Crane doesn't have a good relationship with her Apa, they actually fight very often.

Rarely verbally, as Crane stutters too much to speak when stressed or angry.

Crane is selective mute, and can only really speak to others she sees as family.

When she does speak, she often comes across as rude or sassy. She means no harm, though, and her family knowns this for the most part.

She sees the world very differently than others, this is a “gift” from the Rift. A mutation meant to further survival chances. (It's not helping at all)

She's not born in the Rift, which means Takers have a higher chance of actively seeking her out to kill.

Crane has no clue that her way of seeing the world isn't the way everyone else sees it, she's actually very concerned that nobody seems to freak out like she tries not to do.

She's very close to her aunt Silk.

She's the oldest of Soot's children, she feels that burden heavy on her shoulders, especially because they don't get along, but she still wants to prove herself to them.

Crane has chronic pain in her hips and back-leg joints, not anything debilitating, but she still takes any chance to sit down rather than standing or walking.
