Exports of engineering goods to Russia jumped 11 times in April this year to USD 133.6 million as compared to year-ago month while the US and China markets continued to soften, the engineering export promotion council said on Saturday.

Engineering is by far the largest segment in the Indian industry, employing approximately four million skilled and semi-skilled workers. The engineering sector in India has witnessed tremendous growth, led by significant investments in power projects and infrastructure development.

A near 16 per cent increase in overall engineering exports during January,2021 over the same month last year was influenced by a sharp rise of 66.66 per cent in shipments of copper/products to USD 138.50 million from USD 83.10 million.
