Introduction
I'm going to be living in the Phillipines for six months.
Right now I'm on a train on my way to Copenhagen, and tomorrow I will be flying to PH. So I can work and live there. For six months. This is literally the scariest ting I've ever done. I am terrified and nervous but sooo excited! So if you want to, you can follow our journey on here.
"Our" being me and the other Youth Leaders on the project - whom I will talk about more at a later time. Right now I just want to talk about how scared I am of doing this crazy, wonderful thing.
I know I am going to have the time of my life - this is literally a "once in a lifetime" experience - and of course I am so excited, and probably more ready than I feel, but right now I miss my mom and my room and my cats and my friends. (and I haven't even left yet lol)
It all started during the 2019 elections - I was so busy and stressed, working and campaigning. To top it all of, I had a fallout with a close friend that I don't talk to anymore (an entirely different, and tbh not that interesting story)
So one day I saw in a DSU group that they were sending a new batch of YL's to the Phillipines for half a year.
Tumblr media
(Do you have a passion for international solidarity and do you want to get an experience of a lifetime as a full-time DSU for seven months? The you are the one DSU needs! In the fall of 2019 DSU is sending two youth leaders to the Phillipines.)
Of course I was very intrigued! I was having a rough year, man. I was exhausted. Needed a change of pace, a change of space, just a general change in my life. I needed my political work to have a meaning. I needed to feel like I was actually making a difference. No doubt, that is what I got. And hopefully what I will be doing for the next long while. But yeah, I kept reading.
I have such passion for organizational work, political work, and generally seeing something you aren’t happy with and doing what you can to change it. I didn’t get to do a lot of that in my work as chairperson of my local DSU chapter, because all of our focus was getting new members (we failed, oops.)
So I was instantly thrilled to get the opportunity to share my knowledge of these other big aspects of being a political organization.
I wasn't entirely sure I was qualified for the job, and I was anxious about writing my application. But I eventually did it, and had my smartest friends read it and give feedback. Then I sent it. And then I just had to wait until someone called me or e-mailed me or sent me a message on facebook.
And they did! And I had an interview! On videochat! And I was so nervous about saying the wrong thing!
And after that I was even more anxious!
And then they said they’d contact me on, like, the 25th of June or something.
But they didn’t. So I figured I didn’t get it, and started applying for other jobs, figuring out what activities to plan in DSU Viborg, and moving on. (I was SO dissappointed tbh)
But then they actually called me the next saturday, and asked if I still wanted to go. And of course I did! So I went to tell my mom that I had to renew my passport, cause I was going to the Phillipines for six months.
My mom was both excited and scared and sad and very happy for me, I think. And I definitely feel the same way. But mostly I’m happy that I took this chance, and that I get to do the work I am passionate about for the next six months.
Thanks for reading

Dragseth named State Board of Higher Education faculty advisor
Tumblr media
Dr. Debora Dragseth, professor of business at DSU
Dr. Debora Dragseth has been elected to be the faculty advisor on the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education for the 2019-2020 academic year. Dragseth is a tenured professor of business at Dickinson State University (DSU), is the former director of the University’s Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program and is the former chair of the department of business and management at DSU. In addition, she is a national award winning writer whose research interests are risk-taking, entrepreneurship and outmigration of youth.
Dragseth is no stranger to Higher Education governance. She has been Dickinson State University’s Faculty Senate president three times and in June 2019 she finished a two-year role as president of the Council of College Faculties, a statewide council that represents all North Dakota University System faculty.
“I feel that I have a breadth of experience that will allow me to recognize the needs of all of our state institutions of higher education. At Dakota State University in South Dakota, I had the traditional 4-year experience of beginning college immediately out of high school and living the ‘dorm life’ while attaining a B.S. in Business and a B.A. in English Literature. My MBA is from the University of South Dakota, an R-2 Research University and my Ph.D. is from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, an R-1 Research University.” While achieving her advanced degrees Dragseth was also a working mother of three, so she understands the challenges of being in that position as well.
Dragseth has received Dickinson State University’s highest faculty award, the Distinguished Teacher of the Year, has been named the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce’s Teacher of the Year, Innovative Teacher of the Year and “2018 Best of the Western Edge: Best Professor” (The Dickinson Press Readers’ Choice Award). She has also been named the student-elected Outstanding Faculty.

via Today Bharat nbsp; The ABVP alliance had swept the students' union elections last year, bagging all six posts of office bearers at the university. Things are heating up on the campus of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) as students are gearing up for the students union elections. Unlike last year, where the Student Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of the CPI(M), had chosen to contest alone, this time, the SFI has forged an alliance with the Ambedkar Studentsrsquo; Association (ASA), Tribal Studentsrsquo; Federation (TSF) and Dalit Studentsrsquo; Union (DSU). The grand alliance of the Left parties, is aiming to take on the ABVP, the student wing of the RSS, which has decided to keep its alliance intact with two other student groups, namely the Other Backward Classes Federation (OBCF) and the Seva Lal Vidyarthi Dal. In a statement, the grand alliance said, "UoH is a particular target of right-wing forces. We have been witnessing excessive and rampant use of state machinery in the form of police, in curbing the free and democratic campus space of discussion and debate, dismantling the very idea of a university." "At a juncture in which anti-student measures have become rampant, it becomes a necessity for progressive and autonomous organisations to come together to resist both the authoritarian university administration and right-wing ABVP and its allies. In this context...we are coming together to strengthen our fight for the rights of the students, to reclaim the democratic space of the campus, and to ensure social justice," it added. Mentioning the death of PhD scholar Ranjan Suna from Odisha, who succumbed to dengue in November last year, the statement added, "The university being tagged with excellence and now 'eminence' has failed to even facilitate the continuous availability of basic amentities such as potable water, quality food, and proper health and sanitation facilities." "In our very own university, none can forget the role of Smriti Irani and Bandaru Dattatreya in the institutional murder of Rohit Vemula...to further the Brahmincal, neo-liberal and communal agendas, the BJP led central government has been continuously implementing various anti-student measures in higher educational institutions," the statement added. The SFI has nominated Abhishek Nandan for the post of President, while the ABVP has nominated Phani Krishna. Meanwhile, organisations like the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) and Muslim Students Front are contesting together, for the post of President and Vice-President. The Bahujan Students Front (BSF) has extended its support to the SIO candidate for President and to the alliance for the other posts. Voting will be held on September 26 and results will be announced a day later, on September 27. In October last year, the ABVP alliance had swept the students' union elections, bagging all six posts of office bearers at the varsity. Following the death of Rohith Vemula in 2016, there was a split amongst progressive groups on campus, as the ASA had accused the Left groups of betraying the 'Justice for Rohith' movement, and failing to offer key posts to Dalit students. However, considering the ABVP's clean sweep of the polls last year, it seems that the two groups have now stitched up an alliance again, in order to defeat the ruling union.

As election season approaches, the battle is heating up over Utah’s Proposition 2, a ballot initiative to legalize medical cannabis. A powerful coalition of anti-legalization groups including the Utah Medical Association and Drug Safe Utah have drawn aside the LDS Church to launch a coordinated campaign to tank Prop. 2. Throughout, proponents of medical cannabis legalization have accused opponents of spreading misinformation and misleading Utah voters about the measure. And today, they took their criticism to the next level, filing an official election complaint over Drug Safe Utah’s latest radio ad opposing Prop. 2.
Drug Safe Utah Airs False and Misleading Radio Ad About Prop. 2, Group Claims
Drug Safe Utah’s radio ad begins by telling listeners about an “important message about Proposition 2”. At the start, we hear a voice who identifies himself as Dr. Bill Hamilton. Hamilton is the President of the Utah Medical Association, an active and vocal opponent of medical cannabis legalization. The ad does not identify Hamilton’s affiliation.
Over a melancholic background of piano music, Hamilton begins by telling voters that Proposition 2, literally a “Medical Marijuana Initiative” isn’t actually about medical cannabis, but recreational use. Then Dr. Hamilton says medical marijuana is already legal in Utah, that doctors can prescribe it and patients can buy it over the counter.
Here, however, Hamilton’s statements are somewhat true, but also somewhat misleading. Indeed, Utah did pass a “right to try” bill for terminally ill patients to seek non-FDA approved treatments, including medical cannabis. Utah was also the first state to legalize low-THC CBD oil for intractable epilepsy without legalizing any other form of medical cannabis. Because CBD oil can come from hemp, a patient could obtain it “over the counter” in a health store or pharmacy. Utah also permits physicians to prescribe cannabis-based drugs with FDA approval, like Epidiolex.
In the ad, Hamilton tries to paint these limited measures as legalized medical cannabis, and anything new as the start of a “recreational drug industry.”
Hamilton talks about Prop. 2 legalizing the “full plant” and creating “a new industry of grow houses and pot shop dispensaries selling edible marijuana with unregulated, high levels of the dangerous drug THC.”
The ad presents licensed cannabis cultivation and dispensaries as incompatible with the medical use of cannabis. Prop. 2 ultimately “goes too far,” the ad claims, “creating a recreational drug industry in Utah.”
Medical Cannabis Advocates File Official Complaint Against Drug Safe Utah’s Latest Ad
For the Utah Patients Coalition, the ad was the last straw. And today, the group filed an official election complaint against Drug Safe Utah. The complaint specifically accuses DSU of publishing false statements “that will affect how people vote” for Proposition 2 in November.
The Utah Patients Coalition zeroed in on Dr. Hamilton’s first claim in particular. The claim about Prop. 2 being about “recreational use,” not medical use. In response to the complaint, DSU doubled down, accusing the marijuana industry of shaping Prop. 2 and alleging it lacks “traditional safeguards of medical practice.”
Utah officials are still reviewing the complaint and have not yet issued any decisions regarding the ad. The latest polls also show that two-thirds of Utah voters are still behind Proposition 2. But that figure is roughly eight percent lower than it had been. Support for Prop. 2 dropped after the LDS Church released a statement officially opposing medical cannabis legalization.

Utah has been a friendly place to Mitt Romney.
A part of the state’s Republican majority and a member of its predominant faith, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Romney still carries credit for having helped to raise Utah’s reputation through his work managing the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
As a presidential candidate in 2012, he won 73 percent of the vote here, his highest in any state.
On Monday, now running as a candidate this year for the U.S. Senate seat being left by the retiring Orrin Hatch, Romney was greeted like a celebrity by throngs of supporters at a campaign appearance at Dixie State University, with hundreds of students lining up to shake hands and take photographs.
“I was a huge fan. I love everything he stands for,” said Allie Kittell, a 20-year-old DSU student who waited in the line. “He’s so family-oriented.”
How Utah are you?

With Hatch out of the race, the only declared candidates already vying for the seat were Republican attorney Larry Meyers, Democrats Jenny Wilson and Mitchell Vice, along with Libertarian Craig Bowden.
But while Romney, 70, appears to be the presumptive front-runner in the Senate race, he’s still been dogged by questions about his actual ties to the Beehive State.
A Michigan native whose highest political office was as governor of Massachusetts, he’s been a resident of the Holladay area outside of Salt Lake City the past four years, and critics are using terms like “carpetbagger” to poke holes in his candidacy.
That might be why he spent part of his day taking a tour of the St. George Tabernacle, a building his great-great grandfather designed and help build.
Miles Romney, an early Mormon pioneer and architect, designed both the St. George Tabernacle and Brigham Young Winter Home and Office. Both buildings are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and are popular attractions today with St. George area visitors.
He also worked as superintendent of the construction of the St. George Temple, and died in 1877 at the age of 70 from complications suffered from a fall while working at the building, according to the Washington County Historical Society.

Romney noted Monday that he went to school in Utah, graduating from Brigham Young University. He has nine grandchildren living in the state, and his son was born here.
But Mitt Romney said Monday he doesn’t think most Utah voters are that worried about his Utah credentials.
“I think most people want to know, what can you do from the Senate to help Utah,” he said. “I think by virtue of the associations I have in Washington (D.C.), in the Senate, in the House and in the White House, I can do more for Utah and the people of Utah than the average incoming freshman senator might be able to accomplish.”
Taking Utah to Washington
Romney has vowed to take “Utah values” to Washington, D.C., and said Monday he wants to help improve the level of political and social discourse taking place in the country.
Words like “civility” and “professionalism” were common among the students and others who gathered to greet Romney at DSU, with some arguing he could counter some of President Donald Trump’s mannerisms.
“I think he could be a strong voice, someone to say, no Mr. President, that’s not how we do things in the United States,” said Cameron Helvie, 24, another of those who lined up to take photos.
A frequent critic of the president, Romney gave a speech two years ago calling then-candidate Trump a “phony” and a “fraud” and warning that his policies could “balloon the deficit and national debt,” instigate a trade war and threaten national security.

After Trump was elected, Romney praised the president for getting elected and interviewed to serve as secretary of state. Trump picked Rex Tillerson to lead the State Department instead.
Since then Romney has sometimes been critical of the president on social media.
After Trump threw his support behind controversial Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore despite multiple allegations he had sexually abused teenagers years earlier, Romney tweeted that he believed one of Moore’s accusers and argued electing him “would be a stain on the GOP and the nation.”
Romney also called out Trump after the president’s response to a neo-nazi rally and violence in Charlottesville, Va., last year, and after the president reportedly asked about why the U.S. needed to bring in immigrants from “s–hole” African countries.
Still, Romney has agreed with Trump on most policy issues, and indicated he would have voted for the Republican tax plan and has supported the president’s judicial nominees.

Wolf leading the pack
Former VP internal assumes control after two presidents recalled in a single meeting
by Zoe Barnes
Tumblr media
Wolfe takes a seat on the DSU throne. KIT MORAN/GAZETTRO
In a shocking turn of events, former VP internal Arron Wolfe has been named Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) president after a snap recall vote on Mar. 20, following a protest wherein 600 students filled the Student Union Building (SUB) atrium with torches and pitchforks.
Deposed president Sawgrr Jaw was removed from office after news broke earlier this semester that the student union president was himself not a student. On Feb. 3, he dropped his only course and was therefore in violation of the DSU constitution’s rules governing executive eligibility. By-law II defines a member of the union as someone who is registered in at least one course and has paid the DSU fee.
Kash Croteau, Sexton campus director, noticed the motion for Jaw’s recall on the previous meeting.
In an effort to prevent the vote from going through, several councillors left the room just before the vote was to take place, which would have rendered the vote out of order. This was, allegedly, a brazen attempt by Jaw’s supporters to keep him in power for the remainder of the term.
“It is unfortunate that Mr. Jaw and his ‘party’ felt the need to use such tricks to prevent the voice of democracy from being heard. Those who wanted the vote had no problem at all with the job he was doing, but the constitution is clear: you must be a student.” says Croteau, following the meeting. “These are the rules, and they are there for a reason.”
While the councillors attempted to vacate the room, Wolfe, VP internal in 2012-13, pointed out to the chair that DSU policy states “in the event that quorum is not reached, councillors may be arrested and brought in forcefully by Dalhousie Security.” (Union Rules and Procedures, Section 16.6.e)
After an hour of waiting, security managed to secure quorum. “Here under protest!” declared Alex LeCavelier, commerce representative. The rule in question has not been enacted since 1985, when quorum was needed to pass a motion banning exotic dancing in the McInnes room.
After some heated comments, the vote passed 21 in favour, 10 against and two in abstention, and Jaw was removed as president.
In accordance with the constitution, Ramirez Aziziz, current VP internal, was announced as acting-president for the remainder of the semester. In his first act as DSU president, he announced Wolfe as acting VP internal for the remainder of the semester, given his experience. That motion was met with unanimous approval from council.
“Competence is such an exotic bird in these woods that I appreciate it whenever I see it,” said Board of Governors representative JD Salinger before the vote. “Mr. Wolfe will ensure the job is done and societies get what they need.”
The real controversy came only seconds after Wolfe was voted in. Joshua Crook, VP finance and operations, pointed out that Aziziz had missed four council meetings throughout the year, thus automatically disqualifying him from his position on the executive. After consulting the constitution, the chair confirmed that Aziziz was automatically recalled, and as a result Wolfe was named acting-president for the remainder of the year. Despite protest from council, and a quick reminder that Wolfe was one of the members of Crook's hiring board,  the decision was recorded in the minutes as final.
“I’m pleased with council’s decision and can assure you I will execute the office of the President to the best of my abilities” said Wolfe, accepting the position.
When asked if he could avoid the drama and pain faced by the previous two presidents, he told the Gazettro, “There are two kinds of pain. The sort of pain that makes you strong, or useless pain. The sort of pain that’s only suffering. I have no patience for useless things.”
Herma Midan, the second Board of Governors representative, is planning on taking council’s decision to the Judicial Board.
“This is a clear affront to democracy.” he said. “While I respect Mr. Wolfe and the work he did last year, he ran in no election and had no ballot cast in his name. This decision is wrong.”
In response, the new president had only this to say:
“Democracy is so overrated."

Why did you choose Dickinson State University for your bachelor’s degree?
I was a first generation college student and there was no question I was going to college. I had started researching colleges when I was a sophomore in high school and knew it was closer and more affordable for me to go to college in North Dakota versus Montana. I was looking at NDSU or UND because I thought bigger was better. My parents told me to slow down because they wanted me to go to a smaller school for the first two years since I was graduating from a high school class of 22 students. I chose DSU because it had the concentration that I was looking for in the Business Administration area and it was just the right distance from home. By the end of my freshman year, I knew I wasn’t going to transfer. I got involved and loved the class sizes. It was the right fit for me.
What degree did you earn?
I graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in banking and finance.
Was there a certain professor who made a big impact on your life?
During college, I think all of the business professors did a great job in applying the “real world” tactics in the classroom. I remember Business Policy was a class you took as a senior. They were afraid of Dr. Deb Dragseth’s ratio quiz because you had to pass it in order to pass the class and graduate. I remember doing the case studies and getting to the part where we took the ratio quiz. I passed on the first attempt. At that point, I knew I was ready for the real world. As an employee, Hank Biesiot has had a big impact on my life. I got to know him really well when I worked in Admissions. He had a lot of football recruits that would come in that I would meet with and he offered a lot of life advice and kind of became that guy I looked up to when my dad passed away in 2001. Hank is still very much connected with DSU, and I love that he visits us at the DSU Heritage Foundation a few times each week. I think everyone needs a Hank in their life. A tremendous man who has impacted the lives of many!
What are you most proud of when you look back at your time at DSU?
I think of the person I became because of my time spent at Dickinson State. It changed me and allowed me to find who I wanted to be as an adult.
What was the most difficult thing for you as an undergraduate, and how did you overcome it?
The most difficult thing was meeting new people. Growing up in a small community and attending a high school where you knew everyone, it was hard to come to a college where you didn’t know anyone. Getting involved in college activities like Woods Hall Council as a freshman and then Campus Activities Board as a sophomore really helped me meet more people. By the time I started my junior year, I had the confidence to apply for Student Ambassadors and get one of the positions. The confidence I gained opened the doors to the Finance Committee and Student Hearing Board which were appointed positions. It also led to me getting recruited to become an Admissions Counselor before I even graduated from college. It’s also led me to become who I am today.
What would you tell someone who is considering attending DSU?
Definitely consider it. Estimate what the cost is of tuition and fees, room and board, books and add another $1,500 in each semester for living expenses. Do that for each of the colleges you are looking at and see the price difference. Come for a campus visit and see how personalized the campus is for you. Visit us at the DSU Heritage Foundation and find out about the scholarship opportunities and hear the success stories of some of our alumni. Go on a campus tour, visit with a college professor in the area in which you plan on majoring in, and ask to visit with some current college students. Ask those students why they chose to attend DSU and what makes them want to finish college as a Blue Hawk. The best part of being a Blue Hawk is the family you are always surrounded by.
How did DSU help shape your decisions for your path after you graduated?
I didn’t know it at the time but I listened to my parents, Deb Dazell (my Student Ambassador advisor), and Marshall Melbye. They encouraged me to become an Admissions Counselor. That first year was interesting. I didn’t know if I really liked my job or not. My dad told me that working in a job for one year wasn’t long enough to determine if I loved or hated my job. He told me to give it another year so I did. Driving on Highway 2 in Montana I realized that I really loved my job. I stayed in Admissions for 11 years until I was recruited to go to work in the mortgage industry. I left my job while I loved it. For me, I needed to see what else was out there and see how I could really use my degree. After working in the mortgage business for two years during the oil boom, I knew I was ready to go back home to DSU when I was recruited for two different positions. I chose to work for the foundation because I felt like I needed the change in my career and was excited for the challenge. Fast forward five years and I can’t believe all the people I have met and continue to meet. I LOVE MY JOB!
How did your time at DSU help you to be successful in your later pursuits?
It definitely made me more outgoing. I was able to form a friendship with a lot of my classmates. Fast forward to the present and it has turned into the “friendraising” aspect of my job. I LOVE meeting new people and reconnecting with those who I’ve previously met. You never know who will meet or who they may be related to.
What are you doing now?
As the Director of Alumni Relations, I never know who I may talk to on the phone. I love being able to talk to alumni and hear their story of their time spent at the College on the Hill. I also enjoy getting to meet our students and their parents at athletic events, such as the tailgates and postgame socials. My friends range in age from 2 years of age up to 95 years of age. It’s pretty cool to see the broad spectrum.
What do you enjoy most about working for your alma mater?
My favorite thing about working for my alma mater is the people I have met and continue to meet. The students are some of my favorite ones to visit with because I want them to know that DSU is more than a college. We are a family if you allow yourself to get involved and meet the people in the offices and in the classrooms. My job has allowed me to get to know so many people in our community as well. From our city commissioners to our locally elected officials serving at the state level, I’m happy to know them on a first name basis.
Do you have any plans for the future you would like to share?
I hope to be the next Maude Klinefelter and enjoy working for DSU until I retire.

Grab Your Cowboy Hat's Boy's and Girl's, it's Election Time in the DSU!
Okay firstly, I apologize for my lack of posts up until now. Life has been sadly hectic and I haven't been able to find time to write more about the going-on's of Dalhousie Political Life. So, on that note, once again I would like to open the floor to submissions from outsiders. If you're interested please email me or contact me via Facebook. Thanks.
Now, on-wards.
There has been a lot of hectic frenzy leading up to the elections this year. This is due, in part, to the fact that the time of elections have changed. When once they were done in March, now they're being done end of January early February. The reasoning behind this is actually quite simple. Put them earlier before mid-term hell that most students experience and you'll have more voter turn out.
It's a good theory, but it's exactly that, a theory. When the voter turn out results are in I will turn my attention to an post steeped in Theory Put to Practice, how it worked/failed when the time comes. In the mean time I would like throw down some of my thoughts/worries/contemplation about Candidates and Elections this year.
Although I know some of you are dying for me to put my weight behind a Candidate or two, I'm not going to, not here anyways. If you would like to ask me who I am voting for, please feel free to take me for coffee or beer and we shall discuss my choices for whom I would like to see win. In the mean time, let's discuss the plethora of Candidates and the way I see things as of now.
First off, a Candidate list can be found on the DSU Elections website, which is www.dsuelections.ca and of course check out Punditry.ca for a list of Candidates and commentary about websites and posters.
President-  Jamie A and Sarah B were both on the board this year, Sarah was VPAE and Jamie was VPSL. Now they have both chosen to run for Presidency. I kind of find that very interesting, and I truly wonder how the dynamic in the office is right at this moment...
I have two comments in regards to both of them. The first is that I feel like Jamie is that fun loving buddy you can go have a beer with, hang out the back yard of a friends place and play croquet with (which I did). He's got the personality to be relaxed and serious at the same time.  On the other hand I see Sarah as a serious driver some who simply just GETS SHIT DONE. She's serious and to the point while being all cute and just a downright plain delight.
My second comment is about their posters. Sarah's is just two awkwardly plain while Jamie's is just too full. This is the same for their websites. I also feel a bit awkward and uneasy with Jamie's poster. It's all the points about what he's achieved this year as a VPSL, which is amazing, but I feel like that doesn't fully suit the role of President. So I'm worried.
VP Internal;
JD Hutton- I know little to nothing about this person, other then that someone pointed him out to me recently. I'm a little worried about what his lack of poster says about him...is he serious? What happened? I haven't checked his website, so I'll leave it alone, for now.
Alyssa Phillips- I met recently this year and haven't gotten to know her terribly well. Although I do say she is a very nice young lady and because we both felt awkward at the DSU Staff party in December we had a few drinks together, while doing that -I know no one here, oh hell- look around the room. I feel like we bonded. S'All good. A note on her poster- I love the three faces of herself at the bottom. If you're staring at it briefly you probably wouldn't catch it, but when you look at it the second time you truly do giggle.
Becky Richter- I met through DSU Brains for Change when I was involved in the planning stages this year (unfortunately I had to remove myself from the program due to my very hectic life) and did have some interaction with her. She's like a very lovely person and a go- get it done- no nonsense attitude. Although I enjoyed her poster, I felt like Jamie's it was cluttered but having said that, I liked her little blurb on it. I found it amusing.
Aaron Wolf- No idea who he is, never met him. The poster made me giggle though, but it's a bit- well not really truly campaigny I feel, and is that Spanish on the bottom? He's reaching out...interesting. His second poster I like more, and has a different language under it. Very smart.
ARE WE ONLY VP STUDENT LIFE NOW??? Yup.
So I've met/know none of the candidates for this years, but if the posters are any indication. I'm worried. Very. Very. Worried. They don't seem to have an element of fun, more like, I'm groaning here. I think Jamie last year did some music video's or something? I feel like for VPSL they should be more creative, and more outgoing in their posters alone. This is not felt. Sorry guys.
VPAE:
Richard Clark: Okay, so this kid I know pretty well. He's a serious dude, and he's been serious about this position since he was commissioner for LeForte when he was VPAE. His poster is alright, not a big fan, not gonna lie. He does good with the colours though and I know that scarf is going to be a running joke among every Pundit soon. (I think a crack was already made on Punditry.ca) But his video's rock. Amazingly so.
Aaron Beale- Okay. So I know of him. He's a good guy, seems to have a huge heart. I know he does work with Loaded Ladle, so props to that. But I just feel like he's running for the wrong position or something. I think it has to do with the food options thing on his poster. I feel like the poster is just stark in all the wrong ways. I don't know, and also I'm not a huge fan on the play on words. Cute, but I'm not huge on it.
Senate:
Re-Elect Jon Magill. 'Nuff said. This guy has done amazing work on Senate, and alright I'm biased. I was in res with him and he was super nice and sweet when I came cause I came in January and knew no one. Since then I've gotten to know him. He's a serious guy when it comes to serious topics but totally willing to hang out and have fun.
As for every other Candidate for Senate- I know nothing about them and have never met them. And since there is three and I'm getting lazy I won't go through the poster's one by one. I will say though, I like Zainab's poster the best.
Board of Governor's:
Curtis, Curtis, Curtis. You're running uncontested! What shit is this!? While every other position has like ten candidates, you have Curtis. And that's it. Alright. Well I know Curtis personally, good kid, good guy. No comment on the poster, just...a suit? Always. A Suit.
And I think I'm going to end there for the time being. That's my two cent's currently and as things progress I'm sure to add more. Watch for me on Punditry, and of course just all around. If you wish to contact me, please do so at [email protected]
Til next post!
