"How's your day been baby?" His low voice is barely loud enough to be heard over what chaos must be behind him, but it's still loud enough to be heard, and scoffed at.

"My day? I'm a full time uni student Neeks, how is your day going mister hockey player?"

"Student or not I want to hear about your day- shut up Jack - and I won't be telling you about my day until you've told me all about yours."

"It's really not all that interesting-"

"Schatz."

"Fine, fine," Now Daya and Penny are laughing, hearing how I've just given in. "I worked this morning in the microbiology laboratory on my research, went to a few classes, and now Daya, Pen, and I are studying at the cafe a little bit down the road from your apartment."

"See, now was that so hard?" I can hear his grin in his tone, how the corners of his eyes crinkle when he smiles. "Johnny was just saying that you'll have to explain your research to him the next time he sees you. Mr.Harvard would like to attempt to understand what your brain thinks like."

I can't help the laugh that escapes me. Every time I mention my degree or my research, John is thrown in to translate the science to hockey terms for the rest of the team. Neeks has done well with learning a lot of the basic information, but the rest of the team knows aseptic technique in comparison to the goalie, "keeping out the pucks that are contamination".

"I'd love that," Is what my response finally lands on, Pen tapping my shoulder.

"I'm going to get a muffin, do you want one?"

"Cinnamon sugar, please and thank you!"

She nods and is off, Neek's voice meeting my ear. "I'm glad they're taking care of you."

"And who's taking care of you? How's practice?"

"Good, boys are looking in good shape tonight, but it's against the Rangers so you never know."

"Will you be staying in New York overnight or will you boys be driving back?"

"Driving back after the post-game interviews," He answers, confirming my assumption. He prefers his own bed to anywhere else. "Will you be going back to my place or to yours after your study session?"

"That's up to you, if you want space to yourself or -"

"So I'll see you at mine?" He interrupts the rest of the thought. "Your snacks are in the cabinet, and you can watch the game on the TV," He continues, like it really would take any convincing. "You know, if you want to."

"I'll be sitting there, watching it while I write my paper, promise."

"I'll let you get back to your study session with the girls, say hi for me," He returns, and once again I can sense his smile. "And text me when you get home, yeah?"

"Of course, Neeks. Be safe, play strong." I love you.

"Always for you, Schatz."

THE A-TEAM: These decks have all been around for a while, and have all seen their fair share of wins.

-Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain. Artifact storm, and probably the closest I’ll ever come to cedh. WARNING: my Mana Crypt is in here!

Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. OHKO tribal. Seeks to blast people wide open with either Embercleave, Kaya’s Onslaught, or Uncaged Fury.

-Bruna, Light of Alabaster. Voltron that can either play nice and fetch Eldrazi Conscription, or not, and grab Spectra Ward.

-Sigarda, Heron’s Grace. Human tokens tribal, and the rightful recipient of my only Doubling Season.

-Admiral Beckett Brass. Pirate tribal. Taking commanders and wincons is fun. WARNING: somewhat unfun to play against!

-Gishath, Sun’s Avatar. Dino tribal.

-Hallar, the Firefletcher. Kicker tribal.

-Syr Gwyn of Ashvale. Knights and equipments and equip 0 Colossal Hammers.

-Nikya of the Old Ways. A creatures-only deck that probably has more interaction than most of my other decks!

-Atemsis, All Seeing. Azor’s Gateway / Twiddlestorm / Untap shenanigans. WARNING: somewhat unfun to play against!

-Gnostro, Voice of the Crags. Flicker tribal with a non-Narset commander so as to not draw too much heat.

-Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty. Cascade / big spells / Simic is broken change my mind / tribal

-Aragon, Roar of the World. Cat tribal, and my first-ever Commander deck!

THE B-TEAM: My decks with fairly good performance across their games, independent of wins and losses

-Halana, Kessig Trapper and Alena, Kessig Ranger (Partner). Big bodies / EtB tribal.

-Khorvath Brightflame and Sylvia Brightspear (Partner). Knights and dragons tribal.

-Virtus, the Veiled and Gorm, the Great (Partner). Quietus Spike / force block shenanigans. WARNING: somewhat unfun to play against!

-Linvala, Shield of Sea Gate. Azorius party aggro.

-Zagras, Thief of Heartbeats. Phantom Rakdos party control.

-Tazri, Beacon of Unity. 5C party +1/+1 counters.

-Kazarov, Senior Pureblood. “I can’t play against Krenko anymore today” Pyroclasm tribal.

-Liesa, Shroud of Dusk. Angel and demon tribal (NOTE: no synergy there, I just wanted to stick to the flavor of “alliance with a demon lord”)

-Orah, Skyclave Hierophant. Clerics tribal that always tries for an Angel of Destiny win before it (always) defers back to aristocrats.

-Bruna, the Fading Light. Angel tribal that tries to meld Brisela every game.

-Anafenza, the Foremost. +1/+1 counters tribal, and the deck that made me realize Outlast really should’ve been instant-speed.

-Samut, Voice of Dissent. Exert tribal with vigilance, untap, and extra combats.

-Juri, Master of the Revue. Sacrifice tribal, with a burn subtheme.

-Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas. Big tribal, and the deck that made me realize Experience counters were busted. Run Suncleanser, people!

-Quintorius, Field Historian. Reanimate and blow up your graveyard. Also, Purify the Grave is hilarious!

-Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire. Chaos warp tribal, and a Primal Surge deck that doesn’t have Primal Surge because that card is extremely boring.

-Ishkanah, Grafwidow. Spider tribal that seeks to make opponents forget about Ishkanah’s activated ability until it’s too late.

-Omnath, Locus of the Roil. Landfall and elementals.

-Savra, Queen of the Golgari. Grave Pact tribal. WARNING: somewhat unfun to play against!

-Feather, the Redeemed. Haha, combat tricks go brrrrrr!

-Adeliz, the Cinder Wind. Wizards spellslinger aggro. Also one of the few decks of mine that actually uses cantrips!

-Aryel, Knight of Windgrace. Knights tribal with a removal/control subtheme.

-Aurelia, Exemplar of Justice. Mentor + Double Strike tribal. I only built this deck because I pulled a borderless Outlaws’ Merriment, ok?

-Araumi of the Dead Tide. Self mill encore, and the deck that made me appreciate the singleton rule in Commander.

-Kaza, Roil Chaser. Big spells. BIG! I mean, Electrodominance for 10, into a Karn’s Temporal Sundering, big!

THE C-TEAM: My decks that just don’t cut it at a lot of pods, sometimes even against those at appropriate power levels. That being said, however, these tend to be my more storied decks, that I still enjoy playing.

-Syr Alin, the Lion’s Claw. Mono-White go wide, with commons and uncommons only. Part of my cycle of Eldraine uncommon legendary knight decks, 1/5.

-Syr Elenora, the Discerning. Mono-Blue Voltron + draw power, with commons and uncommons only, 2/5.

-Syr Konrad, the Grim. Mono-Black aristocrats...kind of...? It’s complicated, but with commons and uncommons only, 3/5.

-Syr Carah, the Bold. Mono-Red storm, with rares and mythics for Underworld Breach and Past in Flames, because I feel like storm needs those, 4/5.

-Syr Faren, the Hengehammer. Mono-Green infect, with rares and mythics for Phyrexian Swarmlord, because I really wanted a deck that could run that, 5/5.

-Jodah, Archmage Eternal. Avengers Assemble! legendary tribal. I had a lot of bulk legends at the time, and wanted to make something of them!

-Abomination of Llanowar. Literal elf ball. Built in response to my irritation at someone’s Lathril, Blade of the Elves deck.

-Licia, Sanguine Tribute. Lifegain is good, I swear, built in response to my disbelief at the $200 price tag on a store-built Licia deck. Mine costs maybe $100, if you count the sleeves and box?

-Thalisse, Reverent Medium. Tokens tribal that breaks Anointed Procession even further, which made me wonder why green gets all the token doublers *cough*adrixandnev*cough*

-Hamza, Guardian of Arashin. +1/+1 counters, with commons and uncommons only, built because someone at my store wanted to play commons and uncommons only with an uncommon Commander. Thanks for getting me into Artisan Commander, Will!

-Siona, Captain of the Pyleas. Enchantress, with a tokens subtheme. Built because I and a friend both commented that she looked like Wonder Woman.

-Mina and Denn, Wildborn (NOT Partner). Landfall aggro, with all the creatures that pump on landfall.

-Ghired, Conclave Exile. Populate and tokens. Built because I was bored one Saturday and saw I had an extra set of sleeves.

-Obuun, Mul Daya Ancestor. Landfall tribal, (again? Sheesh!) built the same lazy Saturday as Ghired, above.

-Armix, Filigree Familiar and Eligeth, Crossroads Augur (YES Partner). Artifact tribal, with a super janky 4-piece Marionette Master loop wincon! Built because Eligeth turns Preordain into “Draw 2 cards, then draw a card.”

-Akiri, Fearless Voyager. Equipment tribal, with an asymmetrical boardwipe subtheme. Built because I pulled an Akiri from a pack, and someone said “ooh, sorry,” from over my shoulder.

-Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch. Unleash counters tribal. Built because I found a Chaos Imps in my bulk!

——

THE MEME-TEAM: These decks...are. Yeah, they are. Not necessarily good or bad. Just...are.

-Kenrith, the Returned King. The game plan is “Get to Trostani’s Summoner, and either flicker it or make a bajillion copies of it.” One day, I found a card named Trostani’s Summoner, and it was love at first sight! My Demonic Tutor went in here!

-Phylath, World Sculptor. Landfall tribal...with 99 basic land cards.

-Rograkh, Son of Rogahh and Keleth, Sunmane Familiar. (Partner) Kill one guy and die tribal.

-Etrata the Silencer. The “I wanted a non-Koma Mirror Gallery deck” deck. Also with a guest appearance from flicker!

-Lazav, Dimir Mastermind. Literally just “Oops! All Control!” Draw, counter, and remove. WARNING: don’t play against this.

-Ravos, Soultender and Livio, Oathsworn Sentinel. (Partner) War of attrition, etb and control. WARNING: don’t play against this. It has like 15 boardwipes!

-Valki, God of Lies / Tibalt, Cosmic Imposter. (NOT Partner) “I want to piss off the table” tribal. It mills your opponents, it plays their stuff, and it removes the stuff it doesn’t play. WARNING: don’t play against this. It runs Jokulhaups, Obliterate, and Decree of Annihilation!

-Svella, Ice Shaper. Colossal Dreadmaw tribal, as in, anything that’s roughly 6/6 makes the cut! It’s actually won games!

-Brion Stoutarm. Hijack and fling tribal. “You know, I’ve never had an Eldrazi titan before. Can I borrow it? Well, see, I wasn’t exactly...asking...?”

-Grumgully, the Generous. Non-human “uno mas” tribal. Tries to run all the counters cards like Renata and the Rhythm of the Wild.

-Subira, Tuzuldi Caravaneer. Small tribal. Just think “mono-r blitz in Commander,” and you’ll get the gist.

-Neheb, the Worthy. Minotaurs and discard tribal. Not as oppressive as Tinybones, or as explosive as Nath, and that’s a good thing. Trust me.

THE ALL-RAVNICAN REJECTS: These decks are... *sniff* no longer with us. They were broken down for pieces, for sleeves, or because I slept through each time I played them.

-Najeela, the Blade Blossom. Boring warriors extra combat steps. Broken because I wanted her tri-lands, and I wanted some of her warriors for my party decks.

-Golos, Tireless Pilgrim. Maze’s End lands. Golos is broken and we all know it. Broken for sleeves, and because my first land tutor was always Field of the Dead because of the incoming hate, and not Maze’s End, and I wasn’t happy with that.

-Arcades, the Strategist. Walls. As it turns out, not a lot of decks can contest 3-mana 8/8’s. And against those that could, the deck was put in the ground extremely quickly. Broken because it just wasn’t fun to play.

THE DRAWING BOARD: These decks are in the works. Will they see the light of day, and the protection of sleeves? Well, we’ll see, will we not?

-Borborygmos. Go wide and SMASH! My first attempt at a pile of cards; I’m trying for a goblins/saproling hybrid tribal, because both make lots of tokens, but we’ll see how well that translates into actual play.

-Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer. Thopters and artificers and myr, oh my! All joking aside, I just wanted a deck that wants to run cards with Fabricate, because I thought it was a really cool mechanic!

-Garna, the Bloodflame. Reanimator/sacrifice, AKA corpse carousel. It’s a revolving door between the graveyard and the battlefield, yknow, and most of my store’s meta does not run graveyard hate.

“Okay! So all we’re doing today is the makeout scene, sound good?”

You and Angus nodded, both sitting on the poster bed with cameras surrounding you.

“What did I do?” He muttered to you for the tenth time that afternoon, and just like the other nine times, you didn't respond. Just hours before, Z had properly informed you of Angus’s secret girlfriend, someone he clearly had a thing with-but made sure to tell you nothing of.

THAT MORNING...

“Z!” You rushed over to her, your eyes wide as Storm came up beside you two.

“You have to film in an hour don’t you?” Zendaya questioned, quickly pulling out her phone. You nodded giving Storm a quick smile.

“Yeah, and you already know what I have to film-”

“Mmmmm right, you gotta make out with Angus, trust me we know. Everybodys talking about it, they won’t let us on set to watch y’all though, we tried.”

“I can’t stand you two,” You laughed shaking your head “Anyway, you know why I’m here. What you find out about Angus? That you texted me about last night? And make it quick, I gotta go to hair and makeup in a bit.”

“I’m debating if we should tell you before or after you film your scenes…”

“You basically already told her Ms. Blabbermouth, so just tell her the full thing.” Storm said to Z with a shrug.

“I am not a blabbermouth! I think its just right that she knows!”

“Then tell me Daya, come on!”

“Okay, okay. So my social media is set up so that when someone is following me I can see who follows them that I also follow without even clicking on- this doesn’t make sense, anyway! This girl followed me and the only person following her that I also follow was Angus. I didn’t think much of it, shes public so I wanted to check out her pictures cuz I was bored. She doesn’t have that many followers, but this girl is hot. Like I’m not even gay and she’s fine as hell, that’s why I was going through her pictures because she was just so gorg-”

“She’s pretty, I get it, can we move on?”

“Oh- Sorry. So yeah, I’m scrolling and I get to this picture of her on some man’s lap right? You cant see his face or anything, and there’s no tag. This was posted last month by the way. So there’s no tag or caption, but guess who commented?!”

“Wild guess, Angus?”

“Exactly! And guess what he said?”

“I don’t have time or patience for guessing right now-”

“He commented- and I quote, ‘Baby I miss you, sit on my lap again�� with those nasty thirst trap emojis! So I’m like wait a minute! And I’m going through her pictures now for a whole other reason. I find out they been dating since 2017 and she has a million pictures with him on her page all booed up but get a load of this- she literally never tags him. She always tags this other guy named Steve.”

You let out a huff and crossed your arms. “That’s fucked up. Real fucked up.”

“Yeah, I kn-”

“But I am not going to let it affect me today. I have to make out with him either way for our scene, so being petty isn’t necessary. I’m going to go on that damn set, and I won’t say a single word to him unless it’s on the fucking script!”

NOW...

“And...action!”

Angus let out a long sigh before jumping into the scene for the seventh time. You could tell it was bothering him why you were suddenly giving him the cold shoulder due to it affecting his performance as being Fez. You wanted to feel bad, but who just decides it’s cute to lead practical double lives? You tried to move the topic out of your mind so you wouldn't feel completely livid again and focused on the scene in front of you.

“Don’t do that girl, you got me fucked up.”

“Don’t do what? This?” You bit your lip and moved closer to him.

“You just tryna get some today ain't you?”

“I've been trying to get some since when I came back last week, Fez. But I’m glad you finally decided to notice.”

“Lemme gives you some then, come ‘ere.”

You got onto his lap wrapping your legs around his waist, just like you had the night before. You looked into his eyes and you felt your heart melt, and at this point, you didn't know if you were in character or if this was just you.

But then you remembered you were most likely the side chick.

Your facial expression hardened a bit, not enough for the cameras to pick it up, but you knew Angus noticed. Before he could ask you what was wrong or what he did for the eleventh time and ruin the scene, you pressed your lips to his and kissed him deep.

“Fuck baby...” he groaned into your mouth, his hands working their way up and under your shirt to cup your breasts. Once his large hands reached them, he gave them a nice squeeze causing your breath to hitch as you bounced a little.

Yeah, sure you were mad at him right now...but you loved that shit.

You grinned a bit wrapping your arms around his neck and pushing him down onto the bed. “You want me Fez?” You moaned out in a breathy tone, pulling your shirt over your head.

“Fuck yeah I want you girl, take this shit off for me.”

As you slowly unclipped your bra, you specifically remembered that at this point in the script he was to say ‘Jess’, not girl. But of course, the one-time {yesterday} you wanted him to say girl he had to say Jes-

Your thoughts were quickly interrupted by a sudden “Cut!” from the crew. Letting out a breath you got off of Angus’s lap and clipped your bra. “Good stuff guys, we need Daya and Hunter next so if you see ‘em remind them its time for their scenes in about thirty minutes.”

You nodded putting your shirt back on, and trying to rush off of the set before Angus could catch up to you- but you failed.

“Aye,” he said walking by you “What's good?”

You shrugged. “I don’t really know what's good.”

“Why you acting like this, all different and shit. It’s on god starting to weird me out, what's the dealio wit’ you?”

“Just fuck off.”

Angus raised a brow and stopped walking. Thinking you finally had gotten him to leave you alone, you slowly walked to your trailer but ran into Jacob on the way.

“Hey!” You said softly. You hadn't exchanged many words with him over the time you'd been filming, but every time you had, he had been sweet and polite. The run down with Jacob was that he was talented and cute...that's about all you knew.

The conversation between you and Jacob was brief but pure. He asked you some questions about filming and you told him about how much you loved his performance in the show. Soon enough he reached his trailer and you two parted ways, leaving you alone as you walked to yours.

You stayed more focused on your phone that your surroundings, leading to you not realizing that Angus wasn't far behind you. As soon as you stopped walking and leaned against the side of your trailer, you felt someone in front of you. Looking up from your phone your eyes widened, why the fuck was he still here?

“Angus what the fu-”

“So you think you can talk to me like that?”

Suddenly feeling shy, your voice and confidence lowered. “I was playing...”

“And you think you can just flirt with anybody and everybody?”

“What are you-”

“Imma tells you something, so imma need you to listen to me real clear.”

You swallowed and nodded, looking up at him.

“Ion think you know this yet so imma let you know.” He placed his thumb on your cheek. “You mine, got it? Not Jacobs, not anybody fucking elses, mine.”

You almost couldn't believe the words you were hearin-

“Uh, Y/N, you good?” Jacob asked you. Quickly snapping out of it you nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine thanks.” What a hell of an imagination you had. You took a quick glance behind you and saw no one at all. Letting out a sigh you said goodbye to Jacob and walked into your trailer. As soon as you closed the door you heard a ding that was specially set for your male costar.

Episode 4: Won’t You Take Me Home

Nang makapasok si Yonghwa sa videoke room, hindi niya alam kung matatakot ba siya, magagalit, o matatawa sa nakita. Sobrang wasted na nina Chanyeol at Sehun. Pareho itong nakatingin sa cellphone na parang nagse-selfie.

“Huy, ano ‘yang ginagawa n’yo?” sita niya sa mga ito.

“Oooh, ‘eto nga pala ‘yung cool na cool naming boss… hehehe,” sabi ni Chanyeol sabay akbay sa kanya.

“’Yung boss naming ipaglalaban ka hanggang sa huli!” sabi naman ni Sehun. “Kaya girls, do’n kayo sa lalaking ipaglalaban kayo, ha?”

Naka-live pala sa SNS ang mga animal. Hinablot niya ang phone na hawak ni Sehun. “Boss, sali ka sa amin. Ang daya mo napaka-KJ mo! Ni hindi kita nakitang uminom.”

“Hindi ako umiinom,” sabi na lang niya. Inilibot niya ang paningin. Sa isang sulok ay nakita niya sina Doyoung at Pat na magkatabi. Masyadong malapit si Doyoung dito pero visible naman ang mga kamay nito. Good boy. Sa kabilang side nito ay nakaupo ang parang natutulog nang si Kyungsoo. Sa kabilang tabi naman ni Pat ay nakaupo si Beth, nilalagok ang isang bote ng beer.

Nilapitan niya si Beth at tinabihan. “Mukhang nakarami ka na ah,” sabi niya nang makita ang mahigit limang empty beer bottles na nasa harap nito.

Tumawa ito nang bahagya. “Wednesday pa lang, pero pang-Friday na ang stress ko. Galit ka pa rin ba sa’kin? Kasi pinabayaan ko si Pat sa call niya?”

Natawa siya sa narinig. “Hindi naman ako nagalit.”

“Eh bakit hindi ka ngumingiti kanina?” Kumuha pa ito ng isang bote pero inagaw na niya.

“Tama na ‘yan. May pasok pa mamaya,” halos pabulong na sabi niya.

“Pat, are you sure you can go home by yourself?” dinig naman niyang tanong ni Doyoung.

“Oy, ahente ko ‘yan. Umayos ka,” sita niya dito.

“I know boss, worried lang ako kasi baka makatulog siya sa sasakyan,” sabi ni Doyoung.

“Safe naman ang Grab ‘di ba?”

“Hahayaan mo ba siya na mag-Grab nang ganyan?”

Well, of course not. Siya na mismo ang kumausap kay Pat. “Ayos ka lang ba, Pat?”

“Yes, boss. I’m just too sleepy. Sa retiring area sa office, pwede ba ako matulog?” tanong nito. Antok na antok na talaga siya.

Nagkatinginan sila ni Doyoung. “Baka hindi siya papasukin boss, kasi nakainom siya. Maaamoy ng guard.”

“O ano nang plano?” tanong naman ni Kim na kakapasok lang. Sinalubong naman ito nina Chanyeol at Sehun.

“Kiiiim, isang lagok lang,” sabi ni Chanyeol na tumatawa. Vini-video sila ni Sehun na sumigaw. “Sabihin mo, para sa bayan!”

“Ewan ko sa inyo magsiuwi na kayo,” tumatawang sabi ni Kim na hinawi ang cellphone ni Sehun.

“Pwede mo bang samahan sa retiring room sa office itong si Pat?” tanong niya kay Kim.

“Papapasukin ba kami? Eh nakainom siya.”

“Panguyain mo muna ng Dentine. Ako naman ang bahala sa mga tao dito,” sabi naman niya. Doon lang niya napansin si Ah-in na siya namang pinagti-tripan nu’ng dalawang lasing.

Tumayo na si Pat, kasunod si Kim. Si Doyoung naman ay sumunod na rin na siyang may bitbit ng bag ni Pat.

“Ingatan mo ‘yang ahente ko, ah. Sa ‘kin ka sasagot kapag may nangyari diyan,” bulong niya kay Doyoung bago pa ito makaalis.

“Boss, ikaw naman ang uminom!” sabi ni Sehun at binigyan siya nito ng boteng kakabukas lang.

“Hindi nga ako umiinom,” sabi lang niya.

Pero inagaw ni Beth ang bote. “Ako na lang ang iinom, pabebe ka!” Wala naman siyang nagawa kundi ang panoorin ito habang tinutungga ang boteng inagaw. Bottoms up.

“Woohoo! Panalo ka talaga Beth!” sigaw ni Chanyeol.

“’Di pa ba tayo uuwi?” tanong ni Kyungsoo na para namang naalimpungatan.

“Uuwi na brad, ikaw na lang ang hinihintay naming na magising,” tumatawang sagot ni Sehun dito.

“Tara na, tama na ‘yan. Magsiuwi na tayo.” Si Ah-in na ang nagyaya. Kyungsoo finally stood up and straightened his clothes. Dinampot naman si Sehun ang bag ni Beth.

“Beth, tara uwi na tayo,” bulong nito. Tumayo naman kaagad si Beth, Sehun’s arm smoothly snaked around her waist.

“Gusto ko ng kape. Igawa mo ko ng kape sa bahay, please?”

“Kape eh kapag nagbe-brew ako, tinutulugan mo lang naman.”

Ganu’n lang ‘yon? Sehun was just clowning around earlier pero parang ang ayos niyang tao ngayon that Beth is in his arms???

“Saan uuwi ‘yan si Beth?” tanong niya kay Sehun.

“Sa bahay,” sagot naman nito. 

Wait, what? Sa bahay, meaning, sa bahay niya?

Tumigil ito sandali. “Bakit, gusto mo ba boss, ikaw mag-uwi sa kanya?”

Uminit ang pakiramdam niya sa mukha. “Of course not! I mean, I just want to make sure…”

Pero binitawan ni Sehun si Beth na hindi makatayo ng diretso. “Diyan ang bahay namin sa kabilang building. Sixteenth floor, unit D,” sabi nitong nakangiti na parang nakakaloko.

Inalalayan naman niya kaagad si Beth. “Kaya mo bang maglakad?”

“Eh, anong gagawin mo kung hindi?”

Sinubukan niyang hawakan ito, kagaya nang pagkakahawak ni Sehun dito kanina. He snaked one arm around her waist. Pero hindi nito kayang makababa ng hagdan. At one point, muntik pa silang mahulog. Napalunok na lang siya, at wala nang iba pang nagawa kundi ang buhatin si Beth.

“Ahh, the oh so talented, ever powerful, most wanted guy on the floor, Mr. Yonghwa Jung is giving me a piggyback ride right now,” sabi ni Beth nang finally ay makalabas na sila sa vicinity ng Pork Barrell. “I should boast about this tomorrow sa operations floor. Break every girl’s heart.” Humagikgik pa ito.

“Hold on tight, baka mabitawan kita.”

“Alam mo, okay ka naman. You’re a nice guy.”

“Yes, people say that. But I don’t know why you’re not nice to me,” pabirong sabi niya.

“Alam mo kasi, I made a deal with myself. I have to hate you or else I’ll hate myself. For not having what you have.”

Wow, big reveal iyon, ah. Noon pa naman, feeling niya talaga may bitterness si Beth nu’ng malaman nilang siya ang nakakuha ng lead post at hindi ito. Pero hindi naman niya alam na aabot sa ganito ang bitterness na iyon. To the point of hating him. Kaya nga as much as as he can, pinipilit niyang maging extra nice dito.

But does she really hate him?

“Masaya ka ba, being a team lead? Anong feeling na agent mo ‘ko? ‘Yung dati mong kaagaw sa post na no sweat mo naman nakuha?”

Napalunok siya. Beth is really drunk. “Awkward nu’ng una. But of course we have to deal with it.”

“Yeah, awkward nga,” halos pabulong at parang inaantok na sabi nito. “Eh pa’no kaya kung magkagusto pa ako sa’yo, ‘no? Mas awkward ‘yon,” sabi nito sabay tawa.

Ganito ba talaga malasing ‘tong babaeng ‘to, kung anu-ano sinasabi?

Sinakyan naman niya. “Eh paano si Sehun? Kung magkakagusto ka sa akin?”

He heard her smirk. “Okay lang ‘yun kay Sehun. I mean, open naman kami sa mga ganu’ng bagay.”

What? What does she mean “open” sila? Are they in an open relationship?

Narating nila ang sixteenth floor ng building. True to his word, nasa likod pa rin nila si Sehun. Chanyeol got off the 14th floor with Kyungsoo.

“Dito na tayo boss,” tawag ni Sehun sa corridor going to the right. Naglabas ito ng susi at binuksan ang pinto. Unit D.

“Hi Vivi!” bati ni Sehun sa asong sumalubong. “Diyan mo na lang siya ilapag sa sofa, boss.” ‘Yun lang and Sehun disappeared to probably the kitchen.

Yonghwa looked around the place. It looked like neutral—the cream carpet, the leather couches, and the cream curtains.

Lumabas si Sehun, may dalang water bottle. “Boss, tubig?”

Kinuha naman niya ang iniabot nitong bote. “Nag-brew ako ng kape, kape muna tayo? Ay, wait lang ulit,” sabi nito at nawala ulit.

So, Beth and Sehun live together???

Pagbalik ni Sehun ay may dala na itong comforter na siyang ikinumot kay Beth.

“Magkasama kayo dito?”

Parang natigilan naman si Sehun. “Uhmm, yes.”

“As in, dito kayo nakatira pareho?”

Tumango naman ito. “Yes, boss. Bakit? May spare room pa kami, gusto mo i-occupy? Kaso kung may aso ka na malaki, hindi pwede. Takot si Beth sa aso eh. Kaya kapag team building namin dati sa Washington, hindi sumasama si Beth kapag kina Jungshin. Ang laki kasi ng aso niya. Malakas ang shower dito, so kapag nagho-hot shower ka, parang nagpapa-massage ka na rin kapag tinapat mo ‘yung likod mo sa shower…”

Totoong tao ba itong nasa harap niya? Bakit ganito siya kausapin nito? Bakit sila magkasama sa bahay ni Beth? Anong meron sa kanilang dalawa? At bakit niyayaya siya nitong sumama sa kanila?

“Baka okay na ‘yung kape boss, wait lang,” paalam ni Sehun at bumalik sa kusina. Sinulyapan niya ang himbing na himbing na si Beth. Hindi ito head-turner na kagaya ni Mariani. Beth isn’t drop-dead gorgeous. Pero may kakaiba siyang charm. And also, he knows for a fact that she’s smart. Of course, magka-batch sila noon eh. Ito nga si Ms. Issue Resolver nila. Hindi naman ito magkakaroon ng maraming space sa Wall of Fame sa office nila nang wala lang. Yes, she’s been the top agent for the past how many months. Siguro nga kung hindi siya naging lead baka niligawan niya na ito.

“Boss, ‘eto na kape o.” Nakabalik na pala si Sehun.

Kinuha naman niya ang inaabot na coffee cup nito.

Oh yes, kaya pala hindi niya ito napormahan noong training days nila. Because of Sehun.

“Kailangan ko ba talagang ubusin ‘yan?” tanong ni Pat after niyang makanguya ng limang piraso ng Dentine. Nasa convenience store naman sila malapit pa rin sa Leisurely Yours.

“Last na ito, para hindi maamoy ng guard na amoy alak ka,” sabi naman ni Doyoung.

“Eh pa’no kapag nahalata pa rin siya?” tanong naman ni Kim.

“Ako nang bahala do’n. At least we tried to downplay it.”

“Inom ka rin ng tubig,” sabi ni Kim at iniabot sa kanya ang bottled water.

“Alam n’yo ba kung gaano ka-weird sa bibig ‘tong Dentine na may water? Feeling ko kahit walang sebo bibig ko nagkakaroon,” reklamo ni Pat.

“Eto, fruit juice.”

Ang sakit-sakit ng ulo niya. Tanghaling tapat na kasi, ang init ng araw. Puyat siya at nakainom pa.

Ito pala ang epekto ng sunrise beer. Midday hungover.

Makapasok kaya siya mamaya?

Kinuha niya ang iniabot na juice ni Doyoung. The citric flavor made her mouth feel refreshed.

“Samahan ka na namin sa loob, Pat,” sabi ni Kim. “Kaso, paano ang pagpasok mo later? May mga gamit ka ba sa locker?”

“Wala. I think iidlip lang ako. Then I’ll go home.  Few hours should do it. Magg-Grab naman ako pauwi.” Oh yes, need niyang sabihin ‘yon. Hindi nila pwede malaman na hindi totoong sa Bulacan siya nakatira kagaya nang sinabi niya kay Beth.

“Are you sure?” tanong ni Kim.

“Yes, I’m sure, thank you sa pagsama sa akin, naabala pa kayo. I mean, kaya ko naman.”

“Hindi ka namin pwede iwan. Pinagbilin ka sa amin ni Boss Yonghwa kaya we have to take care of you,” sabi naman ni Doyoung.

“Naku, ‘wag nga kami Doyoung. Kahit naman walang bilin si Yonghwa, gagawin mo pa rin ‘to.”

Natawa siya nang bahagya. Really, bakit ang extra nice ni Doyoung sa kanya?

Tumayo na sila at saka bumalik sa office building. Hindi niya maintindihan ang sudden surge ng butterflies in her stomach? Gutom ba siya? Or baka dahil lang talaga sa nakainom siya? Bitbit pa rin ni Doyoung ang bag niya at hindi niya alam kung kasama ba ito sa mga dahilan ng kilig na nararamdaman niya.

High school lang? Kinikilig?

Bakit hindi pwede kiligin kapag twenty-something na?

Mukhang effective ang Dentine, hindi naman siya sinita ng guard at nakapasok na sila sa office building. Nagpaalam si Doyoung na dadaan muna sa third floor habang sila ni Kim ay dumiretso sa fourth floor.

“Wala masyadong natutulog dito. Konti lang kasi ang agents na nandito sa floor na ito, compared sa taas. Saka medyo tragic ang fifth floor na retiring area eh.”

“Bakit tragic?”

“May namatay na agent. Binangungot. Hindi na nagising.” Tiningnan siya ni Kim. “Quiet ka lang, it was never confirmed nor denied, pero as one of the people sa inner circle, I can confirm.”

Shit, ano ba yan? Nakakatakot naman ‘to. Really, ngayon talaga nag-kwento si Kim?

Naka-settle na siya sa isa sa mga bunk beds nang iwan siya ni Kim, matapos masiguro nito na okay lang talaga siya. Hindi niya malaman kung paanong paghiga ang gagawin. Nawala sa isip niya na malamig ang AC sa loob. Maulan pa rin kasi kahit paano. Pabugso-bugso. Sana pala kinuha muna niya ‘yung blanket na nakita niya kanina sa floor na nasa upuan ni Beth. Pwede naman niya siguro gamitin iyon.

Pumipikit-pikit na siya nang bumukas ang pinto at may dahan-dahang pumasok. Sa bahagyang pagdilat niya ay nakita niya si Doyoung na papalapit sa kanya.

“Use this Pat, para hindi ka lamigin,” sabi nito sabay balot sa kanya ng blanket na blue na may yellow stars ang print.

“Thank you…” she said dreamily.

“Sleep well. Good night – in Eastern time.”

Nakalabas na ng building finally si Kim. Pero mas okay nang alam niya kung anong lagay ng mga kasama bago niya iwan ang mga ito. Feeling niya kasi, mas hassle ‘yung hindi siya makakatulog buong maghapon dahil iisipin niya kung okay lang ba sina Beth at Pat. Pat must be sleeping soundly and comfortably – dinalhan pa nga ng kumot iyon ni Doyoung. Nakasalubong niya kasi ito na papunta sa retiring area na may dalang blanket. Si Beth, kasama naman niya si Sehun. Kahit lasing naman kasi ‘yung si Sehun at parang tanga na, kayang kaya niyang alalayan si Beth. And also, there’s Yonghwa.

Buti pa sa sila – people are taking care of them. Though seriously, ‘di rin naman niya gustong mapunta do’n sa sitwasyon kung saan kailangan niyang kalingain din siya. And besides, kayang kaya naman niya ang sarili niya.

“So, okay na ba ang mga friends mo?”

Napalingon siya at nakitang nakatayo si Ah-in malapit sa entrance ng office building.

“Uy, bakit nandito ka pa?” tanong niya.

“Sinamahan ko sina Chanyeol at Sehun sa pag-uwi. I thought they were a handful for Yonghwa.”

“Ah…” Hala, bakit biglang wala siyang masabi?

“Pauwi ka na?”

“Ah, okay naman si Pat. Iidlip lang daw siya pero uuwi din mamaya.”

Natawa naman ito. “Bakit ka natatawa?”

“Ang layo kasi ng sagot mo sa tanong ko. I’m asking you kung pauwi ka na?”

“Ah,” nasabi na lang niya sabay tawa. “Oo, pauwi na ko.”

“Sabay na tayo,” offer nito.

“Diyan lang ako sa ikalimang kanto. Saan ka ba?”

“Sa ibang condo subdivision.”

“Ha, eh pa’no tayo magsasabay?”

“Sabay maglakad. Pwede naman iyon ‘di ba?”

Bakit ganu’n? Napaka-imposing nito pero bakit parang okay lang? Dahil ba bagay sa kanya? Para siyang si Yonghwa, may authority magsalita.

“Sayang, wala si JC kanina,” biglang sabi nito.

At bakit naman nito biglang sinasabi si JC? “Kilala mo rin si JC?”

“Yes, magkakilala kami.”

“Ah talaga? Paano?”

“Uhmm, sabihin na nating I’ve been here and there. I’ve met and I know a lot of people.”

Wow, totoo ba? “Wow, so si Mr. Congeniality ka pala.”

He chuckled. “You can say that siguro. Anyway, I had a great time today. Kelan nga pala tayo magkikita ulit?”

“Huh?” Gusto niya kaming magkita ulit? Bakit?

“The story writing, remember? You said you’d help me.”

Ay, oo nga pala. “Ah, iyon. Kahit kailan naman pwede, basta weekend.”

Tumango-tango ito. “Sige, I’ll just come over to your office to confirm kung anong weekend tayo magkikita.”

“Sige,” sabi na lang niya.

“Bye, Kim.”

“Bye.”

Nang nakaalis na ito, saka lang sumagi sa isip niya – bakit hindi na lang nito kinuha ang contact details niya? Para hindi na ito pupunta ng office. Ang weird naman nu’n?
