i tried a lot of degree programs before i finally got my english degree. if i had stuck to biology, i would probably know more about biology now than i do. but! i wouldn’t know THAT much more.
#don’t be so attached to what a bachelors means that you’re afraid of tackling the inequality of those institutions#i know a lot about how to research and write#but so do many people without english degrees or any college whatsoever#they do it better than me even#some of them have the connections (family or other socioeconomic factors) to get into places a degree might get them#but a lot of people don’t and can’t despite having the necessary skillset#and there are people in college with the skills necessary for the workplace who want to not write three essays every week#and there are people in college who don’t have the skills but they want that degree anyway#how do we make a world that accommodates all of these people?
