We see from failing the duel with Orin that Bhaal can bring Durge back if he so desires. That kind of fits with Durge also a being Deathstalker, pre-amnesia, and in at least one write up that means they have the ability to repeatedly come back to life after death the same way their god loves to do. Bhaal can still leave them dead on the floor if he chooses, but Durge is still basically unkillable if he wants them to be (and as the mortal child of a god they are/were also a quasi-deity, thus they shouldn't age or die of ageing).

So I wonder if Ketheric ever considered using Durge as a backup immortality battery in case somehow things went wrong and Aylin wasn't viable anymore? I don't think Bhaal would bother keeping them alive if they ended up in that situation, but it's an interesting scenario to consider.
