❝ You! ❞
[Vanessa broke into a sprint at the mere sight of the rabbit; her suspicions had been linked to this costumed weirdo ever since she first glimpsed them out of the corner of her eye, way back when these disappearances first started. It all had to be connected. Bunny shows up, people start vanishing -- that's not just a coincidence, right? And now she finally had her chance to prove it, so long as she could catch up. She just needed to pursue this intruder, whoever it was, and find out who they were -- then she would have her answer!]
❝ Don't think I didn't see you! Stop where you are, now! ❞

{ㅤㅤㅤㅤ(ㅤㅤㅤㅤThe   chase   was   what   made   it   fun.   Vanny’s   heart   ached   and   burned   as   she   raced   past   neon,   over   topped   bins   and   planters.   She   giggled,   excited   to   get   to   the   action   once   she   had   the   woman   where   she   wanted   her…
Tumblr media
Her   anticipation   shattered   as   she   was   sent   stumbling   forward.   Even   through   the   mask,   she   could   feel   the   hard   tile   against   her   cheek.   The   woman   had   grabbed   her.   ❝   No!   Get   off   of   me!   ❞   Vanny   growled,   twisting   her   body   in   an   attempt   to   kick   the   guard   off.   ❝   You   ruined   it!   It   was   supposed   to   be   fun   and   you   cheated!   ❞ㅤㅤㅤㅤ)ㅤㅤㅤㅤ;ㅤㅤㅤㅤ}
[She'd done it -- holy shit, she'd actually done it!]
[Vanessa's heart thudded, both from the exercise and anticipation, as she kept the rabbit pinned; she had the advantage now, but she needed to be cautious. She couldn't let her get away now. This was likely the perpetrator behind countless disappearances, and she finally had her in her clutches -- as much as she wanted to unmask her now, leaving the mystery behind, it would be too reckless. Did she have anything to restrain her beforehand, aside from...y'know, her own body weight?]
[Alas, being the security guard at a kid's restaurant left her woefully unequipped to deal with an actual crisis -- she'd have to improvise.]
Tumblr media
❝ Yeah, yeah. You realize you're using the same logic as five year-olds who lose at Fazer Blast, right? ❞ [Vanessa rolled her eyes, then grabbed the costumed fiend's arm, pulling both herself and the rabbit up. Her grip was iron; if Vanny wanted freedom, she might lose an arm in the process. She'd come too far to lose her suspect now.] ❝ You're coming with me. ❞
[Once her villain was detained, then she'd see who was under that mask. She just needed to demonstrate some self-control until then.]

As if Vanny would listen to her prey. She was the one in control. The rabbit woman only sped up at her command, breaking into a sprint with a laugh of garbled static.  “Catch me if you can, nightguard!” She called, looking over her shoulder without a change in expression. The same grin as always.

[Of course it wouldn’t be that simple.]
[Vanessa grumbled under her breath, but she was determined -- the bunny wouldn’t be getting away that easily, not this time. Not under her diligent eye. There had been too many close calls, too many missed opportunities; this would be her moment, she could just FEEL it.]
[She pushed herself, farther and farther, their chase having stretched across a good portion of the atrium; a number of obstacles had been vaulted over, chairs knocked over, decorations toppled, but it was worth it for this pursuit. She was so close. And what now? Well...]
[She’d have to take a risk; the rabbit would escape from any other grip, she was positive of it. They were just within touching distance -- if Vanessa reached out, she could probably tear out some of the costume’s fur. This was her chance. She braced herself, then leapt out at the costumed weirdo, aiming to tackle her; if her aim was on-point, then she’d FINALLY have captured the menace. If not, well...]
[...Ugh. She’d have a lot of catching up to do.]
