hands laced together, almost gingerly - as though with too much strength one could shatter in an instant, as the moon peeked through the satin curtains of each and every window. the room, barely illuminated thanks to the limited candles and glowing visions, echoed with the soft music from a phonograph's vinyl record and footsteps. the floor's faint reflection of soft blue and red lights was more than enough. for once, marianne smiled. it was in moments like this where she felt she could ever do so - to smile, to be herself... to love, and be loved. and for once, the darknight hero - or rather, the uncrowned king of mondstadt, could rest easy, even for a brief moment. but nonetheless sleepless souls hold each other close, unspoken love conveyed through chaste kisses on the crown of marianne's head, or chaste kisses on diluc's cheeks - ah, if only a moment this quiet and tender could last for much longer... at the very least, marianne was more than content with this, even as a hushed i love you is spoken in a single breath.

"..." well, now she didn't want to go back to bed. not after hearing diluc's answer. "... these nightmares... they can't keep going on forever, you know," marianne quietly replies, clear she wasn't going to give up until she knew for sure that whatever was on diluc's mind was put at ease. instead, she shuffles closer, hesitantly a hand gingerly resting on his shoulder. eyes as dark as the dirt beneath their feet look to diluc with brows furrowed in worry - eyes were a gateway to the soul, after all... were they not? "please, diluc - talk to me. whatever you have that's on your mind... let it out."
