Beautiful shot of #SharkIDLucy taken by @juansharks. The mainstream media often depicts large white sharks like this as malicious killing machines but in reality they are very cautious, calculated, non-confrontational and do not view humans as a food source. Keep any eye out for @savingjawsmovie coming sometime next year to @netflix which will take a deeper look at some of the numerous misconceptions surrounding sharks and showing a more accurate portrayal of how these animals really are versus what the media wants you to believe. #FearSells #DontBiteIntoTheFear #Coexist #apexpredatornotmonster ____________ #Repost @juansharks ・・・ Meet Lucy, one of the largest great white sharks in Guadalupe. Lucy was one of the 1st white sharks I got to dive with in Guadalupe in 2007 with @abc4explore. So excited to see how well she is doing despite her broken upper caudal fin. She now has a huge family of pilot fish to keep her company and she has probably has doubled in size. If u could call a great white shark sweet and gentle, this how I would describe Lucy. She is a powerful predator, but the last thing she would want to do is to take unnecessary risk. Like most larger shark, Lucy is cautious and calculated, not the monster that traditional media wants u to believe. Stoked to share this experience with @oceanramsey @silenthunterpty @big_island_billy @chriscameron.sa @sharkaddictsdiving @deanocook and all the crew that came out with us @oneoceanresearch @oneoceandiving #ApexPredatorNotMonster #cagethefear photo by #JuanOliphant using @aquatech_imagingsolutions @cressi1946 https://www.instagram.com/p/BqYHd-rh433/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=162whrnzb6095

Amazing project our cofounders are working on to comeback some of the negative media on these amazing creatures! Go follow @savingjawsmovie for updates on the documentary. #Repost @oceanramsey ・・・ Photo by @juansharks #JuanSharks #JuanOliphant #NoCage Filming for @savingjawsmovie a project we’ve been working on for years to help combat destructive fear inducing “shark hate” media and movies like #Meg #47metersdown #theshallows and the majority of the sensationalized and unfactual #sharkweek shows which generally only further scare people away from getting the truth about sharks and their current desperate plight to survive. The truth those media piece don’t share is that shark populations are being brought to the point of extinction and that is devastating for the ocean and all life on earth. All animals have a purpose and role in nature, especially apex predators. Please help speak the truth and educate others about sharks before they are blinded with fear by crappy media that further hurts sharks by mis portraying them as monster. They are not puppies and I am not trying to encourage people to #swimwithgreatWhiteSharks but I hope by opening more peoples eyes to the fact that sharks are a vital component to life and need our help. It’s Humans that kill sharks everyday not the other way around. #speakUp #speakUpForThoseWithoutAVoice #helpsavesharks #savetheocean #oneocean #savingjaws #SaveMeg #MegMovieIsBad #DontBiteIntoTheFear #notsharkweek #respectsharks #shark #sharks NOT #sharkweek #speakupforsharks @keonishoots #oneoceandiving #oneoceanglobal #oneoceanglobalambassador ❤️🦈❤️ Photo ©️ @juansharks 😘
