so like

modern au (jesus christ. im thinking about aus. for characters that arent even real. ok.) you know how someone who is eighteen can technically adopt someone who is seventeen?

ok so what if

eel was in the foster system after he ran away/maybe his parents die in a modern au just to be nicer to him

and he meets dimes/charlie in a foster house and they basically on sight just point at eachother and be like "you are my brother now" and theyre inseparable from there

so dimes gets taken to a different foster home because the family doesnt have enough funds per the government to support that many kids (maybe this is where eel meets jack and spot too... in my brain they were foster brothers aswell because i say so xx)

and eel is devastated (rightfully so, that was his brother :() and so he ages out soon after and puts his entire heart and soul into working as hard as he can to save up enough money to be able to financially support both himself and dimes

and for dimes' seventeenth birthday.

eel figures out the address of the foster house he's in and shows up on the front door, adoption papers in hand.

but mostly i wanted to put this on paper so to speak because i had the thought of dimes goofing around and eel loves to just "now, son-" and put a patronizing hand on his shoulder before they both start laughing
