allies need to remember that they’re *allies* sometimes oh my god. like don’t guilt a queer person for not participating in every single queer thing to ever be happening. like, please, set up your pflag chapter and do your thing but don’t treat your queer kid like they’re a fucking homophobe or something just because they don’t have the energy to participate in a support group any day :/

#to be specific this is my parents but it's like.#cmon now. im glad youre doing important ally stuff and helping make change in the community but like #i haven't exactly forgotten what it was like before. yknow?#like the outright hostility when i casually mentioned i was pan to my dad in middle school. GOD that day sucked #like the talking over and yelling and shit about that not being a real thing #only for him to apologize the next day when he was proven wrong like #eegh. or when i came out as trans and the just. YEARS it has taken #like i'm glad you've changed and are doing good things but like #you *stepped into this.* you could easily not have any involvement w that activism in a SECOND if you wanted to #but like. i get to wrestle w the politicization of my entire existence *every day.* and like YES i want to be supporting others in my commun #community* but like right now i need to take care of *myself* which is a struggle in and of itself #like he was being RIDICULOUS just now #and like the thing about this is like. im so glad theyre starting a chapter but i feel like pflag is one of those things that like #idk i'd be much more comfortable in like. not the same support group as my parents because we need different kinds of support.#and i want to offer support but right now i just want to be in bed and not overheat
