#dolls are a long term interest of mine i think they’re so neat and i could give a 3 hr presentation on dolls.

hi frances 🩷🩷 do you have a favorite doll or type of doll? 🎤

HI COR!!! omg that’s a tough one. i find so many dolls so cool but as always i love my mini me american girl doll i made. i got really into the early 2010’s american girl stopmotion youtube craze (and met some of my best friends that way) so i’ve always been fond of the looks of these dolls. anyways so i bought the doll for my custom secondhand and completely customized them which was so fun!

i had been waiting for this doll (just like you (jly) 116) or a jly115 to end up on the secondhand market for a cheap price for over a year because i wanted this face shape/mold specifically in this skin tone. and did not want to buy directly from the company. and lo and behold the wait paid off!! previously this face shape was only used on the character doll marie-grace gardner, and while i could have made that work, i felt bad customizing one because she’s a rare and discontinued doll despite her seemingly relative frequency on the secondhand market. so. when i got jly116 i swapped their hair (only mildly annoying) and eyes (i had burnt hands for days.) and then my mini-me was complete!! i’m proud of customizing them especially the eye-swap. that’s hard!

tangentially- i’m really interested in götz dolls! they’re a german company that first manufactured american girl dolls in the late 1980s-early 90’s, and they have such a wide array of different dolls. but i can’t see myself ever owning one though they are so cute! they tend to have really recognizable cheeks/lips in their face molds!

otherwise i really really like porcelain dolls- i think they’re so beautiful! i only have a few, and most of them are in storage, or aren’t at my apartment, but you can see two of them here in this really low quality cropped outfit photo!

awful picture but they’re fun. the larger one i got at a flea market like. over a decade ago when i was with my father and she’s the first porcelain doll i ever got! the second one i got in poland :)

otherwise x2 i really like the ruby red fashion dolls! they’re quite cute! but again i can’t see myself owning one. but every time they pop up on my feed on instagram i smile
