Productivity of Students and their expenses in the lockdown amid Covid-19.

As the countrywide lockdown has affected the livelihood and lifestyle of many citizens irrespective of their classes, it also altered the productivity of scholars and their spending habits.

On the night of 24th March 2020, our Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced countrywide lockdown for 21 days, the lockdown get extended so on. The impact of the lockdown and outbreak of the pandemic Covid-19 is not only limited to country's national boundaries but has hit globally.

Introduction.

The lockdown in the amid Covid-19 has led to disruption in many sectors of the economy. One of the major sector which contributes about 54.40% in the G.D.P of the country is service sector. Closure of Educational Institutions, Schools, Universities amid Covid-19 has disbalanced the service sector and economy as a whole.

Government and many Educational Institutions have taken great and massive steps for the steady flow of learning process by organizing online classes and adding various courses from Secondary level to up to graduate level in apps like Swayam, Diksha, and NCERT E-pathsala.

Likewise various international educational institutions and educational platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and edX etc. have upgraded and uploaded their courses and curriculum online for the uninterrupted learning process, optimal utilisation of time, enhancing the knowledge, and for learning and improving the skills required in a certain specific area.

Findings.

Despite of all the efforts by the Government and Educational Institutions, the productivity of students have not been elecrated much in the lockdown.

While the good performers have been constant in their routine in the lockdown, there's a change acknowledged in the other scholars' routine. Early birds has turned up into night owls, and bibliophiles into bingewatchers.

Now, coming into studies, 66.7% students claimed studying and opening their books during the lockdown.

The students who used to study 3- 4 hours prior lockdown have claimed studying 1-2 hour during the lockdown. “The study time is now the time of playing games and watching series during the lockdown", stated by a university student.

From a data, it is estimated that 55.6% scholars have learnt a skill or two and about 38.9% are on the way to it during the lockdown

The dean of IIT Roorkee, who recently launched an advance certification online course on deep learning in association with US-Based CloudXLab, has said that, “Technology continues to advance rapidly and this is perhaps the best time to learn new technologies or skills".

Coming into students spending habits in the lockdown amid Covid-19.

Lockdown has affected the spending habit of the country as a whole. From scholars to servicemen all have curbed the money and contracted the spending. From a online survey conducted through Google Form, it is reported that scholars have cut their spending by almost 88%. Students who used to spend approximately 8,000 a month have spent less than 1,000 during the pandemic. Food and Beverages are the only major consumed item by the students during the lockdown.

Conclusion.

The pandemic has affected the lives of every citizen so far. The productivity have been hampered, and the worst recession of the decade is going to hit.

Amid the Covid-19, the productivity of students in academics have diminished but keen on learning skills is a good thing to look to be. Students have cut down on their expenses and have spent only on food commodities during the lockdown.
