Sám So'n - Xuán Hòa: 93km

Na het ontbijt en een iets te lange babbel met het Poolse koppel, fiets ik even tot het strand. Vissers zijn bezig hun netten op te rollen, maar voor de rest is het daar niet echt speciaal.

Ik begin aan een tocht naar het binnenland, richting de Ho Chi Minh Road. Ook vandaag zijn weer vele winkeltjes en restaurantjes gesloten.

Op een marktje koop ik wat fruit en groentjes, maar enkele km's verder houdt een vrouw me tegen. Ze geeft me een hele tros bananen, mango's en dragonfruit. Wat een vrijgevigheid! Jammer dat ik zelf al zoveel fruit heb gekocht 😁.

Ik ben nog maar net weer vertrokken,wanneer een man mij roept. Ik houd halt en hij geeft me 2 blikjes frisdrank. Waar ga ik dat nog steken?

Na zo'n 55km begint de weg stilaan op en neer te gaan. Tijdens een kleine pauze, zit ik wat fruit te eten. Een man komt naast me zitten en vraagt vanwaar ik ben. Zodra ik België zeg, geeft ie een hele opsomming van onze Rode Duivels. Hij loopt even weg en keert terug met 2 biertjes. Ik drink normaal niet graag alcohol tijdens het fietsen, maar hier gaat het gezegde: " 'Nee' kan je wel zeggen, een 'ja' zulde krijgen!"

Ondertussen is het lichtjes beginnen regenen, ik doe m'n regenjas aan en trap door. Tijdens een klim komt er nog een scooter naast me rijden. Het meisje overhandigt me Chungcake, sticky rice met zoete aardappel of boontjes, en wat vlees. Ideaal om vanavond te eten. Zo hoef ik niet te koken in dit druile weer.

Het is even zoeken naar een plekje om te kamperen, maar ik volg een zandweggetje en weet een leuk plekje te vinden in een veld. De eerste nacht in de nieuwe tent. Het is koud en het regent lichtjes, meteen een goede test.
