bT and gT are, iirc, "bad tally" and "good tally". The game would, in its later phases, use these values to determine how the "game" character (unnamed) and the "virus" character (proto-Alice) would talk to the player, and what sort of "actions" they'd take.
Choosing to quit out gets a bad tally, since the player has to remain in the game in order for the increase to matter at all (in simpler terms: the game gives you a bad tally with the expectation that you'll stay - if you close out, the game starts over, so it doesn't matter if a point is given and the player quits. The bad tally resets to 0.)
Choosing to stay gets a good tally, since even though proto-Alice is disdainful and states that the player can't do anything, it still respects the act of seeing things out to the end. Even if there's nothing the player can do.
Trying to defend the "game" (or comfort it towards the later parts of the game) would give good tally points. Bad tally points would have been harder to get, but most would have been gained through being cruel to the "game" and outright insulting proto-Alice/attempting to undermine it.

Figured I'd better send this in an ask!
Favourite Sonic game or a few, or if it's difficult to chose - just the one that has the most sentimental value? 馃
I have my faves 馃挅
Sonic Adventure has a special place in my heart, being my first Sonic game. It's janky, it's bloated, it has terrible bosses, its gameplay follows the strategy of throwing stuff at the wall to see what happens. It's awesome. Sonic's campaign is an utter delight, to me absolute peak 3D Sonic, I don't care, I love the physics, I love the broad level design that allows for many secrets and shortcuts! But I also enjoy Knuckles' campaign, I think the way treasure hunting was handled in SA1 was fun, with how Knuckles can traverse Sonic's levels in a completely different way. Gamma, too, most of his levels are quite short but chaining explosions is cathartic. Also! The aesthetic! The music, my second favorite soundtrack in the series for how eclectic it is! This game is a sensory delight! It makes me feel cozy, there's nothing better than running around in Station Square at sunset :3
I haven't replayed Sonic Unleashed in a long time (rip xbox :(), but count me in the category of people who always loved it, I was just 12 and unable to make my voice heard in 2008/9 lmao. Yeah, the Medals were not implemented very well, the Werehog levels are a bit padded, I agree with most of the criticism (except that Eggmanland is a bad level. No, it is one of the best examples of excruciating but fair difficulty!), but I can't help it, this game is just sheer fun. Sonic's gameplay is pure, undistillated adrenaline, as the levels throw everything at you and you need to have lightning reflexes, making you feel like Sonic; the Werehog is a chance to relax with more traditional platforming, but honestly I also just like kicking enemies lol. The game also just feels so big in scope, with the concept of going on a world adventure. And needless to say, the graphics aged beautifully for being more than 15 years old, and the music is once again out of this world - Jungle Joyride Night makes me emotional.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles is just iconic. What can I say? This is where the Classic formula was perfected, in physics, level design and attention to detail. I love how big the levels are, so that you can replay the game over and over and always find something new. Aesthetically, it's also a treat in that way only 16-bit games can be. Knuckles' campaign being hard mode due to him accessing to different parts of the levels is a stroke of genius! And the storytelling is just so good, the finale can compete with any 3D game for me.
Shadow the Hedgehog! The meme game! It's actually good and y'all are just mean! No, really, I have tons of fun with this game :D yes some missions are better than others, but I think the branching path structure is genius and you can create some interesting stories with it. Some levels are really, really good! Circus Park, Air Fleet, GUN Fortress, Lava Shelter, Sky Troops! eh but then again i'm the weirdo who thinks The Doom is poetic cinema :p oh and I love Maria here, she's so cute in the two missions she appears in <3
Sonic Advance 3 is my utter joy and delight 馃グ this is, by far, my favorite Sonic game of all time. I wrote two giant posts about it and I speedrun it :) it's fun! I'm just a big fan of big level designs that you can snap in half with the right tricks! The 20 teams are so good to experiment with, each with their own strengths and weaknesses and unique quirks! The game is so pretty and detailed and dreamy! It is meant to be toyed with! I don't even care about the flaws with this one, I love it to death, it's perfect for me, for what I like in Sonic.

Lynn鈥檚 Bionicle Media Looking-At Thing Part 5: The GBA Version Of Bionicle The Game Is So Weird And Frustrating That I'm Not Even Going To Bother Recording Gameplay Footage Of It.
So Bionicle The Game was put onto the GBA, and I hate it.
Tumblr media
The game does look pretty good at times, and I think it might be one of the few GBA games to use 3D graphics (though I couldn't find any lists of 3D GBA games, and the one article I checked was account-walled in a way that meant 12foot couldn't show the whole thing). It's more obvious in motion, like the animations are really smooth and have more freedom of rotation than you'd expect from sprites. If this is the case, that's really cool! Shame the actual game sucks.
So like. It's isometric. That's fine, I like isometric games.
Except the control scheme is very weird.
Ok so say you wanted to go up. In most games, you would press. The "up" button. Except in this game, for some reason the D-pad's directions are rotated 45掳 to the right, so for example, instead of up moving you up, it moves you up and to the right. And no, this isn't an issue of me accidentally pressing the D-pad in such a way that it goes up and left; I'm using a PS4 controller for this, which has directional buttons that are formatted in a way that makes doing that a lot harder. Also, if you do press two directions at once, you go in a normal direction.

This. Fffffucking room. Is the culmination of my problems with this, and it's only the second room in the game (not counting the character select). The grey platform moves constantly backwards and forwards, so you have to jump at exactly the right time. The question mark causes Takua (who, strangely, uses his MNOG design?) to show up and tell you something that you do not need to know at this point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But anyway, after wrestling with the weird movement and awkward, floaty jump, I manage to get here and crikey an enemy! I shoot it and go to the next room...
Tumblr media
... where these Fikou immediately start attacking me, and I can't hit them despite having what looks like an aiming reticle for my ranged attack. But whatever, I accidentally kill one by jumping on it and the other falls into the void. And then like two rooms later I gave up entirely, right as I was getting used to the controls, because the level design is not good, and also judging your position when platforming is very difficult.
Uhhhh next post will be the Bionicle: City of Legends Xbox demo, unless that turns out to just be the PS2 version again, in which case I'll do like. A post about the DS version of Crash Of The Titans or some other non-Bionicle thing I find interesting.
