Something i like about peele's approach is that, his protagonists are sensible. They observe, they think, they arent there to be the cliche character unaware of the tropes they play into. And they all survive. But regardless they all witness the horrors and come out the other end changed by it.

Which i feel is all fittingly parallel to being the viewer.

#nope just skyrocketed up to being my favourite #i really liked how understated the commentary and symbolism was like it was so simple but so full #and i liked the horror of the alien as a wild animal #and i thought oj was just great as a mc like i think his demeanor was exactly what the movie needed #and theres a lot to read into i think with how he personally responds to things in terms of the ongoing pattern of trauma and spectacle #being a cycle like how he is evidently distraught about the past 6 months and is in need of money #and yet still when we see him work its clear he does it for the horses and the way he generally treats everyone #versus the uncomfortable almost acted out dialogue of jupe when he recounts the gordy incident to em the way he packages and sells his own #experiences and the way he treats the horses and jeanjacket #like part of why oj works so well as the protag is his quiet refusal to play into the spectacles other characters are so wrapped up with #hes very honest in his actions
