Side sex (think sunday morning sex except any day) >>>
Like imagine his chest against your back, his cheek against yours, one of his hands keeping your leg up so he has room to fuck you, asking if it feels good and if you're comfortable, except he's kind of whining and breathless ~
No pregnancy kink but thinks you're breathtaking, as always
^ even when you haven't showered, your legs are hairy, etc. He thinks you're a work of art
Plays music for you and the baby, asks what he/she responds to and makes note of it
Overprotective, does not like it when people touch you in general, let alone when you're pregnant
Visibly dies inside every time someone's hand goes to your belly without asking you first—would scold people if you'd let him
Posts photos of you each month documenting your pregnancy and leaving a words of appreciation for you
Keeps a copy of the ultrasound photo with him
May not have his hands on you 24/7, but he makes sure you know you're loved as well as the baby

Loves babies anyway but your baby??
Him leaning against the headboard so you can lean against him, he'll curl his arms around you and rub your belly while you talk

Isn't overprotective but has moments when he hovers

"why am I crying"
"how to stop crying when your pregnant girlfriend cries"
Loves when people ooh and awe over you; beams and grins like an idiot bc you're his and he put the baby in you.
Yeosang
Seems calm
Is not calm
Is just as protective/concerned as Hongjoong but is so quiet about it you don't even notice
You haven't lifted a grocery bag since he found out about your pregnancy
Has the dates of your appointments memorized
No one touches the belly. He doesn't even say anything to anyone. They just don't.
Does little things to make sure you're extra comfortable, bought you a pregnancy pillow

King of pregnancy cravings
2 a.m. runs to the convenience store because you want some strawberry milk
Forehead kisses with a hand on your belly >>>
Will literally get on his knees for a chat with him/her
Like imagine looking down and seeing this man smiling up at you, both hands on your tummy with so much love in his eyes I just—
His calm facade dissolves when you cry
It physically hurts him to see you break down and he will do all he can to help you
Talks about you nonstop and your symptoms, experiences, etc literally to anyone with ears
Signs you both up for a parenting class
Cannot believe how horny you are, but is happy to help
^ a little afraid of you tbh but still very much in love
Like Hongjoong, prefers side sex so he can still be close to you
Also loves foreplay/eating you out even more now because of how sensitive you are
Ultrasound visits/pics make him choked up though he tries to hide it
His brain has not processed the fact that his baby is literally inside of you
It isn't going to fully sink in until there's a baby in his arms
^ is never going to put him/her down

Armchair sex/you in his lap - super slow and soft
Loves showering with you after to hold you and massage your back/shoulders

Hugs are softer, he doesn't squeeze as tight, likes to hug you from behind and look over you to see what you're doing

Does it in public probably the most of the members, though it's not really intentional
His hands used to go to your waist and now they go to your bump ~
Doesn't talk to the baby as much as he sings to him/her
Is way too excited to take maternity photos
Gets caught staring at you by literally everyone

Thinks you hung the stars
Loooooves being snuggled in bed with you with your bump between you, rubbing your belly and whispering as though the baby is sleeping

Blushes when people call him daddy
Blushes harder when you call him daddy
Pretty calm when it comes to your emotions, will just go with the flow and give you what you need, whether that's space, affection, or food
secretly hopes you want another one
Mingi
When I tell you this man is terrified
Does not think he can care for a baby despite your reassurance
Asks all the questions
"I mean, how do we know when it's done? You know, like, cooked all the way?"
Oddly protective despite his fears
Does not like anyone touching your belly
Any time someone comments on your size/roundness/etc he's ready to throw hands, does not care if it's the ajumma two doors down from you
You: "Mingi for the love of god, I have told you, you cannot threaten people."
"She threatened you first!"
You: "She just said I look ready to pop??"
Horny af and has a pregnancy kink but will not initiate sex
You have to beg, and even then it's like ~
"No I mean just stand there, and I'll hold you and put it in. Yeah don't move at all."
Will still eat you out daily
Treats you like a glass doll
Belly kisses >>>>>
Buys baby books, gets one page in and declares this is too much to remember and you both should get a refund
^ shrugs at your look of horror "obviously I meant a refund for the books..."
Raps??? at your belly? Like nursery rhyme raps????
Also talks. A lot. Not cooing or baby talk
"Today at practice I slipped and it sucked, kinda hurt my knee. I'm still a good dancer, definitely better than Yunho. I'll show you. But I mean like after you can walk and stuff, or maybe you'll dance before you can walk and we can win money or something. Do they have baby dance competitions?"
Doesn't post the pictures he takes of you and your belly, looks at them when he misses you and won't let anyone else see them
Unironically refers to himself as your baby daddy and changes his contact in your phone [proudly]
When you cry, he cries, so please don't cry
Asks if he can attend his own child's birth
^ is excited when you say "...yes, Mingi. You can attend the birth of our child."
Wooyoung
Knows all there is to know about babies??
Is not concerned at all
Reassures you constantly
You ask him questions
Will lay on your thighs and absentmindedly rub your belly while watching tv or scrolling on his phone
Actually, will rub your belly anywhere, and usually does it without realizing it
Refers to you as mama and himself as dada even out of context
"Do you want a drink, mama?"
Is completely unfazed by your weird cravings and will get them for you as long as it's not harmful
"No, y/n, you cannot have sushi with your oreos. Mercury levels..."
Not overprotective in the slightest
Your biggest advocate
The only member who would fuck you properly while pregnant, as he knows it's safe within reason
Does not have a pregnancy kink, but loves how sensitive you are, the changes to your body, etc and thinks you're a goddess
Loves going shopping with you
Will absolutely argue with you over nursery themes
Finds you adorable when you're emotional, but will still try to calm you down and comfort you
Loves talking about you nonstop
May not praise you to your face as much as the others but tells everyone else he's so incredibly lucky to have you as the mother of his child
He was so clingy before
It's worse
His camera roll is full of selfies with him and your bump
Imagine woo making bunny ears over your belly (and telling your unborn child to say cheese)
Has full on conversations with him/her
Baby talks and coos and informs them they have the best parents ever
Jongho
Probably the most genuinely calm member when it comes to your pregnancy
Still very excited
Does not know as much as wooyoung but is fairly confident, not terrified or anxious like some of the others
Touches your belly from day 1, even without a bump
Sings and hums to it
The baby LOVES his voice and always kicks when he's near
He finds this adorable and loves talking to him/her while touching your stomach
Massages >>>>
Your pregnancy aches are afraid of him
Is a little shaken by your emotions but handles them well
Not too overprotective but really hates it when people touch you
Won't say anything though unless you're uncomfy
Sex?
Dear god
2ho breeding/pregnancy kink is my headcanon and I am sticking with it
Do not make eye contact for more than a few seconds
Is unbelievably horny for you
Doggy style with pillows underneath you >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Is extra gentle despite how badly he wants you
Takes care of you first also ^ he knows it helps you relax so that's always his end goal
Loves the way you look while pregnant
Thinks you're beautiful anyway but something about the fact that you're literally creating a brand new human being
When you wear his t-shirts and nothing else because your clothes don't fit anymore it makes him melt ~
^ he complains for the fun of it but would probably cry if you stopped
Brings you snacks/drinks/whatever without you having to ask
Is willing to try your cravings with you as long as it's nothing vile (frito chips + peanut butter)
Wants to do every social media pregnancy trend with you
*buys your unborn child soccer cleats*
Doesn't post photos of you often but when he does, they're tearjerkers
Wants more kids but knows how difficult pregnancy/motherhood is so ultimately it's up to you
He's the cutest - kissing your temple while snuggling on the couch and rubbing your belly
"Our baby bear"

bingo | park seonghwa

word count: 1.8k
genre: angst + fluff, single dad!seonghwa x reader
warnings: brief mention of hwa's ex partner not being in their daughter's life
author's note: after seeing seonghwa on that one show with kids i literally cannot get dad!teez out of my head
it's been almost a month? since you've started going out with seonghwa. he was a great guy, a little older than you and was always a gentleman to you, what more could you ask for? at this point, you were waiting for seonghwa to make it official but there was just something that was holding him back. you didn't know what it was but you trusted that with time he'll tell you.
tonight, was another date night and even after all these days you still got nervous before each one. it was no different when you arrived at seonghwa's house fiddling with the hem of your cardigan.
hesitantly, you knocked on the door to reveal a disheveled looking seonghwa. his usually slicked back hair wasn't done and a few buttons on his shirt were open.
"hi," seonghwa breathes out, a tired smile on his face.
"are you okay, hwa?" you ask almost instantly, concern taking over before you notice a tiny figure waddling up behind him. big doe eyes looking up at you from behind his legs, "oh hello!"
"yeojin, go into your room really quickly. appa will be there in a second." seonghwa softly asks, the exhaustion evident in his voice. "come in, i'm so sorry. just give me a minute, things have been...chaotic."
"oh no worries." you respond empathetically, taking note of how many toys and coloring books were scattered all over the place. so he has a child? is he divorced?
before too many questions popped into your mind, seonghwa immediately began talking as he began to pick up the scattered toys. "i'm so sorry about the mess. i had to stay at the office a little longer and then i picked up yeojin late and i just haven't had time to clean up and then our babysitter canceled last minute and now-"
"hey, hey," you interrupt before seonghwa combusts from being overwhelmed. to ease the burden, you also begin to pick up the toys around the living room after you placed a hand on his back. "it's okay. don't worry about it. there's always tomorrow seonghwa."
"i know, i know but-wait. you're not mad or disgusted?" the man stops in his tracks looking at you perplexed.
"i'm a little surprised if i'm being honest. i know taking care of a child is hard and by yourself i assume is even harder. your kid is more important than anything in the world, missing one date won't kill me hwa."
seonghwa was standing still, not a sound coming out his mouth which was beginning to freak you out. did you say the wrong thing? is seonghwa yeojin's dad or? "seonghwa?"
"sorry, i'm just a little shocked. not a lot of people are very happy when they find out they've been going out with a single dad." seonghwa lightly jokes trying to ease the tension in the air. "thank you though. it means a lot. really."
"of course," you smile at him.
a door opens to reveal a tiny yeojin peeking out from what you presumed to be her room.
"hey bubba, what's up." seonghwa asks, his voice becoming much softer.
she doesn't say much but instead pads over to the coffee table and attaches herself to her dad. "can we draw?"
"of course bubs. let appa go get the markers."
"i can get them." you say faster than seonghwa gets up to which he directs you over to one of the drawers in the living room.
upon your arrival, seonghwa has a bluey coloring book out for yeojin. crutching down to reach the table, you gasp softly at the blue dog. "is that bluey?"
yeojin nods her head shyly, a small smile appearing on her face as seonghwa looks up at you in surprise.
"ahh, i love bluey! who's your favorite character?" you ask watching yeojin point to the smaller, light colored dog.
"bingo?" yeojin nods again, her smile growing even bigger. "no way, i like her too!"
seonghwa watched the two of you converse in awe and he swears he couldn't have fallen more in love with you. it was always a gamble bringing up the fact that he had a kid to his dates and lately he's been ghosted more times than he can count. maybe that's why seonghwa took so long to talk about yeojin. although, he would never admit it, you had him wrapped your finger and he was scared to lose you.
so far though, you were taking his little "surprise" or "fun fact" about him better than he thought you would. still, he was worried what you would say when yeojin left the room. would you be mad at him? dump him on the spot? ghost him after tonight? he's never had one of his flings (?) ever meet yeojin because they all left at the mention of a kid. to say seonghwa was terrified of your reaction was a massive understatement.
"seonghwa?" you ask, pulling the dad out of his thoughts. "yeojin wants to watch bluey."
"right." he answers, gently removing yeojin from his lap as he goes to scrounge for the remote in his unusually disorganized apartment.
while seonghwa looks for the remote, you continue to converse with yeojin about bluey which was the show you ironically watched during dinner time. hey, there's actually plot and messages in the show okay?
by the time seonghwa returned, the two of you were in a deep conversation about some episode regarding bingo and bluey playing pretend with their grandad. almost immediately, yeojin eye's become glued to the screen as soon her dad puts on the kid's show leaving you and seonghwa to talk amongst each other.
"so, you know bluey?" seonghwa asks, a teasing tone to his voice.
an embarrassed laugh slips past your lips, "uh yeah, sounds silly but i watch it as background noise, you know?"
"i'm not judging," he pauses, "just surprised."
"yeah, i like the accents." you say in a panic causing seonghwa to smile, "so, um i don't mean to pry but i assume yeojin's yours?"
the smile slowly fades on his face as seonghwa feels the guilt build in his stomach. "yeah, her, uh mom isn't in the picture anymore."
"oh, i'm so sorry to hear that."
"it's fine now, it's better without her." seonghwa looks down at his hands trying to distract himself from the thoughts about the past.
"oh."
there was a beat of silence where the both of you didn't dare to look at each other, too afraid to make things weird. only the faint conversations of the tv and the sounds of the marker on paper were heard.
"look, i'm really sorry for dumping all this on you." seonghwa gestures to an oblivious yeojin. "i know you probably weren't expecting a child tonight or any of this really. i completely understand if you don't want to talk again or you need space. whatever you want, i'll do."
"it's okay,"
"i-you're not mad?" seonghwa asks in shock.
"i mean i'm not mad. i understand not bringing up a daughter on the first date. but i'm just a little disappointed you didn't tell me sooner." you confess.
"i didn't want to lose you."
"seonghwa-"
"i was trying to plan the perfect time to talk about yeojin but i just got so swamped with everything that time slipped through my fingers and you had to find out in such a shitty way."
your eyes dart towards a sleepy yeojin on seonghwa's lap at the curse word. even he jumps a little at his realization and then calms down when he realized that his baby girl was almost knocked out in his lap.
"would you have told me before we made things official?" you ask, testing the waters about how serious you could go tonight with the questions.
"yes. most definitely yes. i couldn't just ask you to be my partner and then surprise you that i have a whole child that i've been hiding from you."
interesting. so was he going to tell you about yeojin soon? was he going to make things official?
seonghwa could see the gears turning in your head at his words. "it sounds hypocritical now but trust me i really wanted you two to meet. i just-i really like you y/n."
you go quiet. processing everything he was saying. from what he was saying there was a very very high chance he wants you to be his like officially his but even if he actually wanted to make things official, he has a whole child. a child without a mother. were you really ready to take on the responsibility to be one? or anything similar to that role?
being with seonghwa meant much more than just being together and loyal to one another. being honest, you didn't mind yeojin. so far you got along great with her but a single interaction and convo won't predict the future of your relationship with her. it's a lot definitely but-
"y/n," seonghwa softly says pulling you out from your daze, "i'll be right back i'm gonna put yeojin down in her room."
you hum in response, letting your thoughts consume you once more.
your brain was beginning to ache because of how much you were thinking but one thing was for certain. you really liked seonghwa. enough that you were willing to accept everything that came with him - including yeojin.
you reminded yourself that dating seonghwa didn't mean automatically becoming a parent all of a sudden. he wasn't asking that of you. probably won't for a long time. he wants you for you. it's just a bonus you got along with yeojin so far.
there was a soft click of the door closing that made you turn your head. you look over to see seonghwa awkwardly make his way over to you, uncertainty written all over his face.
"i'm sorry for going quiet on you." you apologize, fingers toying with the hem of your cardigan once more. "i was just thinking."
a quiet laugh escapes seonghwa, "it's okay, don't worry about it. i'm sure tonight was a lot. but-"
"listen, seonghwa," oh here it comes. the "i'm so sorry, i don't think this will work out anymore". "i don't know what your plans were for us but regardless of what happened tonight, i want to be more. i know you having a whole kid might make things difficult or a little confusing but, i'm willing to try with you."
seonghwa felt his heart drop and then pick back up again when you finished talking. he didn't know what to say. he was grateful, excited, but most of all relived.
"so, how does another date this thursday night," seonghwa pauses, trying to not choke on his words, "as mine sound?"
"are you finally asking me to be your partner, park seonghwa?" you smile. it's finally happening.
"yes." seonghwa breathes out, truly terrified of your answer.
"then yes, i would love to." you answer, wrapping your arms around seonghwa's neck.
"sounds good then my love." seonghwa mumbles, his heart racing and his head buzzing from the overwhelming night but it didn't matter to him.
you were finally his.

AUTHOR’S NOTE | Hi, hello. Thanks @itsnotmydejavu for all the brainstorming. I really appreciate it! This was more fluffy that I anticipated lol. We really need more dad!teez fics out here~
ATEEZ Main Masterlist
"Joomi, I think we should make Daddy fall in love."
"With who, Jooeun? Y/N?"
"Yeah! Wouldn't Y/N be a great mommy? She already takes really good care of us! And she's mommy's best friend."
"Mommy would be happy if Y/N was our new mommy."
The two five-year-olds were huddled by the stairway, looking down the hall into the kitchen where you stood by the sink and Jongho cleared the table. After their mom passed away, the twins knew that their dad was struggling to raise them himself, he had no clue what he was doing. When you, their mom's best friend and their favorite person in the whole wide world, moved into the home to help out, they were thrilled.
They knew you had been close to their mom, but seeing how much you care for the three of them just proved to them even more that you are the perfect match to take over the role of their mother. You cook all their favorite meals, you read bedtime stories to them, and you even help them brush their teeth! You loved all three of them very deeply and would do anything for them. The girls admired you and adored your kind heart and the loving smiles you had for their dad and them. The girls noticed the way the two of you looked at each other when you thought no one was looking. Their dad had it bad and Joomi could tell that you did too. But you and their dad always insisted you were 'just friends' and that there was nothing more than that. So, being the bright children they were, Joomi and Jooeun put their minds together to hatch a plan.
If they made you two fall in love, you could get married, and become a family!
Their dad was walking into the kitchen. "How did their snacks go? Were the girls okay?"
You nodded. "Oh, it went wonderfully. The girls were perfectly sweet the entire time."
Jongho exhaled a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry for leaving. I had to stop by a client's office since we are having trouble meeting a deadline for a project that needs to be completed by Friday. If anything were to go wrong or anything would happen..."
You put a hand on his arm, stopping him from rambling. "Everything was fine. Don't stress yourself out, everything's under control here. You just take care of whatever work you need to do."
Jongho nods but hesitantly stops. "I'm...just afraid something will happen. The girls...they've been through enough. I feel bad for asking so much from you, I don't even pay you to take care of them or live in my home or-"
You chuckled. "Hush. No money is necessary to watch over the people I care about. Plus, this is more than a payment. You've given me a place to stay, food, and the company of two adorable girls. Now stop worrying."
The look Jongho gave you after that was too warm and sent butterflies fluttering throughout your body, but it made your cheeks heat up.
Joomi and Jooeun made small noises of "falling in love, falling in love, falling in loveeeee," over and over while they looked over at their dad and you by the stairway. They were careful not to be noticed by either of you and they were patient as they watched.
"Okay...you're right," Jongho breathed out a heavy sigh and you saw the way his shoulders visibly relaxed, his built figure leaning forward and closer to you.
You laughed. "Let's start planning a summer trip, okay? When things are not as busy."
He smiled. "That'd be lovely."
As soon as he said that, you heard the girls giggling by the stairs. "Were they listening to our conversation this whole time...?"
You covered your smile. "Probably."
Jongho scrunched up his nose, laughing to himself. "You know what they're trying to do, right?"
"I mean- they've been playing their games lately..." You let out a small laugh.
You can see Jongho shaking his head from behind you. The two of you walked up the steps, approaching the kids at the top and grabbing them. The girls screech playfully in shock, holding back a snicker at what their next plans could be. Jongho holds both of them in each arm, one girl in each, and you're unable to hold back your laughter at how precious they are. Jongho carries them both off to their bedroom, where he drops them softly on the big bed that the two girls shared. They're laying on their bellies, kicking their feet back and forth like fish, a huge grin plastered across both of their faces.
"I know your tricks, ladies. So do be a little less obvious about trying to play matchmaker." He scolded them playfully, hands on his hips and giving them a pretend serious look.
Joomi snorted, still kicking her little feet. "We've noticed you and Y/N."
"What does that mean?" He chuckled.
Jooeun flipped over, the bedsheets making a small swoosh sound underneath her as she laid down on her back. "You and Y/N have crushes!"
Your eyes widened. You felt yourself redden up. "Oh. Girls! No no no, your daddy and I are just friends. Best friends! Like, soooo best of friends!"
Joomi furrowed her little eyebrows. She glanced back and forth from you to her father. "You and Daddy love each other like mommy did, but don't kiss."
"Or...at least haven't kissed. Yet," Jooeun sang.
You let out a shaky sigh. "Where are they learning these things? Don't go saying things like that, the two of you."
Joomi nodded with a shrug. "Why not? Are you embarrassed?"
You let your gaze wander over to Jongho to look for some support on the matter. But Jongho was flushed and looking everywhere other than at you. It was obvious that this wasn't an easy conversation for either of you to have, much less in front of the twins.
Joomi noticed your actions and she smiled, snapping her head over to her father. "What? Are you embarrassed, Daddy?"
Joomi was giving him the same look she always did when she's trying to convince him to get something for her. With big puppy eyes, a wide smile, her bottom lip out with just a twitch at the end. Her eyebrows wiggle just a little, begging him silently and sweetly. She and her sister knew their father couldn't resist when they pleaded in that certain tone of voice, looking in their sweet little girl ways. They've played their games so many times, so why not try again?
"Joomi..." Jongho sighs, putting his hands on his knees, not being able to escape her large dark brown eyes. "What am I going to do with the two of you?"
The twins only let out tiny laughs, shrugging and hugging each other in the bed as Jongho stood. The girls love him very much and are grateful they have such a good father, despite their circumstances. Jongho leaves the room and you stay in the room with them, sitting on the bed, wanting to get to the bottom of where the girls' idea of a crush came from.
"Who told you about what a crush is?" you asked the girls after they sat themselves on the bed and changed into their PJ's.
"Uncle San!" Jooeun squeaks as the top half of her head peeks out of her PJ top.
You internally facepalmed, thinking about how Jongho's older cousin, San, was whispering conspiratorially with the girls after they asked him questions about life in a school filled with friends, crushes and parties.
"We thought you and Daddy liked each other," Jooeun had confessed innocently.
"Do you hate Daddy?" Joomi frowned, getting teary-eyed as her head pokes through the collar. "Do you hate us? Are you going to leave?"
You give her a hug, cupping her face with your hands and giving a sweet, reassuring smile. "No, no, no, sweetheart. Not at all, it's just complicated. Please don't say those things again, okay?"
It hurt, seeing the disappointed looks in their eyes and on their pouty lips, but you tried not to show it on your own face.
"Promise?" Jooeun had pleaded.
You took in a shaky breath. "Of course. Come now, time to get to sleep."
You helped the little ones into their beds, tucking the blankets around them and reading from a fairytale book as the light to their night-light flickered from the wall outlet. They slowly drifted off to sleep and you shut the bedroom door with a gentle click behind you. With a sigh, you approached the master suite across the hall and opened the door quietly, catching sight of Jongho flopped stomach-down on the mattress, buried with a duvet as you chuckled at the sight.
You clicked the bedroom door shut as you entered, stepping over to him. "The kids are asleep," you announced softly, moving to sit on the side of the bed and leaned over, poking his shoulder blade.
With a quiet huff, he rolled over, his face and shoulders now facing you. His fluffy hair lay flat over his eyes and a low sigh passed through his nose as his eyes shifted to meet yours, eyelids drooped.
A smirk found its way to the corners of his mouth. "Those two will be the death of me."
"You know we'll have to tell them about us eventually if they keep it up with their shenanigans," you warned him, laying yourself overtop of him.
"I was thinking of ways to approach the subject with the girls in my head just now." he revealed to you, reaching his arms around you. "I'm nervous that I don't know what they're really thinking or feeling."
Your hands came up and framed Jongho's cheeks. "Oh, Jongho...those girls are too smart. They even asked San about what crushes are.”
"San? Why'd they ask him?"
"That's not the point." you whispered, running your thumb across his soft cheek. "Do you think we should sit down with them? Explain?"
"Explain what? That their daddy and their nanny are secretly in love with one another because they can't stop sneaking kisses in secret places of the home?"
"Shut up." you said with a playful nudge at his chest.
"But you admit those kisses are nice." Jongho says as he sits up, dragging you onto his lap, the blanket sliding down his toned chest as his arms remain around you.
"Extremely," you confirmed, wrapping your arms around his neck as you feel the hands on your waist move to cup the underside of your thighs, adjusting the way you're positioned on him.
"Hey." Jongho brushed his nose with yours as a whisper against your lips.
"Hello," you replied with a giggle, already finding his mouth and leaning in with the full intent of kissing him again.
"Would you be happy with a widowed, single dad?" He continued to stroke the back of your leg with his fingers. "What it be wrong for me and the girls to be happy again?"
The tips of your thumbs draw little circles on the back of his neck. "Nothing is wrong with that, Jongho... I think Eunmi would be happy if you and the girls were finally able to move on and be happy."
"What if that happiness was with you? With us?" he asked, pressing his forehead against yours and rubbing his hands up and down your sides and you gently rub his back with your fingers.
You lean into the embrace and inhale, closing your eyes for a moment, then pulling away. "When Eunmi told me her last words to take care of you and the girls... I think maybe that was her way of telling me that it was okay for us to be happy. It's not like we're strangers. Not like we haven't been together before."
You and Jongho had known each other for years, and at one point, the both of you dated back in high school for a year or two but broke off your relationship for various reasons. You met Eunmi in college and ended up staying good friends with her throughout the rest of the years. And when you found out that Eunmi and Jongho started dating and eventually got married, you couldn't have been more pleased for the two of them.
You were never jealous that Eunmi and Jongho were together. Never jealous when they got married or when you helped Eunmi with the twins' birth.
Never once.
Because you loved them dearly and you wanted them to be happy together.
When Eunmi fell sick and lost her fight with the sickness that plagued her body and spirit, she pleaded for Jongho to promise her to live his happiest life possible, and that meant starting a family all over again. Because she couldn't anymore. She couldn't raise their kids, or start over as husband and wife with Jongho, so the least she could ask for was for him and the girls to be happy. When you visited her in her final days in the hospital, she grabbed your hand and asked you a favor.
"If you love Jongho and want him to live a fulfilling and happy life... then please, look after him for me when I'm gone," she had begged with tears in her eyes. "You know how to take care of our girls, and if Jongho were with you and the girls are happy with you, I know he would be more at ease. With more help, with love...and if somehow the both of you were to fall in love all over again with one another...don't leave him, okay? Take care of him...take care of the three of them...love them, make them happy...my family is your family now."
That was over a little more than a year ago, and Jongho, although still hurt over his past love's untimely loss, was healing. So were Joomi and Jooeun. That was proven by the fact that Jongho was finally starting to love again, albeit slowly, after a while. The twins were right. They knew that he was happy when he was around you, just like he knew the twins were happier when you were around, just as their mother, Eunmi, knew the same thing.
And the last promise he made Eunmi on her deathbed was one that he will make sure he keeps.
Live his best, happiest life possible, even with the way that his life was now.
Even if it meant being with you, the woman he once loved before and recently was falling for again.
Your thoughts are interrupted by the feeling of your back hitting the plush comforters as Jongho shifts to pin you on the mattress below him. You look up and see the gleam in his eyes that have turned a shade darker from before. Your hands snake their way around his neck as he reaches and traps your face with his fingers and palms. A mischievous smirk danced across his features, his thumb rubbing the spot below the corner of your mouth, his index and middle finger rubbing at the shell of your ear. You shivered at his actions.
"Let's make them happy, Jongho..." you cooed, relishing in the soft, tickling touch of his fingers along your neck and shoulder. "Let's be happy, together, with them. Like Eunmi asked."
"I love you, you know that? I can't help but think that Eunmi knew what was going to happen, the whole time," he expressed with a big exhale as you pull him forward and close. "And she never once left me. Never doubted that I loved her even with my...previous feelings for you resurfacing."
"She loved you so, so much, Jongho. Don't ever think she didn't love you, or that she thought you didn't love her, despite the things that happened when we were in high school," you reminded him with a reassuring smile. "She loved you until her final breaths and beyond, and wanted nothing but a lifetime of happiness for you and your girls. You deserve that. Everyone deserves that. Including you."
"Do you love me too...?" he whispered against your lips, his thumb grazing your cheek.
"Always have, always will," you promised, smiling and finally pulling him in for a sweet kiss.
The next few days passed in a blur. The girls were constantly scheming or attempting to make you and their father become 'official' to their little eyes. You and Jongho would playfully play the fool, knowing their secret plans, and doing small things that would give them the belief that their tricks would work.
But in actuality, you and Jongho were having a good time trying to guess what would come next. One day, you woke up early and had just finished washing the dishes from breakfast. The girls scurried up behind you, wrapping their small bodies around your legs like adorable monkeys clinging to trees.
"What are you two up to, huh? Going to try and climb Y/N like a tree and claim that I stole your new favorite?" You hear Jongho joked as he leaned on the doorframe between the living room and dining room.
The twins giggled in unison at the ridiculous accusation as Jongho slipped closer, grabbing both girls from either side and tickling their sides as he lifted the twins up on his broad shoulders.
"Never! Our favorite is still you, Daddy!" the girls gasped in between fits of laughter as you watched on in amusement at their antics.
You rolled your eyes at the girls' silliness.
"Careful there. Make sure the two of you are hanging on tight," you playfully warned them as they straddled Jongho's shoulder blades.
The two girls immediately sat and hung on to Jongho for dear life, faces buried on either side of his head. You and Jongho chuckled at the adorable display of their devotion. You reached out and bopped the twins' noses in turn as they peered up, big bright grins adorning their cherubic cheeks.
The weekend is arriving soon, and with it, comes an overnight trip for the four of you.
"Are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet?" the twins cried out, looking out the passenger's-seat windows in anticipation.
"We'll be there soon," you laughed from the front seat where you were seated beside Jongho as he drove along the road to the campsite.
You and Jongho decided to take the kids camping, along with his friends and their kids to get a break from the bustling city life. His friend Mingi has a lakeside cabin and lots of land on which you can pitch a tent, start a fire, roast marshmallows, swim in the lake, and go canoeing or kayaking, just a few hundred meters away from the cabin itself. Jongho explained this to you as you looked out the window, smiling and watching the pine trees on either side of the vehicle whizz by at lightning speed.
Your thoughts drifted from the scenery out the windows to the scenery in the passenger seat beside you.
Jongho has his eyes focused on the road. His mouth was set in a small smile as he maneuvered the vehicle and focused on his driving, looking back into the rearview mirror to glance back and see his children giggling and talking amongst one another.
Then his dark brown orbs flickered over to your side briefly before his eyes landed back on the road before him. He turned and tilted his head towards you and his smile only got wider as his eyes crinkled at the sides, an adoring look settling over his handsome features.
"What's on your mind?"
"Not too much," you murmured, not realizing that you were being called out because of the pensive look you've been wearing on your face while looking out the windows. "Just thinking about stuff, you know, as a typical human is prone to doing from time to time."
"Got something you wanna share or something you want to keep to yourself?"
"Mmm...let me get back to you on that one."
Jongho let out a chuckle, shrugging and facing forward again. He kept his hand on your thigh the entire drive.
As soon as Mingi came into sight and everyone pulled up and parked in the driveway near his cabin, the twins were ecstatic. Unable to keep themselves in check as they jumped up and down and opened the door, they hopped out onto the ground and rushed towards him. Jongho's other friends' kids did the same thing and rushed forward, enveloping Mingi in a big group hug and pulling him downwards to smother his face and neck with affectionate kisses and screaming 'Uncle Mingi! Uncle Mingi! We're here!!' at the top of their lungs. A look of bewilderment crossed Mingi's features and he laughed heartily.
"Oh man, I wish I was that popular," San muttered as he watched the kids crowd the tall man, shaking his head.
"You're just jealous that Haru likes Mingi more than you," Wooyoung said teasingly, punching San's shoulder playfully.
"But I'm his dad!" San said with wide-eyes.
"And Mingi is his favorite uncle." Hongjoong pitched in.
"I've been replaced." San faked a dramatic swoon.
"Yunhee, make sure you get money from Uncle Mingi!" Yunho yelled at his daughter who only responded with a loud 'Got it!' from Mingi's front porch before turning around and giving her father a thumbs up.
You watched as the kids greeted Mingi on his porch and then he turned his attention to the adults and waved enthusiastically, pointing at the cabin door.
"Lunch is inside already and is ready whenever you guys want! Help yourself! We got games set up in the back if anyone wants to get their butts kicked in basketball or kickball. We also have kayaks in the back we can take out onto the lake. We've also got plenty of seating on the deck and some patio furniture. Make yourselves at home!" He announced, his voice booming out with laughter.
The adults nodded at him, not missing the mischievous twinkle in his eyes as he continued to yell at the kids. "KIDS. There's a small playground behind the cabin with a swing set, sand pit, slide, etc. and the water's right behind that. BUT-"
With that, the kids perked up and looked at him, eye-wide, eagerly hanging on every word that would leave his mouth.
"But~ If you don't behave well, Uncle Joong and Uncle Hwa are going to turn into super spies and capture each and everyone one of you!" Mingi announced in his serious adult's voice as he eyed the kids before continuing with, "Don't even try us! You can run, but you can't hide. Uncle Woo and Uncle Yeo have superhuman hearing and can detect trouble-makers from a hundred feet away. They'll be on you before you even realize it! Uncle Yunho and Uncle San have lightning reflexes! One little slip up and they'll snag you faster than your father can!"
The kids gasp and run past them in a hurry towards the playground that lay behind the cabin. The adults looked amused after their gleeful retreat, and it's not long before the noise of playful squeals and shrieks fill the air.
You and the rest of the adult pack burst into a fit of laughter at the fact that Mingi just riled the kids up into a frenzy. The others looked back and watched their offspring tear into the backyard. You watched a fond look cross Jongho's face, the smile reaching his eyes as he watched the scene in the back unfold.
"Jongho," Mingi said, interrupting Jongho and shaking him from his thoughts. "Are you and Y/N okay to share the bedroom in the back of the cabin? All the kids wanted to have a sleepover in the living room, and all the other bedrooms were claimed, save for one. I mean, I could sleep on the couch and one of you can take my bedroom..."
"It's okay, Mingi." Jongho smiled, pulling you to stand beside him and wrapping an arm around your waist, looking at you for approval.
"Ohhhhhhh~" the rest of the guys exclaimed, slapping him on the back, playfully. They were happy that Jongho was moving on.
"Wait," Wooyoung cried out, confused, "Wasn't there another room open?"
Mingi wiggled his brows. "Totally open."
“So why…” Wooyoung scrunched his face in confusion. Then his eyes widened in understanding when it clicked in his head. "Oh. Oh, damn!"
"Did you plan this or something, Mingi?" you laughed.
He holds his hands up. "Nah, the kids suggested sharing the sleeping arrangements. I would've switched our sleeping places around, but Joomi and Jooeun gave me puppy-dog-eyes and asked me to go along with their plan. Don't think any of the adults or kids here could resist a face like that."
"The twins and their shenanigans. Their mom was such a schemer so the apples didn't fall far from the tree," you said affectionately, remembering the woman you called your best friend.
"They take after Eunmi but their hearts are in the right place." Seonghwa laughed. "They know that you two like each other and have been wanting you two together for a long time. Guess today, we're accomplices to their 'Matchmaker-Twins'. Right, Captain?"
"Yes, we are," Hongjoong piped up.
You giggled at the remark, realizing that the others were in cahoots with the twins' scheme. You rolled your eyes, not surprised that all the kids and adults are in on the plans the two made for the day, the rest of the group joining in, egging the girls on, and enabling the twins to go along with their plots and plans.
After helping the twins and the other kids settle into their 'camping spots', and getting them properly settled in their temporary sleeping arrangements in the living room and putting them down for a nap, you and Jongho retired to the back room to relax in peace and quiet until the kids wake up again.
The two of you climbed into the bed and under the sheets, settling down on top of the covers. You and Jongho simultaneously sighing in relaxation and content. Jongho rolled over onto his left side and pulled your body, snug to his and against his chest, hooking his chin on your shoulder.
"Want to get a quick nap in?" you ask.
"I know something that will put us right to sleep," Jongho whispered, pressing a gentle kiss against your neck, right below your ear, causing you to shiver at the contact.
"Now?" You teased, a smirk playing across your features.
"Why do you think Mingi gave us the very private room in the cabin? I guarantee he put two-and-two together, plus heard my little munchkins' schemes, so..." Jongho retorted, continuing his little trail of pecks along the expanse of skin on your neck. You bit your bottom lip in anticipation. His mouth was trailing hot and open kisses along your exposed flesh, his tongue flicking at the curve of your shoulder. The trail continued downward until he was stopped by the cloth covering your skin. Jongho looked up at you. "What do you say, baby? Wanna?"
In response, you reach down to pull up the shirt you were wearing up and over your head. Dropping it to the floor next to the bed. "We need to hurry, though. Mingi said the kids are probably going to wake up in the next hour, maybe, to finish up their outdoor activities."
"An hour is more than enough time," Jongho murmured against your jawline, pulling you towards him and capturing your lips in a hungry, passionate kiss as you grind against his groin. "More than enough..."
The atmosphere grew heated rather fast and in no time at all, the two of you were bare of your clothes, warm skin touching warm skin, his lips chasing yours and yours chasing his, trying to feel him as close as possible.
"Get your pretty ass up here. Ride my face." Jongho demanded.
"You're kidding," You choked out in disbelief, he shook his head at your words, his hands traveling down your curves.
"Nah, get up here. Sit on daddy's face." His words were a breathy moan against the crook of your neck and you felt yourself blush from head to toe.
"Jongho," you whined.
Jongho moaned desperately and pinned you to the bed, lifting you by the back of your thighs easily and throwing your legs over his shoulders as he laid back on the bed, his dark eyes burning into yours, "Please?"
"Are you trying to kill me?" You asked, giggling as he stared at you.
"Just turn around," Jongho chuckled, and the next second you gasped as his hands grasped you tightly and pulled you around to where his face was inches from your soaked core. "Hands on the headboard and keep still."
His firm demand sent heat shooting throughout your stomach and down into your aching pussy, and you quickly scrambled to grab onto the headboard. You almost jumped out of your skin as his tongue took a long, slow lick up the length of your slit, your grip on the wood tightening as he slowly began circling his tongue over your clit.
The wet heat that pressed against your sensitive bundle of nerves was almost overwhelming and you ground your teeth as Jongho began pushing his tongue against you rhythmically, licking and sucking at you as he tried to fuck you with his tongue. His ministrations were methodical and measured, never picking up the pace too much, but applying an immense amount of pressure every time he moved against you.
Your head was swimming at this point, the feeling of his soft mouth pressing against your drenched pussy was sending shockwaves of pleasure all throughout your body, causing your nipples to harden and your mind to reel. You couldn't keep yourself from whimpering slightly at the way his fingers dug into the soft flesh of your thighs, and your hips jerked downwards involuntarily in an attempt to feel his tongue deep within you.
A guttural groan erupted from within his throat, and it reverberated against you as his grip on your thighs became impossibly tighter. He pinned you against his mouth so that you couldn't squirm against him again, keeping you on his tongue so that it could continue massaging over every sensitive bit of your pussy.
And before you even realized what you were doing, you had clenched your thighs around his head, not allowing his head to budge from underneath your hips. He moaned against your flesh and picked up the speed of his movements, sloppily lapping at you and dipping his tongue deep inside, stretching your clenching walls, working your entire core in a way that was sending you barreling into a quick and intense orgasm. Your legs bucked out on either side of him as you moaned loudly, pressing his tongue deep inside of you.
"Gosh, Jongho! F-Fuck!" You moaned, pushing your hips down and riding his face vigorously until your entire core pulsed, sending warm shockwaves rippling through your whole body.
When you finally finished clenching your thighs around his head, Jongho managed to lift his head up just enough to begin sucking hard on your oversensitive clit. "Don't fucking move," He murmured against you.
As your head slowly spun, he held himself there, moaning against your wet flesh. Jongho would not allow you to recover, and his tongue never stopped its movements, continuing to lick at your walls as if he could drink every bit of you in.
"Taste so good…" He breathed, kissing your inner thigh gently.
"Oh please..." you whispered and gasped as the pressure of his mouth against you suddenly increased, Jongho moaning obscenely beneath you.
"You make the prettiest noises..." Jongho said as you felt his hot breath fan against your overly sensitive pussy, his mouth moving against you rapidly, almost as though it couldn't kiss you deeply enough. "Couldn't help but be noisy could ya? Little tease..."
"Baby, I can't cum again..." Your whole body was beginning to spasm now as the warmth between your legs threatened to burst again, his lips pressing hard against your clit and sucking deep and slow. Your vision was going white as the pressure built in you. You could feel yourself climbing toward yet another earth shattering release as you leaned against the headboard for support, knuckles turning white from your iron-like grasp.
But Jongho never let up, relentlessly dragging his mouth over your swollen sex and moaning hotly as he pleasured you, eyes closing in rapture as he lost himself in the taste of you. "Can you cum again? Can you cum on my tongue, beautiful?"
Your grip on the headboard tightened impossibly and before you knew it, you were cumming, your body jerking in time with your pulsing pussy, soaking him as you released everything within you.
Once your high fizzled out, and your heartbeat returned to a normal rate, you were feeling your body growing tired. Your fingers and arms and legs were sore. "Jongho..I need a break..." you sighed, leaning down to try and push his head away, your words sounding more desperate than you'd meant them. "I can't cum again like this, it's too much.."
"Then do you want me to fuck your pretty pussy?" Jongho asked, looking up at you through dark eyelashes as he circled his tongue against you. "I could kiss this pretty pussy all day long, but I don't think you can wait anymore."
You bit your lip hard at the words and glanced behind you to see Jongho pumping his thick member with his hand, still holding you in place with his other arm. "Please..." you murmured.
With a pleased groan, he helped turn you back around, moving both of you until he was positioned on top, spreading you wide apart and nudging his tip against your swollen entrance.
"Stop teasing me," you whined, the sight of his twitching length inches from where you needed it made you a bit crazy. Jongho chuckled lightly and captured your lips as he slowly pushed himself in.
You could not stop the moan that escaped your lips the second Jongho was balls-deep inside your pussy, your arms flying around his neck, clinging on tightly. He fit inside you so well, filling you up in every conceivable way, the tip of his cock hitting every hidden part of you.
His lips travelled along your neck and collar, sucking and kissing the soft flesh. Your mouth was still agape, hanging low with no sound, only letting out little gasps as his tip brushed past the deepest part of you, sending warmth radiating throughout every nerve-ending.
"My beautiful baby.." Jongho hummed, pulling out gently before pounding into you, one strong arm wrapping around your hips and lifting them so he could pound against a different spot deep within you.
Suddenly it seemed to you as if Jongho's tip were brushing over your clit each time it pulled back before sliding deep into your entrance.
You gripped him tighter as his hips moved back and forth. Before you knew it, Jongho's name tumbled out of your lips as he hit a soft spot of yours.
"Jonghooo..." you moaned, losing your mind.
"Gonna fill your pussy up with my cum...make you take it..." Jongho growled, snapping his hips up again with more force.
"Wanna give you my kids. Would you like that? Add another to our family?" He groaned against your neck, squeezing your ass, then swatting it.
He pushed himself in as far as he could, biting your earlobe as his member twitched inside of you, "Tell me, baby. Do you like being a mommy to me and my twins, and being my pretty wife? Don't want anyone else...only my baby. I love you so much. You and my girls..."
"I love you and the girls too, Jongho. So, so much." You respond, feeling the tell-tale signs of the pleasure building deep within.
"Do you want to cum, my love? Gonna take every drop of daddy's cum inside?" he moaned into your ear. His husky voice was so hot, and the feeling of him, pressed into you, so unbelievably warm and powerful, caused your body to tense, and then go limp under his strong hands. "Want to give you a baby too, sweetheart. I'm ready for another set of twins, and another set after that, if I'm blessed with it."
And when Jongho slid his tip between your sensitive folds, hitting every raw spot he could as your body shook, that was it. The walls of your pussy contracted against him, a gush of his cum emptied inside of you, making its way to your awaiting womb, hoping for it to take seed and create more lives. You moaned and threw your head back, thrusting your hips upwards to meet his one final time.
Jongho grunted into your shoulder as he fucked his load into you, cumming as deep inside you as he could possibly go and taking deep breaths.
You wrap your legs around his waist, locking him against you and pushing his cock to the hilt inside your dripping walls, not willing to let a single drop escape. His pulsing cock makes your core pulse. The two of you stay as still as possible as you catch your breath, Jongho breathing hot air down your chest.
"Don't you dare pull out yet, Choi Jongho," you ordered firmly. You needed him close, wanted him near you. Jongho smiled up at you.
"Is that what you want?"
"Mmmmhhmmm..." you moan, and wiggle your hips to make his cock stir your insides. Jongho moaned back into the mattress and grabbed your waist tightly. You squeal in delight at his sudden movement, then press your lips firmly against his, claiming him as your own.
"Y/N...would you marry me?" Jongho asked softly a few minutes later, as he propped up on his left elbow and looked deeply into your eyes, stroking your hair gently. "Officially be the girls' mother and my wife? I was hoping..."
He reached down beneath the pillows, and pulled something from underneath it. He looked shy as he revealed a black velvet box in the palm of his hand, holding it out towards you. "Would you, please?"
"Yes, Jongho." You say in response, watching him open the small, velvet box. Jongho exhales and a smile appears on his handsome features as he pulls the ring out of its housing, sliding the metal band on your ring finger of your left hand. "Absolutely yes."
It fit perfectly.
He crushed his lips to yours and you sighed into the passionate kiss, running your hands through his hair as his tongue pressed inside. It felt good, almost too good, but he pulled away and laid back on the bed.
After a while of cuddling, kissing, and playing with his hair, Jongho buried his head in the crook of you neck. "I think we should clean the sheets, shower and just cuddle..." He said quietly. "I have a feeling that the girls will barge in once they're awake and we don't need them seeing this mess or smelling the room."
You hum in agreement. You and Jongho kiss softly, barely audible 'I love you's' being whispered between the two of you, your fingers running through his silky strands. You love this. You're so in love and you can't imagine not being with Jongho, and you truly love and adore his two girls.
After getting the room and the two of you cleaned, and the sheets changed and clothes pulled back on, the two of you laid comfortably in bed in each other's arms.
Jongho turned so that he was hovering over you, one hand propping him up, the other lightly caressing your cheek and thumb tracing your bottom lip. He lowered his head and brushed his nose against yours, lightly pressing his lips against yours. He pulled away to see your cheeks a rosy tint of pink. He leaned his forehead on yours and chuckled. He went back in to continue kissing you.
The door flew open and the bed dipped as two weights jumped onto the end of the bed. Jongho rolled over, the twins landing in the bed, bouncing with their jump, laughing loudly. Joomi moved to sit on your lap, and Jooeun did the same with her dad.
"How was your nap?" You asked the girls, hearing the loud screams of the other children and their parents somewhere in the cabin.
"Good but we're hungry and Uncle Joong told us to wake you up for lunch, so we did! But we didn't run here. We walked." Joomi said.
"Yes," Jooeun agrees.
"Are you sure you walked or ran? I heard some feet scampering down the hall when I woke up," you smirked and booped their noses. They giggled.
"Y/N, are you and Daddy a couple now?" Joomi whispered in your ear. You heard Jooeun asking her dad the same thing.
You and Jongho both chanced a glance at the other before saying at the same time, "Are we?"
Jongho laughed before leaning in and giving you a small kiss on the lips. He also glanced at the girls who were jumping and cheering in your arms. "Why don’t we get you girls and Mommy something to eat?"
"I could hear them telling the other adults that their little plan worked." You whispered. The twins were talking your ears off, excited that you were going to be their new mother now that you and their daddy had finally gotten together.
"I love you." Jongho kissed you as the four of you walked together out to where the other adults were, to have their lunch.
"I love you, too." You kissed him back before kissing the top of the twins' heads. "And I love my new little girls so much."
The twins squealed and screamed louder, "Mommy, yay!" They both launched at you, hugging the life out of you.
"C'mon Mommy, lunch now!" Jooeun pulled you forward towards the table that had been set up for the lunch buffet style. Joomi held out her hands, palm open, to her dad. Jongho chuckled before interlacing his fingers with hers. The four of you walked towards the long table where the rest of your friends and the kids had already made their way to and piled their plates with their food, before sitting together and enjoying their food.
"Told you the plan would work!" The twins exclaimed, the adults laughing.

saturday ~ september 13th ~ 11:49 pm
Burying your face into his neck, tightening your arms around his torso, you slung a leg over his waist and scooted even closer.
“You can’t take up the same space as me, Ro,” Wooyoung mumbled, lifting his chin for you. Taking the win, nuzzling yourself further into him, you took a long, deep breath. “That was good.” His whispered compliment made you smile.
His cologne lived on his skin, his bare chest you laid on top of, the soft scent now intertwined with remnants of him. Comforting.
An hour ago he was driving you home, holding onto your hand from the driver's seat, his thumb massaging into the palm of your hand. A few silent tears had slipped down your cheeks, ones he hasn’t asked you about yet, but you knew the questions were coming. He couldn’t ask you during the drive. Your father sat in the backseat.
His surprise birthday dinner had been a success, he had no idea where you were going, what had been planned, and amidst any and all delusional distractions, he’d had a great time. Wearing a smile for most of the evening, taking photos of himself, of you, of Wooyoung, of Keeho and Theo who had joined the three of you… Your father was happy. He sat beside you, talked with you, and laughed with you. Light lived in his eyes. It’d been a weary two months, so to have him upright, smiling, and speaking in full sentences, relief wasn’t enough of a word to describe how it felt.
Wooyoung dipped his chin and looked down toward you. Taking a hand from your back he swiped his thumb over your cheek and whispered, “You’re crying.”
“No m’not,” you mumbled into his shoulder, and he let out a quiet laugh.
“Ro, your tears are dripping onto my chest, you’re crying.”
“I’m drooling.”
This time he laughed for real, and you couldn’t help but smile.
“You haven’t drooled over me in a while,” his hand caressed your cheek, tilting your chin up, “Either you’re crying, or we need to have a conversation.”
His black waves, shorter now that he’s cut them, they lived over his forehead, dusting his lashes that fluttered around his deep brown eyes. Golden skin, a beautiful curved nose, a freckle on his cheek… The two of you used to spend nights devouring one another, famished, never getting enough. Hands palming skin, teeth grazing curves, tongues teasing sweet spots, breath heavy, bodies sweaty.
Now they’re spent like this. Tangled up with one another. Platonically. Mostly.
Okay, maybe there’d been one ATZ party a week ago where he pushed you up against the bathroom wall and brought you to orgasm twice, but, platonically, of course.
That love and relationship mess, neither of you had the time or patience for it, which in turn led your situationship to an almost hard stop. Mutually. You’ve grown up in the near complete year you’ve spent together, you’ve helped one another in more ways than one, you learned about yourselves, you made it through hardships with someone by your side, and realized that the love you had for each other wasn’t romantic in the slightest.
Someone else held onto that within you.
“Why the tears?” he asked gently, dragging his thumb beneath your lashes.
Pouting, you whispered, “They all think we’re dating. You heard Keeho tonight.”
“The wedding joke?” Wooyoung asked, and when you nodded he clicked his tongue. “Didn’t bother me.”
“My dad loves you, what am I supposed to say to him?”
Shifting beneath you, he let out a breath. “You tell him the truth.”
“You know what he says about you,” you mumbled, “He’s said shit to your face.”
Wooyoung is incredible, I don’t know where you found him, but he’s unlike any other boy your age.
Bring Wooyoung over for dinner, or after, or let’s go to Haven, I need to talk to him about something…
How’s Wooyoung doing? That kid is great, I’m so happy you found him.
Haven’t seen Wooyoung for a minute, he alright?
Wooyoung is fine. Wooyoung is alive, and well, and thriving, and fine.
You just weren’t dating him.
And to roll with the truths, you never were.
The relationship you shared never escalated past a mere friends with benefits type of level, and you were okay with that. He had been there for you when you needed a crutch, when you needed someone to catch you, someone to step up for you. You’ve had the conversations, you’ve heard his theories, everything had been discussed at some point or another, even more so since Yeonjun had been hospitalized.
You never used him, you never took advantage of his feelings nor did he take advantage of yours. At one point you both felt that feeling, that this is mine feeling, but then July came to an end. Life had been put into extreme perspective. You almost lost your best friend this summer, the boy you love won’t speak to you, and your father has to go see a cardiac specialist once a week for the rest of the year.
On top of that, recruitment hung over your head like a dark cloud. ITZ, buzzing with life and an energy so light that the new girls seemed to skip around the hardwood floors, twirling like they belonged in some Disney film, she was your responsibility, the sorority. The big decisions, they fell on you. Just tonight at dinner you received three texts from Seonghwa with questions about the dinner, when it was going to be planned and if he was going to hear from Chaewon, the newly appointed social chair, Tori’s old position, or hear from you, the president.
It all felt so big, the unease something you scrambled to hold within your hands, an attempt to control it though it’d be impossible.
“Aurora,” Wooyoung whispered, dragging his hand over your cheek. His thumb brushed away stray tears. “We know what we are. I know what we are, if you’re trying to spare my feelings, don’t. You love him.”
“You don’t like him,” you whispered.
Wooyoung perked his brows. “Can you blame me? It’s something I can work on, but he hurt you, and he continues to hurt you. I don’t like what he said to you, I don’t like how he’s been treating you.”
Taking a breath, you whispered, “If I can get over that, can’t you?”
“It won’t be easy,” he said, blinking toward you, his long lashes brushing his cheeks. “But, I can try.
“Tori kinda doesn’t wanna talk to me about him,” you said, pushing your hands into his bare chest, “I need someone to say things to, Wooyoung, you can’t leave me hanging.”
He smiled and took his hand away from your cheek. “Why won’t she talk about him?”
“Because… They’re all friends again,” you whispered. Wooyoung’s lips formed a frown. Laying back down on his chest, he nestled his chin in your hair. “Her, Yunho, Mingi… The three of them, they’re good. She doesn't do it on purpose, I just know that she doesn’t wanna hear the stupid shit anymore.”
Wooyoung breathed. “So, you agree that it’s stupid? This thing going on with him? Not talking to each other?”
Scrunching up your face, you groaned. “Of course it’s stupid,” you muttered. “But, this is how it goes. The drama.”
“Can’t have you guys without it, can we?” he half asked, following up with a giggle.
Laughing with him, one half hearted, you picked up your head and smiled. “Why do I enjoy it?”
Placing both hands on both of your cheeks, he squished your lips and shook his head. “‘Cause as long as you’re playing this game you still have him. Does he talk about you? Does Tori tell you anything he says?”
Blinking, you averted your eyes to his chest. “He does,” you whispered. “She’ll tell me, but it’s small mentions, nothing more.”
“So he’s interested, then,” he said, and you pursed your lips. “What’s stopping this from happening?”
You whispered so quietly, “He’s the worst,” and Wooyoung cracked a laugh.
“He’s mad you tried to cut him off and attempted to move on with me,” he said. “We all know this. He hated me from the start ‘cause you liked me first.”
Furrowing your brows, you said, “He had every chance to make a move then, and he didn’t. He waited until I was crying in his arms. What’s that say about him?”
Wooyoung huffed. “That he doesn’t know how to make a move.”
You slumped on top of him, face into chest. “And it’s adorable.”
Rolling his eyes, throwing his hands out, Wooyoung laughed and slid them around your back. “You’re something else, you know that? Make up your mind, is he a jackass, are you in love with him, does he suck, do you want him?”
Muffled by his chest you mumbled, “Hell yeah, I want him.” Wooyoung laughed. Picking up your head, your eyes softened. “My dad doesn’t like him. There’s too much happening right now, I can’t tell him any of this.”
He drew one of his hands in a circle. “Ro, you have to. You can’t lie to him. This isn’t something we can pretend to do for the rest of our lives. You want Yunho, you want to be with Yunho, and eventually I’m gonna find someone too, and they aren’t going to be okay with me having an imaginary girlfriend.”
You pouted. “I guess not.”
Wooyoung narrowed his eyes. Sitting up, he brought you with him, your legs wrapping around his waist. Glancing down between you, he sat your hands on your lap and maneuvered you off of him. “Let’s start with this,” he said as he moved over, giving you space to sit beside him. “No more physical stuff between us, okay?” A smile broke out on his face at the sight of yours, distraught. “Ro, you want to be with him, you can’t be doing these kinds of things with me.”
Shoving your hands in your lap, you sighed. “Yeah, okay.” You dropped your head. He took a hand beneath your chin and lifted it, forcing you to look at him.
“What happened to Aurora?” he asked, voice soft, tone gentle. “You were once a girl who didn’t take anyone's shit, now you fawn any chance you get.”
Gulping, he felt it. “Shouldn’t you know the answer to that?”
He smiled. “I do know the answer to that,” he said, pressing his fingers into your cheeks. “I can remember those first two years, freshman and sophomore year, how different they were from the last… From the start of this one. You were loud, in the best way possible, and I thought,” he paused to laugh, “Either this girl is the shit, or she’s fighting to be seen.”
Blinking, a tear slipping down your cheek, you whispered, “Which one was it?”
Wooyoung brushed your cheek clean and brought his hand back to himself. Tilting his head, he smiled. “She’s the shit. She’s everything you could ever want. She’s kind, she’s thoughtful, she’s in a thousand places at once at all times, but she won’t ever forget to let you know that she loves you.” He took you in, then sucked in a deep breath. “She knows where she belongs, but she’s afraid to admit it. She’s scared, of a lot, and she has every right to be,” he leaned forward to wipe your cheeks once more, the tears streaming, “Her life hasn’t been easy, but it can be. She just has to remember who she is.”
Falling forward, catching him in a hug, his arms strapping around your body tight, through a shaky breath you whispered, “Thank you. For everything. I do love you, Wooyoung. So much.”
Taking a hand to the back of your head, he grazed his nails against your scalp and smiled. “I know. I love you too, Aurora. I’ll always be here for you. You can do this.”
A sob thundered through you, your hands clutching onto him tighter. From a tiny spark of a crush, to a sophomore fling, burning out to utter heart broken strangers, blazing back into full time lovers, cooling off to friends hurt more than it should.
“What if I miss you,” you whispered between sniffles, “What if I can’t do this?”
“You can,” he soothed, running his fingers through your hair.
“But, this is it,” you said, pulling away from him. With hands on his shoulders, you squeezed him. “I tell him this, and it’s really over.” Wooyoung tried to keep a light smile on his face, but his pout persevered. “He’s getting calls from my mom, Wooyo. I can’t handle that. He can’t handle that. What if it gets worse with her, what if she tries to show up, what if she tries to… I don’t know, get to him?”
“I’m not going anywhere,” he said. “I’ll be here for you, we’re friends, you’re the closest one I have right now, I’m not going anywhere. If she tries to do anything else, anything more, I’ll be the first one beside you to kick her ass. You’re not alone in this. Ending our,” he searched for the word and came up with a shrug, “Relationship, doesn’t mean we’re ending our friendship, this connection we have and share. I don’t want to lose that, whether you get with Yunho or not.”
Nodding, you wiped your own cheeks and tried to take a deep breath. “Okay, I’ll tell him.” Moving off of the bed, Wooyoung followed you, kicking his legs off the side.
“Wait,” he said, hushed and rushed, “Right now?!”
Stepping into the center of your room, you gave him a look. “Yes, right now. If I don’t do it now, I never will.”
He dug his fingers into the sheets. “I’m still here, what’s he gonna say about that? Are you going to tell him the actual truth?”
Tossing your hands aside, you let them clap against your thighs. “The truth or not, what do you want me to tell him, Wooyoung, I’m confused!”
He slid his hands over his sweatpants and took a deep breath. “You tell him whatever you want to tell him, Ro. I just wanna be prepared if I have an angry dad barging in here or not.”
Taking yourself to the door, you yanked on the handle and pulled it open. “He can’t move that fast right now,” you said to him, and gave him no further context. He nearly leapt off the bed as you winked at him through the crack of the door as you pulled it closed.
Crossing your arms over your chest in the silent hallway, you took a moment to breathe. Empty walls stared at you, the vacant space sent a chill down your spine. To your right, the sight of the kitchen made your stomach sink. Empty. Taking a few steps toward it, you peeked into the living room and clenched your jaw. Only the couch and chairs remained. Everything else had been packed up. You and your fathers life, almost thirty years of it, in boxes.
The clothes you didn’t take with you to Nasara got folded into cardboard and duct taped shut. Shoes, books, plushies, bed sheets, bath towels, picture frames and polaroids that used to hang on your walls, all of it. Packed up.
Memories lived within these beaten up walls, every scuff and knick in the paint courtesy of you and Keeho. All of your firsts happened here, you took your first steps down this hallway, your first A+ got hung up on the fridge that still stood in the kitchen, your first kiss happened on the porch, your first time on the couch in the living room, your Nasara acceptance letter opened in the kitchen, your dad helping you pack your suitcase the summer before freshman year…
He was going to live with Yoongi for now, until you graduated, though he tells you indefinitely so that you can move on with your life. You once dreamed of moving out on your own, somewhere up in Iloa had always been the goal, the city, but now, after this summer, everything’s changed.
You couldn’t leave him alone. Even now that the first semester has started you’ve spent more time at home then school it seems. Wooyoung willing to drive the two of you back and forth from Delo to downtown Tamoe, either dropping you off for the weekend or spending a night with you and Yeonjun, he did it for you, to ease your mind, to put an end to your worries about him.
The idea of leaving him, of moving out and not living in the bedroom next to him- terrified you.
His door, white and scuffed like yours, one you’ve opened many times in the middle of the night as a child, and a few times as of recent, though the nightmares that plagued you now were much different than the monsters that haunted you at seven years old. When he first came home, Yoongi stayed with you for a while, he either stayed in your bedroom or on the couch. You slept next to your father, starting on the floor, until you migrated into bed beside him, sitting up against the headboard, knees tucked into your chest, watching him sleep.
Those nights left you scatterbrained, sleepless hours exhausting you, a walking corpse who couldn’t drink enough coffee, who Wooyoung couldn’t snap back to reality. Some days you couldn’t place your left from your right, your actuality from delusion. He cooked for you and Yeonjun, he drove to some doctors appointments if Yoongi wasn’t available, he called Yeonjun to check in if he hadn’t been around in a couple of days.
Your rock once again. Selfless, compassionate, caring.
Whipping around to glare at your bedroom door, you sucked in a breath and released it with a sigh.
Maybe it’s a mistake walking away from him. Maybe putting an end to what the two of you shared would do more damage than good. There’s the chance that Yunho would never look at you again, never speak to you again, and here you were walking away from one of the greatest things that's ever happened to you. In these months you’ve shared with him he’s taught you more than you’ve ever known in your twenty two years of living.
Footsteps sounded behind your bedroom door and before you had the chance to scurry off somewhere, he opened the door, surprised to see you. Looking from your pout, to your folded arms, to how you barely made it down the hallway, Wooyoung shut your door as quietly as he could and stepped in front of you.
Taking his hands to your cheeks, he smoothed his thumbs beneath your lashes and smiled. “I’m not letting you not do this,” he whispered.
“Where were you going?”
The worry in your tone made him frown. “The bathroom,” he assured you, “I’m not leaving.”
“Promise?”
He nodded once, coming closer to you. “Promise,” his eyes flickered to your lips, “I’m gonna give you this one last time, okay?”
Breath hitching in your chest, eyes fluttering shut, you nodded, whispering, “Okay,” and he pressed his lips to yours, catching them in a kiss so soft your knees buckled. Sliding your arms around his shoulders, an attempt to deepen what he gave you, he allowed it for a few seconds, then pulled away.
With eyes on your lips, he smiled. Brushing his nose against yours, he whispered, “I’m officially off limits, Ro.”
A whine caught in your throat. “I don’t get San rules, what is this? I can control myself.”
Pulling away from you completely, starting opposite down the hallway, he shrugged and cracked a hushed laugh. “Think it’s more for me than it is for you,” he said with a cock of his chin, his bronze skin on display. Holding up both hands, walking backward, he opened and closed his fists twice and grinned. “You’re off limits now, too.” He disappeared behind the bathroom door.
If you knew that this would be it a half hour ago, that that kiss would be the last thing the two of you share, you would’ve crawled on top of him sooner, held off your tears for a moment, and let your lips dance across his skin persuading him into one more night before it all came to end.
Even if you tried, he wouldn’t let you. Whether he knew what you were doing or not, whether or not he knew he was ending everything tonight. That the two of you were ending everything tonight. This was mutual. You both wanted this to happen.
It split your heart in two, and to make matters worse, the thought of Yunho didn’t glue it back together. The thought of Yunho grabbed both broken ends by the throat, twisted them together, strangled them, squeezed the life out of them, and threw them to the ground. You could watch him do it, you could visualize it now, similar to that night on the beach, on the porch in Haos, Yunho screaming at you, red in the fucking face. You never wanted him more.
Tori told you of the night the two of you spent at Wave, the nightclub you ran into Yunho at. You barely remembered a thing, but she told you all about how he didn’t speak a word to you, how he was still respecting what you had told him no matter how silly it all seemed to everyone else. He helped you, he kept you on your feet, he carried you out of the bar, he sat with you on the beach, he held onto you like he couldn’t lose you, like getting to be with you that night even if you told him to his face how awful he was, it’s the one night from this summer he’ll never forget, one he still thinks of, because even for twenty minutes, you were his.
Then it went back to shit.
She told you what you called him. What you said about Wooyoung and your relationship, that you were jealous of her and Mingi, how they were soulmates, and yours hated you.
He hasn’t acknowledged you at an ATZ party yet this semester. You’ve walked by him on the way to class this past week since they’ve started, he doesn’t spare you a glance. The only message you got this summer since leaving Haos, one about Yeonjun, short and respectful, all centered around your father and how Yunho sends his healing prayers. It’s something you could dive deeper into, but you got a message from all of them, every guy, every single one of your friends, they all sent something similar. Yunho’s wasn’t special.
But, it stuck with you.
Those sleepless nights, eyes locked in to the rise and fall of Yeonjun’s chest, leaning closer if he’d turned over in his sleep just to make sure he was still breathing, all that time spent awake on your own, you thought of him. Crawling into bed alone, it was him you imagined beside you, holding you, listening to you cry and ramble off your fears. You knew he’d make them his own, he’d hold onto them, cage them within himself so he’d never have to watch you feel them ever again. Wooyoung could help heal, but Yunho would immortalize you given the chance.
At least at one point it felt that way.
You wanted it back, you wanted it all back, even if it meant arguing for months before breaking through solution. You’d rather have screaming match after screaming match instead of this devout act of silence.
The toilet flushed. Wooyoung was about to come back to bed and you were still standing in the middle of the hallway.
Clutching your arms tight, you whirled around and gripped the handle of your fathers bedroom door. Swallowing away nausea, tensing your muscles to rid of the nerves shaking through you, you pushed open his door and stepped inside, closing it carefully.
Sitting up, leaning against the headboard scrolling through his phone, he nearly broke his neck when the door opened.
“Aura,” he said swiftly, sitting forward, watching you walk around his bed, unable to meet his eyes. “What’s the matter?”
Throat tightening, tears welling up in your eyes, the sob fell from you just before you were face down on his pillows, flopping onto his mattress, rolling yourself up in a throw blanket laying across the comforter he laid beneath.
“Aurora,” he said again, voice raised, glancing from his door to you. “Did something happen? What’s going… What’s…”
His voice trailed off. It only made you sob harder, wondering what went through his mind, what he could be thinking about right now.
His dinner had been perfect, and though you and Wooyoung appeared to act as nothing more than close friends, no one clocked the act. You sat beside him and lied to him, there’d been no inkling as to whether or not you two were breaking up.
Then again, just before the check arrived, taking photos of Keeho, Theo, and your dad who never wanted to be in any photos ever, the unimaginable happened. Your mother, Seori, called him, while you held onto his phone, leading you to sift through his missed calls, his unopened voicemails he seemed to be ignoring, and at first you scoffed at his ignorance and wanted to help him clear them out, but then you listened. Reading over the AI script left behind underneath a thirty second message, you pressed the phone to your ear, and you listened to her voice.
For the first time in your life, you heard your mother speak.
Moments like this have always played through your mind at random, mostly when you were a child, imagining what it’d be like to have a mother, or to have her come back. Seulgi had been the closest thing you had, her and Keeho’s mother who treated you more like a daughter than her eldest son’s best friend. But, to have that connection with one, a mother, one you came from, you figured it’d feel more cinematic than sitting in a restaurant listening to her beg your father to see him over voicemail.
The first experience you had with her.
Desperate, near tears.
Not in the slightest the strong woman Yeonjun made her out to be.
She’d been bothering him, and that infuriated you most of all.
It all came out of you at once, in one big jumble of words lost in the pillows, mere gibberish Yeonjun couldn’t even make out.
Wooyoung, your mother, Yunho, the presidency, your worries about him and his health, you spewed as much of it as you could, words overlapping, words half cut off by sobs, sentences broken in two and merged with another.
Yeonjun scooted closer to you and placed a hand over your back, drawing it in circles.
“Aura, sit up, please,” he said softly. Your mumbles didn’t stop. “I can’t hear a word you’re saying, please, sit up. Calm down. Talk to me.”
Lifting your head, face stained with tears, little hairs sticking to your dewey forehead, Yeonjun pouted his lips and pushed your hair back. He palmed both your cheeks and wiped your tears, then swiped a thumb beneath your nose. Muscle memory.
“Do we need a snack?” he asked. An attempt to get you to smile. Teary nights used to end with him carrying you on his hip into the kitchen, sitting you down on the counter so he could search through the cabinets over your head for cookies or something to make the hurt sweeter.
You used to think he didn’t care. Somehow those memories got overshadowed by his disappearances down to Contramano, the time he’d spent away from the house, the business trips he’d take. Your mind focused on all those moments, days without hearing from him, detainment, picking him up at the station, leaving him there one night because you were fed up.
It took a lot for you to remind yourself that in between all of that he would walk you into the kitchen and feed you sweets while you cried. Even if he didn’t know what to say, if he couldn’t understand why you were crying, he still tried.
Flopping back down face first on his bed, you sobbed again. Remembering hurt. Especially now. You’d do anything to go back in time before July, anything to relive those moments, to appreciate them a little bit more, to thank him for everything he’s done for you. You sobbed.
Yeonjun pressed his lips together and sighed to himself.
“It’s because of her, isn’t it?”
The hurt in his voice had you springing up to your knees.
“No,” you spat. Dragging the back of your hand over your cheeks, you choked back a sob and muttered, “Yes?” Meeting his eyes, his brows flipped over as he watched you. “I don’t know?!” “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you,” he said.
Shaking your head, forcing yourself to take a deep breath, you said, “It’s fine, it’s not that, I didn’t need to know, you know that, we’ve talked about her before, I just…” Swallowing a sob, you met his gaze and frowned. “I don’t want her bothering you,” you whispered, tears slipping down your cheeks. “She needs to leave you alone, she doesn’t matter, you’ve got too much going on, and she’s never done anything for you, she-”
“She gave me you,” he said with utmost care, silencing you and your cries. Eyes glistening, his lips perked into a tiny smile. He slid a hand over his chest, over his heart. “If not for you, something like this would’ve happened to me a long ass time ago, Aura. I’ve said it to Yoongi, but I don’t think I’ve said it to you.” He thinned his lips and bobbed his head, his words knocking the breath from your lungs. “You saved my life.”
Your sobs came back, a laugh sparking at his lips.
“Aurora,” he nearly roared, tipping his head backward, a grin on his face, “The drama, who are you? You’re supposed to tell me to shut the fuck up, or shove me, or spit an ‘Ewe!’ to my face!”
Moving over the comforter you nestled into his side to his surprise, taking your hands over one of his, slinging his arm around you. “That was before I thought I’d never lose you.”
He scoffed, his hand dragging across your arm, soothing you. “Please, nothing can take me out. All the shit I’ve been through? It’s gonna take a lot more to get rid of me.”
“Don’t talk like that,” you whispered, and he laughed again.
“Seriously,” he breathed, “You’re different. And as much as I appreciate it, it’s throwing me off.”
You grit your teeth together. “Apologies, Junie, that the sight of you unconscious in a hospital bed has changed me.”
He let out a quiet laugh. “There you are,” he whispered. “Just thought my girl was losing her bite.”
“Oh, don’t worry,” you mumbled, “She’s got plenty of that left.”
Yeonjun nodded, then tapped his fingers on your shoulder. “Why don’t you tell me about it. There’s more bugging you. I can feel it. We’ll leave the Seori stuff alone.” Her name made you shiver. “I’m not answering her calls, and they aren’t bothering me like you think they might be. Let’s leave it at that.”
“If it gets worse you have to tell me,” you whispered, and he nodded quickly.
“Deal. Now tell me what else is going on.”
Taking a breath, you let it out in a pathetic attempt and closed your eyes.
Now or never.
“Wooyoung and I are broken up.”
His hand stopped moving on your arm. Even his breath staggered for a second. Opening your eyes, you gave him a look. He stared down at you.
“You and Wooyoung are… Wooyoung, in the other room, Wooyoung? In your room? Wooyoung who drove us to dinner, Wooyoung?”
“Yes,” you whispered, keeping your smile to yourself. It wasn’t funny, but the way he spewed his confusion amused you.
“I don’t,” he paused, lifting his head to stare at the wall like he could see Wooyoung through it. “I don’t understand. He just broke up with you now? Is he still here? You’re telling me he broke your heart after tonight?”
The way he raised his voice somehow calmed you. You were going to have to start from the beginning. But with how he almost shouted, he cared. Looking down at you and how you’ve ceased crying, he twisted his brows together.
“Dad, we weren’t… We weren’t ever together.”
He snapped his jaw shut. Then, he glanced away from you, waiting for more, leaving you to wonder if any part of this story brought back memories for him.
“We… had feelings for each other, but I think once everything calmed down and we could look at things the way they really were, we realized we were better off as friends.”
He shot you a look. “He told me he loved you, Aurora.”
You sat up to face him. “And I loved him too.”
“Then why break up? Or, break things off, or, I don’t know.” His tone started to harden, sparking worry within you. “He’s so good for you, I’ve been saying half the reason why you’ve changed is because of him. I feel like our relationship has gotten better because of him.”
Rolling your head backward, you closed your eyes. “You looked back at him and his eyes softened. “I’ve realized a lot about myself, have learned a lot about myself, and sure, maybe it is because of him, but we’re getting better ‘cause of us. I want us to be better, for us.”
Yeonjun pointed his eyes to the blanket and nodded. “You’re right, I’m sorry.”
“Please, try to stay calm,” you whispered, and he met your eyes again with curiosity. “We ended things mutually. This… involvement with each other. I still want him around, as a friend.”
“Good,” he huffed, and you shook your head. “Dad,” you warned, and he took a deep breath. “Calm. Please. I came in here to talk about this, because if I don’t do it now, I never will.” He nodded, keeping his breaths steady. “Do you… Do you remember Yunho?”
His name tasted funny.
It took him a few seconds of racking his brain. When he finally placed him, he shot up straight, but didn’t say a word.
“I know,” you whispered, scrunching up your face, letting your eyes fall shut. “Yes, that Yunho.”
Yeonjun tried his hardest to keep his heart rate down. “The history kid? The one that’s friends with Tori and her boyfriend? You all would hang out? And he’s the one you spent last summer with? And when I asked you if there was more than just friendship there with him you laughed in my face? And then when you came home last year, and you told me all about what I already knew to be true? The rooftop confession? And then he broke your heart, and then that girl, Fa-”
You reached forward and gripped his arm, cutting him clean off. He took short breaths in and out of his lips. Taking your time, ignoring all he just threw at you, you took long, deep breaths, coaching him to take them with you. Once he calmed, you sat back and sighed.
“Yeah,” you shrugged. “That’s him.”
Through clenched teeth, he muttered, “What about him, Aurora?”
He was on Yeonjun’s list. This much you knew. After the incident there were a lot of people on his list.
Breaking into the smallest smile, a single tear sliding down your cheek, you parted your lips and breathed through a laugh. “I love him.”
You should’ve shot him instead, it would’ve hurt him less judging by the look on his face. Folding his hands in his lap, he closed his eyes and laid backward, leaning against the headboard.
“Aurora,” he said, voice steady, “Do you remember what he did to you?”
“Yes,” you sighed, lifting your hands, letting them fall into your lap. “But, I did things too, Dad, I’m not innocent in this argument, I actually slept with someone before I even knew he was sleeping with Mina, I-”
“Stop,” he cringed, looking over at you. “There are some things I do not need to know. It doesn’t matter what you did, he still kept it from you for a long, long time. He tells you he loves you, and he still stays with her? It’s fucked up, Aura, you deserve better than that.”
“I had better,” you said with a smile, then pointed at the wall. “He’s in there. He’s better. But, I still want Yunho. No one was dating anyone, there weren’t any boundaries broken, no cheating.”
“That doesn’t matter,” he said just above a whisper. “Trust was broken, your heart was broken. Whatever you guys had, it was broken. He broke it. You cannot sit here and tell me he ever respected you after what he’s done. Cheating or not, together or not, he fucked up.”
You’ve been over it before. Again and again you’ve laid out the cards, pondered over them, and each time, it ends the same.
You want him.
You’re still hurt, and you still want him.
“If I can get over that, can’t you?” Repeating the words you said to Wooyoung, the words you’ll have to say to two more boys in the days to follow, they didn’t have the same effect.
“No,” he said flat out, “He really hurt you, how can I forgive him for that?”
“That’s fair,” you shrugged. “There’s a slim chance of anything happening between us anyway, so maybe you’ll get your wish and I won’t end up with him.”
Yeonjun sat forward, his brows flattening over his eyes. “Why you say that?”
“Because,” you shrugged again. “We aren’t speaking.” You glanced down to your knees. “We’re not in a good place, at all. ‘Cause of what he did, actually. You say I’m losing my bite, but I put him in his place. I told him he can’t talk to me unless I talk to him first.”
“Good for you,” he whispered, and you laughed, looking up at him.
“Yeah, good for me,” you rolled your eyes, “Until now, when I want to talk to him, when I want to work things out with him and he’s still following the stupid fucking rule. It’s been almost a year, and even if I’m incoherent he still follows the rule. He won’t talk to me unless I talk to him. All it takes is one word too, and he’ll talk to me. But, I won’t do it.”
“Why?”
You shook your head. “‘Cause I think I’m hoping he’ll talk to me first. I think… I think I’m testing him. If he really wants me, if he really loves me like he said he does, like Tori tells me he acts like he does, he’ll talk to me first. He’ll forget what I said, he’ll come to me. He’ll fight for me.”
You heard Yeonjun take a breath. “What if he doesn’t because… Because he does love you, but he’s… respecting your boundaries?” He realized the irony in his words from what he’s said prior and let out the smallest of laughs. “God damn, Aurora.”
You looked at him, and he smirked down at you.
With a shake of his head, he said, “You’ve got him whipped.” A smile broke out onto your face, and he groaned. “I still don’t like it. Or him. At all. Awful.”
“I’m not a big fan of him right now either,” you whispered, wiping the smile off your cheeks. “Think that’s how I know I love him. I didn’t know what that felt like before him.”
Yeonjun bobbed his head. “I know exactly how you feel. Someone you love hurting you so bad to the point of never wanting to see them again only to have your heart crying for them every night.” Giving him a look, he shot you a side eye.
“Don’t answer her,” you whispered, and he gave you a weak wink.
“I won’t.” It fell quiet between you for a moment, until he asked, “He really won’t talk to you unless you talk to him first?”
A giggle came out of you. “Nope,” you said. “Not even a word. It’s gotten to the point where he won’t even look at me.”
Yeonjun glanced away. “Damn.”
“I know,” you breathed, “If I didn’t have Tori telling me he still asks about me I’d be thinking he wants nothing to do with me.”
Silence fell. Until he said, “You’ve been with Wooyoung all this time. Surely that’s hurt him.”
Gulping, you nodded. “It has, I know it has. He told me.”
Yeonjun scoffed. “When?”
“In Haos,” you said, looking over at him with a raise of your brows. “We… Got into a fight, it’s the last time we spoke. I wish that was it, that fight should’ve been us getting over ourselves. It was almost it, but…”
“What happened?”
Giving him a look, you smiled. “You.”
He cringed. “Eesh, sorry.”
“It’s okay,” you whispered, laughing between it. “A lot’s been put into perspective since then. I wasn’t thinking that our fight could’ve been the moment until after I flew home. You changed a lot for me. I don’t think I’d be ending things with Wooyoung, or be feeling so certain about getting Yunho back, and being only with Yunho if this summer didn’t happen. Any of it.”
His hand laid on your shoulder. Giving you the gentlest shake, he smiled at you, and whispered, “Take your time. Think. Remember.” He shook his head. “Don’t let your heart get the best of you, you’re in charge. Don’t forget that.”
monday ~ september 15th ~ 9:12 am
“And I have people coming in to clean,” Tori mumbled through the phone, half distracted by the makeup she told you she was applying at the same time. You heard the click of one of her products closing and another opening. “Caterers arriving sometime in the afternoon, I can’t remember when right now…”
Pulling your zip up around you tighter in the wind that blew through Nasara’s campus this morning, the grey skies shielded the sun, keeping any and all warmth away from you. At least everything was still green, you had about a month before everything went yellow.
“Yeah, that’s fine,” you mumbled back to her. “Anything you wanna do, it’s good.” Sidestepping a group of freshman boys running by, one of them on a skateboard, you groaned and continued your brisk walk to class, phone pressed to your ear, arm wrapped over your chest.
“You’re off,” Tori said. “Talk to me later.”
A scoff came out of you. “Damn, Tor, I had a bad weekend, give me a break. Ask me how I am before you assume I don’t wanna talk to you.”
You listened as she took a deep breath, the line silent for a few seconds before she answered. “How are you?”
“Not great,” you said without missing a beat. A gust of wind blew your hair backward over your shoulders. “We packed the rest of our stuff up yesterday, and Yoongi helped the movers put the rest of our furniture into the back of a truck. I think this weekend was the last time I’ll ever be in that house again.”
“I’m sorry, Ror,” she said softly.
You sighed. “Yeah, me too. I told my dad about Wooyoung finally, and brought up Yunho.”
Tori groaned, then her voice got louder, like she picked up the phone to speak directly into it. “Speaking of Yunho,” she started, her tone already uneasy, “We didn’t have a great weekend either.”
“Who didn’t? You and Yunho? You and Mingi? And Yunho?” You scanned the campus in front of you and partially behind you, just in case. “Was there a party?”
“Yeah, they had a party,” she breathed. “Most of us were there, except you and Hongjoong, he went home this weekend too. It was normal for the most part, but I’ve never seen Yunho drink like this before, Ror, it was insanity. Mingi had to almost carry him up the stairs, he could barely stand, he was crying, and once we got him in his room he just popped off, and not in a good way.”
Like her words conjured him up, he turned the corner of the block you walked down. Headphones lived over his ears, his thin frames sat on his nose, and he was dressed nicely. Slacks and a button down with a brown jacket shielding him from the cold. Your heart winced. His eyes were tired. Tori’s story told the truth.
“What happened?” you asked quietly, watching him walk across the street and onto the lush green park that lived in the center of the old architectural circle you wound around.
“We think he had a panic attack or something,” she said, carrying on. “He, like, couldn’t breathe, and he kept saying he wanted you, he needed you, and he cried. He kept crying. I’ve never seen him freak out like that. Mingi and I stayed with him, we all squished together in his bed. And, oh, he got so sick right after we got him to fall asleep. He just kept saying he wanted you, he wants you, he wants you…”
“Yeah, well, I’m looking at him right now, he sure wants me alright,” you said. He scrolled through his phone like mad, eyes pointed, focused.
“He’s drowning in internship decisions. The ones that are asking for him he doesn’t want, and the ones he does want he’s barely making it in.”
Internships. God damn. Add another thing to a long list of shit you didn’t want to worry about but should be worrying about.
“He’s not always purposefully ignoring you, you know how he gets when he hyperfixates, you gotta break him out of it.”
You rolled your eyes. “Is that what he wants me to do?”
The line beeped. Three times. Another call came through.
Furrowing your brows you pulled your phone away expecting to see your fathers name across the top, but it read Unknown Caller instead. Hitting the lock button to silence it, you went back to Tori.
“I don’t know what he wants you to do, we only talk about you when he brings you up, otherwise he shuts down. Mingi can’t even say your name without getting kicked in the shin.”
Focusing forward, your walk slowing down immensely, you stared at the ground. “What’s he been saying?”
Tori hummed. “The latest is you and Wooyoung. He doesn’t believe us when we say you’re broken up.”
“It’s been since July,” you hissed, and she giggled.
“He knows that. He sees you together on campus, it freaks him out.”
You rolled your eyes again. “Well, he should come ask me then if he doesn’t believe it!”
Suddenly, a door to your right swung open, almost wiping you flat on your ass. Stumbling back some, a gasp shooting through you, Kazhua turns out of it and gasps as well. A freshmen recruit.
“Aurora!” she shouted, reaching for you. One of her hands touched your shoulder. “I’m so sorry!”
“It’s okay,” you smiled, bobbing your head, placing your phone back to your ear. She eyed it and frowned.
“I interrupted your phone call,” she lowered her voice and shook her head, “I’m sorry.”
Shrugging your shoulders you adjusted your bag. “It’s just Tori, she’ll live.”
Kaz seemed to blink away surprise that started to manifest on her face. “Oh, just Tori,” she said. “Okay, good, I’m sorry again!” She started in the opposite direction, leaving you with a wave. “I’ll see you at the house later for the tours!”
Waving her off, you stepped off to the side of the building and posted up against it. Waiting for your heart to stop racing, you answered Tori’s question.
“It was Kaz,” you sighed. “She’s sweet.”
“...Yeah, she is.”
“Why’d you hesitate?”
There was another click of a palette. “Nothing, I’m doing my makeup, it’s nothing.”
Tightening your jaw, you said, “Okay, don’t freak me out about these new girls, I already have nightmares about them bullying me.”
Tori laughed after a smack of her lips. “They won’t bully you, Ror. I won’t let them. Have a good class,” she said, shifting around on the other side, moving from her vanity, “I have to get dressed, I’ll talk to you later.”
“Tours are today?” you asked, tapping your toes on the concrete. “Yes,” she said, her voice stern, “You have to be there, tonight at five.”
Scoffing, you fired back, “Where else would I be?”
“Wooyoungs?”
“Damn, I wasn’t expecting an actual answer,” you whispered, feeling your stomach sour.
“I’ll see you tonight.”
She didn’t even wait for you to answer, she hung up before you could even pull the phone from your ear. Tipping your chin back, looking up at the thick clouds breezing by in the grey sky, you take a deep breath and try to mentally prepare yourself for the day. Two classes, easy enough, and then an evening of hosting new members at the ITZ house, your house, the house you were president of.
The tours were easy enough, all the girls wanted was to see the house, top to bottom. Experience it for a night to really figure out if this was where they were meant to be or not. You and Tori knew it the moment you walked through the doors together, ITZ would be your future.
And here you were.
Gazing around at the tree branches dancing in the wind, your eye caught onto Yunho still hanging around the park, now sitting atop the grey stone ledge of a garden. Elbow deep in the bag he had around his back, his eyebrows had plummeted as he searched for something.
Typical, you thought. He always forgot something, whether it be his books, his assignments, or his cell phone. Something got left behind, almost everyday. You went through a period of time sending him a morning text with a reminder of what he needed for the day, and you sent it everyday until he no longer needed it and started to remember on his own.
It’s been a while.
His hands dropped in defeat. Rolling his head backward with a groan you couldn’t hear, you watched as he squeezed his eyes shut and slumped his shoulders. Whatever he was missing, it was important.
Moving to zip up his bag, he stood and swung it over his shoulders, and then, his eyes met yours.
And for two seconds, the world stopped.
The branches stopped dancing, the wind stopped blowing, your heart stopped beating.
And he walked away. In the direction he came from.
He didn’t spare you another glance.
Two seconds was all he gave you.
You waited to move until he disappeared around the corner he spawned from. Pushing off the wall you leaned on, you continued to class, swiping your phone open to hopefully find some distraction through Instagram. Maybe Chan was active, you haven’t talked to him in over a week, you could check in and see how he’s doing, if he ever made the decision to come back to school or not.
A red notification perched on the corner of the phone app sparked your interest.
Tapping on it, the Unknown Caller had left you a voicemail.
Your blood ran cold.
Feet planting into the ground, the bottoms of your sneakers welding with the concrete, you felt as though you moved at halftime as you clicked on the message. Lifting the phone to your ear, mouth going utterly dry, your stomach lurched as she spoke words you never ever wanted to hear her say.
“Aurora, it’s Seori, it’s your mom.”

Elves feat s.mg

⚠️ Warning ⚠️
♪ This post is just pure fiction. This does NOT represent Mingi in any way.
♪ English is not my first language so sorry if there's any mistake.
Note: Hi my shining stars! As it seems that you like Christmas dad!teez as much as I do, here I come with the next one: Mingi! I hope you have fun reading it as much as I had writing it. I love you all, my shining stars!!!
✨ Love and sparkles ✨
Wednesday early in the morning and Mingi is up, using half of his breakfast time to make a giant tower of cushions on his couch because he loves his children very much and one of his duties as their father is to take care of their innocence and illusion in these magical dates.
He will do all the mischief he has to do as if it were the work of those two elves he is deliberately putting on top of that big padded mountain in order to see his kids happy.
Now, with his masterpiece ready and his little swirls still sleeping, he has a bit of time to have breakfast in peace before the house fills with shouts and laughts because Dolce and Nesquik have made a mess in the living room. Yes. Those are the names his kids put the elves. And both Mingi and you can assure that putting the names was a real battle.
Both children had it clear that they wanted their elves to have matching names but meanwhile your daughter wanted to name them Dolce and Gabbana, your son wanted to call them Colacao and Nesquik. Several minutes of screams from one twin to the other about why their idea was better were sufficient for both parents to take one child each one and explain to them why they couldn't name the other's elf. That's how, after making it clear that they should name only their own elf, the twins ended up naming their elves Dolce and Nesquik.
And here he is, enjoying a nice cooking time with his wife while having your breakfast. Mingi is the one in charge of making the kids' lunch for the school and you are the one making their breakfast. You switch every morning who does what, always making sure you both have the chores divided up. If it's hard to get all the chores done with just one child, imagine with two. Besides, doing it together is much more enjoyable and fun. And sometimes, when you two are alone like right now, you can take advantage and fool around a bit with each other.
Although today is not the case because one of you has to wake up those two little swirls that you have for children. Or so you thought until the children's squeaky little voices interrupt you, making both of you get out of the kitchen.
"Have you seen this?!" Says your daughter, curiously moving around that mountain of mattresses while laughing "It's incredible, right?" Mingi says, laughing proudly after seeing how much your children like this mischief "How could they have been able to do this if they are so small? Look at their tiny hands!" This one is your son, both hands on his cheeks while he still looks at that monument with incredulity "They are magical, baby".
But then, your son notices something very important and, quite worried, he runs to his father, holding on to his pants "Daddy, you have to get Nesquik! He can fall off and get hurt!" That innocent reaction from your son makes you two look at each other with tenderness, your baby is such a cute boy.
After a silent agreement with you about which one takes care of it, Mingi gets on one knee to hug his son and give him a few kisses while he combs a little of his hair "I can't, baby. Remember that we can't touch them" The father says but, seeing how your baby is looking with worry at his elf on the top of the cushions, you decide to bend down, also giving him a kiss on his head "I'm sure that Nesquik is going to be okay, honey. He can use magic, remember?".
With that reminder, your son nods slowly "Just be careful, okay Nesquik?" He says, still worried for his elf. Meanwhile, your daughter, who was still playing around that big tower, gets jealous of both her parents not giving her love too as they are doing with her brother so, running to where you are, she collapses against her father's chest demanding with pouting lips all her good morning kisses, which you clearly give her because you love both children equally.
"Hey, and you are not worried about Dolce?" Your son asks his sister while all of you go to the kitchen after a little bit too long kissing session on your part, at which your daughter just shrugs and says "Nah, he looks happy there" and sits on her place where her breakfast is already waiting for her.

SEONGHWA ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚

― doctor dad
• usually his office is flooded with lovely little patients
• so he tries to pick out a less hectic day from his schedule to bring his kid with him to work
• this is because he wants to be able to look after his child well
• and at the same time get them to play and interact with his cute patients
• his kid did say "i want daddy to help me make new fwends"
• "my baby's wish, is my command" he replies
• it wasn't obvious that he was excited to bring his kid to see him work. really, no.
• it wasn't evident even when they came to the clinic with matching lab coats and stethoscopes hanging from their necks.
• his' was the real deal ofc while his child had a cute blue one with stitch on it. (if he spent a lot of money just for that, no one had to know)
• most nurses that passed by them cooed because his child looked exactly like his mini me
• seonghwa smiles so bright, heart swelling, and he holds his kid's hand even tighter, eventually swaying it until they arrive at his office
• before he gets ready for his shift, he makes sure to introduce every single thing inside the room (everything within his child's reach was kid-friendly anyway so he didn't have to worry much)
• "baby look, do you know what these are?"
• "tweddy!" his child would cutely reply, pointing at the yellow teddy bear in his dad's hands
• seonghwa would play with his kid for a while
• they made the stuffed toys their patients, he was the nurse, and his child was the doctor
• "this is a stethoscope" "stescowp!" "that's right, very good!"
• "you put this on your patient's chest, so you can hear their heartbeat." "artbeat?" his child would look up at him, confused
• seonghwa would pinch their cheeks first, unable to resist their cuteness
• then he'll begin explaining, "heartbeat is the sound your heart makes. it goes lub-dub, lub-dub"
• he matches it with comical expressions and wide gestures that it makes his kid laugh
• why are they so adorable? he'd think
• and then it'll be time for him to face his patients
• he leaves his kid at the corner to play with the toys they brought, saying he'll be back
• "promise me you'll behave? no crying?"
• "pwomise, no cwying, daddy" his kid will reply and they'll do a pinky promise
• seonghwa prepares his cute stickers and candies at the side for his patients while he waits
• he only had to do consultations and check-ups for today, he made sure of that
• in between breaks, he plays again with his kid
• and when they got slightly bored playing doctor with the stuffed toys, seonghwa will call on his nurse friend who wasn't on call
• and then he'd go back to his desk, continue charting, while his kid goes to the clinic's cafeteria for snack break
• it was seonghwa's last patient when things started to get a little rocky
• his last patient was a three year old girl who's having a check up for the first time
• she was scared and seonghwa didn't know what to do
• none of his stickers, candy, and coaxing were working successfully and that was a first time for him
• but then his kid stood up from the puzzle mat where they were playing with their toys
• his child picks up the yellow teddy bear that seonghwa gave them earlier
• they'd waddle towards the little girl
• and if it weren't for the current situation, seonghwa would've giggled because his child is adorable
• surprisingly, his kid was able to ease the girl and stop her from crying
• they would talk to the little girl while they both hold the teddy bear's hands
• seonghwa would smile and then he'll immediately check on the girl's heartbeat with his stethoscope while she's still distracted
• distracted by his child's ramblings
• it was such an adorable scene
• when it was time to go home, seonghwa gets startled when his child suddenly runs to his desk
• he watches them as they go over his sticker packs (his child was actually drawn to them since they arrived in his office)
• a particular yellow heart and a blue 'good job' sticker got his kid's attention and then they're running back to seonghwa
• the kid tugs at seonghwa's slacks, asking him to sit and seonghwa ends up crouching in front of his child
• "this one's for daddy" his kid puts the yellow heart on his dad's coat,
• and then comes the good job sticker, "because daddy helped me make a new fwend. i love daddy's job" his child would say
• "can you get me a sticker too?" "yes!"
• his kid will bring back a "great patient!" sticker without even knowing it's meaning
• he picked it because it had stitch's face on it, and stitch was their favorite cartoon character
• seonghwa would chuckle and then place the sticker on his child's coat as well
• "this one is for you because you've been so well behaved today." he'd smile and then ruffle the child's hair
• and then they'd walk out of the clinic, hands swaying, with some occasional happy jumps from his kid
• a few stops were made as well because his child would show off his cute stitch sticker to every person that they would pass by, may it be a patient or a nurse
YUNHO ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚

― actor dad
• the idea actually blossomed after the night he and his child played a game of charades
• at one point, yunho began acting out spongebob
• his child was having fun watching him and his comedic antics that they eventually blurt out
• "i wanna see daddy acting!"
• luckily, yunho's current movie project was a family-oriented one and the director was a friend of his
• as soon as they arrive at the filming site, his child marvels at everything they see
• "daddy, everything's soo big!"
• yunho would chuckle
• at some point, his child gets too excited while yunho's talking to his co-actor
• he was so engrossed in their conversation that he almost forgot he had a child with him (how-)
• it's safe to say that he nearly lost his kid
• but he didn't
• so, all's well
• when yunho's time came for him to shine in front of the camera, his kid got to watch, front row. which was on the director's lap
• yunho knows and is a daily witness to how energetic and playful his child could get so he's actually surprised that his child was just calmly sitting there on someone they just met while seemingly being in awe by every expression yunho makes and every word he says
• in fact, his child has been behaving so well that the director let them speak through the megaphone to yell the word, "cut!"
• but ofc it came out cute and tiny and adowable~
• yunho's kid got every person on the set laughing
• later that day, a coffee truck that was sponsored by one of the casts in the movie came on the site
• the child was playing with yunho's manager and saw it
• "is that food?" the child points at the truck that had people approaching it
• yunho's manager would ask them if they want something to eat or drink but instead, the child says
• "can i get food for daddy?" they ask this with their head slightly tilted to the side
• they both ended up getting food and drinks and yunho's child does the honor of giving the sealed coffee cup to their daddy who was still filming
• as soon as yunho finishes, they carefully walk towards him
• "coffee delivery for daddy!" they'd say cutely, prompting yunho to chuckle
• then they'd share a pastry or two while yunho goes over his next lines
• when yunho gets back in front of the camera, his child would watch him intently
• their small mouth following their daddy's dialogue
• and when yunho finishes all his parts and is done for the day, he'll sit beside his kid, both of them following and mouthing every word the current actor says on screen
• soon after, both of them eventually got bored and yunho's manager finds them getting all playful with the poor confused boy manning the coffee truck
• either bombarding him with questions about coffee or
• ordering a drink after another in a split second
• the manager ended up scolding them both
• but yunho and his child just laughs it off
• before things were wrapped up in the set, yunho planned to take a picture of himself so he could post it on his sns for the fans
• problem was, his child was starting to get all cranky and wouldn't want to leave his side
• so he asked for two pairs of sunglasses from his manager who also asked and got it from yunho's stylist
• when yunho gave the smaller sunglass to his child and said that they would take pictures like james bond, it brings a smile to the child's face
• "one, two, three!" yunho's manager would say while the both of them pose side by side, doing the infamous james bond pose
SAN ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚

― florist dad
• they haven't even left the house yet but san is already cooing and taking pictures of his kid due to their adorable ootd
• he's too attached to his child that even if the child wants to be put down, he still carries them on the way to his newly opened flower shop
• his child loves him as much as he does, so they end up not fighting their dad's urge to carry them every single time
• they both sings songs while san walks, on the way there
• they do so even while san is opening up the shop and the kid sits on a stool, twirling around to see the different flowers around them
• until they eventually got dizzy and san had to attend to them for a second
• when san is finished organizing every nook and cranny of his beloved shop, he grabs two aprons from the stock room
• he puts the apron on but doesn't tie it yet, then he walks to his overly curious child, smiling
• he makes them lower their head and puts the cute little apron on them, trying his best to make a pretty ribbon while humming
• "can you tie my apron for me, angel?" he'd say after
• when the child nods their head, he doesn't waste any second and instantly turns
• while his child is tying his apron for him, he's smiling, dimples full on display while he clutches his chest, heart soaring
• san just adores his kid so much, okay?
• everything his child does make his heart do somersaults
• since it's still a newly opened shop, after san flips the closed sign into open, it was still quiet and empty
• and what does san do to fill the silence? he makes silly dance moves while he hums which makes his kid laugh heartily
• later on he starts actually singing, making up a song with flower names in the lyrics
• they do that for a moment until it started to get quite tiresome
• so he picks up his child and transfers the stool in front of the register, closer to him when he actually starts to attend to customers later
• san teaches his kid about each button and what they're for but the candy jar filled with flower shaped candies at the corner of the counter was what grabbed the child's attention more
• and yes, san put it there because of his own kid, and not because he has a sweet tooth. nope.
• when a customer does arrive and asks for assistance, san leaves his kid with the jar telling them not to finish it all up in one sitting
• "...or you'll have a sugar rush. are we clear, angel?" the kid nods at him. "very good. daddy will be back"
• he smiles at them and gives them a small pat on top of their cute little head
• soon after, san's got customer after another
• one particular elder lady was holding him up quite longer than the previous ones
• and san didn't really mind at all since he loves helping and being of service to others
• he didn't mind explaining each type of flower, their meaning, and what occasions they're great for, to the lady
• but from his peripheral vision, he could see that his angel was already pouting from their seat by the counter
• candy jar, untouched
• he knows, san knows, that his baby is already bored out of their minds
• most probably in need of something else to stimulate them and keep their cute lil head occupied
• the lady certainly notices the hesitation dancing in san's irises, even his fidgety hands
• "is that your child over there, young man?" she asks
• san rubs his nape, awkwardly, and says yes
• "they look like they're bored to the core" she points out
• "a-ah yes, i thought the colorful candies would keep them entertained for a bit"
• "clearly not" the lady scoffs, catching san off guard
• he wasn't sure what to make out of the lady's statement until...
• "why not bring them over here? let them explain whichever flower to me and maybe i'll be able to finally make up my mind" she says
• hearing that, san does everything to not squeal a yes in front of her and embarrass himself
• "i'll be right back" he says in a hurry, hurrying to save his child from the arms of boredom
• "well, hi there, little one. you're awfully adorable aren't you?"
• the child was a bit shy at first, but when san tells them it's okay, they start going out of their shell
• fondness danced in san's eyes as he watched his child cutely explain everything to the elder lady
• the elder lady who actually seemed to have an affinity for kids
• and then, san notices
• he only notices that his child has also gotten his long time habit of pouting while talking
• all his life, he's been called cute, adorable, and other compliments there are that matches his nickname, 'sannie'
• but now, he doesn't think there will be anyone else who'll ever compare to the cuteness of his precious angel.

I needed these fluffy spoofs to cleanse my soul 😂 I’m absolutely obsessed with your take on Dad Teez! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
♡ ATEEZ as dads ♡

author: bvidzsoo
pairing: ot8 x reader
tw: none
word count: 3.3k
genre: established relationships, parents, blurbs/scenarios
rating: sfw
summary: have you ever tried envisioning Ateez as fathers? well, this is my take on the subject ^^ a collective of short and cute drabbles bellow the cut
a/n: hello, my lovelies, this was a cute little request and despite not taking requests (just wanted to clear that up), today is my birthday and I decided to make this my little gift for you all! ^^ also, anonie, I hope this is satisfying and close to how you imagined it to be! divider

🐿️Hongjoong

☆ Okay, so, despite all the boomer vibes I get from Hongjoong he'd still be the coolest dad, like?! All of your kid's friends would love him because he's just the type of father that not only shows up for his child but also like partakes in like absolutely everything?! Oh, you have an event at school where you have to bring one parent? Yup, Hongjoong is going (dressed to the nines, might I add, while also wearing something matching with his kid) and he's also going to be cheering you on loudly from the sidelines (to the point the other parents will be side-eyeing him, but that's fine, he doesn't care). And like, he's also the type of dad to sneak inside his kid's room when it's completely dark and then scare the living shit out of them as he starts making monster-like sounds, the kid is terrified okay, but soon they are giggling and wrestling, and the child will go to sleep rather fast because Hongjoong managed to wear them out. But Hongjoong is also the type of father who wants to capture everything so he always has his camera with him and he takes a lot of pictures, okay, and he also makes albums at the end of each year because his kid is growing and he doesn't want to miss even a second (are you sobbing? I would be if I had a dad like him).
☆ And Hongjoong is also the type of father to plan trips mostly in nature, where you can go on a hike and just forget about the ruckus in the city, where you can connect with nature and just be in the moment. He would definitely pick a colour scheme or one clothing item that would be matching for all the family members because it's cute and because he's infinitely proud and eager to show off his kid(s) and wife. He cracks jokes (even if they are your typical dad jokes), and he makes sure his kid(s) feel seen and heard. He tries not to pressure them and lets them explore the world while remaining a guide they can always rely on.

🐰Seonghwa

♡ Yup, trust this man to get up before his wife and child to make them breakfast and something to pack for later when they get hungry, he's that type of guy, yeah. We know he's soft-spoken, and I see him as the type of dad who is very patient with his kid(s) and who pays a lot of attention to them to make sure he truly understands them. I feel like Seonghwa would organize "chill nights" where you all cosy up on the couch and pick a movie (which is age-appropriate, obviously) and he lets you eat excessive popcorn because he knows his wife isn't keen on their kid(s) eating junk food.
♡ Also, I get the feeling that holidays would be big at the Park residence. Like, he'd make sure everything is perfect because he'd be also organizing big ass get-togethers where both sides of the family are coming over for lunch or dinner. And I think he'd also love Christmas because he could spoil his family without getting complaints or reprimands, so yeah, he'd make a big deal out of it each.time. He'd help cook and bake and clean, he'd probably do more of that, and he'd disappear for hours because he was looking for the perfect gifts (and trust that each person will get at least three items if not more). I also think Seonghwa would check on his kid(s) anytime he wakes up in the middle of the night, and he'd certainly tuck them in each time, pressing a kiss to their forehead(s). He'd be very gentle and soft and the kid(s) would grow up in a safe space where they'd know they can freely speak and express their likes and dislikes because their parents will be supportive no matter what.

🐶Yunho

❀ This man is a giant, we know that too well, so honestly, piggybacks and him letting his kid(s) sit on his shoulders while they are out and about would be routine at this point. Like, even if his kid wouldn't ask to be carried, Yunho would be sweeping them off their feet and letting them do whatever as he carried them around. I feel like he'd also quite often get cute aggression, so he'd definitely be tackling them (in a gentle and non-endangering way) to press a dozen kisses against their cheeks, and I think he'd also love tickling them because of their cute laughter! (I'm struggling rn, who's getting cute aggression now??) Anyways, I have a feeling that if his kid(s) somehow manages to hurt themselves (like they fall and scrape their knees or hands) Yunho would rush to their side and hold them and sweet talk to them with a pout on his lips and sad eyes, trying to lighten their mood while he tells them that everything will be okay.
❀ I feel like Yunho is the type to get emotional over, perhaps, non-trivial things that concern his kids. Their tooth fell out and the Toothfairy is coming? Yup, a tear is rolling down his cheek because "Omg, the kid is getting bigger!", also you know that thing where they make you stand against the wall (or edge of the door) to measure your height while you're still growing? Yeah, I feel like Yunho would have to take a walk around the house after measuring his kid's height in order to will the tears away because the kid is two centimetres taller than he was a month ago and he “can't do this, why are they growing so quickly?!” Yunho is definitely the type of father who wakes up his kid(s) in the morning by brushing their hair aside and whispering to them softly, coaxing them out of their sleep. He'd also be always smiling, his kid(s) wouldn't know what Yunho's serious face looks like because he'd never looked at them like that. He'd be cracking jokes and making his kid(s) laugh, but he'd also listen to them if they came to him for advice, and I feel like he's great at reading people's moods, so he'd know when to offer them space or annoy them until the kid(s) get fed up with him and give in to him wanting to kick a ball or something.

🦄Yeosang

🜲 Well, let's be honest, with a dad like Yeosang, I feel like the kid(s) would be considered a little peculiar? But like in a very positive sense of the word because have you seen Yeosang's humour? Immaculate, dare I say, and his kid(s) have definitely inherited that from their dad. I feel like Yeosang is generally a calm and quiet person, but when it comes to his kid(s) he gets like hyper because he wants to do everything they ask him to, and he'll talk and talk until his kid(s) are pressing their tiny hands against his mouth to make him shut up. I think Yeosang would love to listen to his kid(s) stories, like "Yes, tell me all about your mate from kindergarten and his rescued grasshopper and also, what do you mean you ate a spider, child?! Spiders are not for eating!!" Yeah, I feel like Yeosang would forget his kid(s) at daycare at least once or twice (only at the beginning, I promise, like my dad forgot me there once: TMI). So what I was saying is, that because Yeosang loves hearing his kid(s)' stories, he will be reacting with grand gestures and everything and it will only amuse his child, because they'd get even more excited to tell him more about his day.
🜲 Also, I feel like while his kid is a baby and can't speak, he'd blabber back to them and constantly poke their tummy "Because babies are so cute, I think I'm going to combust", and he'd definitely rush up to his wife with the baby in his arms to show off that they have reached new levels of communication, and it'd surprise his wife because the two are now blabbering to each other and the baby is laughing and Yeosang is grinning so wide his cheeks are hurting. I think Yeosang would love to take the baby out on walks as the sun is setting (assuming they are in Seoul) and watch the sunset as the sun disappears behind the Han River, and he'd definitely snap pictures with the baby where his face isn't fully showing just so that he can post it, and then he'd take selfies and send them to the family's group chat. I think Yeosang would be the type of father who never shuts up about their kid (even to his own parents) and tries to be the best father, super supportive and, not going to lie, he'd probably spoil them too because he wants to give them everything they want and need. He'd be always there for them, even if just from the sidelines, and if there were a contest for proudest father of the year, Yeosang would surely win it!

🐱San

❀ The most important question here is, who's the baby? Okay, I'm joking but San would definitely sleep facing the baby, eyes watery because he still cannot believe that's his child and that child is going to grow up by his side and he's created a tiny life that will turn into a grown person one day and he cannot stop it just go with the flow. So yes, San would be the emotional type of father, but not to the extent that it becomes uncomfortable lol. He has strong principals/morals so he'll definitely teach his child the views he has of the world and life itself, but he'd make sure to leave space for his kid(s)' own opinions and views, so that they can create their own believes while taking an example out of their father. We all know San's background, so I think he'd definitely sign up his kid(s) to Taekwondo or another similar sport, mostly because he wants them to know how to defend themselves, but also because it teaches them discipline.
❀ San's kid(s)' will be the politest and most well-behaved you'll ever see, I think they'd rarely cry and stick close to their parents because they know they are safe and comforting. San would have a close and good bond with his kid(s), he'd take them places and let them explore the world. Given that San loves amusement parks so much, I'm sure he'd make it a weekly program to take them there, trying out rides that were appropriate for their ages, laughing all day and eating whatever their tummies (and hearts) desired. I think San would only give his kid(s)' the best, so yes, they'll go to the best school, they'll only wear the best clothes, and they'll only eat healthy food (with exceptions, ofc, he's no tyrant to deny a good hamburger and fries), but he wouldn't spoil his kid(s) to the point they become brats. Also, I feel like San would love it if his children would be on good terms with his best friend's kids, so yup, expect a lot of get-togethers and trips with the two/three (or eight lmao) families, which would be a hustle to every outsider lol. So, all in all, San would be strict but so very loving, he'd do his best to raise his kids well-mannered and humble (just like him bfr) and he'd make sure that he was a strong pillar they could always lean on and count on. (why am I getting emotional too...?)

🐣Mingi

🜲 *sigh*, where do I begin??? Bickering, lots of it, because "What do you mean you don't like mashed potatoes but you'll eat french fries?!!! They are the same, child, just eat it and stop whining!!" oh, and also, "What do you mean you want to go party, it's 11 pm and you're only seventeen?!" (if you've seen 10 Things I Hate About You, just picture the girls' dad when he makes Bianca wear that pregnancy vest before going out LMAO). So, yes, lots of nagging too, I guess, but it's actually well-intended and oh so loving!! Everyone thinks Mingi is intimidating (bfr besties) and I think his kid(s)' friends would be intimidated at first sight, but then Mingi invites them inside and goes to the kitchen to fetch them some snacks, and he accidentally knocks into the chair or table and he swears loudly and the kids start giggling because swearing is an adult thing still and it's funny, and then Mingi appears in the doorway and he's scowling, but he flushes when he realizes the kids heard him, so he tries to play it off but really, he looks like a clown so his child's friends instantly take a liking to him!
🜲 You can't contradict me on this, but I feel like if his kid started crying over something, Mingi would stare at them blankly before starting to (fake) cry too and this often leads to 2 outcomes: 1. the kid stops crying and looks at him like Mingi's crazy (judgingly) & 2. the kid starts crying harder because they know Mingi is making fun of them, and it makes Mingi panic, so now he's cradling them to his chest and trying to shush them and calm them down, because "If the wife hears, we're both dead kid, got it???" I think Mingi would be his kid's best friend before being their father, if you get what I mean? Like, sure, he'll scold them and put them in their place if needed, but he'll totally gossip with them and bring them a sandwich just so he can lounge around in their room (because Mingi won't admit it, but the kid is getting bigger and he feels like he's running out of time and that's terrifying), and he'll tell them things that perhaps should've been better if he kept it to himself. I think he'd always be in front of his kid(s)' school (no matter the age) after classes to pick them up, and he'd definitely do carpool karaoke on their way home, only running one red light (excuse the man, he's excited or something). So yeah, Mingi would be caring and careful with his kid(s), attentive and there for them, but he'd show them that just because he's their father it doesn't mean they aren't equal (most of the time), and they don't have to hide anything from him, really. (Just maybe the fact that they didn't come home last night at the agreed-upon hour, oops~)

🦊Wooyoung

♡ Loud, both of them, loud. But it's fine, because if they are loud at least the wife knows they are enjoying themselves. Because when it becomes quiet, that's when you just know they are up to no good. Like that one time when you were working from home and their giggling and screeching stopped, prompting you to check up on them, only to find your kid(s)' hair drenched in some neon-pink colour which is, ofc, washable, your makeup strewn all over the floor because Wooyoung was feeling funny and decided to paint their faces (it looked terrible, but you said nothing). Also, menaces, both of them, to the point they'd wear matching Halloween costumes and freak out the whole street as they'd randomly start chasing both children and adults (they are either dressed as Chucky or Ghostface, there's no in-between). All of that put together, however, Wooyoung would be always by his kid(s)' side if he could, and he'd be teaching them everything about the world. He'd read to them a lot and he'd watch a lot of History and National Geography with them lol.
♡ And yes, we know Wooyoung is a very affectionate person and that he likes to show his love physically, so there would be a lot of kisses, cuddles, hugs and tickles. Wooyoung would love to carry his kid(s) in his arms while they were still that age, holding their small heads against his chest, pointing out things to them as he explained everything the baby was curious about. I feel like Wooyoung would also take the family to the seaside a lot, he'd love to go inside the sea and play around by splashing each other, accidentally getting swept up by a wave, making his kid(s) laugh as their father struggled to find his footing again. And I'm pretty sure Wooyoung would constantly feed his kid(s) while they were eating, putting more and more food in their plate despite it being almost full already, and no matter what age, Wooyoung will coo at his kid(s) because they will always be his babies! (*cue the sobbing*) And I am sure Wooyoung would be his kid(s) safe haven, someone whose arms are always wide open and ready to comfort or just to hold them, remind them that he's always there for them. Wooyoung would be the type of father to encourage his kids, always, teaching them that the world's opinion about them never mattered and never will, that they should always chase their own dreams and live a happy and fulfilled life. And, similar to Hongjoong, his camera's SD card would be filled with so many memories, ah…

🐻Jongho

☆ A complete jokester, sneaky and the type of father to first laugh when their kid falls before going over to pick them up. I feel like the kid wouldn't be able to tell if their father is their worst enemy or best friend at first, because Jongho isn't afraid to scrutinize them and judge them down to the bone, but the next second the man is sticking his tongue out and cracking a joke, and the child is confused because why can't their father just pick one mood for five minutes at least? I think Jongho would love to antagonize his children with dad jokes, he's aware they are terrible but seeing the look on his children's faces is always worth it. Imagine Jongho trolling his kids any chance he gets, as an excuse for preparing them for life (we all know he just likes playing with them), and he'd be tapping their shoulders and hiding behind a tree or something, and he'd run after them down the dark hallway, making scary noises, and he'd randomly open their doors and just stand there with a blank face until his kid(s) are either scared or screaming at him to get out.
☆ I don't know why, but, I have to mention cooking. I'm pretty sure he'd gather up the family at least thrice a week, and their evening would consist of picking a recipe and making it together while some sports plays on the TV and the parents are sipping on wine while the children can have orange juice or maybe chocolate milk. I also think he'd often buy his kid(s) flowers, no matter the gender because everyone deserves flowers, and he'd probably buy them chocolate too because (guess what?) he secretly eats them and blames it on his wife so the children don't pester him about the missing chocolate lol. I feel like Jongho would raise his kids to be smart and logical, always finding solutions and not fearing the unknown (I mean, if your father chases you down a dark corridor, who fears ghosts anymore, no??) and because he's a little sneaky shit, of course, his children will end up like him too ("it's okay to cheat when playing board games", would say Jongho but also whine for an hour if he found out one of the family member's did cheat, acting as if he didn't also). Jongho would be their best pall but also their role model, he'd raise his children to be outstanding and determined, unafraid to go after what they want. I know he'd support their hobbies and always encourage them to try out new things. He'd love quiet evenings where he can hear his kid(s) in their room(s) giggling and laughing about whatever, calling him to keep them company before it's time for bed. <3

"I'm home!" Kim Hongjoong called out as he shut the front door behind him.
He listened and heard the pitter pat of feet coming down the hallway, the screams of 'Daddy!' making his heart smile, hearing his kids come running and flinging themselves at him, trying to give him a hug at the same time. They were trying to talk, one voice blending in with the next, only catching fragments of what they were actually saying, so excited to see him they could hardly contain it.
"Where's Daddy's kisses?" He asked as they chattered about their day.
Loud smacking kisses pressed against his cheek before he stood and put the pair down on their feet, giving them each a smile. "Where's mommy?" He asked when he didn't see his wife in the hall.
"Kitchen,” they said in unison, smiling up at their daddy, holding his hands and leading him through the house with his son to his left and his daughter to his right, matching excited grins on their faces. "Mommy! Daddy is home!"
Hongjoong let out a small laugh as he watched you stir the pot of stew, bouncing lightly on your feet with the baby strapped to your front, nestled there with his head on your breast. His arms reached and tightened around you, a soft laugh escaping your lips when you felt him against your back.
You pulled his left hand over to kiss it, a smile pulling at your lips. "Welcome home, Daddy."
Hongjoong grinned and kissed your shoulder, turning you to face him. He cupped your cheek, kissing you softly as his children groaned in disgust and ran off to play. Leaning his forehead against yours, he smiled and asked, "How were the kids today?"
"Good as always. Well, Hyejin almost choked on an apple, so that was a little scary for me. She's fine," you lifted your hand to cup his cheek with a smile, returning his forehead with a kiss.
"My angel," he kissed your nose, making you chuckle before he leaned into the baby. "Hey there, big boy. How are you?"
Hyunwoo turned his head, blinking at his father, taking him in, and when recognition donned him, his face lit up, his hand reaching out for his father, cooing excitedly.
Hongjoong took him from his sling with a grin and brought him close to him, kissing his little chubby cheeks and chin with loud smacking sounds. "I'll take the baby while you finish dinner. Did you need help with anything else?"
"No, just get the table set and that'll be all good," you hummed. "Can you make sure the kids wash their hands before they sit at the table?"
"Yes, love. You can count on me," he gave a mock salute and turned with the baby in his arms to carry him out, watching the kids run through the halls in their socks, screaming and laughing.
He almost tripped a few times while navigating his way with a child in his arms, but Hongjoong had gotten very adept in having children run under his feet. He had lost track of how many times he almost trampled one of them or how many stubbed toes he had because they were doing somersaults in the living room. He remembered being a miserable single dad when his ex-wife suddenly up and left. He lacked a support system, and the abrupt shift from married life to single parenthood, with a toddler and a baby to care for, was incredibly challenging. He struggled to make ends meet while trying to stay strong for his children, who were now without their mother.
When Jongho's wife recommended you for the nanny job, he thought nothing of it, but you were so good with the kids, they attached themselves to you faster than you could've known. Hongjoong fell for you long before you'd even noticed, his children chattering on and on about you being their 'mommy' now and it took everything in him not to blurt it out, hoping that the affection they gave was a reflection of his own.
Now, four years later, you had his ring on your finger, another baby to join the family, and two healthy older siblings running underfoot. His ex-wife wasn't coming back, and he hadn't thought once about her since she walked out the door with the clothes on her back and left her life behind like she meant nothing to any of them. It broke his heart the first year, the thought of her leaving for months, no explanation, no return calls or letters, and now, he had long since buried his sorrow to focus on the family he had instead of the family he didn't.
He thanked Jongho's wife every chance he got because without her, he wouldn't have gotten you into his life, and now, he never wanted to let you go, no matter what.
After he watched Hyejin and Hongki scurry off to wash their hands and he deposited his newest baby into his high chair, making sure he wouldn't get out, he returned to your side. "Food's done?"
"Yes," you handed him the plates and cutlery, letting him lead the way back into the dining room.
Once everyone had sat down, food was distributed, and napkins were spread over laps, dinner began with chatter amongst all of them, as usual, talking over each other so fast that nobody was really keeping up with the conversation. Hyunwoo babbled between them as he gnawed away on the piece of bread you had given him.
"Oh, did Jongho tell you that he and his wife want to take the kids for a sleepover?" You spoke up while wiping the bit of juice that trickled down the baby's chin. "I think Jooeun and Joomi wanted a weekend with their friends."
"Are the other kids going?" Hongjoong asked, the 'others' referring to the kids of their friends.
"Yeosang already said that Yeonwoo is going. Yunho said that he's going to drop Yunhee off when he gets off work and I think San mentioned that Haru has been begging him to go," you checked the kids in front of you. "Does that sound good? Sleepover weekend with your friends? A big sleepover party at Uncle Jongho's house?"
"Sleepover?! At Jooeun's and Joomi's house?!" Their excited voices blended into one another.
You giggled. "Yeah and I think Yeonwoo, Haru and Yunhee are going to be there too."
They screamed in their chairs, all manners of speaking gone while they shrieked.
"Yeah?" You watched as they nodded their heads up and down. "What does Daddy say? Is that a good idea?"
"Daddy thinks it’s a great idea," Hongjoong turned his eyes from the kids to you, a wide grin on his face as you smiled. "That gives Mommy and Daddy a night to themselves too."
"We still have the baby," you turned your gaze to Hyunwoo who looked quite happy to have his piece of bread to gnaw on, sucking it a little for moisture. "You think Wooyoung would take him for the night?"
"It's Wooyoung," Hongjoong laughed. "The man will never say no to a baby. I'm sure he, Seonghwa, and Mingi, single and childless as they are, will be ecstatic to watch the baby."
Watching a gummy smile crawl across Hyunwoo's round little face and turn his attention to him. "He's just a precious thing. So cute, just like his Daddy and his big brother and sister."
His hand crept along the table and covered yours with a smile. His thumb ran circles over the wedding ring on your finger that matched his. "Couldn't be as cute as you, baby."
He heard his daughter groaning and knew her manners came out at the worst of times because all she had to say was, "Oh my God. Daddy, can you not do that at the table?"
"Don't blame me. Daddy loves Mommy." Hongjoong laughed.
"We all love mommy too!" Your son was quick to respond. "But don't make that yucky stuff at the table! Mommy always says to have our gross stuff done somewhere that’s not at the table!"
Your laughter rose up amongst the chatter, leaning over to peck his cheek. "Well, the table is now going to be strictly gross free. Daddy, let's keep our grossness elsewhere and not bother the kids."
He leaned down to kiss the crown of Hyunwoo's head, placing a kiss on the crowns of the eldest children's heads. "Agreed, gross free table."
"I can't remember the last time we did this," Hongjoong spoke from his spot on the couch, leaning back into the comfortable cushion with his arm over your shoulders while the credits to some movie played on the tv. An hour ago, Jongho had just picked up the older kids for the sleepover and an ecstatic Wooyoung came to grab the baby. Now, you were home alone and could do as you pleased.
You hummed, sliding down the couch more until your head was pillowed on his lap.
"I think it's been forever, sweetheart," his fingers played with the flyaways of your hair with a smile pulling at his lips.
You groaned and rolled onto your side, pulling his hand with you so it was draped over your side and laying half across your stomach. "Since before the baby?"
You recalled all the moments where Hongjoong wanted to pull you close and show you his love, but with the baby attached to you or in a different room, he found it hard to have those intimate moments. Even sex wasn't an option, at least, not regularly like it was before the baby. The moments you were alone to do so were too few and far between.
"Unfortunately, the most action we've had lately was a little bit of dry humping," a breathy laugh passed his lips. "God, it sounds so juvenile saying that. We're a married couple, yet, the most action lately was rubbing ourselves against each other in the middle of the night."
A light giggle escaped your throat and your head shifted on his lap, turning a soft grin towards him, meeting his eyes. "Hon, please, with these kids running wild around the house, sex is the least of our worries. If we can catch a few minutes of intimacy without someone coming up the stairs and bursting in on us, I'll count myself blessed."
A smile pulled at his lips and he took your left hand, holding it up so he could look at your rings. "I don't regret it, baby. None of this. Growing this family, starting a life with you. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you for coming into my life, for loving Hongki and Hyejin like they were your own kids and giving birth to our little Hyunwoo. We're only going to grow from here. Who knows? Maybe we'll expand again."
"And have more kids like Jongho and his wife?" Your lips curled into a smile, making Hongjoong laugh and shake his head. "Yeah, let's keep it to three kids and that'll be enough."
"Darn it, guess my evil plans are foiled. I was hoping that our baby-making would multiply and I'd have five or six. Can you imagine? A house of seven? It'll be the end of us," Hongjoong laughed with you and brushed his fingers through your hair with a hum and leaned back more on the couch.
"Don't know how Jongho and his wife could do it," you mused. "A set of twin girls, a set of twin boys and another baby on the way?" You shook your head in amusement and curled more into your husband's leg. "Who knew our youngest friend would have the most kids out of us all?"
"With the biggest house and the most bedrooms," he added.
"Biggest yard and the largest living space,” you continued.
Hongjoong and you continued rattling things off with a shared grin until your gazes met and your eyes squinted into small smiles. Your right hand reached up and stroked his cheek. His eyes crinkled in response and his forehead lowered down to touch yours, chuckling low under his breath. "My pretty wife."
Your hand gripped the nape of his neck, holding him close as a soft exhale passed your lips and your eyes slipped closed. "My handsome husband."
Slow, soft, gentle lips touched yours and Hongjoong cradled you in his arms, humming into the kiss with a happy smile. Time escaped you as you melted under your husband's ministrations, a simple and chaste exchange. The whole house was quiet, not a single kid around to stop you, or yell from somewhere else in the house, or suddenly need you and throw you back into the realm of parenting. Right now, it was just you and him. Nothing more, nothing less. Just his arms, his lips on yours, his hands stroking through your hair and feeling his love surround you like the warmest blanket.
His teeth gently teased your lower lip and he pulled back to hover over your face with a breathless chuckle, his hands now trailing down your face to hold your hands in his. His thumbs gently rubbed circles into your skin, making shivers run up your spine and down your back with a silent exhale.
"I'm not gonna lie. It feels kinda nice not having the kids around for a whole night. Makes it much more relaxing. I don't have to run after kids every second," his chuckle met your ears and a breathy laugh of your own fell into the air around you two.
"Yeah," your arms curled around his middle, trying to pull him close and bring his lips back to yours.
He laughed quietly again, tilting his head with a smile and cupped your cheeks in his hands. "The kids are gone tonight, my love. What should we do? All alone without kids?"
"Cuddles. Kisses. Movie?" The smile was unmistakable and your heart filled with pure love for your husband, melting with every second his eyes remained on yours. "A reward for being the best wife and mother to your children?"
"A reward, huh?" His laugh tickled your ears and his lips pressed another soft kiss on your forehead, gently nudging you from his lap and rising from the couch. "Anything for the most beautiful mother and best wife I've ever had. Now, come on, Mommy, let Daddy show you how much you deserve a break."
You giggled at his cheeky antics and caught his extended hand as he picked you up and carried you all the way to the bedroom. His kisses didn't stop until he dropped you onto the bed, bouncing with a happy smile up at him, the moment a blur as he crawled over top of you.
You brought him down for another kiss with a chuckle. 'What are you planning to do?"
"Giving my wife a reward," his lips grazed your chin and began peppering the side of your neck and making his way down as he spoke. "One she well and truly deserves for everything she's done."
"By doing what?" your eyes followed his head down as he buried himself into your collarbones and the exposed part of your chest. Your shirt had ridden down, bunched in his grasp as he snaked his hands underneath to touch your skin. His cold hands warmed up within seconds.
"Giving Mommy a night where all her needs are met," Hongjoong tilted his gaze towards you, a flirtatious wink greeting you and his eyes growing half-lidded. "A night where her pleasure is met, a night where I am completely and totally wrapped around her little finger. She's so lovely and wonderful to all the kids, my wonderful children's mother."
He kept your hands pinned above your head, bringing your attention back to him and kissing your lips once again. "Tonight, everything is Mommy's decision. If she wants kisses, if she wants love, if she wants affection. Anything, Mommy gets what she wants," his tone was gentle, lips speaking low as his breath warmed your face. "Can I do that, sweetheart? Make Mommy feel good and loved?"
You blushed, nodding a small little motion and lifted your head to meet his next kiss. "Yes, of course. I'd love anything you'd give me."
Hongjoong's answering kiss brought tingles of happiness through every cell of your body.
It felt good, and nothing would tear your husband's hands or kisses off you as he slowly peeled away your clothing piece by piece. Each kiss followed and a small burn of warmth swarmed your skin, causing goosebumps to rise, and it was addicting, being bathed in this type of attention from Hongjoong, his eyes only on you and making sure you received his entire focus. Every part of his body was doing what made your body happy and made you shiver.
Kisses littered the inner flesh of your thighs and the peaks of your breasts, Hongjoong's gentle smile and caresses stroking through your hair or on your legs made your head turn with love. Your stomach felt jittery with every kiss and the coil in your core only tightened with every passing minute.
"Breathe, sweet girl. It's all okay. There's no hurry," Hongjoong's voice was soft and tender, urging you to slow your racing heart and taking a breath when a gasp left your throat.
You blinked and looked over his smiling face with a soft smile pulling at your own features. "I love you, Joong."
"I love you too, baby," a warm grin stretched his lips.
His fingers brushed over your opening, feeling a sudden need to slide in and watch as you broke around him. His fingers sank into your welcoming body, slipping in and out with ease. His movements were slow and sensual, loving the way your eyes rolled back, your head flopped, and your lips parted into a silent gasp. He spread his fingers, making you tense and releasing a short moan from your chest and the desperate way you begged him, asking for more as your hands tightly clenched the sheets.
He smirked. It was definitely a beautiful sight, one that always sent his blood roaring in his veins. "Tell me what you want. Say the words and I'm more than happy to comply."
Your breaths came in shaky gasps and you weakly mumbled, "M-more. J-just... k-keep going, p-please."
He chuckled softly, placing one last kiss on your knee and moved down, placing himself in between your legs. You immediately looked at him through half-lidded eyes and cried softly when his thumb rubbed hard and firm against your clit, only adding a flash of fire in your belly, spreading into your legs and chest.
"D-don't, J-Joong. I-I-" you cried out softly, bringing your fingers down into his hair, tugging on the strands in desperation. "Pl-please!"
"Mhm. That's what I want to hear, baby," he leaned over you, your gasps fanning across his chin as he dipped his head down and gave you a quick kiss. "Such a pretty sound, only for Daddy's ears, yes?"
You whimpered in answer, his tongue trailing along the inside of your thigh, kissing and nibbling, leaving a burning sensation in its wake.
"You can be as loud as you want, love," the edges of his smile rose up, knowing the soft sounds that echoed around the empty house of yours. "It's just us. It's alright."
You sucked in a deep breath and your eyelids closed as his lips met your folds. It was almost as if he didn't want to waste a second before tasting the warm slick your pussy offered him. Your eyes shot open, back arching as his lips, tongue and finger went straight to work.
His mouth latched around your clit while his fingers worked, rubbing you inside while you lost the ability to speak, all that could come out were soft and weak moans while your legs trembled. Hongjoong's lips tightened against your clit, making your thighs clamp down around him in an attempt to slow down or make him stop.
"Joong..." you moaned softly, closing your eyes, feeling a wave of ecstasy washing over your mind and you had to swallow or choke on your spit. Your throat felt dry, as you threw your head back when Hongjoong started sucking harder and wiggling his finger.
It felt way too good, his lips, his fingers and the vibrations from his own soft groans that made your knees clench around his ears as your chest arched. His tongue ran laps against you and pushed your thighs to shake around him. The warmth in your stomach had built up from the attention on your core, sending jolts of fire through you. He felt too amazing and you couldn't fight back. He was going to get a reaction whether you liked it or not.
Your fingers gripped his hair, pulling him down and begging to ride his face until the ache in your lower half subsided. Your body shook and your pussy pulsed, gushing your sweet juices around Hongjoong's working hands.
He purred when your legs finally settled down from the tremors running up and down your legs. It had been long since you've last experienced release, let alone from the skill of your husband's talented mouth and talented fingers. His hands were resting against your inner thighs, his eyes gazing down at the beautiful way you quivered and rode through the throes of pleasure he managed to give you. He licked his lips clean of the sticky and sweet wetness, chuckling softly.
"Did it feel nice, my love?" his hands ran gently up and down your quivering thighs, laughing in amusement at the way you could not catch a breath from the sudden orgasm he induced. He pressed a kiss to the corner of your hip, murmuring, "Gods, it's so fun watching you like this. How much I can't wait to see what other expressions you'll be making as the night goes on."
"I need you Joong," you gasped out, tugging his shirt as your thighs clamped against him. "Please, I need to feel you inside. Please."
"Hold on, baby," he muttered, leaving the bed briefly to rummage through the nightstand next to his side of the bed. Once he found the box of condoms, he set it on the table and settled between your trembling knees. "We did say we're stopping at three babies, right?"
A watery laugh escaped your chest, lifting a weak hand to cup his face. "Joong, just hurry!"
Hongjoong shook his head and grinned in amusement. "Patience is a virtue."
"If you don't put it in soon I'm kicking you off this bed,” you frowned.
"Hmm, Mommy is demanding," Hongjoong played back. He kicked off his sweats, rolling the condom over his hard member before settling in the gap between your legs. His lips were on yours once again as he rolled his hips against yours, gliding himself against you.
You tugged him forward, eager and hungry, breathing his name against his lips in between kisses, hoping for him to slip inside, thrusting hard and fast so your world was filled with nothing but him and your desires. You lifted your leg up and curled it against the back of his thigh, clinging tight and grinding into him.
Hongjoong wasted little time before he slid himself easily and steadily into your sex, gasping into your lips at the velvety heat and groaning into your shoulder when his balls pushed flush against your ass. He felt so thick and full inside you and yet his thrusts were gentle and steady, his hands cradled under your ass to give better leverage and his lips capturing yours each time you broke away for a breath or to moan loudly.
He picked up the speed and the force behind the rhythm, smirking against your skin at how your hands cupped his cheeks and the whimpers escaping your lips each time his dick reached so deep inside of you that you were sure your organs were being rearranged.
"H-Hongjoong," you panted, your head dazed with a pleasurable haze as his thrusts had now quickened and was shoving you up the bed a little each time his hips slapped yours and you both moved as one. The coil in your stomach wound tighter, feeling every inch of his member spearing into your flesh and sending yourself into a head spin of pleasure.
"Look at you baby," the warmth from Hongjoong's voice drew your attention, a smile plastered on his lips as you melted around him, a silent cry in your lips as your fingers tangled in the sheets. "Feeling so good, yeah?"
"Ah, so g-good," you answered breathlessly, feeling a light buzz in your ear from how dizzy you felt with his shaft buried to the hilt inside of your pussy, your muscles tightening around him each time his thrusts became slower to grind his hips into yours. The sheer look of awe on Hongjoong's face kept your chest warm. He adored every part of you. He took joy from every action, sound, sight that surrounded him as he thrusted slowly inside of you.
Your eyes slammed shut and you heard his soft groan fall against your ears, a satisfied sigh meeting them shortly after. He shuddered when you held him close and caressed a hand up the sweaty back. He laughed and returned the gesture, resting his head on your shoulder and tucked close into your neck. He rubbed his hands soothingly down your back, up and down, feeling the steady and comforting pace that had you both calm, yet his dick was still hard and pulsed deep within.
"I love you, baby," he whispered. His voice had softened and his hips moved smoothly in a tender sway that left your head falling back and your back arching closer towards him, hips jerking erratically and needy.
"I love you too, Hongjoong," you answered, crying quietly as your fingers tensed and pressed against the hard and sturdy muscles of his back. "So so much."
The squeaking of the bed creaked loudly and your breathing felt uneven, your heart beating frantically as you felt his dick slide in and out. The rhythm was smooth and pleasant, making you whine when his hands suddenly slid up to gently brush your sides and cupping the softness of your breast, playing with them, pinching, twisting, flicking. All while whispering sweet little nothings into your skin as you trembled with overflowing affection.
"Mommy looks so sexy like this," he cooed into your shoulder, laving at the skin with his tongue. "Trembling all around me and taking my love like such a good girl."
His groans became heavier and the rocking of his hips caused your mouth to drop open with each deep roll, your bodies pressed together without an inch of space. You could feel every inch of him in such detailed clarity. "So lovely, so good. Such a good wife, a mother. Beautiful."
Your orgasm reached quickly, far too quickly. You moaned and yelled his name, throwing your head back and forcing your legs to stay clamped around him as the waves crashed through and you were left gasping, taking the air that had disappeared during the peak of bliss.
His fingers intertwined with yours, kissing your cheek lovingly. He lowered his head against your breasts and licked, sucked and gently bit into them. A content sigh came from his chest and he gave a squeeze with his teeth, massaging his hands all over your body, on your breast, on your back, and everywhere he could reach as your whole body shook. He came apart, unloading himself inside of the condom. Your fingers entangled in the strands of his hair, letting the moans ring in the air.
Once you both could finally breathe normally and had gotten the energy back to speak, Hongjoong collapsed on the bed next to you. He pulled the condom off, tying it up and dropping it into the trash before pulling you back to cuddle up to his chest.
"You good, love?" he whispered against your temple, pressing kisses as he awaited a reply.
"Yeah..." your breathing was quiet but content. It had been so long since the both of you were intimate, especially without worry of little interruptions or noisy children waking up throughout the night and demanding attention.
You cuddled closer to Hongjoong, reaching up to feel your face hot and a dorky smile crossed his lips, bringing his face down to nuzzle against your forehead.
He sighed softly against your hair. His voice, a gentle, sleepy slur. "What's on your mind?"
"Sleepy," you blurted out, squeezing your husband against your chest. "And then we can go again after a little rest."
"How demanding," Hongjoong let out a laugh as he snuggled closer to your chest.
"You knew what you signed up for when you put a ring on this finger, Kim Hongjoong. Get ready to provide all the affection I want,” you grinned.
Hongjoong scoffed, wriggling to hold your body. He hid the small smile curling on his lips. "Good grief, woman."

[you]: hey just checking in, are you okay
september 15th ~ sunday ~ 10:17 p.m
A book has lived on your lap for two days now. Since you woke up Saturday late morning after your night at ATZ, you’ve been situated in the center of your bed getting a head start on assignments, setting your planner up for the semester, making sure everything was in absolute order. This was the most important part of being here.
Not the boys, not the parties, not the sisterhood drama… The grades.
Nasara offered you a spectacular scholarship because you were actually pretty booksmart. And thank god for it too, you knew your dad would never be able to send you here on his own. He had money to spend, but it didn’t necessarily go to you without a good motive.
The grades had to stick. The grades had to be almost perfect.
Or, you weren’t getting that degree.
Being in a sorority without a doubt took a toll on your wallet, and your fathers. When there were fundraisers you were working your ass off to make sure you raised enough money to both keep the place going as well as hand some of it over to the charity you were doing it for. That’s partially why coming into this year has been so nerve wracking. There were nine of you in the house. You were not prepared to see the cost come the beginning of next month.
Your dad paid for September. He took a couple jobs and was able to give it to you in full. The rest of the year was up to you. Not one part of you wanted to have to ask him for help. You were capable. You were able to do it. The rest of these girls had money, they had the fame… You’d been hustling for two years, you could make it two more.
There was always the option to move into the dorms, or better yet, move into an apartment off campus somewhere in Delo which sparked your fancy. The only issue is there would be no one to take with you, and the only acceptable way to go about it would be to do it with a roommate. Tori was off the table, she was obsessed with the ITZ house, plus it was a couple minutes away from her boyfriend. Why would she ever want to move further from that?
Flipping a page in your notebook, the door to your bedroom swung open and a flustered Tori stormed in, her brows scrunched, her eyes pointed to the floor. She bounced about the room, tossing her blankets around, dropping to her knees to file through her things under her bed, jumping to her feet to scour her drawers.
A sleepy eyed Yuna popped her head in the doorway looking equally as stressed as your roommate. “Hey, Ror,” she mumbled, her eyes darting around the floor and the shelves. “Tor, I don’t think you brought it in here.”
“Hey,” you said to her. “What are you looking for?” Focusing on Tori, you closed your notebook. The two of you haven’t discussed Friday night. Nothing’s been unpacked. She’s been busy with sorority things and hanging out with Mina and Yuna.
It sometimes fell that way this time of year, at least it did your sophomore year. The three of them were on the board, they were more important than you and your other friends. Though, last year it was only Tori and Yuna taking some time to themselves, overwhelmed by the sudden responsibility. Now she was in on it.
“My ITZ planner,” Tori sighed, her vision tunneled on her surroundings, speaking hushed, but with power. “I had it at the meeting on Friday, I left it in the house, it didn’t come out with me. That has stuff in it that Yeji didn’t write down, if I don’t find it…”
“You’ll find it,” Yuna nodded. “I’ll go check out my room just in case I grabbed it, then I’ll check Yeji’s desk.” She was gone in a flash.
Tori drug a hand through her waves, her hair falling naturally down her back. With no makeup on, her tan skin still had the ability to glow. “Ror,” she muttered, spinning around in a circle to face you. Meeting her eyes, you tried to smile, but it didn’t come through as such. She was so frustrated anyhow, she probably didn't even notice. “Can I check your stuff?”
Hesitating, you shrugged. “You think I took it?”
Tori groaned, her hands digging through her hair once more. “God, no,” she said. “Just in case, I don’t think you took anything, I just have to check everywhere…” Her hands started flying, her brown eyes manic and panicked.
“Okay, okay,” you said, waving her along with a hand toward your bed and your things below it. “Whatever you gotta do, go for it.” She dropped to the floor and you turned back to your book, opening your notebook to copy down notes from your classes this past week.
Tori pulled baskets of clothes out, rifling through them, then she moved on when she didn’t find what she was looking for. Searching through some extra bags you had stored under there, she moved through every bin, every basket, every bag. Nothing. Then, she moved to the other side where you had more recent things shoved without any rhyme or reason. Shoes you’ve worn recently, your textbooks for class, the bag you’d use for classes- she opened that and searched through it.
She popped her head up, looking at you, you could feel it. Turning your head slowly, you found her confused.
“What?” you asked.
“Ror,” she said quietly, holding up an opened light purple package with words on the front that made you want to be sick. She was shocked, her lips parted ever so slightly. “Is this yours?”
Swallowing hard, feeling your stomach in your throat, you couldn’t lie your way out of this one. “I… Yeah, guess I forgot to throw that out.”
Tori flipped it toward her to read it, then she shot you another crazed look. “Why the fuck did you take a Plan B?”
Hm, now this was interesting.
You could lie.
But, at this point now there was no sense in lying.
“Seonghwa?” she whispered.
Yep, no reason to lie.
“Seonghwa,” you breathed, and she leapt to her feet, the box flying from her fingers onto the floor. She jumped onto your bed, the mattress moving beneath you.
“Aurora, what?” She almost gasped. Her knees bumped into yours as she tucked her knees up on the blankets. “When, what?”
You closed your book for good, setting it aside. Taking a breath, you looked up at her and cringed. “Last Friday?”
“Last Friday!” she shouted. Shushing her, she clamped her hands over her mouth at the same time. “I’m not sorry, what the fuck?! That’s why we lost you? You were upstairs with Seonghwa?”
“I was,” you whispered, glancing down at your lap. “We were both drunk, it happened, like, so fast.”
Tori snapped her jaw shut and sat up straight. The way she looked at you made you feel about sixteen years old. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Leaning back, you shrugged, then grabbed onto your ankles and sighed. “You got Mina,” you whispered, and she squinted.
“What?”
You cleared your throat. “You got Mi-”
Tori slapped a hand to your wrist. “No, yeah, I heard you, Ror,” she scoffed. “I mean, what?” She leaned into you, dipping her chin down to meet your eyes. After another shrug as answer from you, she shook her head and laughed. “No, no, unacceptable. I won’t take that. What do you mean that’s why you didn’t tell me you fucked Seonghwa?”
“Don’t say it,” you sneered, eyeing your open bedroom door. Tori flipped her hair back and let another laugh of disbelief. “I didn’t tell you ‘cause you’ve been so close with her, and clearly you’ve told her plenty about me. This isn’t a big deal, I didn’t want it to become a thing.”
She rolled her eyes and settled her hands into her own lap. “Fine, you’re right, I told her too much.”
“Thank you,” you said within a breath, blinking away the obnoxiousity.
“It wasn’t right,” Tori reached a hand toward you, one you took, “I’m sorry. You’re my friend first, my best friend. I shouldn’t have said what I said. She should’ve found it all out naturally.”
Squeezing her hand, you tightened your lips. “She shouldn’t have found out about it at all.”
Tori raised a brow every so slightly, the one with the piercing in it. “Do you like Mina?” Your nervous system sparked fight or flight, but in a way that made you groan aloud and half out yourself when you wanted to keep all feelings about it inside. “Wait, what’s happened, I thought everything was chill, we were helping her get Yunho, and taking her to the parties, breaking her out…”
“Yeah,” you said. “Helping her with all that.” Letting yourself collect your thoughts, Tori waiting patiently, you really didn’t know what to say.
For starters, you haven’t spoken to Yunho since you left his house Friday night. Acquiring your phone from Seonghwa after fleeing the boys bedroom, you walked home, teetering to the side most of the way. Getting yourself up onto your balcony, sloppily, you fell onto your bed and rolled off of it, putting yourself together for bed before Tori made it back into the house.
She appeared later on. The girls told you they came in Ryujin and Isla’s window instead, not wanting to disturb you if you were asleep. Which you were.
None of them know you were there two nights ago.
“Mina’s… Alright,” you said, shrugging. “I like that she’s getting more comfortable, I want her to be comfortable… I hate what I said at dinner, no one deserves that, especially where she is in life, that’s nothing to be ashamed about.” Looking at Tori, both of your lips were pouted. They started to turn into smiles, then eventually giggles.
“Don’t ever not tell me things again,” Tori said through her grin. “Okay?”
Nodding, calming your smile, you said, “Okay.”
Lying straight to her face.
“Now,” she said, scooting closer to you if it were possible. She wanted to occupy the same space. “Tell me everything, I need to know, you slept with the Vice President of ATZ… Is it true?”
You tilted your head. “Is what true?”
Tori made a face, jutting her chin forward like she couldn’t believe you didn’t get it. “The… the thing. Did he…”
Waiting for her to finish, she didn’t. “Tori, the what?”
“He didn’t do it? I guess not if I haven’t seen it.” She dropped her eyes to your neck and you immediately slapped your hand there, your eyes going wide. “He did.” She grabbed onto your elbows and shook you. “Aurora, you have to go to the Sweethearts Formal with him.”
“What? Why?” You’d much rather go with someone else. Shaking your head you pulled the collar of your sweatshirt down and showed her the dulling spot on the base of your neck. Tori started to smile.
“A little birdie told me that he does that,” she said, her voice suddenly acquiring the ability to quiet down.
“Mingi,” you said, flat as ever.
“Course,” she said without a beat. “But, here’s the kicker, Ror. This means no one else can touch you. Did anyone see you with it? I can’t believe I didn’t notice, I think I was so worried about Mina.”
Dropping your hands to your lap, you took a slow breath and let your eyes shut for a few seconds. “Tori, what do you mean? That no one else can touch me?”
She sat up and glanced toward the open door, then back to you. Whispering, she said, “You’re his. He’s, like, claimed you.”
“What?!” you shouted, and she shushed you, giggling as she did.
Latching onto your hands, she said, “The boys are serious about this, too. No one’s ever broken it. Mingi told me that if any of them get close then they’re forced to absolutely humiliate themselves, or something. I’m not really sure, ‘cause I don’t think any of them have even tried. You’re Seonghwa’s, and if any ATZ boys try anything with you then they’ll be kicked out of the frat.”
Your heart sunk into your stomach.
“Oh,” you said, nodding your head. Tori narrowed her eyes and rolled her shoulders back, inspecting you.
“Didn’t Yunho say Hwa was dating somebody?”
Gulping at the mention of his name, you shook your head. “He lied.”
Tori froze. “Why would he lie?”
“I dunno,” you spewed quickly, flipping open to a random page in your book, hoping to end this conversation before it drew on any longer. “He’s been weird this whole time we’ve been back.”
Tori glanced down at your work and pursed her lips. Sliding off your bed she spun around and clasped her hands behind her back. “It’s probably just what Mina said, yanno? Coming back, feeling overwhelmed? Did you guys…” Her pause made you look at her. “Oh,” she breathed. “Right.”
Rolling your eyes you took back to your book, you said, “No, we didn’t go to Blend.”
Tori nodded, looking around your shared room. “Right,” she muttered. “We’re banned. You guys have been talking though, right? Maybe you just have to pull him out of his head, you know how he gets sometimes.” She puttered about the room, looking through more things for her planner. “When he loves something he gets crazy. Remember his report on medieval Europe, or whatever he was hyper focused on?” You lifted your chin, watching her walk around. “That boy is kind, I’ll tell you that, but Mingi’s told me he’s been a little brain fried, I think.”
“What do you mean?” you whispered, watching her flip one of her empty designer purses upside down like something would miraculously fall out of it. She sighed and slumped over, then looked at you.
“You guys really haven’t talked?” She tossed the purse to the floor and took your head shake as an answer. Resorting to your shared closet she started pushing hanging clothes aside, dropping to her knees again so her hands could skim the floor full of shoes. “I guess he and I really haven’t either, with the ban, whenever we’re there I’m all over Mingi.” She giggled. An obscure fact, of course. “But, you know Yunho, Ror. When he has his brain set on something, a project, a report, a lesson… If it’s something he loves he’s gonna be scatterbrained.”
“Classes just started,” you said, voice tiny.
Tori flipped her hair over her shoulder and groaned. “Then, I dunno, Ror, maybe he’s in love with Mina or something, it’s a person then, not his schoolwork.” She shot out of the closet, shouting loud enough to wake up the house. “I FOUND IT!” Her ITZ planner covered in cute little stickers was in her hand as she jumped to her feet. Footsteps bound into the room, Yuna whipping around the corner at lighting speed. The two voiced their relief and started out of the room. Tori stopped before she left, looking back at you staring at the floor. “You good, Ror?”
Trying to take a breath, you attempted a smile, one she believed.
“Yeah, yeah,” you said even though you couldn’t feel your legs.
With a smile, she was gone, closing the door behind her.
Blinking, you took the shakiest breath, releasing it with a sigh, you whispered, “Fuck.”
september 15th ~ sunday ~ 11:15 p.m.
[starhwa]: Thinking about you, don’t work too hard this week, need my girl to be happy.
[you]: don’t worry, she’s not freaking out about her classes
[starhwa]: But she’s freaking out?
[you]: slightly
[starhwa]: Do you want to talk about it?
[you]: not yet, i’m sorry
[starhwa]: Don’t apologize to me, when you want to tell me you will.
september 16th ~ monday ~ 8:02 a.m.
[you]: you’re making me nervous, yo
[you]: i need to talk to you, please
september 16th ~ monday ~ 11:23 a.m.
“Small iced coffee, please, with cream and a shot of caramel.”
The cafe was empty for a Monday mid-morning, Blend usually buzzing and alive around seven when students would flood the concrete floor like feins, jonesing for a sniff of the freshly roasted coffee, allowing themselves to be late because they waited in the long lines that’d pour out the door. This semester you’d be avoiding those lines on a Monday, your first class didn’t start until noon.
“Small?” The barista teased, using his ring covered fingers to push his dark hair from his eyes. It fell towards his lanky shoulders, his smaller frame swallowed by the brown apron he had to wear over his jeans and t-shirt. Turning to get started on your coffee, he raised a brow. “You’ve gone weak.” His eyes drew over your outfit, a hoodie and jeans. “Junior year means you’re watching your caffeine?” He mimicked a British accent and you both laughed.
“No,” you smiled, adjusting your bag on your shoulder, “Maybe just watching the anxiety?” Your accent was terrible, and he was quick to call you out on it.
“Darling,” he widened his eyes and crossed behind the bar, fixing your cup. “That was awful,” you both laughed, “Why are we anxious, the year has just started?”
Shrugging, you weren’t sure what to say to him.
Taeyang, with Theo written on his nametag, lowered his brows and rolled his eyes. “I don’t like that answer.” He pumped an extra shot of caramel in your cup, his subtle way of showing you that you were one of his favorites. “Choi Aurora,” he said, setting his eyes on you. Popping a lid and a purple straw into your cup, he came back toward the register and almost handed you your cup, taking it back before you could grab it. “Where’ve you and your friend been?”
“Tori?” you asked, and he shook his head.
“The boy, Yunho,” he said, stone faced. “You’re usually all up in here. Last semester I had to kick you guys out ‘cause we were closing and you two wouldn’t shut up.”
Averting your eyes to the counter, you shrugged again. “There’s been house drama, I guess,” you said. When you found his eyes, his deep, off putting, mystery filled eyes, you said, “We’ve been banned from seeing them.”
The accent was back and he lost it, sliding you your coffee, punching in numbers on the register. “Sorry to hear that, sweetums,” he said, shooting you a smile. The door to the cafe swung open behind you, the little bell that hung above it sung a little song. “Three seventy five.” Setting his hands on the counter, Theo nodded his head to whoever was behind you while you rifled through your bag for the cash. “What can I get started for you?”
“Iced Americano, large,” the familiar voice said, coming a bit closer to you.
Theo shot you a look. “One large coming up.”
“Shut up, Tae,” you grumbled. Your wallet was gone, and you couldn’t even fumble together random cash from the bottom of your bag. Tori must’ve dropped it on the floor when she was looking for her planner, but thank god she put the empty Plan B box back in here, because that was important. “Can I still send it to your number? Is that a thing?” Fumbling for your phone you slid it open and sent an urgent message to your father.
[you]: can i please have five dollars quick, just trying to buy a coffee
[choi asshole #1]: I sent you fifty last week so you’d have it for coffee. Where the fuck did that go already?
[you]: coffee
The empty box in your bag.
“Yeah, Ror, that’s fine,” Theo said with a brow scrunch, already serving the boy behind you. “Six fifty.”
“Ror?” The boy behind you stepped up the counter, leaning his elbows on it. “I got this, put us together.” Whipping your head to the right you’re greeted with blonde hair and black eyes, the tall boy giving you the smallest smile. “What’s up?”
Glancing to the coffees, you said, “You don’t have to do that.”
Soul shrugged, taking a sip of his. “It’s my pleasure.”
Theo laughed, sending you a look. “It’s his pleasure,” he whispered in the accent, making you smile. Soul’s gaze traveled from him to you, and he stood up straight, towering over you.
“Where are you headed?” he asked, slapping a twenty on the counter. Grabbing his drink he started to walk away, taking you with him.
“This is too much, Shota,” Theo said, voice low, studying him through his lashes. The freshman turned back and waved him off.
“Keep it,” he said without a thought. “Thanks, bro.”
Theo rolled his eyes and popped the cash in his drawer. “Anytime, bro.”
“Thanks, Tae,” you said, waving as you walked beside Soul, taking a sip of your coffee. “This is the best, thank you.” He didn’t look up, he only bobbed his head.
Soul held the door for you, the two of you stepping out into the September breeze. Delo stayed fairly warm until the fall months, but not like Sicuro, or Contramano. Those areas stayed hot for long. Delo was comfortable, it was perfect. Hoodies in September, sweaters in November, sundresses in March and April… You adored every bit of it.
“You didn’t answer my question,” Soul said, looking down at you. Sipping your coffee you scrunched your brow. “Where are you headed?” His hair was clean, hanging over his forehead, touching his shoulders. He wore something similar to what he was in the other night, ripped black jeans and a random t-shirt that fit his aesthetic.
“I have business statistics at twelve,” you said. He started to smile, his lips pressed together, then his eyes scanned your being like yours did to his.
Way to be subtle, Ror.
“Business statistics,” he curled his lip. “You smart people. What’s your major?”
“Marketing,” you said, and he stared at you, not computing. “It’s basically business.”
“Coulda started with that,” he huffed a laugh, then pointed around for directions. “Lead the way.”
Raising your brows, you asked, “You’re gonna walk me there?”
Soul sipped his coffee and gave you a look of surprise. “What kind of gentlemen would I be if I bought you a coffee and made you walk to class all alone on this beautiful day and this…” he glanced around, “...very safe, very clean, very put together college campus.”
He took note of the smile that had found your lips at some point standing here with him. “Alright,” you said, starting down the street to the left, “This way, Soul.”
Falling in step with you, he seemed to find you more interesting than the commotion of other students around him. Asking you questions about when you started at Nasara, how you got into ITZ, how you became friends with the members of ATZ… He got a brief history lesson while he guzzled down his coffee.
“You’re going to join, right?” His eyes went wide while he sipped from his straw, answer enough. “You and your friends? That I met at the house?”
“Yeah,” he smiled, proud. “Me, Seob, Intak… We’ve been friends since high school, we’ve been waiting for this for three years.”
Taking a right down a street corner, Soul kept himself in time with you, though you're certain he would walk much faster if you were the one following him. His legs could stretch for miles.
“Three years? You’ve wanted to go to Nasara since you were a sophomore in high school?”
Soul tossed his empty cup into a trash can on the street and shoved his hands in his pockets. “You know Taeyang was in ATZ, right? Theo?” Pausing at a green light while the cars passed by, you looked up at him curiously. “Tae?”
“Yes, I know who you’re talking about,” you half laughed, shaking your head.
“He’s my brother,” he said nonchalantly, moving his focus to the traffic.
Popping your jaw open, you said, “Oh my god, wait, he graduated last year. He’s your brother?”
Soul shrugged. “Step-brother,” he mumbled as if the words tasted bad. He turned to you. “My dad married his mom right before he graduated high school.”
“Interesting,” you said, grabbing his arm when the light turned red and the crosswalk sign lit up. Soul moved into you, a crowd of people coming from the opposite way forcing you together. “He’s never said anything about a brother.”
“‘Cause he hates me,” Soul scrunched his nose, again with some sort of pride, some sort of confidence. Landing on the other side of the street you both took your hands to yourselves and headed toward the end of the street where a massive building waited for you.
“Why would he hate you, he’s a grown adult who-”
“I fucked his girlfriend.”
Stopping dead in your tracks he didn’t catch on until a couple steps later. Taking in the shock on your face as he turned around, the grin that lit him up was entirely adorable, a word that shouldn't be used after what he’s just told you. Walking backwards, willing you to follow him, he laughed.
“You’re not serious,” you said.
Soul nibbled his bottom lip. “I’m so serious.” Expertly threading his feet behind him, he cocked his chin up and asked, “Am I ATZ material?”
Rolling your eyes, you said, “This year I think you fit right in.”
He allowed you to catch up to his side, then he spun around and continued forward, eyeing the building you were approaching. “Theo’s mom doesn’t think I’m smart enough,” he mumbled, a secret he didn’t seem to want to say. Either that, or he hasn’t had anyone to say it to. Giving him a look, he hung his head back, the confidence still pouring from him despite his sudden lament. “My dad could pay them off though,” he shrugged, meeting your eyes. “Another reason for Taeyang to hate me.”
“Well,” you began, pausing at the bench on the street in front of the double doors you were meant to go inside. Dropping your bag to the seat you searched for a lipgloss and pulled it out, twisting it open. “That’s not very fair.”
Sliding the brush over your lips, Soul watched. “It’s not?” he asked, his voice almost whispering. Rubbing your lips together you shook your head.
“Not really, I mean most of those guys work really hard,” you said. Applying another layer of gloss, Soul poked the tip of his tongue between his lips. Rubbing your lips together with a smack this time, he snapped his eyes back to yours. “I think if you just applied yourself and worked hard to get your grades up this first semester, they’d consider you without the money.” He bobbed his head, hanging onto every word. Taking the last sip of your coffee, the straw sticking to your fresh gloss, Soul held out his hand.
“I’ll take care of it,” he breathed, his eyes flickering to your lips again. Slipping the cup into his hand you slung your bag over your shoulder and smiled.
“Thanks,” you said, and he nodded. “For the coffee and the walk.”
“Anytime.” His face was so pure, so seemingly innocent that one would never be able to believe he fucked his older brothers girlfriend. “Thanks for the advice.”
“Of course.” Ignoring the way he ogled your lips again, you headed toward the double glass doors, not going inside until you threw him a, “Work hard, Soul,” over your shoulder.
september 17th ~ tuesday ~ 3:30 p.m.
[choi asshole #1]: I’ll be in Contramano until Saturday Aura.
[you]: wonderful, enjoy, bring home the big bucks
[choi asshole #1]: Don’t talk like that, come on.
[you]: what else do you do in Mano
The phone screen lit up, choi asshole #1 in bright white letters across the top of it.
“Who’s calling you?” Tori asked from the seat at the table next to you. She leaned on your shoulder and gasped, the sound startling you. “Answer it, answer it, answer it.”
Disgust bled onto your face as you looked at her. “Don’t have a crush on my dad, Tor.”
“How can I not?” she whispered, staring at the bouncing text on the screen. His photo was a funny one of you two from when you were a toddler, sitting on his lap, the two of you with matching pigtails in your hair. Releasing a breath, you gave her a small headshake, then drug the arrow across the screen, answering the video call.
“Hi, Dad,” you said, not the least bit excited to listen to what he had to say. Tori grabbed the back of your hand and twisted the phone so you were both in the frame.
“Hi, Mr. Choi,” she crooned, sitting her chin in her hand.
He appeared, his black hair parted to the side over his forehead, cut short, but long enough to reach his brows. “Tori, how many times do I have to tell you, call me Yeonjun, I don’t like the honorifics.”
She smiled and giggled. “It’s respect, Mr. Choi, I can’t not call you anything but that.”
Your father clicked his tongue and glanced over his phone, a woman's laugh sounding off camera. “Fine,” he said, then looked back at you. “Aura, I wanna be able to give you enough for next month, that’s why I’m going.”
“Okay,” you said, hardening your glare.
Yeonjun glanced over the phone once more, seeming to share a sigh with whoever was behind the screen. “It’s fast,” he said, trying to reason with you. “Your uncle’s coming with me, we’re gonna be fine.”
“And Seulgi? Or is that Lisa?” You swallowed your laugh as Tori launched herself out of the frame to lose her composure. Yeonjun laughed, letting his head bob.
“It’s Haru, but thank you for that.”
You smiled. “Of course.”
“How was your first week of classes? The second starting out okay?”
Ignoring the way Tori tapped your arm, you leaned over the table and focused on the phone. “They were just great, Dad. Same old shit.”
“And the sorority? Everything going okay?”
Now you shared a look with Tori, one that told her to keep her mouth shut.
“It’s all good,” you said, looking down at your phone. He was walking around now, the woman he was with mumbling things to him as his brows twisted. The two spoke to one another for a second before he focused on you.
“Glad to hear it, Aura,” he finally said. “You staying away from the boys down the street?”
A knife to the gut. “As much as you’re staying away from the women in Contramano.”
Yeonjun shot a glare toward the camera, the woman laughing aloud near him. “Really hope you’re not serious, Aurora. Remember what I told you, they’re trouble. They might look all nice from the outside, but they’re only thinking about one thing.”
“What if we are, too?” Tori whispered, and a laugh shot through you. Thankfully, your father didn’t hear.
“I don’t want or need any grandkids yet, okay?”
“Yeah, and I don’t want or need any siblings, okay? Wrap it before you tap it, Junie.”
Tori just about lost her shit.
Yeonjun shook his head and glanced upward, seeking some sort of help from the heavens. “You’re my child. Think I made you myself. Did your mother help at all?”
Running your tongue over your teeth you tilted your head. “If you ever find her, ask her.”
Yeonjun sighed, exasperated. “These phone calls exhaust me as much as they exhaust you, Aura. Trust me.” He paused whatever it was that he could possibly be doing at this hour on a Tuesday, and he gave you his full attention. “You are my everything. Please, be safe. You and Tori, don’t leave each other alone at those parties, okay?”
“Okay,” you said.
Tori peeped her head into the frame. “Okay, Yeonjun.”
His face lit up, his smile wide as he looked at her. “Yes! Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” she said, her cheeks flushing pink. You kicked her ankle with yours.
“Aura, I love you,” your father said, raising both his brows. “I’ll let you know when I’m there, okay?”
“Okay,” you whispered. “I love you, too. Be safe.”
He gave you a soft smile. “I will.”
Before he hung up you tossed in a, “Don’t get arrested again,” that made him grin and equally groan as the screen went black. Laying your phone on the table you drug your hands through your hair and took a long breath, turning towards Tori in your chair, laughing quietly at the way she eyed you.
“Go ahead,” you muttered.
She wasted little time. “Hottest drug dealer ever.”
september 18th ~ wednesday ~ 6:47 p.m.
[you]: this is the last time i’m messaging you yunho
[you]: did i sit on your dick wrong or something, just let me know whats going on
september 20th ~ friday ~ 9:19 p.m.
Yeji, Tori, Mina, Yuna, Chaeryeong… The three of them holed up in a meeting the second all of their last classes for the day were over. In two days you’d all be meeting the freshmen recruits out of the applicants your trustworthy sisters ran background checks on now.
ITZ had applicants. The chapter would grow, the costs would go down, the drama would lessen, and life would move on.
Neither you and Tori nor any of the other girls have attempted to sneak out of the house this week. With classes in full swing the attention had shifted and now the priority was homework and good grades. In order to be examples for the future of ITZ none of you could afford a slip in GPA.
This past week has been a strange one. Anytime you set foot into Blend for a coffee you were reminded that Theo and Soul were step brothers, though you never brought it up to your favorite barista who also in turn had been one of the safest guys you knew in ATZ last year. Seonghwa hadn’t left you alone, he asked you about your day everyday, allowing you to rant about your classes or bitch about a professor. And Soul, well, he always seemed to find you on campus day after day since Monday.
Much like right now.
The soft knock at the door seemed to embody his exact energy. Soft at first, but the second the door was opened he was entirely unpredictable.
“What the hell are you doing here?”
After unlocking the several locks on the front door you tugged it open to his smug little smile and his blonde hair pulled back in a tie. Wisps hung at his neck and his forehead.
“Come to ATZ,” he said, and you hushed him, turning backward to see if anyone was around. They’d been in the meeting for over an hour now, who knew when it’d be over.
“You’re lucky I answered the door,” you said. “If it were anyone else you’d be done for. You’re not allowed to be here.”
He perked a single brow. “The ban?”
“The rules, Soul,” you hissed, stepping out onto the porch with him, closing the door behind you. He stepped aside and folded his arms over his chest. “That’s always been an ITZ thing, it’s a sorority thing, no boys allowed without permission.”
He checked you out without shame. Taking your hands to your black shorts you tugged the cotton down a smidge. “Come for a little?”
“Look, Soul,” you sighed, stepping closer to him. He pouted his lips the slightest, his black eyes shining and wide. “I like this friendship we’re starting, and I admire your persistence.”
“But?” he asked, adding in the word himself like he knew it was coming. Dropping his chin he looked down at his feet, a frown forming on his pink lips.
“But,” you said, watching him as he slipped his phone out of his pocket, tapped a few things, then shoved it back into his jeans. Laughing quietly, you gestured toward it. “You’re young.”
“I’m nineteen.” He screwed his face up.
“You’re a freshman, you’ve got a lot on your plate right now, especially with ATZ, I’m dealing with a lot, especially with ATZ,” you paused for a moment, feeling half your heart crumble as he gazed at you. “If I’m picking up what I think you’re putting down… Soul, I have feelings for somebody else. What you want won’t work, it won’t happen.”
He nodded, his expression falling solemn. “Seonghwa?” he asked, looking up at you.
Your lungs contracted in on themselves. “Yes,” you whispered, and he nodded, glancing down with his brows pulled together. “I’m sorry, Soul. You’re cool, you’ve got a lot going for you.” Taking another step closer to him, you pushed some wisps of hair from his eyes. “And you’re adorable.”
He blinked a few times, his black eyes lighting up. “I am?” He spoke in a whisper.
Smiling, you nodded once, then leaned into him, pressing your lips to his cheek. His shoulders rose and a quiet gasp shot through him. When you pulled back, he was wearing the tiniest smile.
“If you liked that Monday walk I wouldn’t mind if it became a thing,” you said. “Y’know, occasionally. Grab a coffee, walk to class?”
“I skipped my ten o’clock for you,” he whispered, then he giggled at the look you gave him.
“Soul, didn’t I say to work hard?” You nudged his shoulder and he played it up like you shot him, his hand latching on top of yours to keep it on him. “How did you even know where I was?”
He shrugged, squeezed your hand, then let it go. “Lucky guess?”
Sighing, you stepped back and waved him off the porch. “Go to your classes, Soul. Go back to ATZ, or wherever you came from.” You both shared a smile, and he obeyed, leaping off the porch with a single jump. “Don’t ruin your chance,” you shouted as he walked backward, his eyes eating you up. “You can do it here,” you pointed to your head, then moved them to where your pockets would be if you had any. “Not from here.”
“Thanks, Aurora,” he said, and when he hit the sidewalk after passing through the gate, he was gone, thankfully, because the moment you had the door locked the meeting was adjourned and Tori had a wicked grin on her face when she grabbed your arm and hauled you upstairs.
september 20th ~ friday ~ 9:49 p.m.
On the leather couch in the back of the ATZ living room, Seonghwa sat with his legs stretched out, his entire being taking up the space of three people. With his head laid back on the armrest, he scrolled his phone, mainly Instagram, taking note of the follower counts, the comments on posts, and what people were saying about either house.
Yeji was trending, she posted her outfit of the day this morning with the hashtag #presidentialvibes on her story. Her groupies were buzzing, dissecting the clothes, breaking down the hair, curious if it were her same routine or if she had changed it because of the new color.
Wooyoung’s name popped up somewhere, he was always posting. This time it was of the view from the window of his education and society class, the sociology major keeping up with his followers, commenting back to them whenever they’d leave him something of interest. San was actively under his posts, the boy was next in line in the amount of followers he had, but only because every single post was of him half naked. Thank god he was smart otherwise there’d be an issue there, even though he was usually the one to pull people into the house and get them hooked.
Mingi posted about his homework confusing him, saying he needed help, Jongho, like Yeji, posted a fit check, and Yeosang had a photo up in the last two days of him and this girl he’d started seeing. She wasn’t a part of ITZ, something he was keen on. They shared a major, that medical shit. Her profile was quiet, just as the other ITZ girls were.
As was Yunho.
In fact, he’d been keeping a low profile in the house since last week. The guys would see him leave for class, and then he’d come back and camp out in his bedroom.
Last Friday was curious. Seonghwa had Aurora by his side, as he should, and then she was gone. And then, Yunho was gone. The house, entirely too crowded, made it impossible to track them down anyway, until Aurora appeared and asked for her phone back. Tentative to hand it over, intrigued by how fast she was moving, Seonghwa reluctantly handed it back to her and mumbled, “You need to put a passcode on that.”
But, she didn’t hear him.
She was flustered, overwhelmed, and all the more flushed.
Seonghwa knew that face.
Seonghwa knew why Yunho was avoiding everybody.
“Hey,” Soul said, out of breath, rushing into the living room with his phone out. There was little movement around the house this evening, Hongjoong was working on plans for the recruitment dinner with Mingi, and the others were hunched over their homework scattered around the property. Yeosang was on the couch through the archway, nose deep in a textbook with the occasional break to send a text message with a smile.
“You’re back quick,” Seonghwa said, sitting up, dropping his feet to the floor. Soul, grinning wide, shoved his phone into the vice president's hand. “No way you made it happen.”
The freshman took two steps back and propped his hands on his hips, finally able to take a breath to steady his racing heart. “I did, watch that, listen to that.”
Seonghwa eyed him, then tapped the play button on the video.
Aurora’s voice filled the air.
“If I’m picking up what I think you’re putting down… Soul, I have feelings for somebody else. What you want won’t work, it won’t happen.”
“Seonghwa?”
“Yes. I’m sorry, Soul. You’re cool, you’ve got a lot going for you. And you’re adorable.”
“I am?”
Seonghwa’s eyes bugged out of his head as he stared up at Soul, the freshman laughing to himself. “She did it herself.”
Soul threw a hand toward the phone. “You were right, she’s easy.”
“Watch it,” Seonghwa sneered, and Soul planted his hands behind his back.
“She kissed my cheek,” he said. “It wasn’t an actual one, but it still counts, right?”
Seonghwa paused the video halfway through Aurora telling Soul how to live his life, like the boy would actually listen. “I’ll count it.”
“Thank you,” Soul sighed, tipping his head back, squeezing his eyes shut. Seonghwa looked him up and down.
“You tell me she’s shown interest?”
Soul looked at his domineer and nodded. “Not in her words, but…”
“In her eyes?” Seonghwa asked, and Soul continued to bob his head. “Yeah, she does that,” he breathed, handing the freshman his phone. “I’m sure she wouldn’t mind ending up in bed with you.” The corners of his lips perked up, and Seonghwa glared at him. “Wipe that look off your face, are you stupid? She’s mine, you heard her say it.”
“Right,” Soul shook his face clean. “You’re right. I’m sorry.”
Seonghwa clenched his jaw before he said, “Go home, Soul. Come back tomorrow, I’ll have something else for you.”
“This clears senior year though, right?” Soul asked, anxiously awaiting the answer.
“Just about,” Seonghwa said, and the boy sighed in relief. “You’ve passed with San, and you’re almost through with me. Gonna need you to keep up this act with her, okay?” Soul smiled. “An act, Shota. Don’t get ballsy, do you remember what you said? She’s easy.”
“Yeah,” Soul said, quietly. “I got it.”
“Go back to the dorms. I’ll send you her location tomorrow if she goes out.”
Seonghwa watched him hurry from the house, giving Yeosang a sly goodbye as he passed him. An act. One Seonghwa knew Aurora and the freshman who moved with his dick instead of his brain wouldn’t be able to hold themselves back from.
Picking his own phone back up, he opened his messages and smirked.
[seonghwa]: Soul’s in her head now. Can’t confirm if last Friday is true or not still. Will let you know when I find out.
[hbic]: You need to recruit him.
[seonghwa]: He’s proving himself. If he can get her here, he’s an automatic in. His GPA sucks.
[hbic]: Keep her hooked. Have they been talking?
[seonghwa]: No proof. Haven’t seen Yunho in days.
[hbic]: Get Soul to find out. Otherwise we find out at the recruitment dinner.
[seonghwa]: Yes ma’am.
[hbic]: I’ll update Yeji.

I love how your opnions abt the show match mine so much cause ive been feeling the excat same way abt clankie, ppl describe them as a “fast slow burn” but they just arent. They just go from sometimes talking to frankie sundally being head over heels for cleo then back to barley talking w some the slightest bits of being romantic(by that i mean one shot of them sitting at a table) i truly dont blame ppl for wanting cleuce back cause these two had so much chemistry toghter so many ups and downs that clankie just doesnt have, ive been feeling the same way abt g3 habby too-it feels like we went from heath having a big crush on abbey to sundally them datin, it legit does feel(like you said) that their just catering to g1 fans, same w draclawd which is ironic cause i legit felt nothing when i saw heath ask abbey or clawd ask draculaura for prom despite loving them alot in g1-they just lack the fun dynamiacs the two couples had, draclawd being a himbo x bimbo Romeo/Juliet couple while habby having a jessica & roger rabbit dynamic, all they do now is just blush & hold hands thats rlly it - also honestly seeing frankie try to figure out this new feeling would be a really interesting concept, it would get me more on board w the ship-it could be a nice way to help kids who r still questioning its not something i see any show do they useally have the character already know their queer
(Yeah the club feels like a lowky retcon, its mentioned one time then completely vanishes never mentioned again-the way its introduced is so awkard too they just have drac tell us what it is then cut to ghoulia sitting in one if the chairs-it would feel much more natrual if again like you said it was used to further devlop clankie & to help frankie figure out their feelings, trying to live up to her exes is a rlly fun concept too n could work just as well)
Right, its why i say g1 was better at contextualizing the newer characters like why wasnt catrine at monster high? Oh yeah cus she lived in scaris before! Boom there done , now why did teez never show up before? Hell if i know 🤷🏽♂️ but his here now , also im the excat same way-i see ppl bash g1 for having random episodes that dont connect n are just random when it never set up to be a serialized show-its an episodic one, its like complaining shows like courage dont have one overarching story, g3 however DOES set up to be a serialized show, to have one overarching story yet it never allows conflicts to proced beyond one episode , like antoer user said it wants to be the next amphibia or owl house but its far too simplistic to make those show’s sort of story work-i strongly agree they should have just made it a simplistic episodic show w silly monster teen shenanigan like g1-its where monster high works best, the more serialized overarching story sort of format works much better for ever after high
Oh PLEASE do a post for the lore & mythology if ur up for it cus i have so MUCH to say about it n would love to see ur take on it, i honestly hate the whole were-ruler concept due to it being based on a popular misinformation that wolves have an alpha(im autistic & have a special interest in wolves so thats why it bugs me alot) it doesnt even make sense for most of the wereanimals-why would the werecats care about whos the alpha?? Their house cats they dont have a hierarchy and like you said it has nothing to do w the school, it feels like its just half assed into the show so they can have a big conflict, i honestly in general just cant stand the wereanimals-thats the ONLY monster we ever get in terms of new characters n all of them just act like wolves or even cats(clawd jumping onto the wall when scared), the human vs monster conflict is also done so horribly-the monsters r still framed as being a minority like in g1 okay yet the show constantly depicts the monsters as practicing how to kill humans, lagoona stating she has killed multiple sailors in her life & when clawdeens dad comes everyone in the school tries to eat him, the show litrealy justifies humans discriminating againest monsters yet we r supposed to see them as the marginalized ones? Even tho their the ones attacking humans unprovoked? Its giving me disneys zombies energy , also as someone who is a witch-i rlly cant stand drac or the depiction of witchcraft lol they made it a human practice yet dont AT ALL bother takinh inspiration from actual witchcraft, its all just pretty lights n goofy spells n like i get it its a kids show but come on at least try to take some inspiration, you could make witches a seperete monster like in g1 and nothing would change in the story there was no need to make it a human practice
Also yeah i strongly feel you on bloodgood, she got streaked by the “adorkable” beam hard ,how i explain her is in g1 she actually felt like a guardian, she was characterized w how a teen might see their high school principal like (being very intimidating n rule following) in g3 however she acts like an adult sitcom character, shes also honestly such a hypercrite-she almost kills or well “expels” toralei after she “finds out” shes a witch yet just tells draculaura to not show off when she finds out shes a witch (its also so weird how nightmare barley ever appers anymore since in g1 they two were always seen toghter, nightmare was almost a part of bloodgoons design i mean after all she is the headless horsemans daughter)
Also MAN the relief i felt when u noted how stereotypical the characters are-ppl always get upset at ppl saying this n pulling out excuses like “but its not a stereotype some people are like this!!” Not getting thats litrealy what a stereotype is-its taking one aspect some ppl from a group has n applying it to the whole group, its not ppl making up things, like how lagoona is overly obbessed w telenovelas even tho shes 16-telenovelas are watched way more by the middle aged women then teen girls , it feels like they just slapped it there cus lagoonas latina n we ALL know latinas love their telenevolas am i right??(sarcasim) same thing w her having anger issues , why does it HAVE to be lagoona?? Why cant anyone else have anger issues?? Manny is litrealy right there he had that in g1
I also agree with everything you said-i would just add that the issue w the new ethnic backgrounds is they took away already prexisting representation, by that im refering to the wolf family-there was no need to make clawdeen biracial now when she was already a diverse character(being monoracial Black) n its even more upsetting when aside from drac all the other white main characters got to keep their race, their all still monoracial white , i remeber reading the show bible where it says nonbinary is normalized in monster high that it has tons of nonbinary characters-yet thats not what we actually see in the show, the only nonbinary character is frankie everyone else stayed cis it feels even more wrong to me since “frankenstein” is a common insult cis ppl throw at trans ppl, it feels wrong that in this massive school the only nonbinary character is the frankenstein monster
Monster high G3 rant
Watching the TV series and I’m kind of disappointed.
This will be my second watch of season 1, I’m rewatching after the current season 2 episodes.
the show feels very flat in my opinion. They’ve given the characters a lot of cool traits, but they’re used for like one episode and then never brought up, or they only use one specific trait 24/7. Like Frankie in this generation, they have the ability to electrocute, extend their body parts, and they get visions from the people they’re made out of. Specifically they get visions from this one recurring doctor/ scientist. The idea is cool, but the vision literally is there to give exposition about something conveniently. Like when they are trying to solve the puzzle of clawdeens mom, Frankie’s vision just conveniently tells them what to do and how to do it.
In that same episode, we see manny taur. A Minotaur character. And right away we are just told that he’s good at puzzle solving, and so is draculaura! They’re rivals! But this is the first time I’ve ever seen or heard about draculaura being into puzzles, let alone her one sided rivalry with manny. And as the episode ends, she’s like “well you can be the rightful puzzle master” but it feels so flat. There has been no build up to this moment.
Another example is lagoona. In her designated episode, she is rooting for torelai to win the fear-leading captain over draculaura (another thing that has no build up as to why it’s important to her) lagoona explains that torelai is holding a secret over her head, and if it gets out she will lose her status as the fiercest monster in school. But this is the first time we have heard this!! In previous episodes there’s no mention of her being scary or fierce. Or even her super fast swimming skills. It’s just brought up and glosses over with a “be who you are, it’s okay to like what you want! We all have secrets 🥹” but there’s no real character development.
My last example will be the way draculaura is presented in this series. From what she tells us, she has high standards to live up to as a vampire. She needs to look good for her day so she studies endlessly and is striving for perfection. But she also has a love for witchcraft, which is banned in monster high due to its connections to humans. This can be a cute premise, but they NEVER show draculaura compared to any other vampire to show how she’s supposed to act. They never give us episodes where she blows off her friend’s shenanigans because it makes her look bad, and they never really show her dad being so overbearing. They don’t show us WHY humans are hated. And even though witchcraft is banned, whenever anyone finds out about it they’re just cool with it? No push back or anything. The only character to challenge draculaura was torelai.
This all may be very nitpicky, but MH is a character driven franchise. Character relationships with each other and their surroundings are very important to me. I want to feel the so called pressure these characters are being put under. It doesn’t have to be ultra serious 24/7, but issues get resolved within one episode and then rehashed a few episodes later with no further development. Especially with characters like Cleo and lagoona. They have been benched as side characters in this show, and side characters get much worse treatment.
‘The general episode progression is like this - introduce an issue, introduce a high stakes situation that involves the school, have all or one of the main 3 engage in a sequence of fights against this issue(or rapid solving of said issue through convince) - issue is resolved and lesson is told to viewers-characters reset for the next episode.
I know this is a children’s show, but that doesn’t mean it needs to have bad writing, not all kids are high off cocomelon. Kids deserve good writing in their media!
My next rant will be about clawdeen and her story this generation
