(2023) TickleTober Day 3 - Full Moon

Fic Descript - Full moons are a difficult time for Klaus, but luckily his older brother remembers the best way to help him relax

~A/N  - Hi!

With the ~great success~ (/s) of my tickletober last year (2023), I've decided to try and catch up on a few days throughout October this year (2024).

THESE WILL BE SHORT - like probably a few hundred words short. Just so I can get through them all plus my regular TT fics this time around.

The days before the full moon always meant Klaus was in for a rough ride - and no matter how much he prepared himself for it, it never failed to knock him off his feet.

It was like every system in his body was simultaneously at two ends of the extremes. He was exhausted, while full of unbearably hyperactive energy. He was awfully aware of every inch of his skin, but it didn't feel like his own. His bones ached, yet felt invincible. And he felt so, so defeated by it all.

For the most part, he hid his weakness well - using bursts of anger and frustration when anyone came close to realising just how tired he was. But he couldn't keep up the ruse forever. It was killing him. And so, under the cover of darkness (when he assumed everyone would be asleep), he silently fell apart.

It was one of these nights that Elijah happened to stumble across him. Slumped against the window, his arms pressed against his head, quivering. It was one of the rare moments that Klaus looked as helpless, innocent, and soft as when he was a child - and for a moment Elijah had no idea what to do.

But, as if on cue, a memory plucked itself from the furthest corners of Elijah's mind. It wasn't often he was able to remember any positive childhood nostalgia, especially regarding Klaus, but it almost seemed more impossible that he could have forgotten something as important as this.

Without a word, Elijah knelt down next to his brother and gently pulled Klaus towards him. He truly was expecting some sort of protest, Klaus tensing his muscles, snapping out a threat, anything... But his brother just fell into his lap and looked up with those weak, scared eyes - unsure but desperate for Elijah to help him.

"May I?" Elijah whispered calmingly, hoping Klaus would catch on to his plan and relax a little.

But there was no response. Klaus just stared, waiting. So, Elijah made his best judgement, and decided to begin regardless.

He began to run his fingers along Klaus's stomach, and it only took a few seconds before it seemed like his brother had realised what his plan was. For the first time in almost a week, Klaus's face twitched into a bashful smile. Elijah couldn't help but grin in response - making Klaus hide his face behind his hands with a chuckle-y groan.

"Pleased to see this still works for you Niklaus." Elijah hummed genuinely. "And that you're still just as ticklish as when we were younger."

"I'll ehend yohou..." Klaus tittered, but did nothing to fight against his brother's fingertips that were now tracing shapes around his lower ribs.

The constant tingling sensation seemed to set his brain back to normal. It was just enough stimulation to tire him out, without completely overwhelming him. The only part of his body that he could pay any attention to was the parts getting the tickly attention from his brother. It was enough for his mind to latch on to, without filling it with racing thoughts.

And, of course, it was coming from his older brother. One of the few people in the world he felt he could truly trust.

Maybe full moons wouldn't be so bad after all.
