unrelated to anything i just spent too much time reading strangers' posts on the for you page. when people complain about other people's depiction of a certain trigger... how do you know other people haven't gone through it. if it makes you uncomfortable it's one thing, block and move on? but. why would your opinion on it be better than anyone else's, considering they might be victims as well. and by asserting they don't have the lived experience to justify their writing/expertise, aren't you forcing them to come out. isn't that much worse and harmful than a wrong starter on a dumblr blog
#vague /#i guess. i couldnt even tell u who made the post im mentioning i refreshed the fy and it disappeared#i read a. very long call out post#(on it the person was defending themselves and had to come out abt their parents abuse and that was lowkey heartbreaking)#i hate that people have to openly admit to abuse just to justify writing choices#and so thats my question: u might think someone is portraying smth the wrong way#but what makes your opinion superior?#cause the other person doesnt owe u their living experience#and its been a recurring discussion around ao3 as of late#bc people barged into fandom spaces without being aware that.#things can get veryyyy weird very fast and triggering shit are being written on the daily#and on one hand im like. people should get to experiment and try writing as much shit as possible#and theyre bound to make mistakes and thats okay#calm discussions can happen#but on the other hand people are so bad at taking advice and genuine worry#and others are very quick to jump on the “this person is bad let's send them hate and harass them” instead of just. moving on#anyway idk where im going with this but#i dislike the “we should ban x or y bc its bad” but i also dislike x and y being badly written#does any of it make sense and can u defend both........ mh
