43. Which version of the Normandy do they like best? For Urien, I feel like he's very much a 'I like the classics' kind of man. The original SR1 felt like it was built with closeness in mind, and it wasn't hard to navigate and talk to everyone quickly. It was also the first ship he'd ever served on by choice, not being forced into the assignment by the alliance. It was his first attempt at freedom- or, as free as he could get- and it was a success! The SR2, both when it was owned by Cerberus and when it was recaptured by the Alliance, lost that connection. Both times, he wasn't given a choice of "Which ship will I command?" it was handed to him, without the option to say no. It also lost that sense of closeness the original had. Even after the retrofits, it didn't feel like the Normandy he chose. It didn't help that both added a lot of extra hunting to try and locate people he wanted/needed to talk to. It's embarrassing getting lost on the ship you command. For Cycii, he leans towards the SR2 while it was owned by Cerberus. He hates Cerberus as much as he hates the Alliance, but the SR2 helped him, strangely. The SR1 felt...off. He couldn't name why, but he never liked being on it for too long. He sorta thinks it was because of the silence of the ship, also the limited spaces for people to be. This limiting of space also applied to the SR2 while it was under the Alliance brand. They removed certain areas and crammed things into smaller spaces. The openness of the Cerberus design is something he preferred. He needs places he can go and just be alone, or removed from others without having to go to his quarters. He also admits that a majority of his growth as a person and his healing happened while on the Cerberus owned SR2. Strange, considering that he does view his work with Cerberus the worst part of his life. He had a lot of emotional connection to the Armoury, specifically. So having that gone definitely was a kick in the teeth when he was reinstated

49. What is Shepard’s happy ending? What’s the dream that keeps em going Urien!!! Wants!!! To!!! Go!!! Back!!! To!!! Earth!!! He wants to see Manitoba, he wants to see The Rocky Mountains, he wants to see Niagara Falls! He forever loathes the Alliance for taking him away from home and raising him off Earth, he was supposed to learn and grow in the fields of Manitoba. His childhood snack should have been pemmican, not MREs. There were so many things he was robbed of and so many things he wishes to give to himself. He lives for him, for the child in him. The child that spoke Michif to the Alliance Representatives and Sargents when they would question him. The child that used his rare free time on the extranet watching recordings of Powwows on Earth. The child that still counts the days until he's home. The child that stares out ships windows, watching, waiting. Waiting for Earth to come back into view and see Turtle Island again. Waiting for him to come home too. He dreams of the reunion. Cycii has a hard time picturing the future. He can only answer in vague statements when asked things like "Where do you see yourself in five years?" Not from a lack of wanting to see the future, it just seems impossible to picture himself in it. Things get blurry when he tries to think about the next week. For a long time, this issue made it hard for him to think of an ending, a dream, a finale. Even after healing himself, even after settling into a relationship, the future seemed so impossible to picture. So, he made it easy. His happy ending is greeting the next day. And the day after that. He just needs to live on, to welcome the new days and accept the past days. That's all he works for. And it pushes him forward. Everyday he makes it to his ending, and everyday he works toward it again.

two VERY different flavours of men here.. 13. How does your Shep react to teasing/ribbing? Cycii is only ok with it if it’s from someone he’s close with. And this is only during ME3. He was extremely sensitive to any form of teasing. He saw it as criticisms someone was trying to hide. Trying to make it into something to laugh at. It made him uncomfortable, like everyone was watching him to make him into a joke. Already so sensitive to making anyone upset with him, he also wanted to be taken seriously. It’s only after the events of ME2 does he open up a bit to being able to handle it. After accepting that he will always be Cycii Durand, it was nice having close friends poke fun at him. They weren't doing it out of some want to be mean and make others point and laugh, it was just a form of play. Gentle pushing. He knows it’s not malicious when it comes from the right people. Spending house arrest around James also warmed him up to it. Being able to make comebacks and bounce off the jabs made it more welcome in conversation. Keren has mixed opinions. A lot of mixed opinions. On one hand, he loves doing it. He likes poking fun and making light jest out of something small. He likes making something that might be a small nuance into something funny. It lightens the mood. On the other hand, he’s worried he comes off as rude or inconsiderate given his tone of voice. His tone is flat, a lot of the time. He thinks he’s putting a lot of emotion in his voice, but to others he sounds the same as before. This used to help him, when he wanted to keep people away from him. When he tried to avoid forming any connections with people. But, he knows that if he dishes it out, he has to be able to take it. He rolls with it, but he does worry that some people don’t take him seriously. There’s always that worry that people don’t take him and who he is seriously and that people only get those feelings out by teasing him. Hoping he takes it as just a joke.  17. How does Shepard react to attention? Do they enjoy it? Cycii has a weird relationship to it. He loves it, but he hates it. He needs it, but he also hopes no one looks at him. It both drives him but makes him freeze. He needs people to see him. Proof that he is working, that he is pushing forward. That all his efforts are reaching the people and he does have and effect on others. But what if it’s the wrong effect? What if the people see his work and hate it? What if he’s wrong and he doesn’t know? The idea of his effort being put into the wrong thing and suddenly finding out via backlash is something that sends him to tears if he thinks about it for a moment. But he doesn’t want to be nothing. He doesn’t want to be a secret. His actions are his, and if they are good ones he wants the credit. He doesn’t like paparazzi, trying to twist his words into something sensationalised. He likes journalists who let him talk and explain and talk some more. Just so he can be completely clear. Gossip papers make him upset, most of the time. At least they’re sometimes funny. Keren is pretty neutral about it. Yes, getting tailed by morally corrupt paparazzi is one hell of a way to ruin a dinner, but using his fame to get a discount on said dinner? Pretty nice trade. For every bad thing that happens, like being slandered or having to deal with messages from news outlets who are hoping for his death so they can be the first to report it, there’s one good thing that happened. Like he gets a bill paid off or he’s able to inspire some kind of hope in people. He laughs at gossip papers in the morning, shares around magazine articles about him and his friends to laugh at. Making fun about how incorrect they are. Sometimes he has to get involved and contact news publications since yes, sometimes they do go a bit too far. It balances itself out, so he just lets it happen.  24. Who does Shepard turn to for advice? For comfort? Who do they like to gossip with  (i’m not using LI for this answer btw! but ofc they're on the list) Cycii turns to Samara the most often. She has a very rigid moral code that she doesn’t bend for anyone or anything. Something Cycii needed to see, something he needed to be around. He comes to her for advice. How does she do it? What does she do to handle regret? What does she push towards? She’s someone he looks up to, someone he has a familiar connection with. She likes being able to talk to him,to help him work towards being his best self. Shes told him that she hopes he succeeds,that she wants to see him live. Legion is someone he finds comfort in. They see things in such a different light, explain things in a different way. Listening to how Legion explains and talks about things is very calming for Cycii. Sometimes he asks Legion to just talk to him for a bit, and Legion always obliges. Miranda is another rock. She listens to him talk, letting him explain his issues and lets him figure out what he needs. Of course, she’s also good to gossip with. He gossips with people like Miranda, but also Jack, Joker and Kasumi. They have a lot to say and are up to date on a lot of dramas, both on and off the ship. They let him have that bit of fun he needs. To sit back and joke for a minute. Liara is someone he used to find a lot of comfort in, they both did, but as they grew they found each other better to jest with. They didn’t need to be sad and open with each other all the time anymore. They try to give each other joy more. Keren finds comfort in talking to Thane. Having someone who is a father admitting to making mistakes is comforting to hear, in a way. Keren hopes his own parents will one day apologise for some of the mistakes they made, so hearing Thane trying to correct his mistakes and acknowledging that he cannot fix everything but he can still try to heal what he can is soothing. He sees Thane as an almost father figure. He can still offer guidance and help Keren stay connected to spiritual aspects of himself in ways others just can’t, no fault to them. Him and Samantha bounce advice off of each other a lot, like a little self-help group that’s just them seeing what does and doesn’t work. Him and Jacob did a similar thing as well. They would joke, yes, but underneath it all they would be giving each other genuine compliments and advice. For gossip, he’d go to people like Garrus and Tali. They loved to talk about anything. People the other person would never know, things happening on the Normandy, something a gossip column said. Anything and everything was on the table for them. EDI was also a nice person to talk to. He helped her grow, and she helped him too.  40. Does your Shepard actually like to collect model ships? If not, what do they display? Cycii only likes certain models, so he has those on display. Rare, expensive Krogan frigate models, a Geth dreadnought, the original Normandy and an Asari fighter ship. He prefers collecting glasswork. He has some vases, two pieces of stained glass artwork on the walls of his quarters- he moves one to his new apartment, just so he can always have one around- and glass sculptures. There’s a set of cats, one black, one white and one orange. There a garden snail he uses as a paperweight, on the rare occasion he has paper. He likes to look at it while he works. There’s a lot of ocean themed ones, as well as a lot of ghost ones. Half are sheet ghosts, the other half are more serious interpretations of a spectre. Some are abstract, shapes and colours placed in his quarters so he has something to look at when he needs something nice to try and figure out. He never has. Keren is the proud owner of the Sovereign model ship and the Shadow Broker model ship and those are the only two he wants. He’s also collected a few pottery pieces, but he would rather make his own. The thing he’s most passionate about collecting is bugs. If he was a bit better in the sciences, he would have loved to be an entomologist. He loves hunting for it, for taxidermied insects. Having them framed in wooden frames behind clean glass with a little label. He adores them. His favourites are butterflies and praying mantis. He has a few scorpions and some beetles. There’s a set of bumble bees he feels really lucky to have gotten before anyone else did. He only has the bumble bees and the butterflies on display most of the time, knowing the other bugs get under peoples skin more. Still, it’s something he enjoys and he still shares it with people who aren’t uncomfortable having to look at his scorpion collection. Though, it did make Kasumi stop snooping through his drawers.

:3ccc 1. Why did Shepard enlist? Any regrets? Cycii didn't have a choice in enlisting. Once the Alliance 'rescued' him off Tuchanka, he was very heavily forced into signing the papers and becoming a solider. His regret is taking the diplomatic route when the Alliance came to Tuchanka. He was terrified of getting his adoptive family hurt, knowing how humans view Krogan. And how the Alliance isn't known for being open minded when it came to any other galactic race. They accused them of kidnapping, and made heavy threats to force them to trade over Cycii. When it was made clear that they weren't going to hand him over, Cycii gave himself up. He didn't love the Alliance, but he wasn't going to let anything happen to his family. Later in life, he realised the Alliance was hoping for his self-sacrifice. He wonders where he would be in life if he didn't panic and hand himself over. He hates that he did. He hates that it forced him into being a weapon of the Alliance. The day he is discharged, hopefully dishonourably, will be his final victory. 10. Does Shepard keep any pets? The hamster, fish, something else? Cycii only starts owning fish post Citadel coup. As much as he loves animals, he knew he couldn't take care of them. He had a hard enough time taking care of himself. It was only when he felt comfortable taking care of himself and having extra energy and time for another pet, did he go for the fish. The secondary reason was, since it was after the coup, a lot of the shops had a hard time keeping the fish alive. It was either because the tanks broke, or there was a power failure making it hard to keep tank levels in check, or there was a lack of food since it was already difficult to get imports. He purchased a set of fish for his aquarium for the company and to make it easy on shop owners. Post-war, he does become a varren sitter for Jack. And eventually caves and gets his own. 16. Is Shepard a drinker? History of other substances? Do they struggle with sobriety

Cycii refuses to drink alcohol. He has a long history of substance use, and the refusal to drink comes from that. He became self medicating a few months after the Alliance forced him into Alliance housing. It wasn't uncommon for soldiers to have addiction, and no one talked about getting help for it, so it wasn't questioned when Cycii would be caught with drugs or caught trying to dose himself properly to help deal with his mental illnesses and traumas. He, also, attempted to use drugs to lower his biotic abilities, but none of his attempts work. They alters his biotics slightly, but it didn't dull them in any way. He self medicated throughout ME1 & ME2, with the slight help from Miranda getting him access to a proper anti-psychotic, but hit a wall during his house arrest. It forced him into sobriety, but it wasn't a welcomed one at all. Once out and back in service, he did keep sobriety working. He was put on medications via Chakwas, and used the coping mechanisms James taught him during house arrest. He relapses post-war, after being released from hospital. He only used until his medications could be filled again without taking any away from everyone else. 47. Does Shepard practice any kind of self-care? Singing! Cycii sings along to Mohawk songs to relax. He also just puts it on in the background to work and relax since it's a little act of reclamation for him. Another one on his list is yoga. Working out has a lot of connections to work and military and stress and a lot of negative feelings, but yoga is something he chose to do because he wanted to. He also got to learn he really likes wearing yoga pants around the house and while doing errands. They're just comfy.

8. What is the difference between me1 and me3 Shepard? Do they notice, or does someone have to point it out?

Cycii is vaguely aware that he has grown a bit more stern, but besides that it would have to be pointed out. Me1 Cycii is very small, in many ways of the word. He doesn’t feel like he should be a Commander, he thinks Anderson should still be in charge, he doesn’t feel comfortable as a biotic so he focuses on Any Other Skill Possible but still doesn’t feel right doing that either. He desperately tries to keep everyone happy, even if he doesn’t really agree with their actions or decisions. Me3 Cycii is willing to take up space. He’s allowed to be a person, he’s allowed to exist without Anderson present, he can disagree with people and he doesn’t feel shame as a biotic anymore. He’s willing to take the helm as a Commander but he’s also a person outside of the Alliance now too. Tl;Dr He grew a backbone and got confident. A win!

16. What additions did Cerberus give Shepard?

Hmm bullet point list

- Stronger finger and hand joints, due to being an experiment gone kinda right, Cycii was born with far more powerful biotics than he would have normally had. Due to this, he would end up with fractures and breaks in his hands because of how difficult it was for him to control his own biotics. When rebuilding, they chose to go farther than just “ No more arthritis “ but make it so it was near impossible for his biotics to cause such damage to Cycii again. This did not get rid of the aches in his arms and hands, however

- Fucked Up Eyes also known as cybernetic eyes that give him better vision ( can’t have cataracts if we just give you mostly electric eyes ) and are supposed to help him have better reaction times and higher focus . Instead , he finds himself straining his eyes a bit too often . Not to mention , the Reapertech within the eyes are highly reactive to being exposed to more Reapertech . Hence why they loose their colour. Ahh the colour pigments get broken down a bit too easy.

- Reenforced Spinal Cord, so you know how many times Shepard gets tossed around and throw back into metal and walls ? Yeah all Cycii got from those was spinal disc fractures. This has the same effect as the finger and hand joint reinforcements. Issue is, it restricts how far he can bend forwards or backwards.

- More Biotic Power. This is why he can reave . Not bc I think reave is cool . But bc Cerberus did it . A flawless lore reason

- Also, of course, the sheer amount of synthetic muscle used to remake a man.

36. What was going through Shepard’s head, when they met Sovereign on Virmire?

Nothing good! Cycii was already struggling hard with the mere concept of a Reaper. The idea that a galactic extinction event was going to happen within his lifetime is not something he was really mentally ready to process. He already dealt with things like psychosis and hallucinations in the past, so it was another layer of trying to keep everything in order. If he convinced himself the whole Reaper thing was just based in hallucinations and not being properly medicated, then it was manageable. Then, Sovereign happened. And now there is a terrifying bit of proof that what is happening is, in fact, real. Cycii could barely talk to Sovereign, half of him telling himself that this isn’t real and that he needs to get a better grip on himself. The other half was just, terror. The bandaid was ripped off and all that part of him could fathom was “ It’s Real.” He was the first human to scream cry breakdown at a Reaper so at least he has that .

48. How does Shepard feel about paperwork?

Usually, it’s a welcomed break from things. He’s allowed to sit, alone, and write down what had happened or write requisition requests or whatever may need his attention. It can be an annoyance when it’s from Hackett, but he does it all the same. Self care is sitting in your dimly lit cabin writing about the mission on Tuchanka, possibly with quiet company.
