It's so stupid, he thinks as he looks at the box in his hand, it's so stupid and Channie may never use it but he hopes it'll make him happy because it took him such a long time to get his hands on this. He loves Channie's obsession with frogs, even wearing their matching hoodies, so Jongin wanted to get more things for his boyfriend for a special day.

That and he's actually shitty at buying gifts.

He told Channie not to come over, needing to get the phone from the store when it was delivered but he had told his pouting boyfriend it was because he'll come over to see him instead. "You always come over to see me so let me come and pick you up instead." He had said while frantically searching for the papers he had printed off, "it's a date, puppy, I'm meant to get you."

Asking Irene for a favour will certainly kick him in the ass but he wanted today to go perfectly and she can pull strings with anyone - especially the aquarium director. Jongin had made this big plan for Valentine's Day, wanting to make it special because Channie deserves that much and he's never done this before so he wants to make it as good as he can. Arranging for them to have the entire aquarium to themselves, Jongin had asked Jangmi for some more frog cupcakes that were coloured orange and blue inside.

Fuck, he hopes Channie loves them.

As he's walking towards the building, his phone goes off and this is where Jongin starts to get nervous. "Yeah?" He listens to the other person on the phone as he presses the elevator button, "yeah, I'm just picking up Channie and I'll be there. Don't touch the food." Once at Channie's door, Jongin knocks and holds a bouquet of roses in his hand as well as the small box. "Happy Valentine's Day, puppy," he says the moment Channie opens up and even though he's nervous, Jongin couldn't be happier than seeing his boyfriend's face light up at the flowers. "Ah, not yet," he keeps the box away from the younger wolf, "soon."

It's all about to come together, hopefully, he thinks, he hopes, as they head down to the car and head to the aquarium.

Jongin knows that the private tour of the aquarium has Channie vibrating next to him and when they get to the area with the big tank and a small cafe, Channie can see how much work Jongin put into it. Handing him the box, Jongin scratches the back of his neck as he watches the wolf open it. "I know it's not the most romantic of gifts but I hope it's enough." He starts, a blush creeping up his cheeks as he says the words he spent all night rehearsing. "I love you, puppy. A lot. I don't think I've ever loved someone as much as you - or thought I'd ever get the chance to and I know I always joke about it but... I do want to spend the rest of my life showing you that love. It's early as fuck I know but I think you should know that."

Even with the heartfelt confession, the surprise isn't over and Jongin clears his throat and calls out for whoever is hiding in the cafe. "Channie, I want you to meet someone." He takes Channie's hand as his older brother and niece walk out of the cafe holding a plate of cupcakes, "this is Hui, my twin and his daughter Hwayoung."
