MORE LATE NIGHT PRISON THOUGHTS WHILE I WAIT FOR RANBOO TO STOP STREAMING SO I CAN CATCH THE VOD
oh and this is all uh, /rp
so in one of sam’s many agreement books there’s a mention of the fact that if there was any problems regarding security, the visitor could potentially be locked up with the prisoner for up to 7 days. Initially i wrote this off as just like another thing that probably wouldn’t happen like all the mentions of possible death and injury. you know, when you’re hearing about the security measures for like an airplane trip, you don’t consider that they might actually happen (usually).
then I remembered Chekhov’s gun existed and i was like ‘oh yeah’. along with the fact that it is there in the story as a warning, there’s also like, so many cool things that could come from someone being potentially stuck in prison with dream for a few days.
it could provide insight to his character & what’s really going on inside his head (if the whole being sad is an act (which i don’t think it totally is), we’d get to see if he keeps it up when someone is constantly around, or if there’s anything beneath it). it could provide the fun plot elements of being locked inside a high security prison with no escape without the permanent inability to create varied content, and would let them get out without breaking the inescapability of the prison.
and now that i’ve rambled about the fact that i think x thing will happen, who do i think is gonna be stuck in there?
well, it needs to be someone who 1) has a relationship to c!dream (enough of one that it would make it interesting), and 2) would be able to create good content in the prison.
off the top of my head people who have enough relationship to dream are sapnap, tommy, ranboo, and possibly bbh? there are other ppl who might have a relationship to his character, but these are the ones who’s relationships are conflicted enough to make something like being stuck in prison with him interesting.
sapnap hasn’t really had a big Character Arc that i know of since the pet war, so i’m gonna say he probably won’t have one now? while he’s been doing the rp since back in the disc war, he hasn’t been super involved with the scripted stuff & anything in the prison would probably involve whatever plot dreams got written out rn
tommy’s arc seems to be pretty Over right now, and the most spending a really long time with dream would do is probably simmilar to things that tommy has already done in his character arcs. not to mention he probably wouldn’t do well with a stream that’s just sitting in a black box and talking.
bbh has his whole plot thing going on right now that’s pretty separate to the prison, and his opinions on dream seem to be not in a lot of conflict right now (he thinks dream deserves to be locked up for what he did, but he doesn’t think anyone should be subjected to conditions like that no matter what they did)
now ranboo, (who is streaming right now god i hope im not making any prophecies) (ok actually i am that would be so funny), ranboo is right in the middle of an arc that involves dream. he’s also, as far as i know, never even talked to the actual dream, so spending a lot of time stuck with dream would be a great progression of his current arc. not to mention the fact that a lot of ranboo’s lore streams have a lot of him talking to himself, in an obsidian box. so we know he’d probably be able to do a few streams inside pandora’s vault without running out of content
anyways thats my too long rambley theory for tonight

(re blogging cause tumblr comment feature hates me rn) I know that Wilbur is a dm and as a person who (while never dming an actual session of dnd myself cause the state od the world) has a lotta experience with how dnd and ttrpg writing works I can see a lot of that style of writing reflected in the s1 writing from what I know about the process?
Like, leaving situations up to chance & individual character outcomes while planning for the effects of all possibilities, focusing more on the plot driving character arcs rather than the other way around, character arcs being more reactionary.....
This is so off topic of what ops original post was about but I love thinking and talking about the differences in writing styles for season one and two and how s1s writing has clear influence from other improvisational forms of storytelling like ttrpgs whereas s2 takes a more traditional approach and how they both effect the plot
I just wanna know how much work wilbur put into the script- him saying he had multiple avenues planned out that no one knew about apart from him, his character sheets, etc. Even if s1 wasn't perfect it's absolutely bonkers in hindsight that he did almost everything
TRUEEEEEEE so true
So much of the SMP planning-wise is crazy to think about, from multiple avenues to physical blueprints and all the little twists and turns that weren’t part of the original plan. It’s really something special
Wilbur has such a fleshed-out idea of who all these different characters are and it’s the coolest thing. You know the DND alignment chart he did? I loved reading the different descriptions so much, it was like *mind-explosion moment* “God this makes so much sense”
I would love to see what he could do with all of the characters who’ve gotten more fleshed out in S2 and S3, all the newcomers who’ve made a mark for themselves since the S1 finale. Puffy, Ranboo, Bad, Sam, Antfrost, Ponk...like, bruh, what could Wilbur do with a Purpled arc?

Huh just had a thought that like. Even if c!dream got out of Prison, do you think he’d even be able to do nearly as much harm?

anyways late night analysis time thoughts on pandoras vault
im thinking about how while i did think dream would eventually end up as The PrisonerTM, there were a few other things i missed when thinking of theories? so i guess right now i am doing theories backwards. oh well
anyways i think a big thing i personally overlooked when thinking about the prison and who’d go in it was streaming? ie, there is very little content to be made in there. i can only think of maybe one cc who might be able to do multiple lore streams inside the cell, and even then it probably would take a lot of good storytelling to make it work more than once or twice.
and the fact that you can’t stream inside the prison really narrows down who could be put in there. because the person put in the prison not only needs to be able to not have to get content from the smp for however long they’re in there (a while), but they also need to be plot relevant to warrant being put in the prison. and off the top of my head, there’s only one person on the smp who fits the bill for that.
