One by one, the others who’d gathered left into the morning. First Dee, then Scarlet, then Blue and Thunder. Even Selene eventually took her leave after tentatively asking if he was planning to stay for much longer. (He suspected she’d prefer it if he could help her restore the shrine to a state she was comfortable cleaning from, but she hadn’t asked outright, and he wasn’t yet in a position to offer.)
Just as quickly as the service had started, Omens was in the earth, and only Midnight and Cherri remained at his grave.
If he sat quietly for long enough, he could still hear Omens screaming over the radio.
Without looking away from the (for now) unmarked grave, Midnight finally prompted, “You wanna talk first, or see inside?”
