CROB: Obtaining and Upgrading Cookies & Pets

⚙️ As of March 14th, 2023, the primary method of unlocking new Cookies and Pets has changed. Now, instead of running numbers against an RNG-based treasure chest, you’re going to use Trial Star Candies to unlock new Cookies.

FAQs

How do you get Trial Star Candies?

⚙️ Cookie Trials, duh! You get them as you reach given score ranks. Hard Mode has them too, and there’s no timer or anything to collect them before they expire unlike New Cookie Cups which expire about a month later.

What happens when I get enough Trial Star Candies?

⚙️ You unlock the Cookie AND the Pet for free.

What if I already have a Cookie or a Pet that I’ve just met the unlock condition for?

⚙️ You still keep your collection as it is. Only the ones you DON’T have are on the unlock track.

Cookie Trials? What about the ones where I got some high scores before the 3/14/23 update?

⚙️The Trial Star Jellies for ranks you already got are retroactively added to your progression. If this total exceeds the benchmark for unlocking a Cookie, you’ll get one copy of the Cookie and Pet in your mailbox.

There’s a new Cookie I really want, but I don’t have enough Trial Star Candies! What now?

⚙️ Buy whatever you want with Crystals, duh! Every other goal-based unlock restriction is gone (obtaining select Cookies, reaching affection levels, Escape Levels, etc), but you can play in a lot of events and other modes to get them for free. The unlock cost in Crystals is the same for all Cookies of a rarity, but higher rarities cost a LOT more. See these prices for Cookies/Pets respectively. If you have a Cookie Unlock Ticket or Pet Unlock Ticket, you can use that to unlock any Cookie/Pet that’s Epic rarity or lower without spending Crystals.

So Special Cookies… are they unavailable?

⚙️ YEP! Hello Kitty, Mimmy, Coffee Cookie, and Cookiedroid are not part of this. If you really want Cookiedroid that bad, go to the Google Play Points Store! If you’re just realizing that Hello Kitty collaborated with Devsisters in 2018, TOUGH BISCUITS! THEY’RE NOT AVAILABLE.

Do Cookies and Pets share the same unlock conditions?

⚙️ Yes, most Cookies and their Combi Pet share the same Trial Star Candy unlock requirement. Unpaired or secondary Legendary Pets will have their own unlock requirement. Certain events and shop offers may award copies of Cookies or Pets for free, including ways to unlock them instantly.

Alright, I have a Cookie. If the Chests are gone, how do I upgrade them?

⚙️ There are four ways:

Use Cookie Potions to gain the necessary copies

Gain the copies through gameplay and events

Spend Crystals to buy the needed copies

Buy the desired copies in any game shop, including the Package Shop

These methods also apply to Pets, which have their own Pet Potions. Legendary Cookies and Pets use Legendary Cookie/Pet Potions. Special Cookies and Pets use Special Cookie/Pet Potions (if for some reason you still had Special Spirit Potions when the 3/14/23 update happened).

Crystals to upgrade? How much per copy? And how much would it cost me to max out one Cookie not counting the Magic Candy?

Crepe Archives Master Post: The Tutorial Process of “Cookie Run: Kingdom”

⚙️ Since Meringue went on the ball with a new alt for OvenBreak to help fill in some holes in the data and to help accumulate more from a fresh slate, he’s doing one for Kingdom too! CROB Master Post: Technical License

Release Date: 1/29/23

⚙️ The Technical License mode is a tutorial mode accessible from the “Escape Level” menu and serves as another hands-on experience in the game itself, as compared with exterior sources and guides.

Each license is divided into multiple stages with varying missions that MUST be completed before you move into your final test.

Complete the final test, and the license is yours. You’ll get a Title and a score bonus that combines with your other Escape Level bonuses after completing a license entirely! Each stage also has bonus rewards for completing each one.

This bonus is only valid in game modes that allow Escape Level bonuses and will not be valid in Guild Run until the end of the “Operation: Time Fixers” season (2/11/23)

What’s in it?! Basically everything you’ve just GOTTA know about Earthbread in this day and age, those other Cookies included, packed neatly into one comprehensive Tumblr blog. If you’ve seen the Editor’s work with the Baker’s Street Newsblog, I was there for it! I came on day one and gave my share, and now it’s time for ME to take the spotlight! Anything that appears here can get reblogged back there, and anything there worth saving can get reblogged RIGHT BACK HERE!

Yep. Editor DerpyToad of the Baker’s Street Newsblog reporting in as the actual writer behind BOTH blogs and probably several more. Sometimes the other online sites and wikis with CR stuff are too deep to wade through and not everyone uses them, so why not pack the relevant stuff into a Tumblr blog instead? It’s semi-low tech and allows me to work with it with ease. It also increases accessibility to anyone that uses Tumblr too. You’ll meet my assistant somewhere in the future, he’s met Crepe before and the two are on good terms.

Kakao? No, the Editor would have to jump through SEVERAL hoops and translators to download and decipher everything there.

Cookie Wars? Of course not! They already locked that apocalyptic moment down with their steampunk machinery and some dark amethyst, thanks to some Cookie in a city of wizards and a curious-looking chimera. If you want to see the cache I found, click here.

Master Post: Cookie Run: Ovenbreak

⚙️ Cookie Run: Ovenbreak could be considered to be Devsisters’ flagship title, having premiered on October 26th, 2016. If you’ve never heard of it, you’ll ask yourself “What is THAT?!” As the operator here, let me tell YOU what that answer is. It’s an endless 2D side-scrolling platforming gacha game that’s about Cookies running. It originally followed Gingerbrave’s adventures while escaping the Oven, but times have seriously changed since Mr. Ordinary’s first steps out.

Epic Cookies are essentially the dough and strawberry jam that make up the grander majority of the playable Cookie roster due to the roster’s frequent additions- as well as buffs and monetization through packages- every few weeks. They have comparably powerful skills and usually have relevance SOMEWHERE in the Cookie Run lore, but each new Epic Cookie that gets added to the game is often designed to powercreep the one before it until new (and potent) buffs keep them relevant in the competitive meta. In select game modes however, usually PvE but sometimes PvP, select Epic Cookies hold their relevance for a very long time because of the way their skillset was built.

Super Epic Cookies are few and in-between since the rarity’s introduction to Kingdom in the “Council of Heroes” update on May 3, 2022. Each one is often accompanied with a Super Epic Gacha event that makes it easier to meet the associated Cookie before they are otherwise relegated to the normal gacha and the Medal Shop. Their unique skillsets usually make them more powerful than an Epic Cookie, and while they are listed below Ancient and Legendary Cookies in terms of power, they can still prove themselves in clearing various PvE modes with ease. The fact that the rarity is rated below Ancient and Legendary means that teams of four or five Super Epic Cookies can exist in Kingdom Arena and Super Mayhem with impunity… but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should do that unless you have a foolproof plan and took the time to run the numbers. The fact that they’re above the Epic rarity forces them to comply with Epic+ Cookie restrictions in the Tower of Sweet Chaos.

Although they aren’t that close to godhood, they keep and protect the Soul Jam bestowed upon them as they once led their kingdoms a long time ago. Since the Dark Flour War however, things haven’t been the same. That doesn’t mean they aren’t absolutely powerful though! Ancient lore dictates that there are ONLY FIVE canonical Ancient Cookies in Kingdom as an exclusive rarity. Each of these five Cookies leads a kingdom and wields mastery in their own combat style fostered by their respective home kingdoms, and even though they fought together, the 3-Ancient/Legendary/Dragon Cookie restriction imposed by Kingdom Arena and Super Mayhem forbids it in those modes. Even though they’re mainly friends, and even if they sometimes end up at wit’s end with each other, I have evidence to confirm that one of them may have caused the Dark Flour War…

Dragon Cookies are a select few Cookies that were- obviously- DRAGONS. Although this is essentially grouped with the Legendary rarity in OvenBreak, this Kingdom-exclusive rarity was introduced on May 16th, 2023 ahead of the “Legend of the Red Dragon” update to discern the Dragons from other legendary factions such as the Ancients and Legendaries themselves. Being at a comparable power level as other similar Cookies, they are still subject to the 3-Cookie limit in Kingdom Arena.

NPCs, Residents, and Guest Cookies are a special kind of Cookie/Character, as they are not playable in their respective games. Certain NPCs might be playable in one Cookie Run game and unavailable in the others, or just unplayable altogether. The Guest Cookies, on the other hand, are specifically created to be NPCs that you can meet through a limited-time gacha in Kingdom. They can visit and roam around your kingdom at will and act as your chosen Cookie in Kingdom’s Guild Domain.

Maybe you want to get your friends or yourself to play the game despite Devsisters’ shortcomings. Or maybe you want to see what the tutorial’s like as of late. Crepe Archives Master Post: Brixity

⚙️ Brixity is a NEW game pitched by Devsisters on August 24, 2023 that takes place in the year 2537. Yeah, really. That’s the canonical year. You take on the role of a first-year student at the Brix Academy who is REALLY good at assembling new structures together with Brix and Creative Energy. After helping a rather… “unskilled” third-year student named Cosmo and a robot companion named ALRO build a spaceship as part of the class’s final exam on humanity’s new civilization on Mars, you’re headed for Earth with them as part of the Earth Restoration Program. From here, you’ll build your own city and explore an abandoned landscape. Hostile to live in now, but Brix combined with Creative Energy can create Healing Essence that can restore the planet!

As this is a new game and Lemon-Lime Meringue Cookie is going through the opening stages from the ground up, this master post will NOT be the most organized as of right now and new details will be added whenever. Crepe Archives Master Post: Cookie Run: Puzzle World

⚙️ Cookie Run: Puzzle World is Devsisters’ attempt to join the Match-3 craze held by juggernauts like Bejeweled and Candy Crush, as well as smaller clickbait upstarts like Homescapes, Gardenscapes, Royal Match, and Toon Blast. This is also the only game in the series that is dedicated to a portrait-oriented UI instead of landscape like every other game. Ovenbreak is not truly portrait; although it plays with the vertical orientation on your phone, it still has the horizontal UI, making it harder to play and navigate menus as a whole.

While this game plays fundamentally similar to its Match-3 compatriots, Puzzle World has gone by two prior names before they settled on the title of Puzzle World. In closed beta tests before launch in 2019, the game was known as “Cookie Run: Jelly Pop” and then “Hello! Brave Cookies” in November of 2019. By January 12th, 2020, the game was unintentionally released on iOS and quickly retracted, but formally released on all mobile platforms on January 16th. They finalized their title on “Cookie Run: Puzzle World” on July 26th in an update that ran parallel with the launch of their second season. This is also one of the only live games in the series that does not rely heavily on gacha magichanics in order to meet Cookies, but Pets still fall under such a restriction.

Despite this game being teased since 2017, it has gone for a very long time without a proper update. Heck, this game hasn’t been updated after MY release update in Kingdom in April 2021! The only reason why this Master Post exists is because the game is still live, but its status could be described as limbo, especially so since any Discord channels on the official Cookie Run Discord server were closed from view.

Master Post: Pets

⚙️ Pets are companions which follow your Cookies in Cookie Run: Ovenbreak and Cookie Run: Puzzle World, usually split into four different rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. There are a few Special Pets that exist, but they are mostly the result of collaborations that haven’t happened since 2020. Some of them have abilities that are just better than others, but the Epic category is ALWAYS updated monthly. A new entry occasionally appears in the Legendary category, but we haven’t received a new Common or Rare Pet for at least four years. In a combi of two Cookies for something like Trophy Race, only one Pet is required. In MOST cases, the Cookie that the Pet is paired with is of the same rarity. The exceptions are unpaired Legendary Pets and the five Dragon Cookies.

Posts on Pets in CROB and CRPW will appear here as they’re posted and will USUALLY follow a Cookie’s profile post, complete with scores, abilities, backstories, Costumes, and combi bonuses. They will be sorted in alphabetical order for convenience. Request Pets you want prioritized or edited in the ask box.

Master Post: Cookie Run: Kingdom

⚙️ Released on January 21st, 2021, Cookie Run: Kingdom is Devsisters’ take on a role-playing game that combines a deep story with equal parts destructive combat and emotion, and an open-ended city builder complete with its own economy used to expand your kingdom’s territory while also providing supplies to boost your gacha-reliant combat team. While often teased even before Jelly Pop (Puzzle World’s former title) was released with plenty of things changed between beta and final, the game itself is still quite large and demands just as much storage in your device as Ovenbreak does. I’d say… somewhere between 3 and 4 Gigabytes. It’s also graphic-heavy, so crashes might be imminent if your device can’t handle it.

Upgrade your castle, expand your kingdom, engage in battle with simple 2-5 button controls, destroy anything that gets in your way, greet a LOT of Cookies (although none of them could possibly be as smart as me, Strawberry Crepe Cookie), and analyze a deep story that involves five Ancient Heroes and Cookiekind’s engagement against the forces of Darkness.
