I wonder how long Karen and Mandy knew each other

i actually wrote an (unfinished and not published) fic about this, kinda- i mean it was more about ian and mandy but it included karen.

they’ve probably kinda always known each other. everybody knows the milkoviches, and karen wasn’t exactly unpopular- i mean, she apparently knew mickey.

i headcanon that they used to be friends. or at least they knew each other sort of well. maybe they’d just play together in elementary school, and both girls wanted to be friends, but they were so different. karen most definitely had friends, mandy probably had nothing, and even if they had never had any real negative interactions nothing ended up happening.

i just find mandy’s deteste for karen in season 2 (like, 2x01- i’m not talking about when she was pregnant with “lip’s” kid) to be weird, why didn’t they like each other, why didn’t karen like mickey? again, it was probably just a social thing. mandy and karen were both known for being promiscuous, but karen was clean, and neat, and a preppy sweet blonde girl, and mandy was dirty, impoverished, and basically the polar opposite of karen. mandy being promiscuous seemed to be something that was constantly used against her, and up until the purity ball karen’s behavior didn’t seem to be used against her (lip literally slutshames mandy in front of karen in 1x03).

they would’ve gotten along so well. especially in season 1. they got along well in the uk version for a reason, their personalities would’ve just worked together. they’re both oversexualized, feminists, and fell dated philip gallagher… sadly.

sorry this ended up getting off topic but i love my favorite wlw couple even if their only storyline together was an attempted murder plot (that was pretty gay, don’t deny it. “oh you mean like all three of us? yeah i could be down for that” - karen jackson). i just love opposite aesthetic gfs🩷🖤
