i'm actually coming up with background for my ohcs (original horse characters) and having a blast. bastard was a young gelded work horse lambert encountered that had an abusive owner who lambert tied to a tree with bastard's tack. bastard promptly bit him and earned his name, but they eventually came to an understanding and bastard tolerated him so long as he gave him carrots and flowers and the occasional sugar cube or oatcake. he's a bigass 18 hand percheron with a docked white tail and a faintly dappled dark gray coat. after a few months of good treatment, bastard warmed up to lambert and lambert grew to love him and talks to him often (but he SWEARS he isn't like geralt and roach, and he's partially right bc most of the time he's shit talking someone or something rather than praising his horse). bastard is skittish around most other people and still a bit testy with lambert at times, but he's steadfast and fearless and will trample nekkers to death without batting an eye. also one time he kicked a bandit trying to rob him from lambert and killed him instantly, earning himself plenty of sugar cubes that night. he prefers the company of other horses to people and is friendly with aiden's mare sor'ca. he took a year or two to warm up to aiden, but will allow him to lead or ride him, though he still prefers lambert and is the definition of a one-person horse
