Uncertainty mixed with clarity?
Ever thought about living overseas? Many want to explore as well as experience new cultures. Traveling anywhere outside of your country can be an experience filled with mixed emotions, especially during these strange times. That might be a reason why some would rather travel than trying to live abroad. Let me use myself as an example. In the year 2014-2015 I was living in San Diego; there was curiosity in the air, and I felt like some adventures could ignite at any moment. In some cases, it did. My roommates where attending CSUSD  and showed me around the campus/ parties cause I was ideally going to be studying there. To make a long story as short as I can, at the time, I  was working odd jobs to make rent due to not having any foundation around me other than a small circle of acquaintances friends. My roommates introduced me to a new friend/ exchange student from China. We hit it off well and began dating. Inevitably she would have to finish her program and return back to China.  She mentioned that I should come back to China and teach English/to see what other opportunities you could experience. I had some time to think about it but decided and purchased my visa after two months. I find it very funny when you make a leap of faith decision to leave a struggling life behind; many will tell you not to do something that can potentially be worse. At that time, nothing could out due to my unhappiness. It was odd, and I could see many projecting their fears and doubts onto me. They made assumptions based on their experiences that they had read about but never experienced themselves. In my eyes, I was leaving their comfort zone and going into uncharted areas that they couldn't imagine themselves doing. Have you ever felt stuck in life and knew you had to make a change, but everyone you know is telling you not to make the decision you are making? That's how it was, and I had to do it, not just cause I missed my girlfriend dearly, but I wanted to see more of the world and have a better life. Who would have ever thought that this decision would change my life for the better? Not only with my relationships but also for striving for an education. This change of life over the years has allowed me to provide more financial stability, and for that, I'm grateful. I'm not saying that leaving your priorities behind will solve everything, but getting outside your comfort zone can sometimes lead to unimaginable experiences. I went through culture shock, embarrassment, and humiliation and learned through it and still learning. I'd love to get into that, but that is for another post. Thank you to whoever takes the time to read, and wishing you all the best in whatever decisions you make or are contemplating.
