Colson, this time, approached the board with a unique blend of satisfaction and pettiness. His nimble fingers adeptly secured a news clipping, showcasing a student's triumph in securing a coveted internship at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Germany. The radiant photograph of the student not only celebrated an individual victory but also underscored Colson's unwavering dedication to cultivating academic talent. He was proud, and showing off.

Stepping back to savor the newly added achievement, Colson couldn't suppress a pondering thought—would Professor Dahey respond with an eloquent countermove? His musings were abruptly interrupted as he inadvertently collided with Dahey, taken aback at the unexpected encounter. "My apologies, I…" A brief pause, then the realization settles. "Oh, it's you."

—shopping is one of the influencer’s favorite activities, if not her absolutely most favorite. she would never turn down an invitation for shopping, even though she was trying to detox from this habit of hers; she seriously didn’t need to be shopping like that when her best friend was, quite literally, hands down the most talented designer and she could have all those exclusive pieces before they were up for grabs. Honey told herself it was just part of hanging out with Dahey. the two of them were going to do some catch up, some shopping, the usual stuff. besides, she hadn’t seen them in a while, what better way to share their news over some shopping and a good brunch.

the music of the boutique they had stepped in was half distracting her, but soon she noticed they had lowered the volume after she made a comment about it to Dahey. Casually browsing through the racks, it was a pleasant surprise to also find some vintage designer pieces. “what do we think?” she asked them, holding a dress up against her frame, for her friend to have a look. it wasn’t a very original piece, just a black sleeveless dress with some feathers on the top. “oh, they also have it in red,” she picked up the other color to show them. in honesty, part of her, was still somewhat skeptical going shopping with them, even after all those shopping trips they had gone on together, her memory of how they had actually met was ever present. It skipped her how she had come to like them and they even became good friends, but she loved Dahey, they were fun to have around, a solid friend, even with their little…flaw.

THEIR STORY

Dahey was born in Ballinaglough, Ireland. On Christmas Eve and followed thirteen minutes later by his brother Davin. They were the Ryan’s first kids and they really wanted to have more, big families being great and all that, but found out having two at once was far more work than they were ready for. Especially a child as difficult as Dahey.

Not only did Dahey try and find trouble at every turn, not at all above making his own, he was far too intelligent for those poor nuns at the school. A bored kid with a troublesome streak quickly becomes everyone’s problem. Though Davin didn’t share the same need for constant entertainment, he was easily persuaded. They secured quiet a reputation for the Ryan family in town.

Though the boys were identical, they couldn’t have been any different. Davin was everything Dahey hated; soft, emotional, artsy, all that stuff. Dahey valued his studies and put that above everything else. With off the charts success in maths and sciences. He has a hard time admitting his love for space.

And until about sixteen, Davin and Dahey were inseparable. The sort of close that either makes people jealous or whisper behind their backs. But Dahey was finally able to put his smarts to use without the school  and soon left everything behind.

Dahey had never been one to listen to other’s opinions on how he should live, but it was around this time he put his foot down on the fact that he was not a boy. He’d always done all he could to push whatever boundary he was allowed to when it came to gendered clothes. Going to an all boys school didn’t give him many chances and his parents were never supportive Dahey’s free expression. However, he was old enough now to buy his own clothes and became unstoppable. Though it would take him a long, long time to put a label on it. At this point all he knew was “male” was not the term for him.

Leaving Ireland and his family behind, Dahey focused on his studies and earned a doctorate in mathematics. Doing the only thing he was suited for; imparting his wisdom on others. Or teaching as it’s more often referred to. He loves holding court and being the expert. He’d have been a terrible actor but sees the appeal.

And he taking a daring move, Dahey decided to hold said court in America. Deep down, he’ll always be Irish. Something he knows and loves but he’s outgrown the country. Salem Massachusetts wasn’t the first choice but it was the one that accepted his bid. For the first time, Dahey will be a professor. His time has finally come and he will settle for nothing but greatness from here on out.

Evan Rosier was proud, in almost every sense of the word. He was haughty. He was good with words, as well, and he didn’t like people forgetting that. It’s why he found a weird sense of companionship with a certain Dahey Ryan. Between the two of them, any kind of conversation could easily turn into a debate, and there was an adrenaline that flowed through Evan in those moments. One that felt different than when he was pouring over potions recipes and dark arts materials. 

It was something he could flaunt without fear of prosecution for the other side, and it was something he would take advantage of whenever he could. “Ryan, you’ve gotta be fucking kidding me,” he began, looking at the other in confusion and a bit of annoyance. “There’s no bloody way that is even remotely possible.”

BIOGRAPHY:

Though the boys were identical, they couldn’t have been any different. Davin was everything Dahey hated; soft, emotional, artsy, all that stuff. Dahey valued his studies and put that above everything else. Excelled in maths and sciences. Loves both but his guilty pleasure is space.

The University of London wasn’t his first choice. It wasn’t his fifth but it’s a hard business to get into and at such a “young age” so he took the best offer. Eyes still set on working someplace more prestigious. Having accepted the bid weeks ago, Dahey’s been in the process of moving a little closer to work, though he did debate traveling because living in London sounds like a nightmare. Things are starting to feel like they’re calming though. He’s still focused on the great goals but this is the first time in his life he won’t have to hustle and grind and he might be a little ready to let his hair down.

With all that had happened lately, Dahey’s life was a bit of mess. He’d done his tour looking for advice and openly emoting. The advice was sparse, the emoting was too much, but now things were as back to normal as they were going to get. The things with Remus were still too much to face, Dahey was going to ignore that problem for as long as he could. Preferably until he graduated. What shouldn’t be ignored, though, was Gilderoy. 

For a while, Dahey thought he could. He was as mad at Gilderoy as he was at Remus. Both of them were people he considered friends and were okay with hurting him. But they both taught him a valuable lesson about friendship. Namely, it shouldn’t happen. Making friends? Forming bonds? That wasn’t what he was at Hogwarts for. This was his education and he was letting people get in the way of his plans for greatness. 

Time, however, allowed Dahey to see things a little clearer. It always does. He realized a miscommunication between him and Gilderoy was a far cry from someone purposely trying to hurt him in all the worst ways possible. Gilderoy wasn’t the enemy here. Well, Dahey wanted him to be but in that fun way again. Though, was it really fun? He had too much to work out and no amount of getting his hair braided and complaining about how disgusting it was to kiss Gilderoy was really going to help with this. Some more time allowed him to find the solution, though he didn’t like it. He’d have to talk to Gilderoy. Who had, thankfully, been incredibly respectful and kept his distance. Dahey had asked for them to take a break on everything and Gilderoy did that. Still, he didn’t want to face him. For a number of reasons but the top of that list was controlling his own emotions. Dahey had been a wreck. He’d also been far too keen on letting others talk about themselves so he didn’t have to talk about what he was feeling. That couldn’t happen here. 

A strange solution, that took a few drafts to get right, was a letter. Dahey would just write everything down and send it to him. From his favorite place up on the astronomy tower, Dahey re-read the letter to make sure it was still what he wanted to send (and grammatically correct) before sending it off. 

Gilderoy, 

     I’m writing you to discuss recent events and, perhaps, how things should proceed going forward. Though I’ve not found a solution that best suits me and my school career, I have realized that it may be best to invite you into the conversation.  

    If I’m being truthful there is a part of me that doesn’t want to concern myself with your input. You were counted among my favorite in the castle and while some of the burden lies with me for not being willing to say that, it’s apparent that wasn’t reciprocated. I was under the impression we had an understanding. I never wished you any harm or ill, simply wanting you to be the best version of yourself as I assumed you were doing for me. Reality came at the worst time but I’m thankful it arrived. 

     Well, I’m not presently but I will find my way there.

     That being said, a true rivalry is something I’m open to. However, it will not be like it was. That ship has sailed regardless the outcome of this correspondence. It will never return to what it was. Should I start participating in this with the intention of being mean, I do worry about your ability to handle it. Up to now, my intention was to annoy. Never coming close to mean and, if I’m remembering correctly, you thought I had. Therefore, I believe it only fair to warn you, it would get worse. 

     Should you be willing to take on that challenge, I applaud you, and welcome your response at your earliest convenience.

               Tinkerbell from Peter Pan

A minor character who has become a mascot for the brand on par with the mouse itself??? If that doesn’t say Dahey Ryan, I don’t know what does. One day he’ll be better than that mouse. Tinkerbell is jealous, in love with herself, willing to resort to murder when things don’t go her way. She’s dramatic and pouts often, only willing to help when it benefits her, and the list goes on.
