"Wow, your diet is really."
A lack of words. The only sound being everything else but their own voices.
"Something... do you want to order a shake?"

"Don't worry1 I'll bring the rest home for leftovers." if one cup was enough, then it needs to be disgustingly filled with nutrients that even a broken body can absorb. Something for really old people.
"I just need to know what kind of flavor you can tolerate, since you hardly look like the type to experiment now at your age."
Also a lot of things that were probably insulting to the other, but oh well. If there was anything that Aiku was good at, it was piling on the nutrients in a short amount of time for long term gain. And if Toshi was still going to be a hero, its going to be strong.
「私が来た!」– …Put a little oomph in his responses, huh? He supposed that he had gotten rather melancholic as of late. Although that certainly hadn’t been helped by his lack of orientation and near constant worrying over how his students were doing. The squirming guilt he felt over how he had left things with his protégé. He was beginning to realize that he had left quite a bit behind after being transported here.
Toshinori rubbed the back of his neck with a sheepish sort of smile, “I’ll certainly try to.”
And then he saw what the young man had ordered and nearly went into a coughing fit in surprise —
“Oh… oh my goodness…” He looked from the various shakes back up at Oliver. “Ah… Young Aiku, I don’t want any of this to go to waste but I’m afraid there is no way that I can even finish one these… with my condition, I can only handle about a cup’s worth of food at any given meal.”
Perhaps he should have been clearer about some things?

Was this the faith of those who achieve what they set out to do? with extreme prejustice, it sounded like he given up everything that it took to be human. A whole self sacricing perosn [briefly a theory is formed due to his heroic antics] and it made him wonder what kind of place would allow all that suffering to happen to one person. Or what kind of place was fucked up enough to produce a person like this?
"Ah geez, put a little oomph in your responses. You never know if something might take your fancy."
And then he orders like four fruit shakes without sugar to the table. Blueberry, apple, pears, and a secret fourth.
"Alright, I decided. I'm going to find you a flavor you can tolerate, and then you decide which one you like best. Don't worry about it, I'ma. athelete. I know plenty of ways of making protein shakes tolerable."
At the very least it would distract the two from the situation at hand, that they are in a place where they didn't want to be. That they had important things to do, but right now they can't.
「私が来た!」– Toshinori pointedly avoided mentioning certain aspects of his failing health, not necessarily hiding them from the boy, but it was just that... they did not seem overly relevant to current issues and circumstance. The fight which had put this hole in his body to begin with, the existence of All of One.
It didn't matter here. All that mattered in this place was his condition itself, hardly the events surrounding it. Or so, that was how Toshinori had come to feel. No one needed to know about any of it.
At the mention of there not being anything he could eat and the suggestion of a protein shake, the man chuckled slightly. He supposed that Oliver was right... there really wasn't too much that wouldn't be hard on him here.

"Sure, order whatever you like, a protein shake would be just fine."
He drank plenty of those sorts of things - when he remembered to. The taste wouldn't put him off.

The man in front of him, he is full of damages. Something a professional athelete like him would scoff at, or at the very least try to avoid. Everything that made his blood sink lower, because the thought of someone like Toshi, going willingly into danger. Sacrificing his body one piece of another to a world where no one knows who he really is...
"How about protein shakes, can you drink them?" its the easiest thing he could offer, and one that despite the taste, is full of nutrients that the body desperately needs. Of course this is something out of his own kindness. Because seeing someone who is missing out on everything, seems a bit sad.
"I'm not sure this diner has anything you can eat. Safely."
Instead of eating something big, why not try and live a long life while you here?
「私が来た!」– The silence in the small café was deafening even if it just between the two of them.
"...Yes, it is rather shocking..." There was an air of resignation about the way he spoke.
A full gastrectomy, leaving him with somewhat limited options of what he could consume, a rather weighty list of things he should avoid, and an even longer list of supplements and medications. He no longer felt hunger, no longer received those all important hunger cues, and it had become difficult remember to eat when he simply did not feel it. Despite his numerous alarms and reminders, the idea of food often got away from him. Especially with his penchant for running to every cry for help that he heard.
Toshinori managed to pull a smile onto his face. He laughed slightly. "It is not quite that restrictive. I can still enjoy a number of things." Of course, he could eat whatever he pleased if he did not mind the symptoms and consequences that may follow soon after. However, overall, it was best to simply avoid some things if he wished to maintain halfway decent health. "If they have something small, I'll just take that…"
