Welcome to the Fireside

Once a humble coffee shop nestled in the heart of a great free company, The Fireside was the go-to place for members of Firelight Trading Company looking for a bite to eat after a long mission. Realising its potential as both a meeting place and a means of capital, its proprietor expanded the business throughout the various city-states of Eorzea until The Fireside became synonymous with coffee, company and great food; sourly needed after the anguish of The Final Days. Now, patrons old and new can gather to enjoy the hospitality and cosy atmosphere these avenues provide.

Welcome to The Fireside! This establishment was made to focus on the creation and fostering of late-night/oceanic roleplay. Though physically located in Balmung/Crystal's Shirogane, the Fireside's expansion into almost all the city-states creates a space where your character can walk in from almost anywhere, and our focus on a coffee-shop with a laid-back atmosphere encourages off-the-cuff, casual roleplay that can turn into more.

LFRP - Faye Covington - Crystal DC

Hello! I am a long time FFXIV RPer looking for more RP for my main, Faye Covington (though I have a slew of alts we can have some fun with, as well), a noblewoman and mage hailing from the Twelveswood where she runs a teahouse which doubles as a front for an information brokering business. Feel free to check out her carrd above for full details! Ideally, I’d like to delve into the more exciting things–drama, mystery, intrigue, tension, conflict, combat, adventure, horror, DMed events, dark and mature stuff, storydriven RP and the like! Maybe even some romance later down the line if things click that way. I definitely also enjoy casual, social, slice-of-life, and tavern RP, but I expect that will fall into place along the way!

I am looking for…

In Game RP - I enjoy Discord RP sometimes, but I’d like to do some RP in game and establish a rapport for our characters there first! Long Term RP - I would like to RP with people who actively play the game and can create an ongoing story where we RP together every so often rather than one-and-done scenes. Para RP - My post length ranges from semi-para to multi-para usually. I would love to RP with folks who enjoy writing so I can flex my muscles a little! Lore Friendliness - I do enjoy FFXIV’s setting and how respecting it makes for a more cohesive story. So I don’t like breaking or disregarding the lore! But I do like to suspend disbelief a little and explore the bounds of what’s possible in this fantasy setting and have fun with things. If some lore bending or “unusual” characters aren’t your thing, please know all my characters have their oddities.

Perpetually trapped between a sense of idleness and reckless, impulsive abandon, Evander never met a bad idea he didn’t want to take out to dinner. He’s done his level best to leave a dark past behind, but he can’t help it if the air feels cooler and the light a little brighter when you’re standing in the shade. It used to be that every day broke with him begging the question “Just how bored do I wanna be?” Now, he can’t seem to catch a godsdamn break. That’s okay though, theft adventure keeps the ennui at bay.

Build: Evander has a swimmer’s physique: Long, lean, broad-shouldered and tapering to a narrow waist. Given his lifestyle, he might have trouble maintaining that as he gets older, but for now he’s gifted with a metabolism that lets him get away with precious little intentional maintenance.

Common Accessories: Far too many flasks; ignition keys and controls for various vehicles and small automata; his drone, Valencia; his dumb hat; a gold pendant in the shape of a swan, its neck crooked long; lockpicks; a multitool or three.

PERSONAL –––

Profession: Evander will admit to being a courier, a searcher, a seeker,  a finder or something along those lines. If you need something, he can track it down and get it from one place to another. He doesn’t think of himself as much of a fighter, but he’s growing more comfortable with bodyguard work. He’s also a picklock, a safecracker and a burglar, though he’s not as quick to advertise all that.

Hobbies: He loves being around people, and he loves indulging. As far as he’s concerned, drinking and eating count as hobbies. Left to his own devices, he’s a tinker,  an avid reader (particularly of romance novels, particularly the works of Quill Quivers [@worldofquillquivers​] and Summer Bellmayne [@thefreelanceangel​]), and often fond of especially stupid wagers, though straightforward gambling doesn't interest him as much.

Languages: He’s only fluent in Eorzean Common but he knows a smattering of Old Elezen and loves picking up bits and pieces of whatever he can along the way.

Residence: His Goblet apartment is under near-constant renovation. He’s got a room he rents from his Free Company, but it’s barely furnished aside from an astonishing array of liquor bottles, shipping crates and a huge canopy bed.

Patron Deity: He’s always personally felt a call toward Nymeia and Byregot, but feels its his duty to venerate Oschon, for some reason. He doesn’t much like to talk about it.

Contemptible Youth: Evander grew up amongst a gang of orphans in Limsa Lominsa. Were you a fellow Limsan wharf rat? Were you a criminal? Did you just spend a lot of time in the wrong parts of town? It’s been a while, but you might recognize him.

Easy Mark: Evander often finds it easier to fly under the radar and avoid notice. To this end, he often tries to exude an air of hapless gullibility. Feel free to try and rope him into some con or scheme!

Yeah, Okay: These are Evander’s words to live by. It’s not that he can’t say no, so much as he’s learned that “yes” is usually the more interesting answer. Catch him in the right mood, and he’s likely to go along with almost any hare-brained plan.

Old Habits Die Hard: A part of him yearns to live a good, decent, upright life. The problem is that part of him gets bored very quickly. Lately, he’s found himself increasingly likely to drawn to less-than-legal endeavors to keep himself occupied. 

People Person: Whether it’s meeting someone new, getting to know an old friend better, or even making a new rival, frenemy or worse, he just loves people at the end of the day. Don’t be shy. You don’t need an excuse. Just come say hi!

Finally, I’m based in the US (CST, GMT-6) but work most weeknight evenings and spend much of my weekends doing TTRPG stuff. My work is often flexible that I can chat or RP, or even get in game from time to time, but it's not always a given. I saw this going around on Twitter, and I thought it would be SO much fun to do! I actually started playing FFXIV last January, so it was literally my first year of gpose! And MAN I learned so much!

(Full versions and fun facts about the pictures under the cut!)

January: One of my first ever Gpose pictures! I really did not understand what I was doing... it took me FOREVER to learn you could center the camera, and I definitely didn't know about filters yet (in game or otherwise). My friends and I had just founded our free company and the Halloween event was going on so... we had to go make clowns of ourselves. :o)

February: This was one of the first pictures I was really REALLY proud of! We didn't know explorer's mode was a thing (...actually, I'm not sure if you can explorer's mode Brayflox Longstop anyway), so my partner and I unsynched the dungeon so we could take pictures by the waterfall! I learned how to angle shots at this point and I... definitely overused it lol.

March: I think it was around this time that I started playing with lighting more. I remember reading a guide that talked about using lighting to enhance the environment (like, using a lightsource a similar color to the water) which I think I used here. I remember being REALLY obsessed with this picture for forever! (ALSO... this is still Kaliyah's swimsuit glam, lol.)

April: Kaliyah's Easter glam! I think I took this one while waiting for a wedding to start. I really love how pretty the chapel area of this game is! I LOVE how colorful this picture is (I was, and very much still am, obsessed with high saturation in images lol). Bright 4 was my favorite in-game filter for a VERY long time.

May: Talk about an image that went out of my comfort zone! I remember running Dusk Vigil for the first time (we were unsynched) and just having my breath taken away by the lighting in this room. I used one of the lower saturation in-game filters, not entirely sure which one... I just really like how cold and spooky this picture feels!

June: This is, legitimately, still one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken! And the best part is: this picture is entirely vanilla -- no mods, custom poses, or even Anamnesis to change the time! I just caught the perfect sunset moment in Kugane to show off my new ninja glam.

July: The month where EVERYTHING changed! XD I discovered GShade and taught myself how to use Anamnesis for custom poses. And of COURSE the first thing I had to do was make me and my partner's character's smooch (or, well... embrace. I wouldn't be confident enough at posing to do smooches for a little while lol. Posing is hard at first!).

August: *disgusting sobbing* I love the Flower Menagerie so much!! And I really wanted to do a picture of Kaliyah and Alexia laying in a flower field. I love how they're so pale in contrast to the flowers, and I wish I could say it was an intentional choice but... nah. Happy accident. ^^

September: I surprisingly didn't do a lot of Gpose in September! I think I was really busy that month or something. But one of my favorite pictures to come out of it was this shot I did for Kaliyah's updated ninja glam (and hair cut!). I wanted to try to make something really graphical and color pop-y... not sure how well I pulled it off, though!

October: ...on the other hand, October was a month FULL of gpose! I decided to do the Glamtober challenge and I had SO much fun and learned so much in the month I did it. This prompt, Lightwarden, is my favorite one by far. I really want to do another month long challenge like Glamtober in the future!

November: November was a really hard month to pick my favorite shot from, since I had a lot of really good ones that month (at some point, I'll have to share some), but I do really like this one from an impromptu shoot I did in The Grand Cosmos. Any time there's an area with a light purple color theme, I'm legally obligated to pose Lavender there. XD

December: Call it a recency bias, but I really like the last picture of the year I did! Not only was it fun to style Lavender in a glam outfit, but I had a lot of fun figuring out the trick with the firework (that is, the Lavender at the front of the screen is a carbuncle, and the real Lavender shot off the firework at the back of the screen lol). I'd like to try to do more shots with weird, complicated set ups in the future! They're neat!

And that's all my favorite pictures for the year!! I love seeing how much my style has grown and changed and I look forward to another year of gpose in the future! :D
