawatni by election held on Oct 14 and Syed Samsam Bukhari won the seat.
Tehsil Head Quarters Hospital Chichawatni is located near 45 Adda, Okanawala Road, Chichawatni. It’s old building is now TMA Chichawatni. It is upgraded yet lack of facilities and the staff is a comman complain.
A strange fact is that there used to be a brothel in the midst of thecity chichawatni punjab. Hindu and Sikh culture in chichawatni pakistan was replaced by the Muslims after the division of sub-continent.
Keep visiting this article as we’ll keep updating it with more and more information about Chichawatni.

POLITICIZATION OF WATER SHORTAGE SUBVERTS NATIONAL INTEREST: USMAN BUZDAR
LAHORE, May 26:
The Sindh government’s attitude over water distribution is unjustified and any politics over it is beyond national interest because the whole country is facing water scarcity.
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar said this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The chief minister stressed Punjab is not getting more than its share adding that Sindh has not served the country by politicizing the issue. In fact, there was no brouhaha when Sindh was continuously provided water during the sowing of crops, the CM continued. Raising objections by Sindh is improper when crops are being sown in Punjab, he said. Punjab has all the rights to use its water share according to the prevailing needs, the CM stated. Water is not a political but a technical issue that can be resolved through mutual consultations. It is improper to do politics over the water issue and we condemn levelling pointless allegations, concluded the CM.

New Post has been published on Trekking in Pakistan
New Post has been published on https://trek.pk/kamalia/
Kamalia
Tumblr media
Kamalia (Urdu/Punjabi: کمالیہ) is a city in the Toba Tek Singh District of Punjab, Pakistan. It is the administrative center of Kamalia Tehsil.[2] It is the 67th largest city of Pakistan by population and having the nearest cities like Rajana, Chichawatni, Pir Mahal.
Location
Kamalia is bounded in the South by River Ravi and Chichawatni, in the West by Pir Mahal, in the North by Rajana and Mamu-Kanjan, and in the East by Harappa and Sahiwal.
History
Kamalia is said to be existing even before the Alexander the Great. The legend suggests that Alexander tried to invade and win the then walled city (with used to exist some prehistoric name) in the morning when the people of the city opened its gate for a morning walk! Then the city was attacked and captured. But the conqueror moved on to some other places. Since the neighboring city Harappa is also prehistoric (but ruins now), so, it seems that Kamalia must be part of an ancient civilization who remained untouched from the wrath of the nature which could otherwise cause extinction. The old buildings amidst the “Iqbal Bazar” at the vantage point of the city, tell the story of a then progressive era.
The 1947 Partition caused the Sikh and Hindu population to migrate from the area with many of their hidden items still being found after ages. Some nobles even donated their properties to the trust of the Government. Government Praim Sati Trust (P.S.T) College is one of those properties; which is the only public (general-subjects) college in Kamalia other than the Government Technical College of Commerce.
A number of archaic and archaeological sites exist in Kamalia including Shamshan Ghat, Gurdawara and the ancient havelis with a grandeur.
Climate
The climate keeps changing with weathers. Summers are usually very hot and the temperatures may exceed 40 degrees, then comes Monsoon (Rainy season) with much closed environment and comparatively lesser rains as compared to the surrounding areas, then the Autumn with pleasant weather, then the Winters remain foggy and cold.
The most hazardous climatic threat to Kamalia is the flooding of River Ravi which is luckily a very rare phenomena.
Importance
Kamalia is famous for many things including the hand-woven or machine-woven cloth called “Khaddar”, poultry, sugarcane crop and not the least the Okra crop. Although the land is fertile and many other crops are also cultivated around the year which include Wheat, Cotton, Maze and Rice besides the “off-season” crops. Such variety of crops make it an important place for the Agriculture market. These crops are so much in abundance that many of these are exported to the other areas of the country. The Okra is dispatched across the country and even exported to Afghanistan. Whilst the poultry is also supplied to bigger cities like Lahore and Islamabad.
Dynamics
The people of Kamalia are mostly courteous and friendly. It is a very peaceful city with a minimal crime rate as compared to many other cities. The streets are mostly very narrow but surprisingly, this has increased closeness amongst the neighboring families who take care of each other through thick and thin.
Most of the people run their own micro-scale businesses including vendors selling in the main bazaars, the farmers, the commission agents at the agriculture and dry ration markets, and not the least; the owners and workers of the weaving machine units (looms).
Just like other areas of Pakistan, People are typically fond of politics. Pre-elections and the elections of every kind are enthusiastically participated in, with a handsome turnout. The local sports of Pigeon-keeping and kite-flying are also much liked. Rooftops are filled with pigeon-houses and kite-flying kits. The youth, by virtue of being Pakistani, are fond of Cricket. Although gone are the days when ample grounds including “Master-11” and others used to be heavens of the teens.
The availability of pure drinking water is yet another challenge. The city water table is getting lower gradually. But that is one issue. Fresh underground water is getting yellowish-brown and impure in more and more areas thereby making it inevitable for one to live comfortably.

Professional Shorthand Typing Course O3035530865 for Boys & Girls – Rawalpindi
Tumblr media
Professional Shorthand Typing Course O3035530865 for Boys & Girls – Rawalpindi Personal Shorthand, originally known as Briefhand in the 1950s, is a completely alphabetic shorthand. There are three basic categories of written shorthand. Best known are puresymbol (stenographic) shorthand systems (e.g., Gregg, Pitman). Because the complexity of symbol shorthands made them time-consuming to learn, a variety of newer, alphabetic shorthands were created, with the goal of being easier to learn– e.g., Speedwriting, Stenoscript, Stenospeed, and Forkner shorthand. These systems used normally written letters of the alphabet, but also some number of symbols, alphabetic characters changed in shape or position, or special marks for punctuation; and so they are more accurately described as hybrid shorthand systems. In contrast, Personal Shorthand uses only the 26 letters of the alphabet, without any special symbols, positioning, or punctuation, and it can therefore be written cursively, printed, typed, or even entered in a computer without special typefaces or graphics. Given years of practice, symbol shorthand writers could sometimes acquire skills of 150 or even 200 words per minute, which might have qualified them for demanding positions such as court reporting, typically dominated today by machine shorthands. Due to the extensive time necessary, few achieved such a level. Most symbol shorthand writers in secretarial positions wrote between 80 and 140 words per minute. Hybrid shorthand systems with higher symbol content generally could be written faster than those with fewer symbols. In common with most hybrid shorthands, Personal Shorthand cannot be written as fast as symbol shorthands. However, like some hybrids, learning time is drastically reduced. Students of Personal Shorthand can acquire a useful shorthand skill (50 to 60 wpm) in a single school term, compared to the year or more for symbol system students to reach that same level. Without the complexity of symbols to memorize and practice writing, Personal Shorthand theory is relatively simple. There are six Theory Rules. Slightly more than a hundred high-frequency business vocabulary words are represented by a single written letter known as a Brief Form ("a" for "about", "t" for "time", "v" for "very", etc.). High-frequency letter groupings within words ("g" for "-ing", "s" for "-tion", etc.), known as Phonetic Abbreviations, are also written with a single letter. In most Personal Shorthand textbooks, the entire Theory is presented in just ten lessons, after which review and practice can lead to writing speeds of 60 to 100 words per minute. Remembering Martyrs
Tumblr media
On February 2, 1960, Esther John was brutally murdered in her bed in Chichawatni, Pakistan.
After completing Bible training, she eventually moved to Chichawatni, where she lived with American missionaries. She took up evangelism among rural women, teaching them the Scriptures and working alongside them in the fields before she was killed. There was no investigation into her death. It is likely that Esther John was the first martyr in Pakistan after the country gained independence from British rule.

Toba Tek Singh
Tumblr media
Toba Tek Singh (Punjabi and Urdu: ٹوبہ ٹیک سنگھ‎) is a city and capital of Toba Tek Singh District in the Pakistani province of Punjab, ands it covering very famous cities like Rajana, Pir Mahal, Kamalia, Chichawatni, Shorkot.
History
The town and district are named after a Sikh religious figure Tek Singh. Legend has it that Mr. Singh a kind-hearted man served water and provided shelter to the worn-out and thirsty travelers passing by a small pond (“Toba” in Punjabi) which eventually was called Toba Tek Singh, and the surrounding settlement acquired the same name.
British Raj
Toba Tek Singh was developed by the British toward the end of the 19th Century when a canal system was built. People from all over the Punjab (currently Indian and Pakistani Punjab) moved there as farmlands were allotted to them. Most of the people who migrated there belonged to Lahore, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur District. The Imperial Gazetteer of India described the tehsil of Toba Tek Singh as follows:
Tahsil of the new Lyallpur District, Punjab, lying between 30°50′ and 31°23′ N. and 72° 20′ and 72°54′ E., with an area of 865 square miles (2,240 km2). The population in 1906 was 148,984. It contains 342 villages, including Toba Tek Singh (population,1,874), the headquarters, and GOJRA (2,589), an important grain market on the Wazirabad -Khanewal branch of the North-Western Railway. The land revenue and ceases in 1905-6 amounted to 4.7 lakhs. The tahsil consists of a level plain, wholly irrigated by the Chenab Canal. The soil, which is very fertile in the east of the tahsil, becomes sandy towards the west. The boundaries of the tahsil were somewhat modified at the time of the formation of the new District of Lyallpur”
Modern
During the 1970s, when many Pakistani cities were renamed to change names given after British Rulers to their original or native names or more acceptable names to local population – for example, Montgomery returned to its original name Sahiwal – Toba Tek Singh remained one of the very few cities to maintain its original name mainly because of reputation of Tek Singh. In 1982 Toba Tek Singh, formerly a subdivision, was separated from Faisalabad District and became a separate district.
Demography
Toba Tek Singh is located in central Punjab and occupies 3,252 square kilometers and is made up of large areas of lowlands that flood frequently during the rainy season; the floods originate from the Ravi River that runs along the southern and southeastern borders. The pre-partition T.T. Singh had a sizable Sikh population, much of which migrated to Punjab in modern India in 1947.
Agriculture
Toba Tek Singh is one of the best producers of oranges, locally known as kenno. It contributes towards export standard quality of oranges produced in all Pakistan. The majority of people living in this district work in agriculture and the region produces several kinds of agricultural and dairy products, including meat, eggs, cotton, maize, several pulses, peaches, guava, tomato, melon, water melon, mangoes, tobacco, onion.
