The real estate market is all about balance, and that balance is all based on supply and demand.

With higher interest rates, we’ve seen the demand for homes go down as potential buyers have said “...maybe later.”

As a result, supply has gotten larger and home prices have either plateaued or slowly decreased in most areas.

But as soon as interest rates go back down, buyer demand is sure to tick back up. This will decrease the available supply and home prices will rise–along with the competition to get into those homes.

This is why I’ve been saying over and over again: if it makes sense for you to buy a home now, then just go for it! There will always be something going on in the market, so buy when it makes sense for your situation.

This might come as a surprise, but sometimes a newly remodeled kitchen won’t get you the best ROI.

This is because kitchens are very personal spaces–people spend a lot of time in them, and they’re usually the heart of the home.

Every buyer seems to like something a little different in a kitchen. There’s nothing wrong with a builder-grade, gray kitchen with subway tile backsplash, but most people like a space that feels like home and reflects their style.

If your kitchen is in dire need of an update, consider redoing your cabinets or countertops. This will freshen the space up but still allow buyers to make personal choices on backsplashes and other finishes.

You can also add value to your home by focusing on the bones: can you update the paint throughout the home to clean, light-infused colors? What about finishing out the basement or garage to add more storage space?
