i love (sort of hate) when people are like, collectively convinced of a powerful emotion being displayed by an animal that is just like... doing nothing unusual. looking very normal

almost always it's expression-related, and like, a lot of animals DO emote, but the vast majority of them don't do so the same way we do

there's a long conversation constantly going on about the inherent danger of anthropomorphizing animals and how it feeds into the care (and punishment) we give them, and how companies like the dodo are doing way more harm than good to animal kind by humanizing them they way they do

and yet. "look at the face my dog gave me when i said she couldn't have my food" paired with a photo of a dog that is just sort of passively existing is, hands down, one of the funniest fucking things in the entire world

Have you considered making an Aethy account and crosspost there? A lot of proship people are starting to jump off the Tumblr boat because they keep getting their accounts deleted, and from the little time I've been there it seems to be a really proship friendly community. The downside is that there's no app for it and imo a bit hard to get used to.

I've been told about Aethy, and I think I'll go ahead and do that. Thanks for the nudge! I'll still be present here for the now.
