BEST EXPERIENCE : I've been around too long to pick just one, but I can say the most fun I’ve had has been with pokemon, tf2 / overwatch, mass effect, and TDP — the best memories are from the times I wrote Lysandre, Sniper, Sigma, BOB, Thane, and Harrow. 

RP PET PEEVES / DEALBREAKERS : crossing boundaries / being excessively pushy. I've had bad times with people not taking no for an answer, which makes it difficult sometimes to do so. 

MUSE PREFERENCES: I like to have a range! For every serious muse I have, I like to have a lighthearted one to balance it out. Or at least have something positive going on. I learned ages ago that while I love writing angst, drama, and intense things… I need to make sure my brain unlatches from that before I get back to daily life. 

PLOTS OR MEMES : both! But plots from memes have been my go-to for a long time. Sometimes you need the inspiration to start something. Plotting is fun though and I will talk excessively about ideas if you get me started. 

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES : both!! The short ones are fun for quick in the moment stuff, and longer ones are nice to have to sit back and work on during days off. 

BEST TIME TO WRITE : … my weekends or days where I'm not totally dead from work. So basically every time and no time is the best. 

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S) : tbh? I think it's impossible to write anyone without putting a bit of yourself in there. It's why seeing different interpretations of the same muse is fun. So yes, but I couldn't place where except when I trans my muses' genders.

Who is an author that inspires you? I honestly don’t get to read much anymore mostly because I don’t make the time for myself so, it’s 100% on me. But, I do have some authors that stuck with me throughout the years like Jonas Karlsson and there’s  a lot of YA junk I read as a teen who practically lived at the library that I won’t go off about here because I lived in series like Twilight and Eragon and the Mortal Instruments.

What do you look for in a rp partner?  Patience coupled with just enough excitement. Where we can talk and have fun here and there but, it doesn’t have to be constant. Hit me up every week or couple of weeks if you want but, there’s no pressure to always be on and ready and going.

Favourite trope? Anything deliciously angsty. Survivors Guilt, Bad boy with a tragic backstory, Loss or pain as a vehicle, unrequited love. Don’t let me keep going.

i’m going to skip out on the ocs because i feel like it’s pretty self explanatory so this leaves us with archie, eragon, isaac, & peter.

archie. i actually started writing on a whim. i settled on dan cohen as an fc for peter, & dan cohen plays archie on the show my mad fat diary. i got to talking to someone about the show & she ended up making a rae & i made an archie to write with her. it died out pretty quick but i had put so much effort into making an archie blog, & fleshing out his character & story that i wanted to keep writing him. besides, i already had all the icons i had made for peter, so why not? after i moved archie to this blog i didn’t want to have any confusion about the characters so i started writing archie as he would be in present day in his late 30s so i just use a different fc entirely & never write him in the past.

eragon. he’s one of my all time favourite characters. there might have been four massive books about him, but i wanted to see more of him. i wanted him in different situations, meeting different people, see how he grew post-series. writing him just seemed like the best way to do that. it was that or reading fanfiction & ngl, wasn’t a fan. people kinda idolized him too much. like yeah he’s got magic, & he’s got some dope sword skills, but he’s also a fuckin idiot. he’s stubborn & impulsive & rushes in head first without thinking. granted this improves as he matures throughout the series. but he’s still that same dumb farmboy he was at 15.

isaac. oh, isaac. my son, my baby boy. frankly, i hated the way he was written on the show. he was reduced to comic relief, making light of his traumatic past & it hated it. i loved his character so much, & saw so much potential for growth, but instead he was mistreated at every turn & honestly?? he deserved better. i wanted to give him the attention he deserved & boy is he so much fun to write. he’s a dumb boy but he’s so determined & probably the most selfless person on the show ( & i will fight you on this ). all he wants is to feel safe & strong. he wants to take care of people around him, & he wants people to take care of him, even if he’s afraid to ask. god he just deserved the world & i wanted to give him that.

he was actually also my first real rp blog on tumblr, & certainly the first character i put any real effort into. i started writing him in what, 2012? maybe 2013? so he’s definitely the muse i’ve written the longest. 

peter. alrighty, i’ve said it before & i’ll say it again. the way he was written made no sense & there were nothing but contradictions when it came to his character. it made me so curious about what he was really like, what his story could be that could possibly allow for such contradictions & assumptions to be made. before i knew it he became my favourite character in the series, & easily one of the characters i’m most passionate about. part of me wanted to show the positive sides of peter; the things that the marauders saw in him, the things that made him so lovable, the good in him. the other part of me wanted to explore all the dark things; to see what made him angry, what caused him to lash out, what secrets he held, & what struggles he faced. i wanted people to see what i saw. i wanted people to realize that he was a multifaceted person. he was more than scared & spineless; that’s not all he was, that’s not who he was. i’ll never downplay the betrayal, but nobody seems to realize that he didn’t exist for that single moment, you know? there’s more to him than the betrayal. he’s smart & powerful & skilled; the list goes on. i just wanted to write those things.

♣ Is there an author(s) that you look up to with your writing skills? || ♧ Is there an RP partner(s) that you credit for becoming a better writer?

Questions for the Mun

♣ I think every author should be looked up to, in their own right? It’s not an easy thing to write a book, and if you manage it read through the entirety of one, despite how much you enjoyed it, it obviously captivated you enough to stick through it? I really enjoyed Christopher Paolini’s “Inheritance Cycle” with my man Eragon, and more recently David Eddings’ “The Elenium” with Sparhawk.

But even something like J. K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter”, and Emily Rodda’s “Deltora Quest”, although substantially more simplistic and probably intended (at least at first) for a younger audience, both have a huge amount of merit. The sheer quantity of material the two released is fantastic. 

♧ I could sit here all day and list the partners who I adore. I’m genuinely in love with so many people, their characterization, the depths of their understanding of their characters, their personal spins, headcanons– all of it. I’ll need to dedicate a separate post entirely for all of that.

But one deserves a special mention. By my own estimation, I first RP’d with them seven years ago, as a much different character. They’ve taught me how to use icons, they’ve taught me how to format text. Themes, memes and dreams. I genuinely wouldn’t be half the writer I am today if it weren’t for my on and off again interactions with this mun and their interstellar quality writing. I have been blessed to bump into them again after rejoining indie, but they have even more blogs than I do so I’ll just tag the one most relevant to Bazz-B.

7. early influences on your writing

Oof. Definitely Christopher Paolini’s Eragon. I must have read that book about five times before I hit middle school. Really shaped the kind of writing I did and the things I decided to put out into the world. Lord of the Rings was another big one once I was old enough to understand it. It wasn’t until around high school that I got more into sci-fi (which is now one of my very favorite things to write) and credit for that goes to Star Wars (of course) and (in a huge way) the Stargate series.

9. do you set yourself deadlines?

Sometimes. I’ve done NaNo a couple times (always failed; I value quality over quantity too much), and my senior year I set myself to finish a draft by the end of the year (accomplished. Haven’t touched it since.) I have a few stories I post online, and oftentimes I tell myself “one chapter per day, go back and edit later.” I do some paragraph RP as well (not nearly as much as I used to) and I’d give myself a max of a week to issue a reply to a post.

Pro tip: I heard once that if you have to stop writing, stop in the middle of the sentence. It’s easier to get going again if you still have some momentum when you come back.

13. hardest character to write

That’s a tough one. I write with so many characters and I can always find a niche in every one. Sometimes, when I’ve found characters hard to write, it’s because either I wasn’t meshing with the person I wrote with, or I had something wrong in how my characters were set up (e.g. the Power Couple of the cast was never happy and then I realized both were gay af). I don’t think I’ve found someone who’s necessarily hard to write unless I just don’t know enough about them.

That being said, with a bit more thought, I think Zaila of my Reboot novel is the most difficult for me. I have a hard time deciding what her character actually is in terms of the story without making her a “hot warrior alien babe” trope. Some things will have to be reworked.

Fuuuuuuck um, okay, how about a top 5 list.

1. Nevaeh Sloan of my Harborage series. She’s super fun and I believe she’s my most interesting character.

2. Olwe of my Herbalist’s Apprentice trilogy. He’s so soft and sweet, extremely therapeutic for me.

3. Dick Grayson of DC Comics. Legit. I love him. I love this boy. He’s so great.

4. Rowan of my obligatory Arthurian story. She’s definitely the most fun for a variety of reasons.

5. MJ Cooper of my Reboot novel. She comes straight from the heart yo.

Preferred genres/tropes/AUs: Tbh? I’ll write just about anything. I reallllly like fluff and angst, and longer, more dramatic threads. But I’m not against things like crack or what have you. I actually get overwhelmed by angst at times and have to take breaks from it - the heavier the subject, the more often I have to just walk away for a bit. I CAN write them, but it takes a lot out of me =o Disliked genres/tropes/AUs: Not too into OVERLY done angst, like gore, or r*pe. Or things where the plot’s too one-sided? I dunno if there’s a word for that lol - tbh there’s not much I won’t write. I CAN do the above mentioned, they’re just...not things I can handle much of at once. And I can’t do incest or pedo ships. Just...I can’t. I don’t mind if others do it, but I myself can’t do threads with them. Preferred writing styles: Anywhere from one-liners to novella style. Usually just a few lines or paragraphs though.

Personal Icon preferences (Do you use them? Do you prefer certain sizes? Ect.): I FINALLY HAVE SOME that I’ve put together, but they’re certainly not a necessity. I use them in asks, and if my partner uses them. If they’re not, I won’t, unless I have one that fits just...too well and I can’t help myself xD Partners Icon preferences (Do you prefer your partners to have certain icon styles or not care?): Totally up to the other mun! I don’t mind either way, but I’ll steal Mey’s point about having like...full-size things? Gifs OR stills. It’s just...too much. Any other details about your writing preferences you want to include: Nothing beyond just saying that the muns come first. Anything you need for your comfort - dropping threads, unfollowing, taking a hiatus from a thread, whatever - you do, 1000% of the time. I will NEVER be angry at you for doing what YOU need to do to be happy and healthy! This is a hobby, and nothing to get upset over! <3

What fandoms do you consider yourself a part of, even outside of this blog?: ...in all honesty, not many =‘D I mean I’ve read/watched some things, but I don’t really...DO much beyond that with them, y’know? But for posterity’s sake I’ll list what I can think of. Naruto (obviously), Kuroshitsuji, Harry Potter, Eragon, Witcher 3, Kamisama Hajimemashita, Pokemon (gens 1-3), Trinity Blood, Ouran, Fruits Basket, and likely other things I can’t think of xD Some I’m still getting into though~ What fandoms are you entirely uninterested in?: Uhhh...nothing really comes to mind?
