I went to school before the advent of makeup youtube, so here is a short list of products I used while growing up:

1. Covergirl Clean Foundation. Specifically the one with the blue cap, I think it was for oil control. I was suffering from pretty serious acne most of the time, and I was sure the “clean” foundation was the best I could do in that department - I also saw Taylor Swift advertising the product on the back of a Cosmopolitan magazine. 

2. Covergirl Clean Pressed Powder. Also the blue one - they matched, so I assumed they would work best together. I remember loving the look of the thing, loving the sharp edges of the compact. I thought it was so much sleeker than the round-edged compacts I grew up watching my mom use.

3. Maybelline Dream BB Fresh. When I wasn’t wearing the Covergirl Clean foundation, I was wearing this. My best friend Rachel used it at the time, so of course I did too. 

4. Maybelline Coverstick in Ivory or Green. Liquid concealers did not exist to me and my friends at the time. It wasn’t a concealer unless it came in a lipstick container and applied in a thick streak. I remember making out with my boyfriend the day before a family trip to Ohio and frantically applying the stuff in a gas-station bathroom to the necklace of hickeys I had gotten.

5. Almay Intense i-Color Eyeshadow Trio for Brown Eyes. I remember receiving a lot of compliments on my eyeshadow whenever I wore this. I had read in a Seventeen that purple eyeshadow looks best on brown eyes, and I treated it like a religion. This pallette had a brown shimmer at the base, a lavender shimmer in the center, and a matte highlight shade on top. I repurchased it at least four times.

6. Almay Liquid Liner in Black. This eyeliner was the most unique I could find. I hated the brush-tip liners, they always got all over the place when I tried to line my eyes. I hated a crayon after my bout of raccoon eyes in middle and early high school (we will get to that product). So this sponge-tip applicator was the solution to every problem.

7. Maybelline Modern Metallics Eyeshadow in Golden Halo. I had also read that gold eyeshadow looks best on brown eyes, so of course the very next day I went to the Rite Aid by my house and picked up a single eyeshadow to rub on my eyes with a sponge tip applicator.

8. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Custom Glow Bronzer. Again with the products promising “healthy skin” - I was desperate. At the time blush was not too popular - instead we got our glows from tanning beds and THIS bronzer. I applied it just like I would a blush: right over the cheekbones.

9. Covergirl Outlast Lipstain. Now, I can’t remember the exact shade of this lip stain, but I do remember the day I got it. My best friend was buying makeup with her mom at Target and I had tagged along, and her mom let me pick out something fun. I applied this constantly. It was a little marker with a felt tip, and I miss it everyday. I can still taste the stuff.

10. Covergirl Lashblast. THIS mascara - this little orange tube. It is so iconic, so reminiscent of its time. And I think it’s still available. The little hard plastic bristles were unforgiving when I would bash them into my eyeball while trying to apply mascara in the passenger seat of my dad’s car on the way to school.

I’m not sure if that’s everything - but if it isn’t, I’ll just add to the list in an edit.

Monster masks: what is your makeup/morning routine? Girls in Australia don’t wear as much make up as Americans. A lot don’t wear any. With the lockdown, I’ve been lazy and often don’t do anything. If I’m going out, I wash my face with a face washer/flannel with just water and moisturise. I’ve never used cleansers. These day the most makeup a put on is coverstick if I need it and lipgloss because my lips get dry. When I worked, I wore coverstick, medium brown eyeshadow, mascara and lipgloss (I always eat lipstick off and would forget to apply before meetings, so I rarely bothered!). Very minimal look.

Cinnamon: what are your favourite spices? The spice I use the most (aside from black ground pepper) is paprika. I’m hopeless with (hot) spicy foods, but paprika give a nice kick without being too much for me. I also use cinnamon and nutmeg. And a little garlic salt tat times to cover both garlic and salt! 😆 If you want herbs, I use basil the most - love it! Also mint, rosemary, chives, lemon tyme, sage and parsley - all of which I have growing in my garden (except basil at the moment because it’s a summer herb).

Books: what was the last book you read? The last book I’ve completed was digital, Clash of Lines, by Meyari McFarland - an MM book. And in the Chapters app, Once Perfect by Cecy Robson.

I just discovered your blog and I love you cosplay! I’m planning on getting an England cosplay for Christmas and I was wondering if you had any suggestions on where I should get my cosplay? Where do you get yours, and what make up do you use(if any)?

So I actually got my cosplay off of CosplayFu like 5 years ago and it held up VERY well. It’s a reasonable price too. :)

As for makeup I actually am EXTREMELY pale. It’s very hard to find foundation for me, especially since my Italian background gives me a very slight yellow tint rather than a common pink.

• Foundation - Revlon (target. Long lasting, not cakey, doesn’t cause me to break out)• Setting Powder - Nyx transparent powder (target)• Contour powder- I honestly can’t say. I’ve had it years but I think it’s Bare Minerals• Highlight (again I’m pale so this is legit white) - Revolution Strobe Highlighter (Ulta Beauty)• Eyebrow Pencil - Dark Brown (elf - target)• Concealer - Maybelline Coverstick (target)• Lips - Nyx in Shy Matte (Ulta Beauty)

The total usually ends up around 50$ but it lasts a year when you use it daily :3

W7 'COVERSTICK WITH TEA TREE OIL' did this to my face. I look like a leper. Don't use this shit! It made my skin blister and peel away and then turn red and raw. It doesn't itch but it hurts/stings like a motherfucker.
