I have a Delilah Noir !
I was looking for gunky bundles and found a damaged 'bjd' instead. She was a mess.
So I have two projects for the weeks ahead :
Celia the BJD: sculpting in Milliput for neck and hips then sanding and testing wig ideas.
Delilah Noir: acetone goop repair for the ankle, making a head cap, removing the pink overpaint from the lips, possibly filling the mouth slightly with coats of black + acrylic matte. Delilah probably won't be staying, she's a fun project but I'd want to modify her significantly.
photos under cut:

Celia's wiring. I'm not touching the eye makeup until the last minute, it gives her a cheekiness that demands attention - I will get around to doing the work!

Delilah looked like she'd been splashed with coffee. Her wig was glued to the front and back of her head (no head cap) with non water-soluble (or alcohol for that matter) glue so I gently pried it off and soaked it before removing the glue with my finger nails strand by strand from the wig (acetone for the head).

Her putty was both hard and turning into dust while also oily and pretending to be soft which is a very odd textural sensation... and had cracked one of the eyes a little. I removed the eyelash and replaced it with acrylic matte sealant for glue (dries clear, no clumps, water-soluble) as well as repainting the chipped lower lash lines.
She had stains on her upper eyes at the nose bridge, the eyeliner doesn't quite fit the eye with pink parts showing - the lipstick also doesn't quite match the lip sculpt. It's taking me a while to remove the pink, I'm thinking it's maybe enamel paint

Please excuse the green putty - since fixed it. There's potential in that face, I like the heavy lidded teen goth y2k look but it's missing something beyond my skillsets.

Here's a project i've been looking forward to for a long time: Dollmore Kidult Celia!
Restringing went well, I used the thinner elastic @maleficentmrsofallevil sent with this beauty. I made a neck 'donut' to bring her head up and back - to better suit the body last year - it cracked at first, then after re-glue-ing and changing tension, held up well. The smoother collarbones also make her look less tensed up. She still needs tidying with the rotary tool which means waiting for the right time when I have the energy AND it's work hours as I live in a thin walled building.
The torso and arms are well engineered, the torso clicks into place, the arms hold poses well - it's the head that seemed like they scaled down a system for a bigger doll or a child doll.
Then there are her hip joints: the pelvis cuts into the upper thigh so she can't sit: classic fashion doll problem usually solved by grinding it down a little,
but this gal can't stand either: not enough in the behind to rest on the back of the legs. No matter the tension, there is nothing in the hip joints or ankle joints to hold her legs at the proper angle or even keep them straight. Putty under the feet and in back is doing heavy lifting in the last photo =p
I've been trying different putty placements, I think I'm going to add Milliput to the inside of her pelvis and redo the neck mod 'donut' directly inside the neck. At 1/6th scale, working with cling film leaves uneven edges and I've already 'damaged' her collar bone by sanding it down. She's got such potential and she's incredibly graceful, it's a matter of getting the various parts to fit so she can stand and adding something more rounded (and less visible) at the neck/head joint for a more snug fit when tilting the head.
I'm loving the engineering puzzle and the way she becomes more herself with each fix.

I’ve been working on and off in increments on this lovely 1/6th BJD Dollmore Kidult Celia from IG badbishdolls.
First to create a neck donut to move the head forwards and up to match the body proportions better. Then to sand down the clavicles that accentuate the uncanny difference... and the nipples is just so she’ll be easier to dress (she’s pullip type3/momoko size)
I wrapped both head pieces and her neck in cling film with her neck filled with aluminium foil then built a milliput removable piece that i’m slowly sanding to be near invisible. I underestimated just how fiddly it would be and how much the cling film would leave crinkles that could leave the piece fragile, especially once it’s under the weight of strung elastic. But the difference is stark. She’s gone from bobble-head with a huge chin to quite the elegant character.
She needs significant smoothing work but it’ll have to wait, I’d like to try stringing her first to see if the neck piece will hold and how much I can add without getting in the way of the S hook.
