"This convention is fully volunteer-run, which means none of us get receive any money for the work we put in all year to host this; we do this out of passion and all the earnings go directly back into the next event" is maybe not the cool flex you think it is, maybe don't broadcast that over the event speakers twice

#i'm glad they got a bigger venue so they could fit 140 artists but they literally put in so much work #they often run like twice a year #the volunteers should at least be getting a bit of money #im glad they now charge more than they used to for entry #it used to be like $1-2 for entry and they can see now that people are still going to come to some random venue and pay $10 #if they can afford to run it at this venue and only charge $10 per person they could also charge $15 and pay staffers #like they're currently doing this for free and fun but they could still do it for fun and get a hundred bucks or something at least #also obviously i like this event and my only criticism as a vendor is that they always rent weirdly narrow tables #i will always recommend it to new artists because it's the most accessible both financially and for the wealth of artist support #every convention has gotten more expensive to table at (including this one) but thirty bucks for half a table is still very reasonable #it used to be pretty easy to get full tables for thirty-ish
