Mello had only been in this city for a few days. As such, he felt that he should tackle each of the four districts in a clockwise order, starting of course with his own -- he did, after all, want to get a bearing on where he was. This place was so different from any he’d ever known, and there was something… off.

That was a matter for later. For now, it was exploration.

He shook his head as he found himself near ‘the star trail’, and though the smells of rich delicacies wafted through the air he found himself craving one thing in particular. “Hey,” he said, stepping in front of someone who looked like they knew what they were doing. “Do you know if they sell chocolate here?”

– You text Hatsuharu. Even if you do want to make sure everyone is okay, you decide to be selfish and seek answers first. You don’t trust a word of what the cab driver has to say to you, and out of all of your contacts, Haru feels like the least daunting. He cares about your wellbeing, and won’t question why you haven’t figured things out automatically. If he finds out the reason why is because you are floundering, he won’t blame you or make a production out of it. He’ll give you answers. 

TEXT @ SOHMA HATSUHARU Where are we? This is Yuki. There was a platform, and the only way off it was through a cab. The driver said he’s taking me to my “accommodations”? I don’t trust him. I don’t trust any of this. Haru? 

– You don’t realize how desperate you’re coming across until you read the texts over again. But even venting, even allowing yourself to reach out in some way has released some stress. You have a line to the outside. It’s going to be okay.

     she was starting to panic. nothing about this place made sense, nowhere was familiar or comforting. not that any place was before she got here, but now it felt as though the entire world was out to get her. she didn’t know where he was, the one who was the center of all this, and without a means to keep tabs, how could she fulfill her goal? there was no way rin would give up on it. it was important- it was all she had so she could free him. 

     rin continued to run any and everywhere until she tired herself out. her body had betrayed her once again and she found herself sitting on a bench underneath a tree, trying to catch her breath. why now? why now? she was so close! were all her efforts for nothing? 

     it was exhausting trying to wrap her head around things she couldn’t understand. her black and white world was suddenly an uncomfortable gray she couldn’t make out. 

     sensing a presence nearby, rin immediately got to her feet, stance defensive as she tried to find the culprit.

     “get lost, i don’t need your help.”

Her demeanor perks up upon seeing the other ( which isn’t to say she’d been sulking before, exactly, but there is a reassurance— hope — that comes with seeing a familiar face ); a friendly wave to get his attention. 

“Hatsuharu-san!” Her tone is gleeful, is such had not been apparent before in the subtle cheerfulness of her body language, the small bounce in her step. “I wasn’t expecting to find you out here. Are you doing all right?”
