ONLY PIECES
yuyang can’t say with certainty that he’s a fan of heights.
in fact, on most days of the years, he much prefers having his feet firmly on the ground instead of—to put it as eloquently as possible—dangling however-many-feet in the air because somehow he managed to get trapped in a tree of all things.
it isn’t so much the judgmental stares of passing children and confused adults, mostly parents, have been directing in yuyang’s direction that bothers him. what bothers him most is that he came up here for the sole purpose of getting an interesting angle with euitaek’s vlogging camera, only to get to a sturdy branch considerably high up with no real concept of how to get back down—
and the camera neglected at the base of the tree.
he can be reckless sometimes, but he isn’t usually reckless and stupid simultaneously, which is what makes this situation that much more frustrating.
as it turns out, trees probably aren’t meant to house people. yuyang has nearly fallen off swatting away cobwebs and the occasional nameless bug four times already in the past twenty minutes, and neither he nor euitaek have come to a reasonable conclusion on How Best to Get Down From the Tree You Stupidly Thought Would Be Smart to Climb.
“i could jump,” yuyang murmurs to himself, leaning back against the trunk. as each second passes, yuyang becomes more and more resigned, one might even say content with the idea of living up here for eternity. he’s not one for dramatic so he knows that at some point, he’ll have to stop pretending to be a walking stick or another similarly woodsy creature and go back to being song yuyang, who has to go to work in an hour and a half.
a couple of birds titter noisily as they settle on the end of the branch he’s stretched his legs out on. he makes eye contact and they remain, chirping incessantly to each other while staring at him. this must be how cinderella felt, or maybe this is the plot behind a horror movie where he gets eaten by two songbirds.
“hey,” yuyang calls out, peering his head over his shoulder and down at euitaek. “should i just jump?”

okay, heck... this is really late but please blame it on my finals and some other unexpected events. but, here i am! you can call me clara, and this is my son, sungjin. he’s a recently graduated math teacher at soongmoon high school and a homebody whose main ambition in life is (pleasing his mom) his career. also has a sunshine of a half-brother: @cseuitaek .
i haven’t quite finished my plot page yet (actually, megan, i have not finished ANYTHING), so give this a LIKE if you’d like to plot with me! below are some quick info on sungjin and possible connections.
born to an unhappy couple, which led his father to have an affair with another woman. even though they separated, however, his parents never divorced. sungjin barely had any contact with his father growing up, and instead was raised by his mom and her side of the family
his mom is... strict. she had always been a very domineering person and her husband betrayal only made her even more bitter. sungjin was always held to very high standards, especially academically-wise
was also the ugly duckling of the class his entire school life and only had a glo up during college. hard times...
and because of that he also puts a lot of effort into his looks now, which makes him seem shallow sometimes. but fear not, he also has the Brainz
still cursed and eternally unpopular though because he couldn’t be bothered to go out his way and make friends. his apartment? too comfortable and cozy to leave
takes his job as a teacher very seriously, though. already has his masters in mind, but has decided he needed to acquire some experience with teaching first
now onto the plots! beware of the cliche
old best friends who’ve known each other since kids? presumably someone around his age, of course
another old acquaintance but you were actually a bully who made fun of his uncoordinated stick bod back then... shame on u
another teacher? whom he can bond and create projects with and just rant over how stressful this job is?
likewise, a student he really goes along with and sungjin loves to overwhelm them with extra homework, but hey, they’re good at math and he wants to help
more soongmoon staff please
maybe you have a crush on him but he’s very oblivious or just ignores it... either way it hurts but it be like that
an online friend? he spends more time than it’s healthy browsing through social media and you two end up befriending each other and eventually meeting
Workout Buddies, bro.... no homo or het
an extra student he tutors that is not necessarily someone from soongmoon?
your tiny lhasa apso jumps on sungjin on the middle of the street. he’s deadly afraid of dogs. proceed

👧🏽
👧🏽 / AS A CHILD ( !! )
childhood was lonely.
accordingly, she was a lonely kid. most of her time was spent being shuttled between miscellaneous lessons her parents more or less forced her into and she didn’t mind much—if it made umma and appa happy, then she’d do it. her older siblings were cycling the same sort of schedule and maybe it was deliberate, maybe it was just unfortunate luck, but it’s likelier than not that they were all really lonely, and it’s a shame they couldn’t find solace in each other.
(but that’s the past, and there’s no use dwelling on it.)
that being said, maybe it was the lack of attention or something along those lines, but yuul’s also always been a forward person, even in adolescence. very much so the type to befriend the old ladies selling bungeobbang on the streets during the winter and the garbage men at five in the morning, sometimes she just wanted to hear someone say “hello” back. as a kid, she might have cried more, might have averted more gazes, done a better job with deference.
other than the fact that she’s realized now that her life is her life and she’s free to live it the way she wants to live it, nothing much has changed.
