see the cloud is an example of "everything becoming a goddamned subscription service" but actually good. why pay for a new laptop if i need a specific os or amount of computing power for a class when i can just. use a virtual machine in the cloud for 3 months then deprovision everything at the end of class
#very useful for all types of shit.#i used it to run a linux server and a windows server for 2 courses#the windows server is the more costly option traditionally- you'd need a licence and hardware for it! students cant really procure that!#even the linux server was better in the cloud bc we could practice mounting disks and running it as a web server and stuff#and all of it was easier to get students to set up bc the cloud provider dashboards looked and acted the same for all of us!#txt
