When Cisco burst into the DEO, nearly falling on top of someone in the process, he was completely oblivious to the guns that were immediately pointed at him. It had been easier to get to Earth 38 after having Vibed there over the past six months to talk to Winn, but it had still taken him more than one try. Thankfully Winn and J’onn recognized him ( before he got himself shot ) and he couldn’t help but grin at the former, throwing his arms around him. “Dude, it worked!! We did it!”

A noise from behind startled him and he broke away from the hug, turning to see Kara standing there, Supergirl suit and all. He smiled at her, this one less excited and just full of happiness for his friends. “I think you might want to come back with me to Earth 1, Supergirl. There’s someone there that probably wants to see you.” He reached out a hand for her to take, the other positioned to open a breach for the pair. He had already sent Wally to go get Oliver, knowing both of them would want to see Barry as soon as possible. Honestly, as soon as they got the call from Cecile he was working on bringing them in, because even if they didn’t love each other anymore he knew they loved Barry more than anything.

The breach opened in Barry’s empty crime lab, everything almost exactly the way it had been six months ago, except for the fact that Julian was gone and the thin layer of dust on everything. He could feel the pit in his stomach as he led Kara out of the room, trying to push away thoughts of what his friend had to go through whilst in the speed force. 

Barry didn’t even turn around from where he sat on the floor when they entered, so completely focused on writing that it was as if part of him was still stuck in the speed force. His eyes seem glued to the wall, and it takes someone speaking for him to actually look up, turn around, and start to stand.

First of all, I want to thank you. I want to thank you for being with me, for helping me be a hero just like you, and for always believing in me even when I wasn’t sure I deserved it. Especially when I didn’t deserve it. My life was utterly changed for the better the day I walked off that bus in the pouring rain and chasing the impossible. I honestly don’t know where I’d be If I hadn’t met you. You are the person who believed in my from the start, and without you there wouldn’t be the Flash. I love you, so so much, and now because of that I need to apologize.

Now that we’ve defeated Savitar, now that Jay Garrick is out of the speedforce prison, I’m hoping we’ll be able to have some time together without anything blowing up, but if what Savitar said is right, about the prison needing a prisoner, then we might not get that. I can’t ask Wally or Jay to sacrifice themselves, not when the reason Savitar was freed is because of me. But in case we don’t get the time we want, in case I don’t get to tell you what you mean to me, I’m writing this out for you, because I don’t think I’m ever coming back from the speedforce if I go in. Either I’ll die there, or I’ll stay there forever, and I’m okay with that if it means you and Kara and everyone else are safe.

This is not your fault. No, really, it isn’t. I know you’re going to beat yourself up, wish there was some way you could have gone instead, but it is not your fault. It’s mine. I’ve accepted that, and I’ve accepted that what’s coming up is my way to atone for those mistakes, but it is no ones fault but my own that this is happening. I love you, and I know what I’m going to ask will be hard, I’m not going to say it won’t be, but I know you, Oliver. I know how strong you are and I know you can get by without me.

Just please move on, for me. Don’t try and get me back, because I don’t want you hung up over me when you should be moving on and healing. I know it might be harder for Kara but stay with her, she’ll need you a lot during the time that I’m gone. I doubt Cisco will give up any easier than Kara, but it’s her and you that have me the most worried. I want you to live your life and be happy without being burdened by the idea that you can bring me back.

I’m not sure I can ever say those words enough to make up for all the times I won’t be able to say them, but I hope that you will say them enough times to Kara to make up for my lost ones. Barry refused to get out of Olivers way, instead crossing his arms and planting his feet firmly. "Last time we had a conversation like this, I wasn't fighting back." He wasn't going to hurt the other, but if he INSISTED on going out after this guy with no backup whatsoever, he was going to get himself hurt. He didn't budge, not even as Oliver stepped towards him. "I'm not letting you run off after this dude half cocked, not by yourself. I WON’T let you get yourself hurt by doing that." Even if it meant he got hurt in the process of trying to keep him here.
